Subject: Data and Materials - Post 5

“Please, would you help us deal with them tomorrow? We can offer free room and board for the night if you’ll help.”

Hidden behind his mask, Lloyd gave dark smile. It entertained him to hear the way these people were so indirect about the situation and the means of rectification. Placing all of his utensils back in their packages, Lloyd placed these kits into a large backpack that was in the chest. He slung the backpack over one shoulder and locked the chest with his free hand – this was all done with the intent of being loud.

Walking up to Svetlana, his cane in hand, Lloyd decided to force her to explain what she meant by ‘dealing’ with the bandits.

“I cannot help but wonder what you would have us do. Your words lead me to conceptualize that we may be outnumbered tomorrow; and even if this was of no concern, I cannot see any holding cell for the miscreants to be ascertained in until the proper authorities can deal with them. There seems to be very little we can do at this moment aside from pleading them to leave you alone... or do you propose a more underhanded tactic in dealing with vagabonds?”

Lloyd taps the tip of his cane on the ground several times as it slides through the grip of his hand, though it only lasts a few seconds before he realizes he is doing it and stops. It is a habit that he has picked up in the last few years: when making illegal innuendo or expecting something bad to happen Lloyd will fidget with his cane – usually by tapping it on the ground. Though he will also twirl it about or swing it like a metronome as well.

Lloyd cocks his head as he looks to the rest of the party. “I personally have no interest in starting a fight with thieves until I know full well what their resources are. I have had to deal with such degenerates in the past, and I have learned that sometimes the weakest looking rouges can have the best resources at hand. Don’t go charging into this until you acquire more data on the subject.”

Lloyd then walks over to the main entrance of the post and points his cane to the closed entryway. “I wish to go forge for a few basic components that may aid me in my profession. I dare not ask any of you to come with me, but I would like to comeback in with no hassle. A password might make for a good precaution – in case I return when it is dark.”

This party seems to be made of quite a few interesting characters. I am genuinely interested in how this all plays out!
I am definitely hoping that Lloyd will get a bit more interested in the others - just give him some time please. Hope to see more great posts!

Subject: Inventory - Post 4

Lloyd took off his mask to consume the contents within the bowl. It was warm and filling, and the flavor was not half bad either. The bread was a little bit old, but it was far better then what he was used to. He did not say anything, nor did he look at anyone while he ate. After finishing his meal, Lloyd placed his mask back on – though his unmoving mouth could have easily sufficed to mask his own thoughts or feelings about the present conditions. He went back to his chest, unlocked it, and grabbed a single silver sovereign and three copper pieces before locking it up once more. Throwing the coins on the table next to his empty bowl, Lloyd strutted back to his equipment and continued to check and recheck his items.
“They’ll be here tomorrow morning, the second of every month. Now I don’t know much about fighting, but I want those thieving craven whore’s sons to remember what fear is. You think you can do that?”
Lloyd was almost awestruck. This man had simply assumed they knew the situation, and was already trying to get them into trouble... It is not that the Lloyd planned to stay out of trouble, for that charter had made it clear that they were here for that. However, just starting a war with what appears to be an organized crime ring sounds kind of silly at this point. The post is presently in bad condition – the catapults in particular have seen better days. Could these thieves be the reason behind this? There were too many factors for Lloyd to commit to fighting right now.
"And, why the second of every month? I assume bandits or raiders of some form or type, but any information you can give us would be useful."
Lloyd rolled his eyes as he lifted a small glass vial with some crystallized sap in it. It was obvious that these thieves were acting as a sort of government in this no-man’s-land. They were collecting taxes of sorts, perhaps as a “protection fee”. Lloyd had similar encounters in the past while living in New Stretven, but he had seen to putting an end to these miscreants in his own way...
It was obvious that the female with the peculiarly coloured hair had very little experience in the matters of underhanded tactics. Though most of these people probably don’t have much knowledge in such things: one looked like he was raised in the wild himself – very fitting for an orc. Two elves had gotten into the party, and one of them looks too flamboyant to worry about the world, while the other looks like he might have slit some throats in the past. And the man who had offered to aid the coachman is probably one of those stupidly obnoxious cavalier types with his honour and code of chivalry – so he has probably incarcerated thieves but understands them little.
And these were the people that Lloyd was going to help. It was going to be one hell of an adventure, though “string of ordeals” would probably be a better term.
(No, Lloyd has not interacted with anyone in this post. If you want to talk to him while he is taking inventory again, please say something to him, otherwise he is off to the side for now.)

FYI: Lloyd will not comment to anyone who talks to him right now. He will mutter under his mask and glare at the people for a second before getting back to work on his utensils. You can incorporate this into the posts if you want - until Sib's next post (He may or may not change at this time).

"If you need more space perhaps you could take one of the back areas in the guest house alongside my spot? I would be willing to help or find people to help put up some form of sound proofing so you may have your privacy... That is, unless you would rather risk being evicted from this ladies estate by her husband." Lloyd's green eyes glared through his long-nosed mask, but he remained silent for a time.

After a short pause, Lloyd grabbed his chest and hoisted it over his shoulder. "It is obvious that you have no idea what work environment I require in order to properly prepare for the coming weeks. I will leave it for the time being, but I will need a portion of a table to take inventory..."

Arrogantly, Lloyd made his way to the table that was less populated of the two tables and dropped his chest onto the surface - though it was a gentle drop. Taking his key that was hung around his neck, the masked man started to go through his items:
-A healer's kit which had all the basics materials for treating injuries minor injuries.
-A surgical kit which consisted of many more precision based tools such as a scalpel, surgical thread, and the like.
-A jar which held four leeches, used for removing impurities of the blood.
-A leather satchel which held his various alchemical tools, such as test tubes, catalysts, and various measuring apparatuses.

Lloyd's primary concern in regards to his equipment was calmed. However, he was still anxious about a certain problem he was still having. He would need to relieve himself, but he would have to wait until later on that night before he could consider doing it safely.

Subject: Demeaning words - Post 2

It was obvious that this place was filled only with bumpkins: clueless country buffoons that only knew how to feed themselves and their food. He stood still while the dull woman blabbed, though he did so because she struck him with her awesome simplicity.
“Claptrap’s the horse,” The woman had added after telling him that he would need to set up his workspace in the stables.

Lloyd took a loud and deep breath while he brought his hand up to his forehead and leaned back. He let out an equally loud and deep sigh – giving away that he was both displeased and unimpressed. He started to rebuke the woman for her pathetic offer.
“I am bewildered at the ludicrous proposal that just came from your mouth! I require a segregated and clean space in order to prepare my medicinal gauzes and apparatuses! Would you wish to have a contaminated syringe injecting a fecal-infested antibody into your blood stream?”

Lloyd watched as the woman ‘Svetlana’ looked at him, her eyebrow slightly raised. She shrugged her shoulders and shook her head.

Again Lloyd gave a deep sigh. Upon calming himself down a bit, the masked man takes to waving his cane in front of the ‘Svetlana’ while he starts talking once more.
“Since your inferior intellect cannot conceive my plight in the form of my superior profession, I will simplify it to something that you might more easily grasp: imagine if I told you to start cooking with that straw blowing about and a horse’s anus overlooking your pot’s open top. Would that make for a good place to make a stew? No? Then why in the nine hells would it be deemed a proper work space for me!?” Placing his cane down on the ground before himself, the Lloyd looks to the wench, awaiting for her apology and newly purposed accommodations.

that is a lot of posts in one night! I am wondering now what the frequency will be for posts in a week might be - I kinda blocked myself with interacting with an NPC, so unless Sib is free this week, I am probably not going to get a post anytime soon (I am thinking a week?).
Good start, it would be amazing if this happens every week!

Lloyd jumped down from the wagon. He had been sitting at the back the whole ride, and planned to be the first off. Landing with decent grace, the masked man turned around and reached for his chest. With ease he slung the chest onto his shoulder and walked to the woman who was babbling the words that were probably her customary greeting.
“Now come, have a seat, lunch is just about ready.”
Ignoring the fact that his mask would probably intimidate her, Lloyd shoves past any of the other strangers who might have passed him while he was dealing with his extra cargo. He looks down at the woman while he talks.
“Yes. I require sustenance, but while I wait I have not intent on lounging about in this open courtyard. Point me to my quarters and I in turn will settle in. Once that is in order I will pay you well to not only let me have the room to myself, but to keep quiet and out of it while I am in. I have much work to do and I do not want anyone disturbing me.”

Topic: Roleplaying is Scholarly!
Subject: Been a while

So it has been a lil' while. Wanted to let all you peeps know that I am now in the midst of writing my 40+ academic paper on the literary merit of Pathfinder, and all tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) by extension.

I know that TTRPGs may not need to be at a table (as RDInn is founded on this principle), but I am kinda writing to a scholarly audience, and I don't see it as being a major detail at this stage - though I may be able to squeeze in there somewhere that TTRPGs do not need to be confined to the medium of verbal speech (this is actually an argument I use anyways - that literature cannot be confined to written text, but can be found in any type of medium and changed to any other type of medium). Pretty neat stuff...

Anyways, I hope I do all us gamers proud! I will be sure to throw the essay somewhere on the interwebz when all is said and done (I got a crap tone of foot notes so I doubt RDInn will be able to format it properly)!

Peace out guys! I am off to write for another 3-4 hours!

The next day, Samuel Avalon was tired, and held less patience for his students; though his temper was still held in check. He kept an eye out for his target; it was obvious that Aaron Smith would need to settle things in the near future.

It was really bothersome, but grading was also required... not much since it was kindergarten, but catching would be required for the past few nights of gallivanting around shooting the shit out of things.

He would also need to make sure that his money was wired to him for his hit the other night... there were plenty of things to do.

“Would that be the World Wrestling Federation? WWF?” Aaron Smith's face was unmoving as the answer was given. He gave a slow blink and gave an intentional pause.

"You should probably work as a janitor for real, since you cannot count." The lash was delicious on the tongue to the hitman, and the psychological warfare also begun. Folding his arms, he gave his instructions quickly and coldly. He decided that he would have this confrontation at the hospital of last night. There may still be police officials around, but that would only make it more interesting. After giving the address, Smith continued. "I will be residing there after classes for the night. Come at your leisure and your own peril. If you do not show up tonight before the strike of 200 hours, I will hunt you down and gut you like a fish." The threat was another amusing addition to the game.

Uthgar was content to stay by the door for the briefing, he was at attention, but did little and said nothing. Richard draws out his hand axe as he hears the movement in the shadow. he then points his bullseye lantern in the general direction of the sound, and peers into the gloom.

"Sounds like we got some big ol' roaches in this building..." Richard hesitantly joked. "What kind of infestation are we talking about here I wonder..."

Richard did not actually state that last remark about cockroaches. It was a thought.

So it sounds like niether of the first two to post have a light source on them. Richard will grab and light his lantern in the minute that it takes Aiden to summon his eidolon. I will make a post alter on today-tomorrow, got to leave for work right now.

Richard Denim takes off his long brimmed hat as the gust of are comes from the house. He waves the piece of head attire a few times in front of his face as he tries to overcome the nauseating smell of the building.

“This place sure does have a distinct odour to it now.” The young man mentions to no one in particular. Placing his hat back on his head, he strokes Cardinal’s face a few times, and then whisper’s to his companion. “Now you just stay here ol’ friend, that place aint big enough for you.” Though the mustang is not a creature blessed with sentient intelligence, Richard knows that the horse understood the drift of what he meant. Cardinal whinnies and nudges at his master’s arm as the man was setting off to enter into the neglected establishment. “Now now there boy, there aint nothin’ to worry about. I got the rest o’ the gang here to watch my back in your place. I will be back shortly.”

The mighty beast shakes its head, and its long golden mane glistens in the sunlight. Richard gives a smile and then walks back to the entrance where perhaps the others are already waiting.

“So, anyone got a torch? If not, I will go back and grab my lantern from the saddle bag.” Richard, at this point, is also looking over his items on him: his hand axe was at his left hip, his crossbow at his back, and a case of 10 bolts on his right hip. With his armor already on, the cowboy-bounty hunter was ready for any fight that might take place... though he doubted that he would need to use such weapons against cockroaches.

Subject: Summoner eh?

I tried playing a summoner once, and to my surprise I hated it. The eidolon is too combat oriented, and the summoner has good attack and hp. I have been working on my own format for the summoner where the character gets a d6 for hp and a poor BAB. Also, the eidolon in my version has the player customize it a bit more, and allows for intelligent/Insightful/charismatic type eidolon's for the role playing aspect.

Anyways, hope our team does well as new recruits for the Wolf's Pack.

Yeah, having too many martial oriented players will be a bit awkward, but that is no big deal. My personal philosophy is that everyone should play what they want to, not what the group 'needs'.
