((Edit, packposting a bit))

"We'd be willing to take you I'm sure. What's yer name?"

"Names Savis. Nice to meet you all.". He tried hard to remember all their names but it was difficult.

He grabbed his pack and made sure he had everything he possibly needed. When he could, he would have to go buy some ingredients to make potions and poultices. He had a feeling they would need them. It seemed like crowds poured into the city and Savis had to resist shifting again to a dog. He didn't like crowds.

He listened to Iara, sneaking glances at her occasionally. He had not spent much time around women before and she was something to look at.

As they made their way into the woods, further away from the crowds, Savis began to relax. He scratched his untamed hair as he crouched at the edge of the forest and looked at his companions.

"So what did you guys wanna do now?"

If I found something of theirs I could track, I could probably find them.

Savis looked around and tried to find any tracks or anything that he could use to identify them. Failing that, he would suggest

"Maybe we should talk to some of the village people. See if they saw something.".

((One thing that I wanted to note. He's rather young for his age. Probably about 16 or 17.))

When's update day btw?

Additionally, is there a place to see a char sheet or do we keep our own?

Some questions:

1) Is there anything that would obviously be left by the bandits?
2) Would i be able to catch a scent to track?
3) When was the last bandit attack and are we at the camp they attacked?

@ Nomad, good catch, You are actually able to distinguish that although 6 of the "zombies" have very old armour that is cracked and abused from the weather, 2 of them have relatively clean and well taken care of armour

Judging by who is winning the fight.. It's hard to say, but you can probably guess the elves will win the fight but they'll take a few injuries. That is if the group of 8 don't change abruptly. (they have very jerky and slow movements)

EDIT:
If you guys want to fight, I'lll come up with a quick sketch of a map for you guys. That way you can see how you'd like to position yourselves.

Btw: Concerning spellcasters, This is a reminder to be a bit.. secretive about your powers around other people.

Mechanics for defiling will be the following

Defile: You have a -2 modifier when casting on defiled ground. If you are casting in neutral ground, you defile the first 5 feet for no modifier, If you defile an additional 5 feet radius, you can up the spell slot of whatever you're casting by 1.
On luscious ground, you have a +2 modifier for first 5 feet, then you can defile an additional 5 feet radius, you may up your spell slot by 2.

((It seems powerful and it is. If you have any advice on preservers that'd be good))

Preservers: You have a -1 modifier when casting on defiled ground. If you are casting in neutral ground, you do not have a modifier. On luscious ground, you may cast with a plus 1 modifier without the defiling.

I'm going to write up a spell that essentially protects from defilers, preventing a set part of land from being defiled for x amount of hours, days or minutes. I'm thinking that'll be the tradeoff?

Basically defilers get more power, preservers get less but can protect.

I don't mind being in front. I'm pretty tanky anyways

I can travel in dog form, I think it gives me a bonus to tracking and disguise? I'll need to check that.

I'll also get names down eventually as well.

I'll have a post up friday hopefully...

((Feel Free to back post, I'm trying to get this game moving along now, this is my first time so if i'm not pacing it well, just feel free to give me a shout to speed up/slow down))

The nights were cold and it was plain to see that travelling at this time would be difficult indeed without the proper clothes and precautions. A cold, harsh wind blew through the camp each night as the wind howled restlessly. The fire provided little light to see but it appeared that there were no dangers in the area.

Travelling by the day was dreadfully uncomfortable, the sweltering heat surrounded the group but despite this, they were adequately equipped with supplies and they could travel comfortably.

On the third day, after breaking camp and walking for approximately 3 hours against the wind, faint sounds of battle could be heard. Very faint. But the unmistakable sound of bowstrings being pulled.

((Imma skip forward a bit, gonna assume you guys are going to go closer to it and maybe sneak towards it, feel free to correct me and i'll change it.))

Staying close to the surface of the hot sand, the group witnesses a strange battle in where a group of adventurers, mostly made up of elves. They're recognizable from the square. The fight takes place about 70, 80 feet away. The group they fight with, they are.. Strange. their movements jerky and their armour cracked and incomplete. Arrows litter their bodies but still they move.

((Elves number 4, the "other group" is 8. If you want a map drawn, lemme know. My summer school is almost done so I'll be putting more consistent updates hopefully!)

Savis walked through the streets, utterly amazed by the sights, the sounds, how alive the city felt. Already there were merchants hustling to sell their wares. He didn't grow up in a small town but this was anything unlike he had ever seen before.

His eyes flickered in between the people, watching them cautiously as he stayed closer to the shadows. He debated for a few moments and then shifted into beast form, where his human form was now sat a black dog, similar to that of a black wolf. He padded along the streets, feeling much more comfortable in this form.

He thought of his brother Ace, of the story he would tell him and the stories he would tell him of his adventures.

Suddenly a song plays and he stops, one paw raised and he heads towards the sound of the melody. He sat there for quite a long time, just listening and watching everyone. He rather enjoyed music.

Sitting there, he waited for quite some time, just watching the liveliness of the city. Eventually, he made his way to the job board when he heard a conversation between 3 fellows.

"Bandits anyone? I'm thinking a few of us could have some fun and make some coin, all while doing a good deed for the poor people of this community!"

"Aye, I'd be willing to help out."

"Greetings to you both. Bandit snatching sounds delightful. Please call me Iara."

Savis sat there, watching the group and he didn't bother reading the other ones. Its' always better to be in a group right? He barked once then stood on too legs, shifting into his humanoid form. He then said:

"I'll help you with those bandits.. That is if you'll take me.".

((Average height with untamed brown hair. Cut haphazardly, very jagedly and it is about shoulder length. Wears loose clothing and he has a solid build. (Sturdy). Eyes are wild and untamed for the most part, always taking an interest in the environment. His eyes remain the same regardless of which form he takes. Has yellow eyes))

I've been busy irl as well, haven't been able to put as much time in this as I could.

I'm going to assume that you guys will be keeping the same watch rotation every night and will roll the perception checks accordingly. That okay?

As well, do you guys want to fastforward to when something interesting happens?

Edit:

Just read everything, I'm loving dynamics. Just don't get too pvpish

The trader handed the supplies to Morrigu and accepted the coins, busying himself with something behind the counter.

As the group spoke amongst themselves, discussing plans and admonishing a certain dark elf for her oddities, many of the "adventurers" began leaving. Eventually, Trossach picked up Morrigu and "convinced" her to join them in travelling.

The sun was hot and bright, beating on from above. As the group left the safety of the village and began leaving, a pair of guards stood at the gate, watching as the group of 30 ish began their travels. One of them, a youth of perhaps 16, a boy with a horrible sunburn on his face in the shape of his helmet looked grim and said to everyone:

"Kalak watch over you.". ((Most powerful Sorceror King, rules Tyr))

A dry wind swept among the land, kicking sand in everyone's faces, in their eyes. Visibility was poor. Of course, the templars did not bother to leave the comforts of the inn. Despite the conditions, the group managed to head north west, towards the supposed ruins.

Nothing eventful happens during the first day, Making good progress, camp is set up in the meager comfort of a small sand dune, offering protection against the wind and shade against the setting sun. The cold appears to start to settle in as the temperature drops uncomfortably.

((Okay, not much to do this week, Next week will be more exciting though Just lemme know what you want to happen, taking watch, building a fire, anything like that))

Entirely up to you. Both can be done and Morrigu definitely would have travelled during the night as she has sunlight sensitivity.

Additionally: Sirsid, you haven't gotten any proficiencies to me for your skills. Do you want me to give you a list of those?

As the merchant was quickly ganged up by the elfs companions, he raised his hands in a show of peace.

He appeared to be most affected by the half orc and the.. unnerving stare of the dark elf. Though he seemed to pay attention to Reynards and Doc Kilk's words. At Doc Klik flipping the table, the others attention shifted onto them and they grumbled and went back to their business.

The trader shifted underneath the uncomfortable stare of Morrigu and he was about to speak when she asked him.

"Tell me, how well do your children sleep at night?" .

Unbidden, a chill crept through his spine and he shuddered a bit, getting a shaky.

"Fine.. Thank you.". is she threatening me..?

The trader gulped and asked "What is it you want then? Supplies? Fine. Take them. I'll give you 3 for the price of 2? Is that fair to the rest of you?"

Although his tone was irritated and hurried, it was plain to see that he felt slightly shaken up by this encounter.

I've been having IRL DnD on sunday nights instead of saturday nights lately (due to others schedules). Regardless I'll try to update sunday nights!

Additionally: from now on if everyone has posted, then I'll pump out another post instead of waiting till sunday.

Trossach and Ochit made their way to a human merchant, a female named Nalina. They quickly bought their things and made way. Doc Klik looked amidst the group, trying to find the most honest trader and he deemed that Nalina was indeed the most honest one.

He spoke to the woman, reminding her of the deeds of the templars and the protection that they offer to them. Nalina at first tries to haggle back but eventually she acquiesced, giving him four survival days for the price of 8Cp. At the extra coin, her face lit up with surprise and she thanked the thri-kreen profusely, making note to remember him.

Crowe prowled the tavern, looking for a sign of one of his kin. At first, there were no obvious marks but then again, the signs weren't obvious. His eyes honed in and he caught the outline of a symbol on the bracers of the man with his hood up, sipping at a cup. Crowe approached him, greeting him in celestial and he sat down. The man revealed himself to be a half-elf and he paused for a second, then greeted him back. The pair exchanged words, with Crowe telling him of the situation he's in and the man says

"The name's Zan. I'll give you your supplies. Family discount too right? 5Cp for 3 days of supplies. Lowest I can go in this area..". He leaned in close and said.

"But if you be looking for a fence, or someone to sell things too, best remember me, right friend?"

A few minutes passed and Zan handed Crowe some supplies, going upstairs to his room and he handed them to him.

Morrigu meanwhile took an entirely different approach and walked to one of the merchants, standing there and smiling at him, staring at him the entire time. He was visibly uncomfortable at the look and he asked her aggressively.

"You want something, dark-skinned freak?"

It appeared the inn goes quiet as the mans loud voice carrieed throughout the room.

The rest of you were in the corner, huddled and debating where and when to go. Your bags are filled with supplies and your coin purses are significantly lighter than before when you hear this.

((Sorry Nimu, I was a bit unclear what you char wanted to do. If you wanted to do something else or if you wanted to add something, just lemme know and I'll quickly post another update for it))

Subject: day/night

Most people tend to travel through the day, make camp during night. Despite the heat of the desert, it's easier to travel by day since you can see everything, use the sun as a marker and stuff.

B) main reason imo, is that the desert gets cold during the night. Like freezing cold, -20ish degrees Celsius. It's up to you guys how you wanna travel though.

EDIT: Doc also only has two proficiencies. I think that might be from the background?

Choose two from history,medicine, persuasion

2nd EDIT: Apparently I forgot to add background proficiencies. Nomad, you'll get 2 from your background, athletics plus insight. Choose 2 from
Acrobatics, animal handling, history, intimidation, perception or survival.

, concerning Morrigu, I'm not sure if'she's trying to persuade or intimidate

Sorry Kaelyn lol, It'll be 15 Cp not 1500 Cp, that's a huge fortune I must've mistyped it or copied it from somewhere that wasn't using my rules.

Hmm.. The price of survival days seems to be a bit much.. Lemme edit it from 5 Cp on average to 1 Cp on average. Commoners would be getting food or be trading labor for food. The four e dark sun setting recommended 5 Cp for one survival day but that seems crazy no matter how I look at it...

Post will reflect that. Normal price is 1 CP, they'll be charging 3 CP (so 3 gp basically) per survival day. If you could edit your post Kaelyn that would be good

@shield. You could potentially scrounge up food. You'll still have to make that wisdom survival check but there are obviously some areas that are defiled which will not have any food. Additionally the check will be rather difficult. Prolly a 15 on "Easier" land and a 20 on average territory like the one you'll be travelling. It's up to you whether you'd like to risk it

@Keeper, You could definitely do that xD

Topic: Dark Sun Q/A
Subject: Gold currency

It appears that this currency system was ill advised lol.

1 Lead bead (bd) =1 Copper Piece (cp) 1/100 CP
1 Ceramic bit (bt) 1 Silver Piece (sp)1/10 CP
1 Ceramic Piece (Cp)=1 Gold Piece (gp) 1 CP
1 Silver Piece (sp)= 1 Platinum Piece (pp) 10 CP
1 Gold Piece (gp)= 100 CP

Essentially a Cp is equivalent to a gp. The cp (copper pieces) can be a bit confusing with the upper case Cp (ceramic pieces). So they're charging 8 gp per day basically. an excessive amount of gold.
