just saying, I do have patience, but that does not mean I will wait around with baited breath. Thanks for stepping it up and going for Monday.

is this adventure getting underway anytime soon? it has been quite a while, and if this is the dedication people are showing to the game, I may just pull back.

Sorry if this sounds rude, but I do not like waiting for long periods of time on others.

The stranger distanced himself, and was rather quiet. Richard did not mind the way the man had reacted, it takes all sorts to get along in life. Though Richard was not the best at reading people, he knew that there was a certain amount of good in each, and that this man certainly had his own reserves of kindness. Richard just smiled, nodded, and dealt himself another game of solitaire, as he waited for more to show up.

"By the way there Wolf, how many more are we expectin'? We gots me, this Joesph man here, and that guy that gave me the creepers... any others that we should be expecting?"

(OOC: I am not urging for a list, more of just some interaction with Wolf if it possible...)

After losing to a game of Solitaire for the third time in a row, Richard sighs. He starts to shuffle his cards once more, and looks at the newcomer.

"Darn there sir!" 'Kid' is ofcourse speaking to the one with tobacco pipe, "You look even more ragged than me, though I suppose not by much!" He gives a friendly smile, trying to show that it is all in jest. Setting his deck infront of him, Richard tips his hat up in his common salute and gives a friendly wink. "The name's Richard Denim sir. I recon from the way you are dressed that your a country-bumpkin just like me."

The young cowboy then starts to reshuffle his cards. "I ain't been in a city this big before, used to either be in the open prairies, or small towns where everyone knows everyone." Richard stops his shuffling again, and leans forward to whisper his next thought, "I am thinking the people round here are kind of unfriendly, but that is between you and me right?"

Richard sits back and continues his shuffle. "Can I deal you in? My parents taught me this fun game called 'Go Fish', been taught in the family for a couple generations now. Its easy to learn and easy to play and best of all, its fun!"

Topic: Iron Age QA
Subject: Tip of the hat

After making sure Cardinal was settled in for the storm, Richard strode back in and had a better look around the common room. After scanning the tables, he found the person he was looking for. He had not met the half-elf before, but since he stood up and saluted Richard, it could only be presumed that he was the one.

Richard made his way to the table and with his right hand he tipped his hat as a friendly gesture: its what his family always did when they met each other, and he continued the custom with his friends and comrades.

"Afternoon sir." Richard started. "Supposin' that your the acclaimed lone wolf looking to make new pack?"

With greetings exchanged, Richard sat down with a smile, and ordered a well-done steak and a glass of milk (If this Iron age has the technology, he will instead order a soda; though this was not invented in our world until early 1800s, so it is up to you whether it is available or not).

Richard "Kid" Denim then slings his backpack off and takes off his brown leather trench coat. The first he puts by his feet, while the latter he hangs up on his chair to dry. Rummaging through his backpack, he pulls out a deck of playing cards and some dice. "Care to play somethin' while we wait for everyone else? I don't gamble, but my pa' taught me a ton of games that don't need no coin to be fun..." Richard then starts to shuffle the deck, smiling innocently all the while.

But while he was in mid shuffle, his eyes glanced off to one corner of the room, and his facial expression instantly changed for a second, and the cards went flying everywhere. His expression soon goes back to the smile, but it is obvious something has disturbed him.

(If asked what is wrong)
"I thought I saw an old aquaintance, but one that I would rather not meet ever again."

Kid peers back to the corner he had looked at before, but no one was there. A shiver crawls up his spine, but he tries to hold in his sense of fear, this of course is not effective, since Richard is aloof when it comes to lying, deceiving, or masking the truth. He silently goes about to pick up his 54 cards that are now scattered around him.

Once the cards are picked up, and to be done at any time at the inn...

Richard Denim continues to play games wither by himself, or with others at the table, stopping only to eat his steak and give a wink and mild-mannered look-sie at a serving woman or any other females at the in who may look pretty to him. Even when business is underway, Richard will continue to fiddle and fidget: he is paying attention, but he acts childish due to his lack of social interaction and experience.

(OOC: how much does he know about the other characters? Are they long-time companions, or merely acquainted with each other? I presumed that at least the Goblin character will be a friend of Richard's, since he is really standing up for him, but that can be altered...)

Subject: Presuming this is after Uthgar's introduction now...

The half orc, who had been silently standing to one side, leaning against a wall, intentionally acted sluggish as his name was called in such a manner. With his one good eye, he looked at the man who had so carelessly called out his name, and when asked for acknowledgment, only a low growl was given followed by a brief pause and a slight and silent nod.

Uthgar wondered who this man was, how it knew his name, and why it wished to speak to him. No words would be given uttered from his mouth though, that was a waste of breath. If the man wished to let the half orc know the answers to these questions, it would tell him. If not, then life would continue.

The half orc did not budge from his position, neither showing submissive nor defensive body language. He was indifferent to this man, and though it was bigger then him, Uthgar was not very intimidated. When you live in the hostile sands for as long as he has, nothing scares you so easily.

Listening to the Dwarf vouch for him almost made the stoic Uthgar smile... almost. For a dwarf and an orc-kin to be so willing to work with each other was peculiar. However, Uthgar still did not speak, for it is against his nature.

every group should have one rofl.

Also seems kinda nice that we have 1 buffer/healer, 1 range based fighter, and 1 melee based fighter. SO if we want, I could set up a small scenario for us to begin roleplaying:

It was pouring violently outside. With harsh winds and waves that threatened to overtake the docks, many a sailor was out at his station, making sure that his vessel would not get beached or sunk in the midst of this off season storm.

But to those who were not of the sailing proffesion, the heat and security of a home or inn was very comfortable. At the Morning Summit, business was booming. With traders having no where to go, and no one was outside to trade, they were stuck indoors buying food, drink, and entertainment.

It is about 2 in the afternoon when the door blows open. Everyone turns to see who let all the heat out, and they see a young man oddly dressed come stalking through the door. He takes a moment, but he manages to close the door, which the wind tried to keep open.

"There is no vacancy sir." Called a midsized man from the otherside of the commonroom: the inn keep of this establishment.

"I don't suppose you do sir." Calls the newcomer. "But I had made reservations at this here establishment some weeks ago. Three rooms were paid for in advance, along with a stable stall."

The man nods his head and raises his lip in a thoughtful aknowledgement. "Richard Denim Eastwood I pressume?" He asks.

The young man, who had his face hidden under a long brimmed hat, moves the brim up with a gloved pointer finger, as he also does a casual salute. His baby-blue eyes give a genuine cheer that brightens the dark room, and his smile is sincere. "That I be sir. My four-legged companion is still outside a shiverin' away..."

The man cuts Richard off. "I will get one of my hands to tend to it.

Richard waves both of his open palmed hands to gesture calmness to the man. "Now sir, I don't need all your attention, and I don't need one of your boys to do all the work. Me and Cardinal go way back, and I would prefer to deal with him myself, but if you can send someone to the stable to prep his stall with some feed and water, that would be mighty fine."

The man nods in agreement, and Richard heads outside to bring his mustang Cardinal to the stall where he can have a well deserved rest. But before he leaves, Richard makes one last note.

"I know some off you might take offence to one of my friends who will be staying here. But I will warn you now, I do not accept no disrespect unless it is fully deserved. Keep your mouths shut and your weapons in your sheaths..." And with that , he was gone to brave the storm for a little while longer.

OOC: I am presumming goblins might still be the target of racism to other races. Hence I brought it up. If ths not the case, then I will remove it.

Uthgar waited until everyone finished and disbanded before speaking to Argent. Its not too big of a deal, but it should be noted that Uthgar will be off to the side and silently listening, and will not speak to anyone before or after: He is extremely introvert.

Subject: to everyone, though less for Shieldwolf

So I guess my character has been approved. His name is Richard Denim, and he is a cowboy-gone-bounty hunter. His alignment will either be that of lawful good or neutral good. Since gunslinger is not a class the DM wants in the world due to world details, I chose to make Richard a cavalier - Dragon Order. I was questioning as to give him the Order of the Shield or Sword, but so far Dragon seems right, though this may be changed before (or after) the game starts.

He is a family oriented man, and his mother and father always taught him to do the right thing, even if it adds hardship to yourself. He has the personal philosophy that life is all about Give and Take, that what goes around comes around, and second chances should always be given.

I gave him a couple of character faults. First of all, he is exceptionally gullible, and often believes people are telling the truth - this also means he does not really have it in him to lie.

He also has a major weakness for women. He is a major flirt, and women can take advantage of this, though they will find that he will not consciously do evil for them.

Thirdly, he has a deep sense of honor, and has no qualms with challenging someone to a dual. He believes in the ancient fundamentals of the "Trial by Ordeal", that is: if two people fight, the victor will be right because of righteous sake. Richard is also willing to defend the honor of others, even those he does not know very well. He defends the weak, and if they have no champion, then he will gladly step in to aid them.

Richard's has traveled much of the realm with his mustang Cardinal. Richard has raised the mount since he was a foal, and before they started adventuring and seeking law breakers, the two had done a certain amount of ranching with the Denim family.

If there are any questions that pop up in your heads on my character, post em! Examples may include" what is his favorite color? Favorite food? Did he have any childhood romances? In fact, I think I will answer these myself.

I am doubling up on this character, and using him for a musical I am writing, where he will be called "Kid Eastwood" Heck, I might even use the name for this character. Anyways, hope this adventure goes well, and hope Richard/Kid will be able to get along with his compatriots, whomever they are!

and I was thinking of a human that would be a human cowboy... would there be any place for him in this campaign? If so, then I have a few questions on your house rules:

1) Does he have to have a craft skill? could't he just as easily have a profession skill?

2) Can he have his sub-class be a gunslinger? I would almost prefer this to be his primary class, but I am doubting you would give the go ahead for that. On the subject as a sub-class, I understand that he would still probably not have a gun by then... but come on, its a cowboy!

my current thoughts are that he would be a Cavalier (Shield Order), and would, as mentioned, have the gunslinger sub-class (or perhaps rogue if gunslinger is a no go).

As to adventuring, we could say that he has left the ranching trade in order to take on bounty hunting... looking for them there varments with them dead or alive posters.

Of course, he would be a real character: drives and traits. I was thinking he would have a hero complex, and also be a womanizer. Perhaps he could also have a couple rival bounty hunters that he fights against? One could be a female that played him for a fool kinda thing.

Yes, when I design characters, I generally try to get to the personality and history before thinking of stats and game mechanics.

So does he sound interesting?

P.S. any lasso rules that he could use?

P.S. Oh yes, I would be using the Ultimate Combat Playtest Round 2: Gunslinger PDF that Paizo.com is letting people use until the actual product comes out.

The half-orc stood to one side as the group talked about the current situation. His eyes were closed, but his ears were well open, taking it all in tow. When offered food, he passively dismisses it: cooked food was not to his taste.

As the meeting comes to an end, and all the guild members go off to do their own business, the half-orc starts to follow the robed dwarf, and silently comes up beside him.

"I," he starts, in a low, dark voice, "am Uthgar. You have gained my respect as a warrior."

If the dwarf responds, he will only get grunts of acknowledgment, but Uthgar listens to what the being has to say.

“So what happens now?”

Aaron Smith was now out, Mr. Avalon subsiding to allow the survivor out. He needed to take this guy out... now! Aaron had taken extensive martial arts training while he was in the military, and he had kept practicing it even when he disbanded from his team. He had not used it much, since he was someone who would normally use a gun to solve his problems, like in the case of the beast the previous night.

However, there was also the concepts of honour: attacking without first informing his prey of the outcome was unsportsmanlike and boring. A riddle would be needed: if he answered right, Aaron will leave him for now. If he failed, then Aaron would soon be using his wood busting fist techniques against this janitor and locking him in his own closet until the end of the day...

"What has less syllables in pronouncing it as a whole then its acronym form? Answer my riddle, and we will settle this on your terms. Answer incorrectly and I choose our battle ground..."

Mr. Avalon was still needed: it was a break from all the carnage and rancor that Mr. Smith went through with every job. They would settle it, but doing so here in the washroom would probably ruin his way of living.

Besides, there is the well being of the... Aaron Smith shook the thought from his head No time for sentimentality, this problem takes precedence...

But the contract was already spoken, he could not back out on the deal now. Only if the man lashes out, will Mr. Smith be able to attack and kill the man here...
