Max listened again to her boss. "I know it's my last run. I just wish I could live... No, I know what to do: Retrieve Travis and his son, then shoot myself. I'm out." Max turned the headset off. Her life... ended here. But it was her destiny.

At this, he sprang into action. He jumped and tackled her. The gun clattered from her hand and the headset flew off.

"You can kill me, Seth and my son...but when you kill yourself...thats where I draw the line."

He realized how ironic that was, considering he almost killed himself minutes ago.

Max gasped. "It's what I was made for: a desposable weapon." She didn't fight back. Better to distract him then try and overpower him...

"Your not disposable. You used Seth! Used him! He loved you Max...just like I loved Rose. You can't tell me you felt nothing for him in return. I saw it in your eyes. You love him don't you. Are you willing to give that up? For what...WHAT! So you can die, and you can turn two people who trusted you over to their deaths. You've already done it to Rose haven't you...SHE DEAD BECAUSE OF YOU!"

Tears flowwed out of his...she was gone...

"She's alive... with her family. Kane, my boss is her brother. He's... my ex-lover." Max tilted her face to look at him.

In anger he couldn't control, he brougt his fist down. She winced in fear, but his fist made contact with the tile floor, cracking the tile in two.

"Damn you!"

He stood up and pushed her back, holding his arms wide open, he kicked the gun to her, and she picked it up.

"DO IT! KILL ME! END IT NOW!"

"I can't." But Max picked up the gun and held it to her head. She pulled the trigger.

"NO!"

He flung himself forward. Time slowed as the round passed through her head. There was no way she could have lived...she was dead. He caught her on the way down and screamed at the top of his lungs. The walls rattled and the glass windows shattered. It was roar...not a scream.

He was hunced over her body in a sad heap.

She couldn't be dead...she'd lived...she'd survived the Vampire bite from him...she was alive, he knew it. He waited for movement, but nothing happened. He slouched over and started crying.

Max's skin started to heal. The holes in her skull and brain closed themselves. Somewhere, a memory...

"When you do it, shoot through your heart. Otherwise, you'll heal." Kane ruffled her hair. "Understand?"

Max's lycan blood... had healed her. No...

He opened his eyes to see her rousing awake. The barin matter had...oddly, returned to her head. He swatted the guna way from her and pinned her on the ground.

He was at a loss for words. Part of him was so happy, and yet the other part of him wanted to kill her himself. He simply kept her pinnes, and waited for Seth.

Max was too tired to move. Her energy had gone into healing her. She tipped her head back and fainted.

He picked up her up and threw her over his shoulder, storming off to Seths office.

Seth heard the gunshot and jumped up, m4 at the ready. When he saw Travis storming in with Max slung over her shoulder, he felt almost relived, but incredibly angry. He wanted to kill her.

As Travis laid her down, Seth put his handgun to her chest.

"You f**king b***h."

Travis took the gun from Seth and hit him, extremely hard, across the face.

"Don't talk to the woman you love like that...ever again." He was serious. His eyes were fixed on Seth with an 'I'm going to hurt you if you do' glare.

Seth began to protest but Travis cut him off.

"I don't care what she did...I saw it in her eyes...she loves you Seth, at least that was real. You love her."

Seth shook his head, denying it all.

"God damnit! Don't you lie to me you son of a bitch! You love this woman more than life itself...I know. You don't know anything about what it feels like to lose her, because your too damn blinded by your hatred now! She was being controlled! Manipulated, I doubt any of that was really her, except for her feeling toward you...that was honest."

He moved his head as Seth tried to avert his gaze.

"She loves you so much...so much I can feel it right now...and you don't know what to do. Your so damn busy dwelling on the past and the present to think about the future...are you going to be alone for the rest of your life? Are you going to die alone...no one to hold you but your cold guns..."

Yet again, he found himself crying, this entire time thinking about Rose...he had done the same thing Seth did now, and yet he was preaching to him. The pot was calling the kettle black.

Max suddenly groaned and opened her eyes. "Travis... Seth... Get Derric... And run..." She groaned again: pain was filling her.
