Just read your latest post in the roleplay and you said you wondered how much you can move and attack in the same turn in D&D.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you can move a maximum 30ft in one round (of course, terrain plays a part in this. If it's rough/rocky terrain or thick with plants/undergrowth etc, the movement length can be restricted). 30ft when walking normally, 60ft when dashing. But you can't attack and dash on the same turn. But you can walk and attack on the same turn.
Did I get that right, people? Lol.

Thäoran's thin brows lowered as his arrow missed the wretched goblin. Emitting a sharp sigh, he once again nocked an arrow and again waited for Soledad's fireball to go first before he let loose his shaft so his missile wasn't turned to ash by the witch's flame. He then aimed at the goblin and fired, hoping this time either his or Soledad's attack found their mark...

Thäoran waited a second or two so Soledad's fireball would reach the goblin first so his (Thäoran's) arrow wouldn't collide with the flames and burn up. Then the elf readied his bow, took careful aim and let the shaft fly towards the scout perched upon the rocks.

Thäoran gazed up at the two watchful goblin scouts perched on the mountain ahead of them, his cat-like eyes narrowing slightly as he thought how best to proceed. After a moment's consideration, he turned to the group and proposed a plan:
'If the two scouts Silver saw are the only ones on watch, then we outnumber them which is, of course, to our advantage. However, we cannot know for sure if they truly are the only two up there because in order to see more, we would have to venture further out which would be, of course, risking exposure and discovery, the two things we are trying to avoid. So we will just have to do what we can with what we can see. I propose several of us target the same scout, while the rest target the other. Having more than one attacking the same goblin will increase the chances of one of us felling it. I will strike at the one perched upon the rocks with my bow. Who will join me in attacking the same one? We should decide who is attacking which, then split into two groups. What say the rest of you?'
Thäoran waited patiently for the group's response while drawing his bow from its white oak tube that laid across his narrow back.

My elf can cast Minor Illusion. My spell slots have all been restored after that rest we had. But I'd rather save that spell for when (if) we encounter a larger group of goblins and we need a hasty retreat. I think Thäoran will use his bow instead.

Sorry I haven't been posting. The site has been down for me for the past week or so. Then I had further bad luck with my internet. We had a storm and the internet guy said rainwater must have gotten into the wi-fi box thing and messed it up so we had wi-fi on and of for a few days.

What if we stab our swords/axes deep into the ice so they're firmly stuck in and use them as handles to hold onto to help keep us from slipping/falling? Like a makeshift ice spike climbers use to climb mountains.

Subject: Spells and all that Witchery
Question about spells
Because this is a freeform D&D RP, can we make up our own spells, or do they have to be actual D&D official (if that makes sense). As in, do we have to have actual D&D spells or can we homebrew our own?
Oh, and I agree with Jim. A synopsis of the plot would be helpful so we can write our characters' backgrounds to match up with the campaign plot.
You know, when you've done it. I might wait until you've thought of a plot before I submit my character ideas so I can write a full background. Still might PM some general ideas, though.

Thäoran approached the little Kender and nodded in greeting.
'Well met indeed, Lilly,' he smiled. 'I am Thäoran Ravenbrook, at your service. I hail from the great forest of ((OOC: Nomad, what's the elven forest called?)). I am an Eldritch Knight and was a General in the elven army, but I secured permission from my queen to set out upon this quest to locate my missing father who was snatched from the edges of the forest while on patrol, presumably by goblins, but I am not completely certain. I only hope that, wherever he may be, life still flows in his veins.' He paused as he briefly and unintentionally dwelled on the dreaded alternitive. Was his father still alive, or...? He shook his head slightly to dispel his dark thoughts and continued: 'Our party is currantly trying to locate two missing young farmers from the village of Botkinburgh,' the elf explained. 'Though, unfortunately, our efforts have not yielded any fruitful results thus far.' He turned back to his companions and said, a hint of concern colouring his voice,
'Boris, my friend, are you certain there isn't any other entrance into the Vargolg at all? Not even a hole or shaft we could get through? Because if not then I am at a loss at how we can proceed. As we all know, our last attempt almost destroyed us all. Yes, we have new allies now, but even with the extra assistance, I highly doubt we can force our way in through the front entrance. It is far too heavily guarded.' An idea suddenly sparked to life in his mind. 'If there are no other entrances, then perhaps we could make our own? Perhaps by tunneling into the Vargolg from the opposite side to the front entrance and boring through the rock?'

Thäoran felt somehow stronger after his rest, not just because his wounds had recovered, but something...more. Whatever it was, he welcomed it. He would need all the strength he could muster for this trying journey.
The elf's fine brow furrowed in response to Gerdar's foolish insistence that sneaking was unnecessary. The party had just barely survived being slain and now the dwarf wanted a repeat of that terrible encounter? Thäoran shook his head slightly in disapproval, but kept his mouth closed not wishing to anger his companion. Instead he adressed the party as a whole:
'I propose that we take up arms once again against the fiends that lurk in the Vargolg,' he began. 'But only if the situation requires it, for it will not be in our best interests to brave a frontal assult like last time. I'm in agreement with Hornet. We must attempt to infiltrate the enemy stronghold again, but this time stealth is of the essence, We need to try to locate a second entrance that our enemies would not expect us to enter through. I also agree with Dok. Meeting with our friend Borris could prove helpful as he may be able to assist us in our search for a second entrance. And, of course, we should express our thanks and gratitude for his help in the previous confrontation.'
