Subject: Arianna

Arianna moves to the side and out of the path of the others. She draws no weapon but stands ready in case things go from bad to worse. IT surprised her to see how many of her new companions drew weapons and were ready to use them. especially the bard.

It is not her way to interfere in the actions of others especially when she didn't know who was in the right or who was in the wrong. She did note that the Dwarf was out numbered in this and so she was ready to intervene if he got ganged up on.

Eldarwen gained entrance inoto the village after a bit of discussion at the gate. Howe4ver her pass in was the emblem of the King's ranger on the amulet she wore. Wldarwen passed on the news that she had about the invasion by the Duke's forces and the taking of the city which was unprepared to defend itself. She did not know if the Palace had fallen or not though as she ws outside the city in the forest trying as best as she could with her fellow rangers to stem the tide of the enemy destroying the forest.

They directed her to the local inn and Eldarwen headed there after her report to the guards. Once inside she found a few customers gathered at table. looked to the old man in white robes. She moved to an empty table with the long strides more suited to the outdoors than the common room of and in but still she navigated the tables and chairs with the grace of her race.

Eldarwen is tall for a maiden elf, long of limb though almost delicate in appearance is di bely a wiry strength much in keeping with her life path as a ranger. A beautiful composite elven bow what strung and hung over her shoulder, with one full quiver on her hip and another less full on her back. A long sword and dagger completed her weapons that were visible except for the quarterstaff she carried of finely grained ash wood about 6 feel long and almost 2 inches in diameter. IT served her well for most things.

As she enter the venerable onl man in white robes made a comment of how three were nt four, and the prophecy being fulfilled. Eldarwen looked around to identify who or what he was talking about but nothing really caught her eye except the party with the old man in white robes. They were four very different people, different also in race and age.

Eldarwen decided that he was talking to them and it had nothing to do with her. So she sat at s table closer to the to the fire and well away from those four. She didn't need to hear anything about any prophecy. Eldarwen was very tired and would eat lightly tonight and then seek her rest. Eldarwen motioned a serving girl over and order a light supper, stew, bread, and a glass of wine.

"I should like a room for the night if you have one available. If not I can sleep on the floor of the common room."

Eldarwen had been on the move all day running and hiding every since the Duke;s forces and attack the forest cutting and burning. She had done what she could firing from cover at the scouts and patrols to stop them but she had eventually attracted unwanted attention from the many patrols. She set out for the closest town of any size, which was Bree, to carry word of the overthrow in the city. The citizens had not expected such an attack and were unprepared to deal with the invasion.

Eldarwen planned carry the news to Bree then move on. Coming to the shut gates, she knock and waited until someone came. If they would not let her in so be it but at least she could warn them.

"I have news from the capital."

Subject: Arinna

Before leaving the city Arianna shared what she had with Liriel so that she could get proper clothes and winter blanket to protect her from the cold. She made several suggestions to the others gathering for this mission about how to layer their clothes, to waterproof her boots with mink oil and wax melted over the seams, and too made a poncho-like garment of oiled canvas to shed water and wet snow that could serve line a tent or ground cover as needed.

Arianna Even song moved along with the others but her chosen path took her out and about checking around. With the forest already showing the effects of winter many animals had left for warmer climes. others sought hibernation as a way to pass the coldest of the winter months, though there were wnough that continued their busy lives finding food, and shelter even in these coldest of months.

THE journey's pace ws not quick so she had time to look into things. SHe hunted what she could to help with provisions.

When Gunther mention the town ahead and how they could push on for it in the dark., she said nothing because whether they moved on ot stopped really didn't matter to her. But since they were all getting use to each other she thought it only courteous to tell them at least that much.

"It doesn't matter to me, I am not tired and I see well in the dark, but it really depends on the others who are not so use to traveling long and hard." She looks especially at Liriel, who by her own admission was use to sleeping in beds in inn, "The worst thing when it is cold is to get overtired. It depletes the body resources faster and makes one more susceptible to the cold.

"So whoever is tired and needs to stop you need to let the others know this."

Subject: Bronwyn

It was a real toss up who was most surprised when the fireblal went off incinerating goblins and a fiery blast, Bronwyn or the goblins. Her eyes opened as wide as an elf’s, as she stared mesmerized by the erupting ball of flame. It worked spectacularly. Bronwyn suddenly began to feel sick to her stomack and the carnage that resulted from her spell. She bit her lips to save herself from the ignominy of throwing up all over herself.. She tool several great gulps of air and held her hand over her mouth. It seemed to help her a bit and the queasiness subsided.

Bronwyn hoped that Fate got in there but she watched with consternation as the goblins began shutting the gates. That was not good she thought to herself. He will be stuck in there with no way out. Not that she was ready to follow him in or anything like that but perhaps they could slow the goblins down a bit and give him a chance to make it out.

“We have to do something to stop that gate from closing. Shoot the goblins..” The neophyte mage called out to the Elendil. And she prepared another spell this time her Magic Missile spell and she moves to target one of the bigger orcs if she can, if not goblins, her spell will give her three missiles. If it is an orc she uses all three in him or a gnoll, if goblins then one for each one.

The Arcane words of the spell come easily to her lips and she focused on her targets. Her hands weave in the well-practiced gestures and then she releases the spell sending it on it way. Three sparks of energy raced forth from her fingers into the night towards those trying to close the gate.

Then Bronwyn moves her position she knew that someone’s sharp eyes might catch where she has loosed the missiles from and she didn’t want to stay in that area.

Siliwen waited until she ws second to the last to go. She had already removed her backpack and was ready to sling it on the rope separately so that all she had to do was pull her own weight across.. While not the strongest she was also the lightest of them all. She tie the end of her rope to herself and made a loop about the rope leading to the far side. Hooking a her legs over the rope she used her hands to pull herself along.

Carefully she moved along hand over hand keeping th3e rope in the crook of her knees. Finally she drew near the far side and hands reached down to pull her to safety.

"Thanks you," Siliwen offered those who helped her get across. She then slipped her backpack on and took up her rope and recoiled it and packed it away. IT gave her a little time to prepare herself.

"Ready" she said as she consulted the pointer on her wrist. "That way unless we need to take a more circuitous route but I don't know as if we have that much extra time."

Inga watched Sgt. Lee stirred and then attempt to sit up. Inga bit off the less polite words that rose first to his mind as he started in about his Fricking sword.".

"Sgt. Lee, Don't undo all the work I put in on you. Besides, we dropped that creature before we left there." Inga said, though she knew there was no use to tell him he was being stupid about going back there now for his sword. Neither would she tell him he wasn't cleared for active duty just yet, in her medical opintion. He wasn't nor was Pweaon and she included herself as well but the bottom line ws that they were all Rangers and could and would work even in extremity. THey all would do what had be be done. Only, in her opinion, getting that sword back did not count high on Inga's list of necessary actions.

Pearson offered his two cents worth as well. Inga just shook her head at them both and glanced over to Lt. Kienan. Waiting for him to set them straight.

Despite her good intentions about not saying anything. she failed to keep out of Lee's and Pearson's self-proclaimed readiness to go back their and get some payback. Those two were feeding off each other.

Inga turns to look at them both with glacial blue eyes,

"Oh fine, you two just go ahead and give that a try. You might make it back there if you leaned against each other or maybe crawled there. Then I can have the joy of practicing on you yet again. All I need is you to undo all the work I put in on you and start internal bleeding all over again. Sgt. Lee how many fingers am I holding up (Inga is holding 0 fingers up)

Brianna turns back when she hears Xuor's call out to her. He can see a welcoming smile on her face as she pauses to wait for him

"Sure, Come on, Glad of the company."

As soon as Xuor is even with her she stride off, nothing to fast though but the stride of a person used to walking.

The main street of the town spread on two sides of the road though the town. The was a common area off to one side and a road that lead up to it and around it and cross the main road. Kitty-corner to the common area was a rather solidly constructed building with a sign in front "Dry Goods".

"That looks promising." she points over to the stare. "It should have what we might want or perhaps know somewhere we can find whatever it doesn't carry."

Brianna was confortable with Xuor. Her was a straight-forward man and had proven to be a good companion. She had meet enough men in her life that definitely were not the same caliber. Her only true male friends were few and far between.

Pillow friends did not count. Brianna could count them on the fingers of one of her hands and not even count her thumb. First was Jerril in the Forbidden Isles, then there was Logan, Then Highnar, Two were now dead and one was gone, Fourth was Xuor and had ask to join them on their quest.

Briianna stepped up the stairs that lead to a porch about the building. The doors stood at the corner. She entered and Looked about. Dry good of all sorts were stacked against the walls on shelves,, barrels of other good covered the floor a dlong :-shaped counter extended the length and breath of the shop near the back and side walls.

A woman behind the counter asked. "May I help you"

Brianna turned and replied, "Yes Mistress, I have some things I would like to know if you have for our journey."

Moving forward she reaches the counter behind which the woman is standing"I am looking for provisions for tout journey but something other than just trail rations, I would like dried meat, dried fruit, root vegetables, wheat flour, sugar, salt, pepper. leavening for bread, or a bread starter. honey and/or perhaps some fruit preserves. Some oats or barley for porridge, too. Also I need some first aid supplies. bandages, salves, lint, antitoxins if you have any of the magical kind."

THE woman may have been of average size but along side of Brianna she looked like a youth except that her face had the matureity of a grown woman.

As Fate left and Elendil keep up a whispered count "4..5..6..7..8..9," Bronwyn intoned the words of the spell and executed all its gestures with a flurish. As Elendil sounded "..10." Bronwyn released the spell where it would deal the most damage, right in the middle of the largest group of the goblins and such that she could see.

Bronwyn listened to what Fate and Elendil were talking about. WHen Fate first suggested that she perhaps could help him out she thought that if she had memorized Invisibility that she could have helped him out with that , only she hadn't. Elendil's idea

Elendil then mentioned that she could start a fire butFate mentined something about her. Bronwyn, doing something magical. She had never thought about using her magics in combat so she hadn't even occurred to her that she might be able to help him out. Her mind set did not see the possibility of that spell being use in that way.

She had memorized fireball. She looked at the grouped goblins and saw what he had seen.

"Ahhhhh..... I have fireball memorized. I guess I could use it on those goblins over there if you really wanted me to." Bronwyn offers hesitantly.

Subject: Geim

Geim caught a quick glimpse of Loda joining the three dwarven males rushing ahead.

"That's a fine Lass," he called out on the run. Geim planned to hit any incoming orcs low and try tripping them up. If he could damage knees or ankles all the better. A swift kick to a knee joint should incapacitate or certainly slow down their opponent. However he would risk being cut off from the others as their numbers gave them some protection. He would like to get in a few good punches too. Hit and run so to speak.

Geim sizes up the movements of their opponents, looking for weak spots, knew a punch in the family jewels could be a debilitating. Dirty tactics to be sure, which, right now suited him just fine.

"Trip them, Kick 'em in the knees. Punch them where it hurts. That's our strategy."

Brianna looks back at the group as she is about to walk out of the inn.

"Anybody need anything while I am shopping. You can come with me orjust tell me what you want. I daresay I have enough money to cover most anything you might want or need for now. I will give you an accounting later. Last chance." she calls out as she opens the doors with a jaunty step.

Once outside with whatever anyone adds to her shopping list, you can hear her exclaim. "Where have you been you naughty little scamp" while flutter of rich red lands on her shoulder, and with a quick wrapped of its tail about her neck she strides off the doors closing behind her.

If one's eyesight is quite good they might see the diminutive form of a dragon, all glittering red like a gem perched on her shoulder. Those that know Brianna assume correctly it is her companion Flame. Those that don't see clearly might wonder what it is.

Brianna sets out to check out what the town can supply. Stable food stuffs, such as flour, salt, pepper, and sugar or honey. dried meats, fruits and vegetables like root vegetable that will keep if pack down deep in a backpack. like turnips, beets. carrots, parsnips, potatoes too. She is also looking for rolled oats and grain to make porridge.

Brianna looks for a general store or what passes for one in these parts.

Brianna looks every each the Amazon warrioress. Her twin long swords hand is an X across her back. She wears a fine mithril chain shirt, bracers, and greaves, though she left the her helmet in her bag. Her magic quiver contained her longbow and arrows and several javelins. The big dwarven war ax she picked up recently hangs on an "O" ring on her right hip. However she was not looking for trouble just goods for their trip.

Subject: Bronwyn--Rescue Gone Awry

Bronwyn tried to get a good look at who they had rescued. Did she but know it it just made her eyes look owlish as she tried to see in the dark of the forest.

“As the man looks up at his would be rescuers, Elendil mentions the need to move quickly, but the man grabs her by the arm and holds her firm catching her eye. “You shouldn’t have freed me. Now I’ll never get near enough to Bolikar to kill him. I don’t know what you ladies think you’re doing playing hero but you’re likely to get yourselves killed out here.” The man gives a shrill whistle and released Elendil’s arm. From the skies shot a streak across the moon and into the clearing came a hawk, its feathers a rich brown save for the single golden tuft of feathers just above the tail. Swooping down in front of the figure, the bird dropped a set of keys, before landing on his shoulder, where he petted it affectionately.

“I guess that means we don’t get a thank you for our rescueing you.” she says a bit disheartened that her first rescue turned out to be a bad thing—at least for this man.

“You could bet back into the cage and I could mend it if you wanted me to.” Bronwyn interject sharply then she sniffs which totally negates the tone of her voice. She is not good at being commanding or demanding or anything like that.

“I could have gotten out at any time,” the man reiterates dangling the keys. “But what’s done is done, and this place is not safe. Let us make haste.” is all he says.

“Don’t forget Buttercup.” Bronwyn adds quickly. Elendil by some strange means finds her way back to where Buttercup is standing quietly with her head down lipping some grass though she cannot eat anything with that strap about her nose.

“Poor Buttercup, you are going to have to have that on until we are far away from here,” commiserates Bronwyn. Buttercup was her lifeline to her past, a simpler and gentler time without this constant threat of dangers all about her.

Bronwyn gives her stout pony a comforting pats her and then unties her lead rope and follows the others staying closed to them as they move.

Some days were harder than others, the solid walls of her cell closed in on her while her spirit wanted to soar free. Those were some of the worst days, when she remembered and longed for her freedom. The black days of her memory were the first days of captivity when she realized that there would be no justice for her with these people, Her soul and heart had railed at their stupidity, their unjust laws that condemned a person for being born of a different place. It made not difference to them that she was a good person and meant them no harm and that her only desire was to find a way home. She had remained composed by will alone and her belief that she would be freed eventually. That much hope she had been given by the Giant Dwarf that had spoken to a group of prisoners shortly after they arrive in the slave pens.

Days had passed, weeks months, Her only freedom was battling the Black-hooded Guards in the arena. Always she told them she served a good Deity her being here was an accident, Even repeated that it was unjust to hold her in captivity just for being in their lands. Not that it made any difference to them. And thus it was that she did what she could to make them pay for their crimes, did they but know it. Even with blunted weapons she did not pull her blows. The one thing that was for the good was that she knew she was stronger and faster now than she was before.

The worst part was the loneliness and the isolation from any contact other that the guards. Her spirits would sink so low with not light of the sky, no sound of birds or wind in the trees. In those dark times she turned to the Light to help her banish the darkness from her spirit. She held fast to the tenets of her faith even when she was at her lowest. As a child she had learn that the Light was present in everything that was, whether you know it or not, all was made of the Essence of the Light. The Light was, is and ever shall be. Amberlyn clung to that simple belief with a tenacity that would not be shaken.

This day Amberlyn sat quietly in her solitary cell. She has recently been returned to it after another training session in the Dark Arena. She had stripped and cleaned up then slipped on that shapeless sleeveless garment with its sole adornment of a logo in black that symbolized her captivity of almost 5 months. She repeated by memory the 12 rules of the Code of Conduct for the Warriors of the Light. Those holy warriors that serve the Light, her Deity. After she repeated the Code of Conduct, she stood and drew a circle on the floor of her cell and stepped into it. Her own circle of light. Had she not been able to draw it it would have made no difference to the Light. Whether she stood, or sat, or crawled on her hands and knees, none of those would make any difference to the Light. However, it made a difference to Amberlyn who would meet her Deity standing on her two feet with her head high.

“Light, you know my soul and heart, you know my desires. I pray for the strength to keep my head up, my spirits high, , my arm strong, so that I may serve you as best as I possibly can. We have been recently chosen to make a team for the coming Emancipation Dance,” she added this last part because it meant so much to her. “It is my hope to win my freedom and find away to return to my home. Let be be just in my dealings with all, let me be merciful whenever I can. Let fear be recognized by put aside when right needs doing. Let be be honest in my dealings with others and speak the truth even when others do not care.”

They had met with the Giant Dwarf again and a group of them had been chosen for the coming battle to fight against the other teams for freedom. They had been allowed to work together for the first time. Amberlyn knew that she, the other knight and the giant dwarf would be the front line of their fighting groups. She looked at the fighting styles of the other, one was a wizard she they would have to be protected. One elven young woman fought with her hands alone at most a quarterstaff.

Amberlyn couldn’t help but begin to plan on how to use their strengths and weaknesses to their best advantage. Of course, a lot depended on who and what they faced--so many unknowns and so much depending on them.

“Light guide me.”

Amberlyn stands and communes silently with her Deity taking strength from his tenants.

I am still very interested in the game, my last week ahas been fraught with the losst of a dear frien and memoerial tribute last week and a funeral today necessitating several long trips to get to them.

Anyway we are back this afternoon and this is what I have to say about what is going on and what is not. LOda and Valimar haven't posted in a long time, Alyssia is gone the group is down to only a few posting players that makes it a bit harder on us, but it is nothing we can't handle WE have some very good players left in the group.

Geim had grown on me--and not like a boil, or a pimple.--but as an interesting complex "little" man. Don't tell him I said Little. Certainly after all we have been through to get this far I certainly don't want it to end like this. I do have to agree with Kaelyn that your post brought us to a point where it wasn't so much our move but the orcs move first that we needed to respond to. I sort of felt adrift without much to say or do but give my warning about the nature of the game.

By the way if you start up you other game I would like to be considered for it.

I think this is sort of a rough patch we need to work through and find out why Jozan1 hasn't posted in forever and is valimar will be back eventually. I am good to go.
