His tomb??
But that guy isn't supposed to be alive...
Do we know this place? Didn't we clear it out once before? Or someone did? What was up with the chief resident at that time? Was he (he?) encountered at that time? Should Jarenion know anything about this person/thing?

Let me sum up
Galen, the guy who you are here to rescue along with three Elven women, was part of the group that cleared the tomb and destroyed the Demi-lich. Now he has been abducted and the trail lead back to the tomb of horror.
You were lead to believe that a black cauldron holding three witches of powerful evil were responsible and hoping to use the bodies of the elf maids to live again outside the spiritual prison of the cauldron. However, the cauldron in the room and the mention of the Demi-lich's name has called all this into question.

Hmmmm
Thank you for the summary. I do remember that now. I suppose I could have gone back and reread the back story, but this was much easier. For me anyway. Thanks.
As for the rest of us, this is an interesting twist. I'm not overly inclined to remove that pot.

Thank You....
I tend to get caught up in the moment of the story and can forget long past information.
Now to put this together, do others have thoughts on what to do? This is where the more experienced players jump in with good stuff...... you that were in the first game....
Shoot I'm even open to lurker comments and ideas.

Wait
I thought the members of this rescue group were part of the quest that killed the Demi-Lich?
That's the reason we were approached to rescue him as we have already been here once I thought. Or am I remembering wrong?

No
The tomb was cleared 75 years ago. Re-read the original posts

A plan is needed
Ok, so we don't have personal knowledge of the place, but it was supposed to have been cleared out. Dang liches won't stay dead, you'd think they were undead or something.
But what then is this lady in front of us? A witch? I'm still thinking medusa given the pot. Or at least something that you don't want to look directly at. Do we just announce that we are outsiders - which is what the first post up seems to be doing? Or try to fool her? I really have no idea. I suppose we talk to her, but what do we ask?
just something like
"(Stupid liches name here) isn't available right now. What did he want with you? Oh, and nice pot." ???

Silly wizard, witches are for kids
Feeling stumped and bumping this to the top so those smarter than I can figure this out. I'm just a really high level elvish wizard, what do I know?

Congrats on the job. Ask your new boss if they have any good ideas . . .
That sort of thing always makes you look good. A strategic thinker and all that.

Thanks........
I need to go back too and read the intro stuff maybe. Although Al's sum up was pretty good.
I may be over thinking this but i don't get the pot on the head thing. Scooby sense is telling me it is an important clue, but I'm not getting it. If the witches spirit were trapped in cauldron and it was now in this body shouldn't it be strong enough to escape on its own. If she has been being tortured was that to try and prepare a body for one of the witches?
I go along with talking to her before removing the pot. Who is our defacto leader now?
-----------------------------
Ah I see Keeper did ask the woman who she was so gather to wait on the response.

I told you it was a medusa!
See, sometimes elf wizards do know something!
Now what to do about it - that I am not so sure about. Anyone got a mirror?

Mirror, mirror, on the wall
Well, having taken the time to actually look, Jarneion does actually have a mirror. Always be prepared, was the lesson of the elvish boy scouts when he was younger.
So, what do we do with this thing? Is there a good reason not to kill it? It is a medusa. What should we ask?
There is no exit?
A beam of light from the ceiling? from where exactly?
Renovations in a tomb? What exactly do we see?
Would detect magic identify if something was an illusion?
True sight? Waste of a big spell perhaps, but would it also leave me vulnerable to the medusa's gaze?
I have a hard time believing this is a dead end. No pun, hopefully, intended.

Hi
Hey there. Sorry about the delay. Should be back to fighting form by Monday.
I'm not dead yet! Think I'll go for a walk.
