Grenades and Future Pilot

Ah Tann, a 30 sec fuse on Grenades? I was never in the Army or Marines but that seems a bit too long. Are you sure it isnt like 3-4 secs after the lever is let go?

Now I didn't bring that up to start something again about the grenades with the GM. As Alacrity already said, the results depends on alot of stuff, the most important one is that 'the GM says so'.

FYI, I am watching this battle with eager interest, my Pilot/Tech character is hoping that the crew survives as he is waiting in the wings to join up.

Its Longer then 3-4 seconds

the 3-4 secs I believe your thinking of is the count of how long till you throw it.

They taught my training platoon, at least what I remember, that once you pull the pin and pop the handle you count
1 thousand 1
1 thousand 2
1 thousand 3

And then you threw it. Flight time included I believe it was 20-30 second. However I may very well may be wrong on the 'fuse' time as it has been quite some time and a brain surgery later.

Here is what I found on wiki........

Once the soldier throws the grenade, the safety lever releases, the striker throws the safety lever away from the grenade body as it rotates to detonate the primer. The primer explodes and ignites the fuse (sometimes called the delay element). The fuse burns down to the detonator, which explodes the main charge.

That whole process takes easily longer then 3-4 seconds weather it takes 30 that I am unsure of.

What An Arm....

Tann, if you can throw a grenade and keep it in the air 20 seconds....wow!

Now I can do it but only in Arizona as I throw them over the Colorado River.

Small Edit.........

Made a small edit to my post so that Asher's call to Wolf could be heard by the whole crew.

I apologize

I've been somewhat busy these past few weeks and have apparently missed out on a lot of good conversation. I've placed a small post to at least state my intentions. I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

Archangel, I'm assuming you're going to be our new pilot. Welcome aboard!

Nasties............

I have two options ideas for Asher and Trish:

A: Do a little annoying buzz of the Corvette to drop the EM's and possibly mess up its systems.

B: Do a swing back over the Roc to bombard the troops on and around the ship.

Here's your one time chance to pick the option!

Of course there is option C: To go see if Tess needs help or D: to "Run Away"!!!

BTW................

Which of these are the Merc flying?

Grapnel Class Independant Picket Corvette
Ocula Class Electronic Warfare Corvette
The Victoria-Class Corvette

It helps to figure how or if to attack it.

These are pretty big and well armed. They just saw a shuttle take out the hualer so they may not let the shuttle even get close, soooooooooooo that's why Ash decided to swing back on the Merc troops.

I am pretty sure that I said Victoria

It is a Victoria Class, modified. The Victoria-class corvette was designed to allow surreptitious insertion of Special Forces and their equipment. Due to its ability to move undetected, and its relatively high amount of firepower, a Victoria-class corvette is often put under the command of Parliament Operatives who need a fast ship with sufficient firepower to resolve any likely armed conflict.

Before you go looking up on the best way to attack something, does Asher have Knowledge (Ships)?

bit behind

This weekend got away from me. I hope to get a post in for all the Games today.

Combat in Serenity is based on a six second round and I can not see myself playing this as a post for every six seconds. So ... I'm going to have to assume a bit.

Tann - Can you give me an idea of where you'd like Wolf to be beyond "hopefully out of sight". You got people on the roof so they can access through the shuttle bay doors the easiest, or use the upper EVA entrance by the kitchen. So .. Catwalk egress to the shuttles, maybe a few stairs down so if they blow the doors you won't be in the way? See picture below

one more thing

With the combat coming I wanted to put out there some rules that I will be applying

Sonic Rifles: They do d8 stun damage and the Basic damage from them is all Stun. Now if you have a Ballistic Vest or armour, according to the rules they are half effective. I am not sure what they meant by that but since the rifle is ineffective against inanimate objects, I will be ruling that wear a vest will give you half damage from a sonic rifle. (For the record, I am assuming that Tess, Wyatt, Wolf, Ash and John are wearing vests even if you did not say so. Ma has her armour. Havelock has the vest and duster.

If you hit 0 Stun points, you get and endurance roll to stay conscious.

If you take more stun than you have points, you are stunned of course but you do get a Resistance roll every round to “shake off the effects”

You may use a plot point at any time to “revive” or “resist” stun effect. Everyone has 6 plot points going into the battle.

Ballistic Vests: Used much like the bulletproof vests of Earth-That-Was, ballistic mesh is a finely woven cloth of metal and plastic over polymer sheeting. Ballistic mesh is meant to stop bullets and that’s about it. The mesh absorbs 1 Wound point from any attack on an area covered by the suit (torso, arms and legs, usually – I roll a d6 and if I get a 1, you got hit in the flesh), but it doesn’t do much more than that to protect against knives, bombs and so on. Against normal bullets, however, the mesh converts all Wound damage to Stun damage. This effect doesn’t apply to arrows, bolts, specialty bullets or explosives. The Mercs are wearing a form of this vest as a jacket with helmets. They are not wearing re-breather helms (probably due to the restrictions they cause on movement and agility).
