Spoils

Not that I'm looking ahead or anything . . .

This is a pretty legendary ship.  With a pretty legendary (and, ahem, valuable) cargo.

What are the salvage rules in space?  I suspect Alacrity isn't going to drop millions of $ worth of platinum on us 5 posts into the game, but if he did, what are the rules?  And what about the ship itself?  Given its history the ship itself could have value.  At the very least we aren't going to be able to tow/fly it into a shipyard like we/you did with Destiny.  That name plate will attract a lot of attention.  It would also attract attention to us - and likely get people asking questions about us.

This is all very far in the future since we haven't even managed to board the thing yet, but I thought I'd throw it out there as food for thought.

Alacrity - what are the salvage rules for derelicts found floating in the black?  (How long has this ship been missing?)

a very good question

There is a lot of trash in the Verse and it is not an open market system. You must have a salvage licence to take anything from a ship that is derelict in space. Now you can get the licence for the Alliance as an independent operator but it can take months of forms and paperwork. You can also become a "licenced member' of United Reclamation, which is a corporate entity that has does salvage and is allowed to issue licences for contractors. if you work with UR, they take a cut, and you pay fees, and dues etc.

Now if you are aiding or rescuing people from a vessel in distress, you can claim a portion of salvage to offset expenses and generally accepted good Samaritan fees.

Of course there is a lot of illegal salvage out there. getting caught though, is usually a bad thing.

Firepower

I'd rather have too much, then too little

Remember that a ship is refered to as She, so Ivy's mutterings don't have to mean a person. A captain loves his ship. Remember how the crew felt when Roc took so much damage in the rescue of the fiddle.

If it makes sense then I don't have problem with Pops staying to watch Destiny. He can practice his cooking and have some nice chilli and noddles ready for your return.(Skyline Chilli)

noddles

"Noddles" is Mandarin for "spicy pepper that makes ghost peppers look mild".

Wait, salvage work might be illegal and get us in trouble??  Oh geez, then Alex is out.

Ok, maybe not.

Thanks for the info.

Fox doesn't have an opinion on being on being on the boarding team or not. He actually doesn't favor stopping here at all. I'll have a post up to that effect as soon as I have a dadgum minute.

Would Pops really want to not stop????

Seriously?  Pops doesn't favor stopping to check out the most famous tresure ship ever?  I get wanting to not mess anything up and everything, but if this ship is as famous as Alacrity implied then would anyone really not want to investigate?  First, the money.  (Probably gone) Second, it is a legendary mystery.

time

Thw War has been over for about a year and the platinum heist and Demeter legend was about a year proir to that so the ship has been out in the black for two years.

I apologize for my silence of late. I've been working like a dog and had some household changes.

I'll have a post up no later than this weekend but I'm hoping to get a post up today.

I'm sorry

I did not quite understand the plan as Wyatt explained it. Are you Eva Suit jumping and then having Alex and Ivy come over in the shuttle? or shuttling en mass and leaving Alex & Ivy in shuttle?

SilentOne - Check your PM, please. The doctor has some information that is important to the mission.

Shuttle with the EV suits because there's no life support. That's a big ship and there's a lot of mystery behind it. I like to play it safe with the firepower.
