Max smiled at him. "C'mon." She said and led him to the other med room, having him sit on the table. She grabbed painkillers, antibiotics, and a knife.

Max handed him painkiller and then sat down, wiping of blood and dirt. She sliced off the top layers of skin and started cutting carefully, freeing the bullet and bringing it out.

"I know it's not hospital treatment, but it'll do." She said and finished up, smiling. "Don't walk around alot." She said and bandaged it.

Travis was continously fading in and our of awareness. He caught fleeting snippets of Rose ranting about his foolishness. Then she would stop talking, and start on something else. Seth raised his hopes a little with his comment about Travis' old M-4K5.

Occasionally his left eye would open and he would catch a glimpse of Rose or Max or Seth. Rose in particular was a mess, her hair was askew and she looked hungry. Turning his head toward her, he opened his mouth and whispered.

"Go get something to eat, I'll be fine."

Rose paused.

"No, no. I'll be fine. Besides, I'm playing your vigalantee." Rose wanted to say something else but didn't, smiling at him.

"If your fine, then why are your eyes red. Don't be a damn fool, go get something to eat. We have nurses you know, I'll be fine."

Rose sighed.

"You're not gonna get killed while I'm gone, will you?"

Travis squeezed a tube going into his side.

"Not unless the nurses can stop me... go and eat, it shouldnt take you long."

Rose looked at him.

"Travis, I..."

"I think I know what you mean to say...I do too...but the way things are right now, it probabaly would be best not to get that involved. It would only lead to hurt for both of us, and considering our profession...it might be best to push that aside...if that is what your trying to say."

Travis lifted his arm and put it on her shoulder, patting it gently.

"I'm sure you can understand that...just look at me now. Next time...I might not be so lucky."

"That's what I'm worried about." She muttered. Rose's eyes strayed to his hand, the enhance vision making the veins prominant.

She would have bitten him, but years of experience stopped her.

Rose turned away and disspeared.

Travis slipped into a deep sleep after Rose left his side. On the blank black canvas of his eyelids a picture began to paint itself.

Colors swirled pointlessly, until they formed an image. The very image Travis had seen before he fainted. Seth, Max and Rose...looking at him. Their faces were filled with mixed emotions. Fear, Pride, Happiness, Sorrow...even Love.

Love...Travis shook the image out of mind at the thought of the word. Love wasnt okay in war, Love lead to hurt...Travis knew that full well.

A new image began to swirl into existance, this one was a face he had not seen in many years. Her soft tan skin and sparkling blue eyes looked at him. She was holding a tray of food. The smell of oranges and toast overhwelmes his mind. She smiled. "Wake up" she said, "Wake up, I brought you breakfast." Travis smiled, not only in his dream, but in his hospital bed...then he suddenly remembered this day. His dream collapsed, and new colors swirled around in his mind. This time he was sitting in an office, face to face with a computer, typing an E-mail to his superintendent saying he was taking the week off. Those colors blended and formed a new image. His house, a soft yellow two story victorian home. The windows were broken and he heard a scream from inside. He threw open the door and saw the Lycan standing over her body... the Lycan charged at him, sword drawn, and ran the blade trhough his upper chest.

His eyes shot open when the nurse put the needle in his arm.
"Calm down...it's just some Morphine...go back to sleep."

"No" Travis shook his head, "I dont think I want to..."

"Don't be stupid."

Max's voice came from the doorway as she walked in. Sometime in the while he'd been brought back, her hair had been cut. Where it used to creep over her ears it was now lat against her head. She smiled alittle.

"Rose is gonna be back and if you're awake, she's gonna woder if you're in pain." Max knew it was a lie though. By the way her friend had looked, it would take awhile to kill without causing a problem with the Lycans.

"I really dont weant to sleep anymore...that was just to horrible...some things are not meant to be remembered...just talk to me."

Rose slumped against a wall, panting. A young human girl laid at her feet, completley drained of blood. Rose's mouth was covered, but ehr fangs were still fully extended and her left eye had changed to purple, the color it only did when she was completley starved.

Rose looked at the body. A memory suddenly hit her, hard:

"Don't kill Rosey. Just take alittle, and if needed, move to another." Rose looked up at her older brother with blood on her mouth. He gently pried the cat out of her hands and held it. "We aren't monsters Rosey."

She smiled at him and wiped her mouth. "Nope! Rosey is a good girl!" Her brother smiled. She hugged his leg and he ruffled her hair. Rose looked up at Karence.

Her brother was tall and had that odd sandy blonde hair, but blue eyes like her blue one. "C'mon Rosey." Rose giggled as he picked her up too. "Not monsters..." He started. "Just different." Rose finished the quote he always told her and smiled.

'So much happier... I was so much happier back then...' Rose thought grimly. 'And I ahd so much more control'. Again, she looked at the body. Rose growled and turned away. She went off to find her next prey.

"Ummm.... one of the trainees thoguht I was a boy." Max said and grined.

"I knocked the sh** outta him."

Travis laughed so hard it rattled the medical equipment.

"Son of a bi** deserved it."
