Found a link...

...for the calculator I used but the page itself appears to be dead and/or in the midst of being restored from a backup... http://cortexsystemrpg.org/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=item255

Might wanna keep a peeper peeled for that to come back up... I thought I had an excel spreadsheet somewhere, too... still looking for that.

In reply to Eol :)

Ok Wyatt, Ash, Trish and the new guy Ryan all have the covert skill and Trish and Ryan have the stealth specialization. Wolf not having it should not be that big of a problem I would think.

Roger as you said that you boo boo’d on the ballistic vests and they are better as relates to damage and stun I went ahead and dropped Dodge for Shotgun d8.

On the subject of shotguns I noticed there was no ammo type listed. Wolf uses what are called Frag-12 which are a series of special purpose shotgun grenades, including high explosive blast, fragmentation,(what he used in the mine) and HEAP (High Explosive Armor Piercing) grenades intended to be fired from any 12-ga shotgun. They are distinguished from regular shotgun rounds by a green hull. When used they offer vastly improved accuracy compared to traditional shotgun slugs.

He specifically uses both Frag and HEAP rounds and has 100 of each type. Again not sure what the damage dice would be on those ammo types.

Nope...

...no problem,at all. Just wanted to point out that covert meant more than just stealth, etc, and despite being a big ol' beefy bruiser, Wolf might have some hint of a covert skill along the line. Didn't want you "cheating yourself" out of something based on misinterpretation, you know?

Anyhoo... like I said, wasn't trying to convince anyone to change their changes, just running off at the mouth by way of trying to help or whatever.

Frag what?

Tann - just use the ammo in the books. What you are suggesting using would be highly illegal, dangerous to use on a ship and frankly very very expensive.

The "gun" thing here is getting out of hand in my opinion. You are flying in a tramp freighter which is gonna be boarded by alliance patrols. If they saw that many weapons or ammo stored, you all be bound by law fast. Not counting the movie which was overdone, in the series the crew stuck to pistols, rifles, shotguns and one assault rifle (Vera).

Guns

Been wondering how's best to suggest this, I think this is good.

When arming your character think how you would feel if you saw them kitted out?
If you're fine with them carrying a belt load of grenades, an assault rifle, or a shotgun then I'm sure that it will be fine for them to carry that stuff around with them. But if, for some reason, you are uncomfortable with somebody armed to the teeth in a public place it may not be a good idea to give them all that stuff. Asides for being legal or not, if somebody is seen with a rifle a passer by might get nervous and call the alliance anyway. Now this might not lead to being bound by law, but it'll sure as hell be an annoyance and will bring you and the whole group to the attention of the purple bellies when it may not be wholly desired.

EDIT: Perhaps this is not be best analogy, I've just remembered I've been playing Red Dead Redemption, which is set in the 'Wild West' much like the rim worlds in firefly, and Marston walks around with an s ton of guns very early on in the game.

What are these guns you speak of?

Why would we need guns when we have Buddha's wisdom to guide us?

location location location

Depends on where you are in the verse. Beaumonde obviously has its seedier side with thugs carrying automatic weapons. Ariel - not so much.

I let the guns slide at the start and during this campaign but as the GM I am stating clearly - if you overdo the weapons expect a peck of trouble. Explosive rounds? Must be a Dust Devil looking to kill alliance citizens, why waste a trial Sarge?

*smiles*

Why to have the wisdom to know which situations warrant guns and which do not, of course. *bows*

Have you done a googlefight between Buddha and Google, by chance? *winks*

try boobs vs buddha

New topic!!!

Sleeping arrangements! Check out the floorplan of the ship and please work out who is sleeping where. I believe the Captain has a double near cockpit, Sam had the single closest to same, Willow had a double at the back with the guest quarters as she needed closet space. Not sure where Ash and Wolf are.... but assume in the crew quarters.

Anyway - please sort out.

Wyatt

I've replied to your latest post, Roger. I will try to find some time to update the character sheet here in the near future and get it off to you.

I've no suggestions, or influences, to compound the situation as I tend to enjoy working with what's provided in game play. Helps keep me on my toes. However, the covert comment does raise my curiosity. Personally, I like the idea of any one of the crew being able to somewhat fill another's spot just in case there's a need. Wyatt can fly Roc, but prefers to take a command role. So, Roger's idea that he'd be looking for a well-rounded individual to fill Sam's shoes is dead on.

*nods*

Fantastical post... I almost shed a tear... but didn't want the Cap ta see it.

Also... as to bunk arrangements, I'm assuming our little monk will wind up in the passenger berths... if there's a size difference in any of those, he'd be inclined to take the smallest... no need in taking up any more space than necessary, right?

Edit: How about that single bunk with the angled wall for Fu Sheng? Looks "out of the way" enough for him.

I imagine Tess'll take over Sam's old room when she gets on board.
