Topic: Slate: The Hundred Years of Rain Subject: Saving Pike
Damian listened to Matzan intently but every so often, he would stop listening, his gaze on their scarred faces. He couldn't help but think that that was what he looked like now. Would other people assume that he was a Feral? He pulled himself out of these thoughts, trying to pay attention to hear from the man
"You all ruined that. Yes, we broke Pike. Other places too.".
Damian clutched his quarterstaff, his knuckles going white from the pressure. Intense rage fueled within him and he an image of himself beating him with his staff. But.. As much as he wanted to avenge Pike, he knew these people weren't evil. They just needed to survive.
He frowned, A place for a better life. Heading North? Then a thought crept up inside of him. These people were taking clerics.. Perhaps they took Mother Tobs?
Opening his mouth he said:
"I agree with Daxos. We cannot abandon Pike.". He paused for a short second, narrowing his eyes at the man and looking for any sign of deceit. "Have you seen a cleric woman. Name's Mother Tobs. She would've been rather short. Brownish hair that went to her shoulders, in her late 40's?".

Apologies for the late reply guys
If Tann handles all the rolls and stuff then sure, I'd be down to play especially if no one else wants a spot.
I'd like to know a little bit more about her though. I'll try to read through the old posts but thats a lot of posts
Just a little bit more about her personality, her driving force/motivations. I wanna make sure that I keep her character intact

Topic: Recruitment for Dark Sun setting campaign? Subject: damn
I have not read through it yet but I guess I should during the cruise Will download it now and take a read through it.
Bit of unnecessary background but essentially this is in a world that I made from scratch and right now, in this particular country which was named Ostia, powerful mages/sorcerers discovered how to use the land to fuel their magics, essentially taking over the country and defiling the land.
This is set in the third age of the world

Topic: Recruitment for Dark Sun setting campaign? Subject: oooh
Interesting. Definitely send me a link to that. I love reading new mechanics. Btw I'll have a homebrew section in the Q&A system where it'll have all homebrew rules that you can refer to. I find it helps to clear stuff up.
As for your background. You can plan something together with other PC's but for now, I'm planning on having a city that is on the outskirts of the God King/Sorcerer king (btw they're the same. Meta wise, the god king is really just a powerful mage.). It'd be a place where it's more lax with security and such. As well I'm planning on having a form of rumoured ruins or such near there. Just an idea that i've been throwing around though.

I'm interested. Just wondering if it's 3.5 e or Ad&D. I have no experience with anything but 5E and limited experience with 3.5E.

Topic: Recruitment for Dark Sun setting campaign? Subject: Rp mechanics
Yea it does seem really interesting. Tbh I'm not quite satisfied with the mechanics of defiling and such and I want to tweak it a lot. Just need to do a lot of playtesting.
As for where it comes from, It comes from inside yourself which is your spell slots.
One thing that I kinda wanna introduce is exhaustion for other tasks.
I.e. You really need to cast that second level spell and you have no other spell slots. Ask me and I'll let you cast it, you just have a level of exhaustion.
Need another action surge? Take a level of exhaustion and you can get it. Just a mechanic that I'd like to play round with as well, I think it could be fun

Excitement Don't worry about the late post Nozzle, though I'm definitely hoping to get it rolling soon~
Edit: So he's telling us that theres another place we can go? Basically abandon pike and what not? What do you guys think? I'm thinking we can make him work at Pike. I'm sure they can use a spare set of hands and a mage. That is if one of us can convince them to help.

Int 14 (2)

Cha 15 (2)
HP: 8/13
AC: 14
Initiative: +3
Speed: 30ft
Proficiencies [Prof bonus +2]:
Armor: Light armor
Weapons: Simple weapons, hand crossbows, longswords, rapiers, shortswords
Tools: Thieves' tools, Lute
Saving Throws: Dexterity. Intelligence
Skills: Perception, Persuasion, Sleight of Hand, Deception, Performance, Survival, Stealth, Acrobatics
Saves: Dexterity and Intelligence
Languages: Common, Elven, Celestial, Undercommon, Thieves' Cant
Racial Traits:
-Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2, and two other ability scores of your choice increase by 1. (Int/Con)
-Darkvision. Thanks to your elf blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it w ere bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
-Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.
-Skill Versatility. You gain proficiency in two skills of your choice.
-Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Elvish, and one extra language of your choice.
Class Features:
-Expertise (Sleight of Hand, Deception)
At 1st level, choose two of your skill proficiencies, or one o f your skill proficiencies and your proficiency with thieves' tools. Your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make that uses either of the chosen proficiencies.
At 6th level, you can choose two more of your proficiencies (in skills or with thieves' tools) to gain this benefit.
-Sneak Attack
Beginning at 1st level, you know how to strike subtly and exploit a foe's distraction. Once per turn, you can deal an extra 1d6 damage to one creature you hit with an attack if you have advantage on the attack roll. The attack must use a finesse or a ranged weapon. You don't need advantage on the attack roll if another enemy of the target is within 5 feet of it, that enemy isn't incapacitated, and you don't have disadvantage on the attack roll.
The amount of the extra damage increases as you gain levels in this class, as shown in the Sneak Attack column of the Rogue table.
-Thieves ' Cant
During your rogue training you learned thieves' cant, a secret mix of dialect, jargon, and code that allows you to hide messages in seemingly normal conversation. Only another creature that knows thieves' cant understands such messages. It takes four times longer to convey such a message than it does to speak the same idea plainly. In addition, you understand a set o f secret signs and symbols used to convey short, simple messages, such as whether an area is dangerous or the territory of a thieves' guild, whether loot is nearby, or whether the people in an area are easy marks or will provide a safe house for thieves on the run.
-Cunning Action
Starting at 2nd level, your quick thinking and agility allow you to move and act quickly. You can take a bonus action on each of your turns in combat. This action can be used only to take the Dash, Disengage, or Hide action.
Background:
-Gypsy
Feature: Family Everywhere:
A gypsy's life is full and rich with music and tales to mesmerize a crowd. You live for the refinement of a tale, the discovery of a new song, and the applause of the crowd; not to mention all the coin it can bring. You are an expert at performance and proficient in survival on the road. Living on the road with a performing troupe also leaves you with kin in many of the travelling shows. All gyspsies stand in defense of the 'family' and are known to each other through subtle caravan markings, hand signals, and traditional ceremonies. Any gypsy found violating the tennants of the family will find themselves on the outside looking in; always wanting but never finding shelter or help. As it's said, 'Word travels quickly on roads but lingers in cities.' A writ from a noble or lord or King grants permission for admittance to many cities for most troubadors but an ousted gypsy never finds haven in or out of towns.
-Personality Trait: I often over-exaggerate my past or dance around the subject.
-Ideal: Trust I trust in the family and the mutual benefits we provide together. (Good)
-Bond: Wanderlust is in my blood and in my bones. I will not remain in one place for more than a full moon cycle.
-Flaw: I can't be trusted with valuables and will often sell what I don't need.
Gear:
a rapier
a shortbow and quiver of 20 arrows
an explorer's pack (Includes a backpack, a bedroll, a mess kit, a tinderbox, 10 torches, 10 days of rations, and a waterskin. The pack also has 50 feet of hempen rope strapped to the side of it.)
Leather armor, two daggers, and thieves' tools
a set of traveler's clothes, a blanket, an ink pen and vial of ink, a journal of your previous travels, a trinket from your travels (A brass ring that never tarnishes), a writ to perform by authority of a noble or noble family, a lute, and a belt pouch containing 5 gold.
Appearance: Half-elf male of average build with green eyes and brown hair. Nothing spectacular, making it easier to blend into a crowd. His hair is wavy not overly long, but not cropped short either, he wears no facial hair, and takes great pains to maintain his clothes and gear, wanting to look his best if an opportunity arises to perform, whether for profit or as a distraction.

Topic: Recruitment for Dark Sun setting campaign? Subject: time
I have loads of time. In summer school but that shouldn't take too long. Concerning the character sheet. Don't worry bout getting one in too quickly as I don't have any of my DnD things here. I'll be returning on may 15th, so hopefully first post by may 18
Concerning the armour, I'm ruling it that thri-kreen are fairly common within the world. Armour for them will be the same price as the others. In the variant with the natural armour, they made thri-kreen armour more expensive.
Aight I think the telepathy sounds cool. Maybe you have to be looking in their eyes in order for it to work with an extended distance for conversing with other kreen? Only drawback is that you can only talk to one person at a time. (Unless outwardly speaking kreen)
To clarify, I can try to make two campaigns. My IRL DnD group is on hiatus as someone's on vacation so I've got tons of ideas laying about

Topic: Recruitment for Dark Sun setting campaign? Subject: Damn dudes
Wow lot more interest than I had originally anticipated. We currently have 8 players including Ayrn.
Now here is the question I pose to you guys. Split up the groups? It's going to be hosted in the same world, I'll just put you guys on different corners
The reason why I'm asking is because I don't know if some people might not be able to post every week and their character might leave for a time doing something until they are able to post. (Perfectly fine. I won't be upset). But then a party of 4 might shrink to a party of 3 or 2.
On the other hand, if we stick with one huge group, balancing encounters will be hard af and combat might get boring. (Roll low initiative, others might be able to kill the threat without the other players going.).
Lemme know. I had an idea for the main quest and now I have to come up with another one because of you awesome folk

Topic: Recruitment for Dark Sun setting campaign? Subject: Thanks for feedback!
Hmm.. Muls do appear to be a bit powerful. I wrote that at 1 in the morning so maybe I screwed up a bit lol. Will be changing that!
As for preserving/defiling.
I haven't added spells but preservers get an extra 9th level spell available. Additionally, I'll take a look at the doc ayrn sent. I was debating adding in a mecanic but I didn't want to add something until I playtested it. Will be updating that as well.
Edit: You cannot defile a land that is already defiled. I believe what I Was thinking was that if you cast a spell upon already barren land, the radius of the defilement increases by a range of 5 feet. Additionally, I believe if you cast on barren land, you get a negative to DC but I want to check on it before. Keep an eye out for the doc
If you have any other concerns lemme know
I might change something to thri-Kreen. Might add limited telepathy (range of 10 feet) or something like that. I like the race so I'm debating what to do. Which would you prefer, natural armor buff or telepathy?

Ya that's literally the only change I made
Thanks for the suggestion! And also the document, I used a lot of that for inspiration
Damn: A whopping 7 characters. Hope to have fun playing with you all
Edit: For equipment. Assume to start off with all bone weapons unless stated otherwise. Perhaps if you're a fighter or something, we can let you have a single stone weapon if you wanna make that part of your background or something. I'm willing to work stuff out with you.

Topic: Recruitment for Dark Sun setting campaign? Subject: Sure
Yea I'm down for having another player. Though that might be it then Sure a cleric of the elemental planes sounds good. Check out the google doc that I posted. That's the one that I made/(copied from other sources) what I liked and stuff. Everything there should be fine. Might be a few errors on my part though.
@shield wolf, Yea! I'm excited for it. I've been working on the story every night. Prolly gonna have the first post out on may 18th or so.
@keeper. I'm using the goliath as a template for half giants for now. Give me a day or so to see if theres something I can do to change anything.
@Kaelyn: additionally, if you look at the google document, certain elements are associated with different domains so earth is typically under nature and war. Potentially life if you'd like.
Also one thing to note, Thri-Kreen can only speak Kreen due to their physiology. Still, they might be interesting to play

In all honesty, I sure as heck don't mind if you join in a rules based rpg even if you know nothing about the rules. I'm willing to help you out and we all start somewhere right?
If you are looking to try something out, I'll be DMing something and you can give it a shot. All you have to do is create your character and when we're actually playing just state what you want to do as I'll be rolling for everyone. Anyways, best of luck for you finding something! I believe Astrid rolls a free form thing every thursday but that might have fizzled.
