Topic: A Local Legend - An Audalis Short Adventure
Subject: Isilmiri

Of course, the feelings of the villagers mattered, Isilmiri thought to herself as she listened to all that was going on about her. These people had learned to live with the deprivations of the raids of the outsiders and now felt threatened by what the adventurers had in mind, even though, for their own part, it was hopefully to help the villagers.

However, the old adage seemed to hold sway in this situation. Better the devils they knew than the unknown outcome of the adventurers' interference.

Isilmiri makes eye contact with Ocyari and nods at the words she spoke though she adds nothing of her own at this point.

I think it s a viable alternative to 8 wasted hours out here. Perhaps I can find out more information there as well

Guard perhaps while we wait here until my horse is brought, you can tell me what is of interest in Badon, In whaqt direction does it lie, and how long will it take a good horse to get there.

Response Alexandria OR Lorae

"Oh, by-the-way, take a look at all the blacksmith's daughter has brought fo rus to look over. These are the stuffed winter garments that she says are sovereign againgst the winter cold of the mountains."

Brianna points over to the garment laid out at the nearby table. "Prices are marked on them. They are surprisingly light for how bulky they looks. I bought a long tunic and overpants. A hood with neckl wrap as well. I am thinking about some boot sock as well."

"Choose and we need to get on the way."

"Devon has asked to travel with us. I told him to wait until we had all gathered.

Trillion looked at Selunine, "Yes wherever we decide to go you will need some form of transportation. Though my war horse could easily carry both of us but you will be more comfortable on a horse of your own as soon as we can find a dealer in horses. Until then we will avail ourselves of the good Father's offer. While I wish to return here to continue my study of the Ten sided hall and the story od Melios" Trillion replies.

S"o what do you want to do wait or go to Badon and now."

"Count me in," replies Isilmiri. She gathers her pack and heads out of the inn into the morning. There were things to do information to discover. Yes they were strangers yes they were not of this village and they would perhaps meet with the same reticence as the innkeeper had.

Tamuril thinks talking to the smith would give them the answers they needed but Isilmiri thought they might get the best information out of a woman, a woman with a child who wanted a future for her child.

Trillion catches the pouch neatly one-handed and holds up her other hand to stop the good father before he takes off. She had questions.

"Wait a moment Father, just how long would I have to wait before worship is over? Also I need someone to bring me my warhorse and his tack, I left him at the stable of the Golden Chalice Inn. I will not leave without him."

To the gate guard Trillion asks. "Is there a place outside the walls where travelers to this city can wait for the end of the worship period." Trillion requests the information. "Surely you must have such accommodation."

Looking over to Selunine. "I am sorry, I knew nothing about this when I left to find you."

Bronwyn had gone out shortly after Elendil left she had beg the use of a basket form the kitchen to gather some herbs and other natural ingredients for her potions. She would make her Grandmother's sovereign ointment for cuts and scrapes and minor burns. It was not magical, but a natural compound of herbs that would at least be affordable to a more customers.

Guards now patrolled the area, not a lot but Bronwyn wouldn't go far, being uncertain about the safety of the surroundings with goblins still about. She kept her wand of Magic Missiles in her basket so she could grab it quick.

Bronwyn returned after a bit of success with some wild onions, garlic, wintergreen and bay leaf. herbs equally good for cooking as for her ointments. She spotted some of the others, who had taken up Lord Bart's invitation, the drow, the human girl, and the two men but not the gnome were all together. They had all accepted the invitation toi Lord Bart's Order of the Sacred Rose.

Bronwyn lifter her hand in greeting and waved to them hoping to get a chance to get to know them better but they seemed to be very focused on whatever they were doing and saying. Bronwyn waited for a moment but then Bronwyn let her hand drop a bit self-consciously to the basket as if that is what she meant to do the whole time.

They must be very busy, Bronwyn thought as she moved on by. Still she did offer them a shy smile and a nod as she headed towards the kitchens. She couldn't help but think that they were talking about which one of those missions Lord Bart spoke of last night they might undertake.

"Smiles are free to give, Bron." her Grandmother always told her, "They don't cost you a thing and bring rich rewards."

Well Then about your request, I have no problem with you joining us on the trail. What say you, Xuor? We have lost a few and gain a few but one more won't make much difference."

Brianna had no problem at all with another joining them as they traveled. It would certainly be safer for Devon at least.

"Do you have a mount?" ever practical Brianna asks. Devon would never keep up with them walking. There was her red mare who currently wasn't being ridden.

Bronwyn had a alchemist lab from the start, it weighs 50 lbs, and it costs 500 gp. IT was carried in the packs on Buttercup.

I posted on 2/3 for Bronwyn that had most of that information in it at least her speaking to Bart about working here for now. She asked Lord Bart for a space to work while she waited for Elendil's return She is going to try to see if she can make a living here. In others words, would there be a market for her potions and other magics. I just have to find out what and how to make them and how long it takes. Anyone know off hand?

"Monsters from the sea. I have never heard of them harassing those who live on land," response Isilmiri after the innkeeper had finished. "Now, what I can't understand is why you do not want help to rid yourself of these creatures."

It wasn't that she did not hear the innkeepers plea that they leave, she had, butshe could not leave these people with this problem without trying to help them.

Isilmiri watched her companions for their reactions hoping to discover what they would do. Her keen eyes missed nothing but it was not the same as hearing their words.

"There is nothing left here, save the ocean soaked wood, and the few blankets lost can be replaced. Let us leave this place soon, I have smelled the salt of the sea quite long enough."

Trillion could understand th woman’s need to leave this area of such tragedy. She decided she would return later to take care of the dead, and see if there was anything she might find that might Selunine or that she could use since all others had been lost.

“Yes of course, I understand.” Trillion does not sense Selunine's reserve she places her response as an outcome of the tragedy she has recently suffered. She casts Tensor’s Floating Disk which of course was unseen but she takes out a winter blanket from her haversack, it was right there at her hand. Folding it Trillion lays it over the disk.

“If you will just sit here it will carry you easily enough you are you little friend. I will stop short of the city and then we can walk in. I think I will have to find a mount spell for times like these,” she says, usually, my horse is with me. Unfortunately, I left him behind when I hurried here. She keeps her disguise ring on but unseen wings carry her close to the ground and the disk follows her no more than three feet off the ground.

Trillion is genuinely open with Selunine, about who and what she was not that she broadcasts, nor limits her use when her ability to fly in needed as it had been today. However, she also realized This woman had seen her flying in. Something she will have to remember and stay invisible until she was on the ground.

Though, I do know that with YeOlde being absentee since the winter holidays and the disappearance of Philsopher again unexplainable those MIA's have it several active games each.

Of course I am still here and active but them I am retired and fortunately my retirement funds are safe from the economic woes.

I also think the economic woes is a problem for many.

"My compliments to the chef. The elf woman, Lorae isn't it? She seems like a nice person. I've only known her for a very short time and she's earned my respect and admiration already." He takes a bite of his meal, and waits til his mouth is clear.

Brianna looks up as Devon speaks, not sure she heard what she did. the she simple chortles with unsuppressed mirth, "Lorae? The cook?" she ask incredulously after she stopped laughing. Where did yu get that idea? Lorae is our Paladin, not the cook."

"As for Tilverton, that is what is being told by many The city of Tilverton is a huge hole in the ground and anyone trying to go there to find out what happens disappears. The Purple Knights and War Mages are guarding the place and allowing no one near it. Anyway that is what we heard." Did you have family there? if so then I am sorry to inform you of this."

"There are no other survivors," Selunine responded cooly, watching Trillion, that she had been the only passenger on the ship was not information she needed to share just yet. "I thank you for your offer, Trillion Starheart. I am Selunine Lhianna'anei. Is there a city nearby? I need the talents of a healer, and food and shelter would be a welcome addition." She stared up at Trillion again, studying her face as she awaited a response.

Well met, Selunine Lhianna'anei. As you need for healing, I have a wand of healing that I can use, if you will permit me to .” Trillion offers the young woman. Trillion could not observe her more closely Her coloring form and features as well as her violet eyes ware oall traits of elven kind her silken raiment added to Trillions estimation that she was elven as well. Selunine was exotically beautiful in the way most viewed elven kind . As for the city nearby yes there is the Holy City of Alimar. It is not too far off and I can get us back there quickly enough.

Trillion takes out her wand of cure light and just holds it for a bit. “I also have a few cantrips that can mend you dress and clean you up. If it is you wish I will use those as well.” Trillion knew some people were wary about magics being used on them. Though she sought to present a quiet friendly demeanor what held her in better stead was the aura of good that radiated naturally from her.

With Selunine’s permission, Trillion will use her wand of Cure Light wounds twice and then cast her cantrips that clean and mend.

“Have you found any of your belonging in the wreckage yet?” asks Trillion. “I can help you search for them.”

Elendil returned to the space they had arranged their bedrolls and few personal belongs. Bronwyn did have her carefully pack alchemist lab with her.

When Elendil explained that she was leaving Bronwyn felt a pang of loss of her one friend here in this place. But she would not hold the elf woman back from doing what she had to do. She smiles, as best as she could, and said, "That's fine with me. I will see if the Lord will let me set up my lab and I can make some potions. IF I can get enough sales to make this viable, then fine, but if not I will be ready to move on with you. Goddesses bless you and keep you safe. I will look forward to your return.

Bronwyn smiles though close observation may reveal that it doesn't reach her eyes and it seem a bit uncertain quivering a bit as Bronwyn tries keep smiling.

Bronwyn prepared for sleep and climbed into her bedroll, but sleep did not come easily rather in bit and pieces. When Elendil rose early in the morning she was awake still but did not stir or say anything. What was there to day that she had not already said? Elendil moved off on stocking feet not to wake her. Bronwyn listens until she couldn't hear any more footsteps and then curled up feeling very alone.

It was later in the morning she awoke--well not that late, but later than was her normal waking hour. She had used some of her money for spell components and things she needed to make potions from the weird little merchant, Finn who had arrived so strangely in their midst. She would like to know that trick.

Bronwyn set off to find out where she might be able to set up her lab, and make arrangements for some sort of living quarters for now. Sleeping on the hard stone floor would just not do for any length of time. She heads of to the keep's kitchen. Cooks and assistants had arrived and taken over her self-appointed position she had given herself that first day. Perhaps there was still some cold porridge left over from breakfast. It was good when it got all congealed and you could cut a piece and toast in on a fork over a fire, with a bit of honey to spread on top it was a favorite of hers.

Once the kitchens she is respectful to the chief cook the Kitchen is their domain. It is always good to be on the right side of the one who ran the kitchen, be they large or small. They were the Lord or Lady of their own territory and woe to the person who did not know this to be true and treated as a servant.

Bronwyn had been taught good manners, by her grandparents and Magda. Magda said it was important for when she got her own place as a court mage. Magda had taught her as much about courts and proper courtly etiquette as magic.

Then Bronwyn went looking for Lord Bartholomew and made her request for a place at least until Elendil came back.

"Lord Bartholomew” I do really appreciate you asking me to stay. While Elendil is gone I am going to try to see if I can make this work out. I need to know I can make a living from my work.

"Ghosts." Isilmiri says with a sure conviction that what she said was right. That what this is about, isn't it." Isilmiri had put 1 and 1 together. The innkeepers very denial yesterday of the stories around here. The state of this village, the attack that left a man drained of vitality without a mark on him.

"You don't have to tell us, Ocyari, especially if you promised not to. Isilmiri turns to the innkeeper. " We are not your ordinary group adventurers. We are not all out here just for wealth or fame."

Looking around to the others, she can see their eyes and she knows them well enough to figure what they would want to do in this situation . As for Brother Perrin, he may be new to their group but he had already spoken clearly about what he thought of the matter.

"You," she states empathically "should tell us."

Isilmiri is appalled by the story that is told of the villager attacked last night. The villagers are quite rightly upset, but Isilmiri is not sure about what they are planning to do about it. Chasing about all over the after something evil perpetrator might muddy up the trail that would lead to the guilty party. However they had the right to do so but....

isilimir appreaciated Brother Perrin's sentaments but first things first.

"Brother Perrin, is there anything you might do for the unfortunate man? Then we need to look into who committed this atrocity and left the man to die." Isilmiri responses

Looking around the table, Isilmiri gauges various reaction of the companions to the sotry they heard. They were all good folk and she figured they would help these villiagers out. This attack certainly was something out of the ordinary. It disturbed her a bit but she couldn't put her finger on what it was that did. But she would She wouldn't let the problem die she had a tendency to work on such things until the truth was discover or revealed.

Ocyari seemed pensive too, Isilmiri was about to ask her what she was thinking of when she sighed, stood up and, walked over to the bartender.

"Will you tell them, or shall I? It sounds like we might be involved now anyway." Ocyari asks softly.

That caught Isilmiri's attention though she just waited patiently for whatever it was that Ocyari wanted them to hear. She must nods to Ocyari after she makes eye contact..

Devon greet Lorae question and response with his name.

"He is lost and looking for Tiverton," Brianna looks pointly at Lorae.

"Devon, You can wash up just off the kitchen the innkeeper has a bowl and pitcher of water and fresh towels." Brianna offers Devon that bit of information, "Then come join us<" she adds as he walks off in the direction she pointed out to him. "Come on Xuor, I think we well deserve our breakfast."

Devon walks off and Brianna shrugs to Lorea. "I think you would be better at explaining the situation about Tilverton better than I could."

When Devon returns Brianna is talking to Lorae. "Oh and think either your and/or the drow's skills might be needed. The blacksmith's youngest child fell ill last night and is still sick. His oldest girl in coming here with some winter wear. I thought we might look at before we head over the mountains. She can lead you back to see if you can help their child."

Trillion flys toward where she saw the wave crashed into the forest but without any firm land marks final resting place is may be in slightly different location carried by the wave further than she first saw it. The wings carried her swiftly over the tree tops she kept looking for signs of damaged tree or debris.

Climbing hgh to get a better look fTrillion located signs of some shattered tree tops and finally wreckage in the forest and began to spiral down hoping to find and aid any survivors. The size of the ship certainly could mean that there was possibly 20-30 crew and passengers on it. However she only see one searching in the wreckage, perhaps trying to find other survivors.

As Trillion approached she could see a woman, certainly by her dress, Trillion drips her invisibility and the descends. The woman turn up to regard her so Trillion landed close but not to close t her. Trillion folded her wings behind her and activated her disguise ring again almost as second nature. She noted that the young woman was quite beautiful but showing the signs wear and tear due to her recent unfortunate occurrence.

"I am Trillion Starheart. Can I help you?" Trillion looks around the area but all she sees right off is the young woman and a dog and not other sign of life. "Are the other survivors in need of assistance?"

When Devon looked into Brianna’s eyes she could see his eye widen momentarily as if started. Moments later the his focus shifted to somewhere other than her eyes and finally completely to Xuor. Brianna sighed, she had seen this reaction before. Those strange golden eyes were her one trait that she shared with her father and part of the reason she believed he was her father when she finally met him in person.

She had met her father one day not too long ago only to lose him shortly. Well he exactly wasn't lost she was, thrown to somewhere where no one knows anything about the world she came from. Sadness crept into her face and then quickly was gone she shook her head as if to shake off the unwanted emotion. What cannot be changed must be endured.

The blacksmith return with hammer and nails to finish the last shoe. Brianna paid him from her purse. She really had more money than she knew what to do with it and so added a generous tip because he had opened so early for her and also for his good work he did. She admired a man who to pride in his work.

"Thank you, Miss. Might you still be considering those stuffed clothes my wife makes for the cold weather. She couldn't get back to the inn yestereve, our youngest sicked up bad. I can have my oldest girl bring them over since the little one is still ill."

Brianna turns to the blacksmith, "Certainly, have her come to the inn, my friends should be up by now If not I will kick them awake." She also decided that she will talk to Lorae and see if she will help sick youngster. Lorae had a soft spot for children and animals.

"Well, Xuor, Devon, our business is done here Lets go back to the Inn and breakfast. Xuor , I will take these horses,” she says as she gathers up Lorae and Vatta's mounts and her red mare. You take the rest perhaps Devon will help you. I'm hungry.” Brianna walks over to the black stallion leading her red mare and two other leaving the rest for Xuor to bring with him, including his own horse. She undoes her stallion’s lead rope then places on hand on his back and vaults effortlessly from the ground to the back of the tall horse that had no saddle or bridle on it. With just a lead roap to guide him, she sets him to a walk back towards the inn.

A chill breeze blows her hair and if it were not caught back it would have swirled around her like a red banner.

One look and the horse and rider and you knew that Brianna belonged on the back of a horse with the wind in her hair and weapons in her hand. You could just see it. Her whole demeanor just lit up once she mounted. She was complete now, where she was meant to be.
