Quick question:
Are you allowed to give one of your weapons to another player?

I was thinking of giving one of my daggers to Tann's character (I assume that's who the half-elf is) because I take it he has no weapons at the moment. Can I do that?

Could you give me your characters' HP? That'll be helpful (Nomad's already done it). Cheers.

As for magic items, you may have them, but I'll have to approve them first. Don't want anything OP. So either ask in this thread or DM me with ideas you have for magic items.

Thäoran's aiming at the goblin holding the rope of the half-elf.

Subject: The Search Goes On...

Thäoran's emerald cat-like eyes narrowed slightly as a mixture of disappointment, sorrow and anger washed over him as he took a closer look at the rear prisoner. From close proximity, he could see the man's blood clearly wasn't pure. He was a hybrid of elven and human, a breed that Thäoran had always disapproved of. Nevertheless, he wasn't going to let his dislike deter him from the task at hand. Nocking an arrow into his pinewood bow, the elf aimed the shaft at the goblin holding the rope that was placed over the prisoners' necks. His target was the goblin's beady eye and he hoped, only being 20 feet away from the foul fiend, his aim would be true.

So...his father was yet to be found. Just before he let his arrow fly, the elf swallowed tightly as his old dread sank its icy claws into him, old questions rising once again: where was his father? Could Thäoran reach him in time? And the most chilling question of all...was his father even still alive...?

Pushing aside those troubling thoughts with some difficulty, the elf renewed his grip on his bow, took aim and loosed the arrow at the enemy who had no idea Thäoran was even there. Hopefully, the goblin would be felled before he could fully comprehend the situation and warn his fellows.

That's great and all, but is it possible for you to copy/paste that into a Word document and save it, then delete the one in the RPG? It's just we haven't started the campaign yet and I'd rather you post your actual character info first in the roleplay thread before you roleplay. Same with everyone else. That way we'll have everyone's character info posts together at the start of the roleplay.
Thank you!

((OOC: I'm going to help free the prisoners if that's okay))

Moving swiftly and using the approaching darkness of late evening to cover him, Thäoran headed towards the prisoners on as light a steps as he could muster. His eyes drifted the the prisoner at the rear, the one carrying a chest. Its figure was that of an elf and in his mind flared a wild hope. Could it be...? The father he had been seeking all this time? He had to find out. He took out one of the daggers he had picked up from the ground that Lilly had taken from the goblins and aimed to sneak behind one of the goblins that kept watch over the prisoners and kill it silently with a quick slice to its throat.

Welcome, adventurers. Before we begin, I'm going to give you a brief history of the world of Azrakha'an. I may update this, so please keep checking back!

_______________________________________________________
***In The Beginning***
Many different beliefs exist on how the world was created, depending upon which religion you followed.
~For the humans, they believe one god called Runevore created everything and tasked his angelic servents to maintain His creation.
~For the elves, they believe not in the gods. In their eyes, the world was created through a natural force and that fate and destiny willed the world into being, with magic (the natural essence of all things) flowing throughout and maintaining stability in the world. Thus, if one kind of magic becomes stronger than the others, it throws the natural order out of balance and chaos will surely follow. The elves believe all the races have a part to play in keeping this natural balance.
~For the dwarves, they believe in multiple gods, all governing over certain tasks, skills and domains. Angvar, king of the gods, rules over his siblings and keeps them in order. Magnari, god of fire, created the mighty dragons (with Thelvus' aid) and other beasts of flame as well as the volcanoes. Sílthri, goddess of water, gave life to the world by creating much needed bodies of water and all the creatures that call them home. Müngvarí, goddess of earth, made vast forests, woods, plains and mountains spread across the world and created all the creatures that lived there. Thelvus, god of air, along with Magnarí, created the dragons and other flying draconic beasts. He also commands storms and, along with Sílthri, drenches the land with strong rainstorms.
~For the dragons and dragonborn, two seperate draconic gods existed: the the evil Chromatic Dragons worship the dark god Tiamat and the Metallic dragons' god is Bahamut.

***************************************************
***A Brief History of Thesti'lia***
The elves, dragons and dwarves are the true inhabitants of this land. They have dwelled here since its founding. The humans sailed to the realm many centuries later, with tools, food and other goods that they traded with the races they found there. The humans settled in a place called Spireridge Valley, a small stretch of mountains with a wood, streams and small lake. The early humans made their living as traders and farmers, but over the years their influence and numbers spread. Nowadays, you can find humans in most any region of Thesti'lia, with the exception of a few areas that are closely guarded by the races that inhabit them (humans, for example, are forbidden to venture into the deeper parts of the elves' vast forest, nor are they permitted to travel to the more sacred areas of the dwarven mountains without permission).

The elves were once a single community, ruled by a single king and queen, but over the centuries differences of beliefs, ideals and other disagreements created a rift between them. Gradually, the race of elves split into two main groups: the surface elves and the drow. The former are, for the most part, benevolent, kind and believe in equality amongst all races. However, the drow see all other races as inferior and believe they (the elven race in general) are the true rulers of the land because of their nauturally strong connection to nature and magic. The surface elves and drow are ruled by a seperate royal family.

And it is these differering ideals and ways of life that drew them closer with the race of dragons, with the surface elves taking friendship of the more gentle Metallic Dragons, while the drow allying themselves with the twisted, greedy Chromatic Dragons. Thus, a war broke out that lasted over a century, almost destroying the entire realm. This bloody period is known as the Age of Shadow. It ended when an uneasy pact was created, a fragile peace treaty that granted the drow and Chromatic Dragons certain lands. However, the surface elves, Metallic Dragons, humans and dwarves are all aware that, at any time, the drow and Chromatic Dragons will grow more and more discontent with what they have been granted and will seek out ever more land and power, aiming to, in their eyes, take their place as the rightful rulers of Thesti'lia.

That time has now come, though as of yet no one is aware of it as the drow and Chromatic Dragons have yet to openly announce their uprising, but an uneasy air of disturbance shadows the land. Dark creatures are becoming ever more active and bold, attacking and pillaging settlements in ever greater numbers. Threat and danger hangs in the air and the people are growing ever more wary.

This is where the party comes in. You all arrive at one of the four main cities of Thesti'lia, Vangar. It is ruled by a benevolent human called Valoran (can't think of a surname yet!) whose daughter is deathly ill. While riding her beloved snow white stallion, her curiosity got the better of her and she ventured further than was wise. She came upon a cave, the inhabitant not taking kindly to the sudden intrusion. It was a monstrously large wyrm, a basilisk, and in punishment for the princess' tresspass, it bared its fangs and delivered its deadly poison. King Vangar has hired the party to seek an antidote to the basilisk's venom to save his daughter, which can be found in the nearby mountains in an orc stronghold. This is your first quest...
((Any questions you have, please drop me a DM or ask in the Fire & Shadow Q&A thread.))

Hey, guys.
Sorry this isn't Blacktooth related, but it is tooth related lol.

Who here has had their wisdom teeth (or 1 at least)? How long did it take to grow (I don't mean what age were you, I mean time period)? Think mine's starting to grow and I'm wondering how long I've got to put up with it till it grows.

I agree. Attack the enemies that don't have prisoners first to cause a distraction, then have the other half of our group free the prisoners.

Enemy races such as orcs, goblins, bugbears, dragons etc are off limits. The only enemy race you can be is a drow.

But you can be a dragonborn. if you want. Metallic dragonborn only though, please.

I think I might use that system for levelling up, too then. Sounds good.

And yeah, I picked a lowish level to start at on purpose, so we can have fun levelling up and feeling like we're actually progressing and getting stronger. Won't have that if we just started straight away at a high level haha.

Quick P.S.:

Relationships between characters are totally fine. Just tell me beforehand if you're planning on having a relationship with another player's character.

Oh, and if you want, you are allowed to be a drow (evil elf). But you'll have switched sides and joined the surface (good) elves for whatever reason. Just letting you know in case you're wondering if you can be one.

Same as what I said to Alverstar, really. Whatever you want to be.

You will be encountering some strong enemies somewhere down the line, so I do recommend having a healer. Or even a mage who knows basic healing arts. Up to you. And, yes, enchanted items are allowed, as long as they're not too overpowered. So you could have an enchanted amulet that could heal light wounds, for example (1 use, then you'll need a short rest to recharge. That's for light wounds. For more serious wounds, it will be one use then a long rest will be needed to recharge). Just thought having enchanted items would be a bit different.

Anyway, please get your character ideas to me whenever you're able. And by the way, I'd rather you put them straight on here, not Google docs. It's easier for me.

Thank you!

To be honest, I'm not looking for any classes in particular. Though, of course, a cleric always comes in handy. Just choose whatever race and class you want to be and I'll most likely accept it.

This is a tricky situation. We have at least 4 innocent people in the area that we don't want accidentally shot if we engage in battle. I say we split the party up. One half engages the enemy and the other frees the prisoners.

What do the rest of you say?

Hey, guys!

I've made an official Q&A thread for the campaign called 'Fire & Shadow Q&A'.

@Alvester: As of now, everything's still getting set up. Whatever questions you have, shoot them to me in the Q&A thread, or DM.

To everyone: If you could send me your character ideas (either in the Q&A or DM) so I can look them over, that'll be great thank you. Btw, let's start at a low-ish level. How does level 6 sound?

@Nomad: Btw, how would levelling up work in a freeform, no-rules campaign?

Welcome, players!

This is the official Q&A thread of the Fire and Shadow freeform campaign. If you have any questions whatsoever, please feel free to ask them here (or even in DM) and I'll answer them as quickly and best as I can.

Welcome to Thesti'lia, the realm you'll be exploring!

...Or maybe goblins prefer a mead party?

Other than that (and the above was, of course, a joke. Unless we could make some buds that way), I suggest we have a short/long rest then head into the Vargolg. The Vargolg is going to be a hard place to infiltrate so we need to be in our best condition before we attempt it. And I'd like to do my weapon bond ritual I've just learned which requires an hour to perform, if that's okay. If not, we can just move on ahead.

Subject: Father, Where Could You Be?

Thäoran's catlike sapphire eyes hazed over with a thin film of tears born of disappointment, longing and sorrow as the bugbear announced the very thing he wished not to hear: no sign of his father was in the twisted catacombs of the Vargolg. Where, then, was he? How long, if ever, would father and son reunite?
The elf swallowed sharply, swiftly blinking away the moisture that had accumilated on his eyes, lest any of his companions took notice or, gods forbid, the bugbear himself. Emitting a short, quick inhale and exhale of pent up breath, he instead busied himself with the task at hand, both to distract himself and to further disguise his sadness.
'Yes,' he nodded with quick birdlike dip of his head. 'We have made a vow that we shall not harm our prisoner. Let us heed that promise and take to heart the information he has divulged as we forge onwards into the depths of the Vargolg.'

With that, he took up the daggers the Kendar has embedded into the rocky soil, slipping the blades into the leather belt of his tunic. They could indeed be of use in the future.

Pretty much what Keeper said to ask the goblin:

*Is there a back entrance/entrance that isn't guarded?
*Ask if the Molkin (was that their name?) twins are in the Vargolg plus are there any other captives?
*What other forces are ahead?
*Any traps?
*And what are the goblins up to? Why are they massing in such numbers? Who's their big boss? I'm not talking Red Caps, I'm talking the overlord. Is it the Horned One?
*Also, Thäoran would like to ask a question himself: Have the goblins taken any elves prisoner, specifically male elves. Thäoran's still looking for his father.
