Subject: Walking tall and standing grand..... maybe.

Each step sent a throb of pain across Tristan's back. He couldn't even smile at it, as it hadn't been a trick of any sort. Maybe after all this was over.

Certain the fire was out, he spun back around, trying to get his bearings. He could still hear fighting around the south of the house. Hope that paladin's god still likes him, because we haven't time to help him presently...

He zeroed in on the leader as he ordered the attack on Calopee. Little lady finally got caught, eh? He'd have to try and do something about that. This was their first real fight, and he had no idea if the halfling was capable in close quarters or not, but double-teamed by the apparent leader and one of his flunkies was not the time to find out. Wincing again as his back flared up, he could only think Hope the witch is paying attention. Head-on is really not my style.... Ah well. When you don't have the winning hand, you bluff.

Straightening up and squaring his soldiers, Tristan brandished his rapier as he strode out of the wheat field. Seeing one of the men dangerously close to the wheatfield, Tristan thrust his rapier towards him, calling out to draw attention. "Discq's Blade, I summon you!" Turning back to the leader, he did his best to glare him down as he drew near.

Even amongst a fight for his life, his frie.. aquaintances' lives, and his burgeoning reputation, Tristan loved theatrics, and could never resist a good trick.

(((OOC: Tristan casts Spiritual weapon at bandit 7, then moves four squares west and attempts to Intimidate the leader. If he hasn't enough actions left to intimidate, just the spell and the move.)))

(((OOC: Edit: The rapier thrust is for effect. Spell was cast with free left hand.)))

My thanks to those who pointed out that I should take advantage of the free 5 foot step. I had forgotten such a thing existed.

I will be editing my post to take advantage of that. Will be done tonight.

Another thrust, another flesh wound, thougth Tristan as he barely managed another hit on the man in front of him. Perhaps I should spend a bit more time fencing, and a bit less time playing the con.... Nah.

He shifted to the side in order to dodge an incoming blade, seeing Sehanine move similarly next to him, and for the same reason. Rivalry or not, that was cool. Maybe we shoul-

Tristan cried out, torn from his thoughts as his back exploded with pain. Turning to face the apparent leader of the group, he almost missed the precision with which Calopee dispatched the two men next to him. He readied his rapier again, a feint to keep him from noticing the ethereal copy about to be conjured at his back even as he began shouting at his men to search for the stealthy halfling.

Sadly, this plan would have to be abandoned as well. He heard the elven witch dash out of the wheat behind him. What in the world is she... Mentally trailing off, Tristan could only marvel at the stupidity of these men as a torch went sailing by, lighting up the field behind him.

While he hated taking his focus off an enemy, especially one that had already wounded him, he had no choice if he was going to save the field, the group's reputation, and possibly little Calopee. He could only hope that the leader would be sufficiently distracted between Calopee's deadly throw, Sehanine's brief appearance, and his own dying men. Moving towards the the torch and focusing inward, Tristan gestured to where the wheat was already beginning to burn, and called forth the waters of the divine.

(((OOC: Edit: After taking a 5 foot step NE, Tristan's going to cast Create Water, and then we'll both pray. Him to Discq, me too the GM.)))

Subject: Pressing on.

Tristan felt the rapier hit home, but could seen immediately that it wasn't a deep wound. As he prepared to strike again something whistled by his ear, a sound closely followed by two thuds as the men in front of him cried out in pain.

I really am going to have to keep an eye on that halfling. She gets more interesting by the hour. He had not yet finished forming that thought when he felt his hair stand on end, a sure sign that Sehanine was spellweaving. This was confirmed a moment later as he felt, rather than saw, two arcane blasts impact on the two men.

Hoping to keep them off balance, Tristan struck again at the man in front of him.

(((OOC: Tristan attacks bandit 5 again. Let me know if I've muddled something up.)))

It's moments like these, thought Tristan, when I"m doing my best to blend into a wheat field, next to the she-elf, hiding from desert dwelling fire-godess worshippers who turn out to be ordinary bandits, that I wonder if this whole ruse is really worth it. He had fallen for the trick second-hand, and hadn't considered something as basic as a disguise. If not for the situationi it put him into, he'd be laughing at himself. He'd have to try and needle Sehanine over it later. It seems her suspicions weren't quite as well founded as he'd begun to believe.

As the man he presumed to be the leader started giving orders, Tristan found himself idly rubbing the silver symbol he wore around his neck. Discq's Loaded Die. Tristan's token acknowledgement of his patron deity. He wasn't big into worship, formal or otherwise. Discq didn't seem to have a problem with it. It was hard to tell though, as divine punishment from a god such as his could easily just be boredom, or a challenge. He didn't understand how people like Relos didn't just throw their hands up in disgust with some of the inane restrictions and rules they had to work under. Discq didn't seem to want anything from him but to cause trouble, and they was just fine by Tristan.

He shook his head again, focusing on the men left in front of him. He'd been drifting in and out of reflection all day, which was odd for him. But there was work to be done now. He ran through the spells he knew in his head, before deciding none would be as useful right now as a good ol' rapier to the face. Glancing briefly at Sehanine, Tristan struck out at the man nearest him from within the wheat field.

(((OOC: This is all I got for now. I think I'm pretty clear, but if something is confusing or breaking some rule, let me know and I will amend.)))

Tristan will most likely go after the one nearest him, with intent to kill, unless Sehanine (being the only one within discreet communication distance) has a better idea. He hopes that Calopee will stone the leader, whom she has line of sight on, but freely admits he's no stone expert, and bows to her wisdom in the matter.

But seriously, thats what I'm thinking atm.

All this giving them a chance to surrender sounds like a mighty fine way to get something set ablaze in an attempt to subdue us or escape. Thay have already stated that intention, they would just be moving up the timetable.

Subject: No plan survives contact with the DM..... Or Mal, for that matter.

Leaning back after another decent meal, Tristan sat and listened as talk began. Interesting points, and it seemed Sehanine wasn't the only person who didn't trust the the farmer's version of events. She was just the most vocal about it.

Truth be told, Tristan had his suspicions by this point as well. Of course, that could be Sehanine's influence. She had a knack for infecting your thinking without expending much effort. But more than suspicious, Tristan's curiosity was starting to burn. Why would desert bandits, or whoever they were, be so interested in this particular farm? It seemed to him if it was a matter of food, it would be far easier to steal things during the night than make the kind of threats they had. Had Isiah angered them, and this was retribution? Did he knowingly or unknowingly possess something of value to them? Monetary? Religious? Historical?

He brought his attention back to the group as the declarations started. Calopee had thought of something he hadn't. He really was distracted tonight. Though now that he was thinking on it, it could easily be on the grounds somewhere.... but they hadn't time for all that. Malachai chimed in next. He mused briefly on the idea of letting him know that he wasn't on stage, and so didn't need to play up to his adoring fans. In the entire (admittedly brief) time Tristan had known him, he'd spoken only in bold declarations, and monologues. It was amusing, when it wasn't tiresome. Next Relos, looking all solemn and and serious. If he were any stiffer, he'd have to banish himself...

Tristan shook his head again, bringing himself back to the present situation. With no more information than what they had, planning would be next to useless. Everything would come down to the step above "wait and see".

He finally spoke as Relos finished. "Searching the house is a good idea, so long as we're sufficiently speedy and discreet about it. I'm absolutely an advocate of lying in wait and seeing what they do with no Isiah here."

[[OOC: Tristan will help anybody who wants to search the house, and unless someone suggests a better plan hiding in the corner of the wheatfield where he has a decent view of the front of the house and the path leading from the front door.... (checks map) the bottom left corner of the upper section.]]

Ok then... thats our rough plan I suppose. Relos and Tristan forward, possibly with Mal if Schnozzle decides to go that route. Calopee and Sehanine in hiding.

This is, of course, subject to complete and total change if Philosopher has more to add or a different/better plan.

Philosopher, we await your input.
