Zombies in Chicago Q&A
This will be the official Q&A thread for my modern horror game, "Zombies in Chicago".
Please post questions and such here, so that I don't have to look everywhere for them.
The main game thread is up, but please do not post there until I have made one more post, myself (the game does not actually begin until October 26th - my current post is dated October 16th).

Told ya I was droolin'!!!
I even slobbered out Murph's first post already.
Didn't want to go too far before the rest of our group had a chance to speak up, of course, but Murph's ready to go... I'm going on the assumption that the shotgun Patty had in the intro post went with him when he got munched and so isn't readily available, so the first thing he's going to want to do (even before checking the door) will be to find a better weapon than the knife he's got... then check the door... then go after that shot gun if nothing else... He's hoping someone else will volunteer to go with him and cover his back but will go after the boomstick alone if he has to.

weapons?
There is a crowbar in the cellar that Patty used to open crates. There are probably a couple of lengths of two by four here that could be used as makeshift clubs, if need be.
Anyone that frequented O'Brians is probably aware that Patty kept a Louisville Slugger under the bar along with his shotgun. It may well still be there.

*grins*
Well that's better than the box of plastic sporks that have been collecting dust on that top shelf, huh?
Thanks, Boss.

Yup...
...not to mention a very short romp for this initial group of survivors, I'll bet.
Anyhoo... I've got a bit more in mind now that I know what sort of weaponry we've got available but will hang back a little and let the others post something up before I get to crazy with another post....
Ooooh! Afterthought! I'll bet that we could make some nifty molotov cocktails with a bottle or two of that liquor, too... Zombies do burn regardless of whether they're fast or not, right?

I've seen Shaun of the Dead one too many times...
Weaponry: What all does this bar have in decor/entertainment?
I'm picturing a long wooden bar with bottles behind it in front of a long mirror... tables and bar stools throughout... perhaps a pool table, dart board, maybe a pin ball machine, juke box, televisions... would that be about correct? I'm all for make-shift weapons.
Ohhh... and would I be correct to assume that the phones (including cellular) stopped working shortly after the 'mob' came barreling through the city? You know it is useful to ask questions after reading the posts where sometimes your questions are answered without having to bother the GM... cell phones don't work...

Your bar decor is pretty accurate. Bar and bar stools as you have described. Pool table, darts, typical bar games.
So, yes, there are likely makeshift weapons available.

lovely work from you too dear...
now...
GM: Knowledge Local... where is the nearest store with a pharmacy? I'm assuming there should probably be a Walgreens or CVS nearby... I swear there is one on every corner here in StL.

yep
The nearest chain drugstore is a Walgreens at the corner of Sheffield and Belmont - half a block west, then about four blocks south (this takes you away from Wrigley, if you care).
Alternately, it's about the same distance to head due east; there's a Save Rite just south on Boradway after it intersects with your current street (Cornelia). There's another Walgreens about two blocks northwest there on Broadway, as well.
If you go south, you will be on a road lined with businesses (Sheffield), flanked with residenial neighborhoods. If you go east, it's more overall residential/office, but it does put you closer to Lakeshore Drive and the harbor, if that interests you.
I have dropped a note to sunow - please note that there are no families present here at O'Brian's... just the survivors for our game.
