Topic: Has anyone looked into D&D 5?

Well, I played the play test and thought it was pretty good. But I have yet to play the finished product. I am willing to give it a try, but I will have quite the competition to beat Pathfinder as my rule system of choice.

Subject: In memory, we honour them...

I know this is a bit awkward, but I'm not the best on communicating my feelings...

I have a military heritage, with great grand parents on both sides having served, and an uncle currently serving...

There's not much I can say, but that these people are doing possibly the most difficult job ever, and serve for others instead of themselves. I wish all currently serving and retired army soldiers the best of memorial days, and I honour the fallen and deceased ones. Each of you has done a job I would never be able to do.

Don't worry Salvator, I have spoken with Kamina. He's still without a laptop, but once he gets it we'll be right back on it. It's just on a hiatus now, until it gets back.

The Star Wars saga edition has a fairly streamlined system. Basically, you multiply the HP by four; keep initiative, perception, and defences the same; add 50 to the damage threshold; reduce the speed to 1 if the base character has a speed < / = 11, to 2 if the speed is between 12-15, and 3 if it is > / = 16; gain an attrition feature; gain DR 15; keep the same attack score; have a x2 damage multiplier; have all weapon attacks converted to area attacks; take half damage from all non area attacks; and keep feats, skills, and talents from the base character in it. It also has very specialized rolls for PC's within the units, but I usually just have PC's fill all the rolls to keep things moving well.

I took a look at the rules of the book. I'd be interested in playing a game of it, but I don't think I could GM one, especially since I am already committed to my SW game. Before I say yes I will play, I'd like to know a little more about the game's setting and plot.

Alright, Salvator's character has been completed. I would like to have everyone's characters in by next Fridays, so I could start the game next weekend. If there is any reason you are unable to do so, please just let me know (by Pm or post).

Thanks!

Any background is completely open. As long as you are somehow aligned with the Republic, and aren't evil, it's all good.

Too bad Revan. Oh well, Lurk away .

Welcome aboard Jozan1! Do you have an idea for a character?

Oh, sorry I forgot to mention some things for character creation:
-Money is Max rolled money +30,000.
-Max Hit Points

I have no problem answering questions.

I'm really open ended with characters. I'd prefer not to have a party of all Jedi, for the sole reason they lack skills compared to all of the other classes. And I would prefer not to have evil based characters. The characters should be loyal, or somewhat loyal, to the Republic as well.

I'm thinking once a week.

Level 4.

Subject: Rules...

The Star Wars Saga edition is the rule set I use. I will also be making heavy use of the Unknown Regions Campaign Guide. For the most part, I think I handle the rolling and such. The game probably will be a bit lighter on rules than I normally go, since it is more of an unorthodox setting.

Subject: Two for SW...

Alright, I've got two people for Star Wars...

So the setting is the Unknown Regions at 22 BBY. During this time period, the Republic is losing decisively, with planet after planet falling before the Separatist onslaught. The Jedi are still learning their command positions, and lack the experience to be effective commanders and are making the situation even more chaotic. Worse still, a new Droid General is rising through the ranks: General Grievous. Rumor has it he is more skilled than any commander, or Jedi, ever has been.

The plot is a task force commishened by Jedi General Zey. Their goal is to explore the Unknown Regions and find planets of Tactical or Economic power. They will be encountering never before seen creatures, and civilizations and fight independently from the Republic.

I'm just looking for at least one more player (to a maximum of four more) to start the game. Anyone interested?

So I'm thinking...

Viryth Khemstin 5'7 170 lbs

When Viryth was born, his family was already exiled from the Empire of Drannon for reasons Viryth never found out. Often, he was told stories about how his grand father had been one of the greatest lords in Drannon, but Viryth never found proof of this claim. His family moved south into the city of Misthaven in Pardinal, where his father worked on one of the merchant ships. Viryth's childhood was a difficult one. His parent's lack of experience with Pardinal and their still highly dedicated belief in the Empire of Drannon often brought Viryth in conflict with the other children in the region. Additionally, frequent 'mishaps' would occur: objects on ships thathis father was on would go missing, scandalous rumours would spread about the whole family, or random accusations were common. When Viryth was 17, his father died on one of the merchant ships in an accident. Though it was deemed an actual accident, Viryth wondered if it was truly one. After his father's passing, his mother died 7 months later, leaving Viryth and 3 other children practically on there own. They soon went their own separate ways. Viryth decided to be a knight like his parent's had said his grand father was. He wears his family's symbol proudly on his armour. Even though it has been a couple of years since he has started adventuring, Viryth has not accomplished anything of note.

How is this? I know I am bad with names so I can change it if you'd like.

I am interested. I'm not very experienced in second ed though, but I can create characters in it. I would prefer to play a fighter (my favorite) but I'm good with anything. If you turn me down because you'd prefer someone more versed in second edition, I would not be offended in the least.

No life signs? Lack of Oxygen was bad enough, but no life signs? Even the most basic clone armour could resist vacuum for a short time. Since there was no life signs, that meant the droids had killed them all. Gyro hastily silence the computer. This was going to be a problem... Remembering that reinforcements were on the way, Gyro calmed down slightly.

Gyro commed his fellow clones. "Uhh guys. If the droids begin to cut the doors just open it up and fight. There's not air in the other sections, and we can not afford a long term vent." Beginning to work with the computer again, Gyro attempted to reactivate the cameras in the other sectors. It's not like the droids were smart enough to deactivate or destroy them... right?

(OOC: Gyro attempts to reactivate the cameras to the other wings of the base.)

Since SWIM has kind of crashed and burned, I was wondering if anyone wanted to take part in a new game. I'm thinking of an evil/neutral aligned Pathfinder game, or a Clone Wars Unknown Region exploration SW game. I'm thinking both will be more player dominated in the storyline and decision making processes.

I'll post more details if there is interest.

Subject: Curses!

"This can't be good, this can't be good at all! Help me shut these things off before the droids hear them!!"

"Blast it!" Gyro cursed as the computer blared at them. They couldn't have this now, not when they were so close to freedom. He could practically taste the freedom that they would get when they got off this barren rock.

Gyro sprinted over to the computer, and fear giving in to frustration, he punched it while trying to fix it. How could so many things go wrong in one day? It wasn't like this outpost was important or anything! The droids were just blowing resources off for a rock! Nothing more!

Calming himself down somewhat, Gyro continued to try and fix the computer. Zoning out the world around him, he went to comprehend and silence the alarms.

(OOC: Gyro concentrates fully on undersanding and muting the computer, and he leaves himself open to attack.)

Gyro ran in to the security room, hoping to find the sealant button. "Button, button, button, where are you? You can't be that hard to find..." Gyro nervously murmured once in the room. Then he saw it: the big red button. On the underside of one of the consoles! What a stupid place to put it; how was one supposed to find it quickly in an emergency? Whatever, there was not time for that.

Gyro smashed the glass with he knee armour, then gave the button a heavy push. It had to work. All it needed to do was hold for one maybe two minutes, then it would be good. Gyro closed the security room door, though he didn't lock it, then unsealed his armour to let it's oxygen supply restock.

“I’m sorry that I lit a fire so close to Jade, it was the only way I could think of to get your attention, we couldn’t find you… She was never in danger, I wouldn’t have let it get to her…”

Anger briefly got the better of David. "What about one of the coordinators? They could have tracked me down!" David paused, regaining his composure. It wasn't really David's place to teach Amera this. And he certainly shouldn't be so harsh to his client. "Sorry. I guess it worked... just be more careful next time..."

"Welp, looks like everything is picking right up from here! We should all get some ice cream or something!"

David turned to Tiffany. He was unsure exactly why she was still here, and why he recognized her. David was about to pose this question when the loudspeaker blared, "ATTENTION LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE'D LIKE YOU TO KNOW OUR SPECIAL FREAK SHOW SHALL BE STARTING IN 15 MINUTES. MAKE SURE TO COME TO THE BIG TENT IN THE CENTER OF THE PARK AND PARTAKE IN THE FESTIVITIES!"

"Ooh! A show? What's a freak show exactly?" Jade asked. David glanced down at her.

"Nothing we should go watch. I'm surprised they still exist..." When David looked back up, Amera was visibly shaken. David didn't know he had been that hostile to her. "Amera? What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost. A real one, that is..." David's voice drifted off as he realized how dumb of a statement that was in a theme park full of ghost costumes.

David murmured a quite curse to himself under his breath. Why did the crowd seem so thick? He had to get to the ferris wheel. If Jade was near and the fire happened... no, he couldn't think that. With new vigour, David continued to push his way through the crowd, hardly noticing Tiffany and Lore behind him.

Stepping off the cart wide eyed in fear, Jade looked up. She saw her father emerging from the crowd. She screamed in delight, and ran into her fathers arms. "Jade, I was so worried," David finally managed to say.

"I was with your friend. We managed to win things!" Jade excitedly. "Want to see? Want to see?"

"Sure," David said, hardly curbing any acid from creeping into his voice. He looked up to say something to Amera, but Lore seemed to have it handled. David would bring it up later, after Lore had finished with the... somewhat violent reunion. David turned his attention back to Jade.
