A mage for hire
Well, not so much "for hire." I work cheap. Free, actually.
But it seems I am taking over the mage. I will try and get some reading done tonight to figure out what is going on in the game. Any information you want to get me will be greatly appreciated. Also, I haven't played a high level mage in a LONG TIME. Which means I'm not used to thinking about all of the spell possibilities. If any of you have suggestions on what I/Jarenion should do, I will not feel like you are trying to control my character. I make no promises that I will take your advice, but I would certainly appreciate it. And if you wish your characters to survive, you might appreciate it as well.

Leeches, wererats, zombies and naked skeletons . . .a good start
Well, reading through the start of the adventure took a bit longer than expected, but with only 10 pages I just read it all so I'd have a clue what was up. I can't imagine why you would want to be sure to have a mage in a place like this. I should be able to get a post in for the mage tomorrow (Thursday) so that nobody is waiting on the new guy.
If anyone has suggestions, I'm open to them.
Also, a quick question - are Jarenion and a few of the others outside of the tunnel - and so still in the big cavern? If so, who exactly is still in the cavern? I just want to be sure I know before I start throwing fireballs or the like around.
Or are we all in the tunnel - which would create a bottleneck preventing 70 zombie rats from all getting to us at once?

If you ever need help or a question answered feel free to PM me I'll be happy to answer them. And as I'm a player in this game and not your DM I can be much more telling in those answers

location
Maximus, Kadrin, Finarsil and Odyson are in the corridor near the broken doorway so will face the ice skeletons first. The rest of the party are standing by the corridor entrance and have the rat-zombies behind you - so technically in the big cavern.

A first encounter . . . .well, for me, anyway
I'm thinking a nice little wall of something to block off the bad rats is a good idea, especially with some of our best muscle in the hallway. I'll be back in a few hours to post in the game thread and will do some such thing unless somebody else has a better idea.
***Addition to original post - I'm thinking we want to get away from here. Even if we can beat the rats again, which I suspect is possible even if 1/2 the party is down the hall dealing with icicles, I get the sneaky suspicion that the bolt of energy might just flash again shortly thereafter allowing us to do it all again. And again. And again. So we want to get away down the side passage. Sound reasonable? (Also, if we decapitate rats, can they still reanimate?)
So, I'm thinking the 4 of us in the cavern want to back into the tunnel and I can cast a wall of fire blocking the entrance. Between that and the turning of the undead, our backs might be protected and we can move deeper into the tomb and ignore the zombie rats for now. Assuming the icicles are dealt with.

Traveling
Just an FYI - Heading out of town for work over the next two weeks. Not sure whether I'll be able to post or not (we'll see what my internet situation is when I get there). If you don't hear from me for a bit don't worry, still here. More soon!

Nim - that is fine. I can NPC if necessary. I assume Lum will attempt to turn the ice creatures now.
I have posted. You are not fighting on two fronts anymore, thanks to your mage but you are definitely against some badass monsters. If any of you are familiar with this creature, keep in mind that no one in the party has ever seen them before.
Bwahahahahaha. Mine is an evil laugh.

Is that think in the 2.0 Monster Manual? I've seen something similar but not ice coated.

MonStar
I think it is in the "top 100" monsters edition of Time magazine. Gonna pull out a copy and ask for an autograph. Might slow it down looking for a pen. :-)
