Well if you want to clarify the Captain's intent, post another post and clarify. If you edit your post after others have posted, such as myself, then you force everyone after you to possibly edit their own posts.

Been delayed on the PM's but RPN reaction was prefect for his character. One thing about the emergency lights is they do not come on immediately. All electrical systems are dead and the back up do not come on for five minutes.

I would think that ships in the future, such as this, would be at least equipped as ships of our time. Most have emergency lighting, just like most office buildings today, that are battery operated to last until things like emergency generators could be fired up. The lights would have internal batteries that should last at least long enough to get the power back.

Am I wrong here? Is there no lighting what so ever?

Yes you are correct that there are emergency lights set up to come on in the case of power outage. They do run on battery power.

However, in this instance, the backup emergency lights are out as well and will be out for a few minutes.

There is a reason. Some of the crew will know why.
