Seth refused to look her in the eye. He still didn't want to speak to her.

He checked his guns again. No matter what Max said, there might be fight. She betrayed them once, who says she wouldn't again?

He felt the anger still brooding between the two of them. He felt Seth was being a bit too harsh, yet he also understood exeactly where Seth was coming from.

Max felt depressed, knowing how Seth felt about her. But he was human, so he would eventually forget. She hoped.

Seth spoke without making eye contact.

"How well did you know her family?"

He hoped her relationship with Rose would help them get in easily.

"Very well. Her dad loves me, even tried to get Kane to let me live." Max's voice was pained. 'Why couldn't I have just died? This is so much worse...'

"okay, this is for your own good. You are now done talking. Except for getting us in that compound. Whether they let you in or not, we're still getting in. I don't care if I have to shoot a few people."

Max tried not to cry and nodded.

"Get us there quick, Travis. i want this business over and done with."

The Villa was growing larger now...the gates were only about seven miles off, and the Lycans had stopped chasing them.

Seth looked out the back windshield.

"Alright, I think we can afford to slow down a little now."

He was feeling anxious about going in here. They were one of the oldest vampire families out there, and probably very powerful.

Most definitely wealthy, by the looks of the compound.

Rose sat in a patch of grass, fiddling with her braid. She was no prisoner, but free was not the word. Free would mean Travis beside her.

He slowed down, and the gate to the compound loomed ahead. A guard booth sat occupied, flanked by massive statues of previous family members of notability.

He hoped Max was feeling well enough the get them through.

The lead guard looked in the car. "Max? Did Kane request you live?"
Max nodded.
"Okay, let them pass."

He breathed a sight of relief as he gently pushed down on the gas. They apparently didn't recognize that Travis was supposed to be their super soldier and Seth was supposed to be dead.

Max started regaining color as they passed the gates. "Rose!"
