Subject: Spilt the Party?

"I would agree Galen, we should investigate 'The Roost'. However," I look to Irthos for verification, "it may not be wise for the six of us to all meander over there at once. Should we split into two groups and head over there by two alternate rountes? Or would you say that it should be safe enough to travel there. I am pressuming als getting up there would pose problems both physically and socially. It sounds like a place that is forbidden-to-outsiders protocal."

(Unless anyone else had an alternate objective we could do, 'spliting up' is meant only for enroute to the place)

Aaron decided that whatever this dealer was up to, it was extremely out there. Chanting, rituals, all that shit was given in brief when he accepted the job. However, he did not think that it would be anything 'serious'. Perhaps K.K.K. stuff, free masons, that kind of thing.

But this was different, and Aaron knew it. The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end; a feat that did not occur that often.

The Hitman spat at himself in shame. This was no time to worry. He was Arron: the man of mystery and greatness. Throwing caution to the wind was his way! The game must commence, and seeing as how the finatics were down below singing kumbaya, it was only logical that their leader; his target, would also be in that area.

Queitly the man stepped towards the stairs.

I can do nothing but blink several times with both eyes. In a matter of moments since our arrival, our small expedition has been thrown into a civil war between religions. What is more, these lizardfolk assume, if I take thier leader's words as words of physical confrontation, that were are experienced in the ways of combat.

I am wearry of the predicament. I want this whole 'kill the human infidels' situatiuon to cease, but things are running a bit to smoothly. Along with the pressumtion that we know how to fight (against a cult of all things), these creatures are also willing to trust us, even though it was our kind that assassinated the original leader in the first place. I am sure that such behaviour would normally bring about some sort of prejudice; for as much as I hate to admit it, such a thing would probably happen to me if the role of kobold and human were switched around in this case.

(Sense Motive check resolved)

But then again, desperate times call for desperate measures, and his words ring true on the beliefs of peace between our two civilizations.

I clear my throat as I prepare my own personal response. (I will ask this whether or not the rest of the group shares this mindset with me. I am simply trying to understand what we would be expected to do before we agree/disagree to join this kobold in reveloution)

"Master Irthos, your words are immersed in wisdom, and it is more then sound that we should cooperate with you in order to bring this violence to an end. I may not speak for the others in this situation but only meself in this one factor however: I do not wish to perpatrate violence in order to remove violence. atleast not unless it is a last resort. So what do you mean when you state that we must 'assist you in your attempts to remove the cult and be chosen to lead your people in the future'?"

It does not seem likely that anyone here would knowanything about the kobolds. Infact it seems that the two parties are trying to avoid each other at the moment. I stand up after Ryu leaves, stating my thoughts.

"Perhaps it will be best if we all head to this enterance and see if we can go about things a little more civily. Ryu himself had suggested we do this, and I for one agree with the idea. There is no reason for us to initiate combat at the moment so lets just see what we can gather from the kobolds themselves."

Tipping the wide brim of his ‘Undertaker’ hat, Aaron slinked back into the shadows for a moment as the two rather curious figures started to converse in front of the crumbling hospital. The two were talking, and even though Aaron had an extremely good sense of hearing, he could not pick out any words between the two; but it’s not like he card either. There was but one target, and unless these two were actually going to enter the degrading building; there was practically nothing that they had to offer him.

Making sure that he had his duster secured, Aaron skulked off towards the hospital’s backside. No need for theatrics for this mission, though the standard game rules would be implemented. The game of Cat and Mouse was about to begin. Whether his target lived or died was not fully up to Aaron, but also the target himself. If he played the game right, he could leave here a living being of flesh and blood; but if he played improperly, or decided to go against the rules, the authorities would find a bullet hole between his eyes…

As much as I had a paid obligation to sort out the Kobold conflict, I had a moral obligation to an adorable Japanese child. It would only be proper that I bring the letter to her father right away. This way, I could not lose it, or negate the chances of it getting ruined. Seeing as how the town is rather small, I decide that it would be rather easy to find this man of exotic looks. I inform my friends of my plans, believing to be no more than an hour long, and I set out.

Aquarius, latched onto the inside of my left sleeve, crawls out in a rather slow and inconspicuous manner. Her spider –like legs tickle my skin as she crawls to my neck.

It is rather kind of you to go out of your way for a child. Your heart is very similar to that of my previous master.

I smirk as my gem once again refers to her ‘master’. I know who it is, at least in essence. And if the time is correct, he should have ascended to godhood, at least to that of a minor tier. Aquarius would be referring to his inner love for children: their innocence, their imagination, their pure love. In fact, it was this connection to the young one's of the world that gave him his ability to ascend to the form of a deity.

Personally, I am not a big fan of children: a horde of them is scary to think about. I rarely get along with them, as I have given up the ability to lower my language / understanding in order to relate to them. Ocassionally, however, I find one that is mature enough that I may enjoy my time with him/her. Suzume seems competent enough that I could stand her, plus she was adorable, as all little girls are.

Aquarious chuckles
As I said, your heart is just like his.

“She is correct, however,” Mrs. Sakamoto returned to us, “my son, Ryuunosuke, is currently on business in Vulcasa. If you find yourselves in trouble, you may wish to contact him for assistance. Are there any questions from my employees now?”

"So all we need do is restore peace to the area? Is that what I am understanding? We will only need to bear arms if our tounges can not do the work?"

I do not really know all that much about Kobolds an their society, but surely they would much rather preffer a relationship of mutual benifit as opposed to losing their own loved ones in combat. I give a look to Mrs Sakamoto. It is not a glare, but it does however, give the stern unspoken message that she had best answer correctly. Fighting daemonic forces that slaughter for pleassure is one thing, but in the case of a people who simply have different opinions, extermination should not be the standard reaction.

“Very well, as punishment for her impertinence, my grand-daughter will show you out. Good day and may fortune smile on you.”

I look at Suzume with the same warm smile that I had given her when last we met. Perhaps in her grand/parent's society, speaking out like that may be considered rude; heck it might even be considered rude to anyone doing a bussiness deal; but I found it heart warming that she would feel comfortable enough to talk infront of us. Upon reaching the exit, I decide that I like, and am willing to do something nice for her.

"We wont be leaving until tomorrow. So I was wondering, would you like to write to your father? I would make sure that he gets your letter. Then maybe, if he still needs to wokr up there, I could bring a letter from him back." Ofcourse I am not sure exactly how old she is, or if she can write at all. If she makes this known to me, I would be willing to help her make a note. Further more, I have enough wealth at the moment that I would also be willing to pay for the materials should she not have them/ her grandmother not willing to lone them.

I give a certain amount of my platinum and gold to Ben.
"Here is my share for the wagon, I am going with Galen, Ian, and Owen to the blacksmith. I am thinking I want a shield as well, after using that one against the Yeth Hound.

Following the trope to the black smith, I put in my order:
1 Heavy Steel Shield
1 Suite of the heaviest armor I can afford
If required, I will get these things in the morning, along with Suzume's letter.

It has been eons since my last encounter with mortals.

My little stone companion told me. I gave a smile. For all that she let on in being scholarly and other-worldly, she seemed to be rather interested in the world around us as we had traveled to Mrs. Sakamoto's place. I could feel an emotion being stimulated from Aquarious after I had made this note of her actions.

Just because I am taking in the surroundings does not mean that I am or have been distant from this world. On the contrary, I have always tried to keep a close eye on things in this realm of existence, but due to my own state; have found it hard to observe in such a close proximity of the subjects in question. What is more is that my normal physical incarnation limits me because mortals have a sense of fear and awe when they see me. This is the first time that I have been able to truly see how your folk live their lives... outside the confines of burnish battle and sacred prayer.

I only smile. Perhaps it was not my place to question my companion's actions and words, as she is an immortal being, who's existence far surpasses my own in experience and knowledge; but none the less I find some amusement in her antics; it makes me feel safe; for it shows me that she indeed has the ability to have varying emotions.

It is good to hear that my new “master” feels safe around a small, precious gem. Did you believe me to be... 'stone cold'?.

Aquarious chuckles a bit at her own pun. I on the other hand make a XD emotion in my own head. Though she does not know the exact details of the sign, the sentiment is still passed on to her.

Tut. I know that you have a spot in your mind for that low form of humour you folk call 'puns'. How is it that you find your own hilarious but you cannot give a smirk to mine?.

Its all in the presentation Miss Aquarious. A grand being from another dimension doing it makes staggers me back a bit more then another mortal being.

My word Master Corelife! You spoke to me via direct thought!!

I am instantly bombarded with an explosion of thoughts. I feel like my brain is going to fart out, but as soon as this concept reaches my power stone, the thoughts cease.

My apologies. I mistook your ability to communicate directly as a sign of growth, Perhaps I overestimated you still.

I laugh out loud. Truly Aquarious is a being who is stooping to a level that will allow me to proficiently use her. I cannot imagine the humility that she has to en devour such a degrading situation.

Subject: Aquarious the Psicrystal

She is going to take the "Sage" personality with +3 to Religion. Owen can use her as he wills, let her talk as she might, and let her know whatever he thinks she should be allowed to know. I have altered this Psicrystal because though it is normally a psionic based creature, it is in part divine (as we all are). And as we ourselves do not really need Knowledge check to divine what a creature is necessarily (because of previous knowledge), so too am I allowing Aquarious to have her previous knowledge from her experiences as a subject for our goddess and god who summoned us. If there are any hating such an alteration, please mention it and I will change it. I am not trying to OP myself, I just want to add a little twist which make the story seem interesting and unique. Since I am not going to stay a psion forever, I am also allowing myself the ability to have a companion which can be used later when I switch to my other preferred classes. Thank you and enjoy my posts... now to have a shower and start on my essay(s)!!!

Subject: Enter the Psicrystal of Knowledge

I lay down to sleep in my room. How good it is to flop onto a bad without fear of a monster or a bandit coming to get you as you slumber. I am exhausted, and within minutes I am out like a light and dreaming. I was surrounded by the white light, there was no more darkness to cradle me in despair. And the female voice again spoke to me in a kind and gentle tone.
“You are incomplete.” She stated. At first I felt offended by such a declaration, but my I was humbled by a goddess, and I took it in, surely she will explain herself. “While reaching for you, another struck my wrist. The summoning was only half completed. Both you and your friends are not as you should be because of that blunder. The failure is mine, I am sorry.” I am silent. I was only halfway summoned? That explains why I was in a graveyard separate from the rest of the group, and also why I had amnesia when I first opened my eyes to this world... what else happened to me in that transition...

“With every enemy you fell, you become stronger, but you will never achieve that which you were summoned for as you are. I had initiated a companion for you, but she had been postponed due to the hardships that I had encountered. She is a divine being, but she is also a reflection of you as well.” I interpreted that as how some do the Christ: 100% human and yet 100% divine. A paradoxical existence, but one that was allowed. The voice continued. “As you are not as you should be, she too is not what she is. The two of you will travel and grow together in the harmony of your mind of present, but later it will be a of your soul that she shall grow with.” I nod my head. “She is the Serene Sage of the Seas. When you awake, she will be at your side.” I nod silently again.

When the time is right, I will inform you on how to repair the damage that was done to your fate. For the time being, let the light in your heart guide your decisions. Farewell.” With that I had dreamless slumber, and I would awaken with the best rest I have ever had.

I awoke the next morning to hear the sound of thunder. I stretch in my bed. I feel amazing. I look up at the ceiling as I reflect on the dream. I smile as the final words still ring in my ears with a beautiful chime: “et the light in your heart guide your decisions”. I continue to repeat these words when suddenly another voice chimes into my head. It is in the common 'tongue', and is female. Her 'voice' as it were; had a a short echo in it, and was calming in tone.

My mistress is one worthy of repetitious meditation, but I think you are not entirely focused on the whole of her message.

I jump at the sound of another voice in my head as I am awake. I look about me, but there is nothing that my eye can perceive. Suddenly a small stone rose where it was lying: on my chest. Eight tiny, semi translucent blue legs had sprouted from its side, and it crawled to my shoulder and latched these newly formed legs to my cloths. I shot up ate the movement, and I did not know what flabbergasted me more: the fact that there was a “talking” crawling stone, or that I had been sleeping on my back and had not moved all night. I think the latter was more of a shock.

Impetuous aren't we? Your mind is clouded with many thoughts at once, at least when something unexpected arises. I suppose that considering my existence in the material realm is based on your mental prowess, my diminutive and weak body can be explained.

The voice gave a little chuckle. I did not know how to respond, so I decided that an open jaw and remaining quiet would be the best way to go about things... actually it was just some primitive reaction so I did not really choose it. I gawked at the 'creature' before me. It was a gem. A sapphire which was perfectly cut to be a smooth sphere. No flaws could be seen either on the surface or within the gem. Again the thing laughed.

I am sorry, I know it is not your fault for my present state..

She paused, presumably 'looking' at my present expression.

Close your mouth dear, it makes you look profoundly stupid.

I followed her instructions without thought.

thank you. Now, where was I? Ah yes, my present state. As it has already been explained by my mistress. I will simply explain my purpose. Presently, I will be acting more like a guide to you and the others. My fighting prowess is obviously lower then your own, so I recommend that I will act as the brains while you will be more of the brawn in our relationship. As for later, you may very well become my equal as we both proceed with Ritual of Baptismal Light....

The instructions are relayed to me for a while. I slowly become more comfortable around this creature as she speaks concisely on what is happening and what will happen. I suppose it is like a small child having the guiding and caring hand of a mother to guide him through the alien world. Soon I start to smile as she speaks. When she concludes her “tutorial on life” speech, I clear my throat as I am ready to speak.

Please, use your mind for communication, verbal impediments are sluggish and tiresome.

I then try speak to her in my mind.
My name is Raymond Corelife. It is a pleasure to meet you. The words 'come out' all whirly and uncontrolled. I admit to myself that I had never tried to communicate by such means before.

Understandable. Then perhaps I should tell you to simply think, do not think to speak. In such a manner as focusing on words in fact makes them unfocused and obscure. At least for the moment that is the case. Later you may be able to communicate more clearly, but for the moment just express thoughts as the obscure feelings you have..

I decide that this seems reasonable and proceed to nod.

The physical gesture is not required, but it is good that you are a mailable and agreeable person. I was worried that I may have to deal with another domineering person.

Domineering? Another? These questions pop into my head as questions, and apparently she picks up on them.

It is nothing. As for myself, I have gone by many names: Leviathan, Kelpie, even Kraken. However, to those who have proven themselves worthy to be my friends, I am known as Aquarius. You may refer to me by this name.

I smile. I think I know who the 'Domineering one is, but I decide not to press into it. Not now, for perhaps I am simply misguided in what I believe to be true.

After some time discussing the present situation with Aquarius, I decide to that it is time to head downstairs and meet with the others and introduce her to the rest of my companions. However: I am informed that she will be unable to speak clearly with them, as she is to weak to make telepathic contact with any other creature besides the vessel which anchors her to this realm. Understanding, The two of us head downstairs to meet with the rest of the group for breakfast.

I thank the woman for the payment that was endowed to us. I do not know what exactly was on the scroll: if it had enlightened her on what had transpired midway through the job... It is not that I wanted the group to have have less money, or to uplift myself and Owen because we stayed with the group; I just wanted her and Mr. Sakamoto to know the full story. I explain how we split up, seeing as how the town was in a more immediate threat than the small caravan of two people. I apologize for that and wait for her reaction.

(presuming she still wants to give us the job)

I state that as a group, we are keen of mind and body, the town which we saved is a witness to this. We defeated a "demonic" figure, its corpse nothing but ash and smoke as it returned to its home plane. I will gladly give my all for the next job given to me, as I did for the last. My compatriots have also shown that they have a great deal of insight and understanding; they too will do their best.

(Allows others to speak for themselves, and for Mrs. Sakamoto to give her final decision.)

(If the gold count is less then 1000 GP for the job, I will do a diplomacy check for a 50% increase from the original price if it involves/may involve fighting because we have proven ourselves reliable in combat. If it is 1000 gp, or if there is nothing extremely dangerous about the job, I will hold my tongue on the bartering bit... I can always do it later if we meet with some complications)

(Do I get some 'points' towards law/good due to my actions in the past job and my open presentation of what happened?)

I wonder if we (as a whole) will be able to get another job for Master Sakamoto... considering we neglected to finish the first job which was a simple "travel with said people" job. If I were an employer, I would not higher such people to do anything important, the trust has been broken. But perhaps he has a moral compass unlike most merchants. It was unlikely, but it is a possibility. After reading the note from Lady Emeritta, I decide there is nothing better to really do until then. Besides, Owen and I need to get our payment from the last job.

My eyes strain as the monster bellows. My pregonation showed me a split second prior that it would rear up a bit and howl, but it could not prepare me for the actual thing. For a moment I hesitate, closing my eyes and struggling against the flood of thoughtless fear that tries to overwhelm me. But in this split second, the female voice from my dreams comes back to me: “Do not doubt yourself”.

My eyes snap open. The fear is no longer surging through m body. In fact, I feel all the more bold because of the Herald of light that I feel is with me. I take a step back and reverse my blade for better defense. I bring the shield of hope that Dana has given me, and with it to protect me, I force the power of my mind to create a force of lethal energy. I start to see the veins in my eyes glowing gold as the energy intensifies. The sensation is almost overwhelming, but before it gets to out of hand, I release it upon my foe. I watch, hoping that my mental assault will be enough to severely wound it.

This creature had killed a man already. And from its performance while Owen and I were away indicate that it wishes to add more to its human casualties. For the future of this town, I will give my life to protect it… to protect them. I draw my sword and done the shield that Dana had given me.

I look into the barn. The darkness will not aid us in our fight, but will most likely aid our foe. I turn to our torch bearer(s), and choose to stay next to Owen.

“Owen, keep your guard up. I will help you as you do you’re… ‘tactical maneuvers’…” I use innuendo as I look back to the townsfolk a few paces behind us. I wait for Owen to respond in a way to confirm my idea.

“Tell, me… are we all going in the one entrance way at once? Or are we staggering our assault or going in through multiple entrances?” I have not scouted the barn’s layout, but I presume there has to be at least one window that could be used for an alternate entrance or exit. Or perhaps there is another door on the opposite side of the barn. I do not know, but asking would enlighten me.

As we get ready to enter into the barn, I activate my power to see into the future. My vision turns purple once more as ‘prior-images’ are placed into my field of vision. I am ready for the fight. But how we are going to get this thing out into the open is beyond me.

"They've found it," he said, and vanished, leaving the door ajar in his wake.

"Lets go," Ben said shortly, running out to follow the villager.

This is my chance. I draw my sword in the reverse style that I had used in the last fight against wolves. I look to Ben, who now has his shield that we bought back in Corazon. I think back to the fight with the wolves, and how the shield had aided me so much in that fight. I needed a shield, and I was afraid that there was only one other person in town who I could go to for such a thing.

Dana was sitting in the local tavern, her sword and shield at the ready. I had pulled up a seat beside her and ordered a drink of water... I have not yet drunk alchol, and dont think now would be the time to start. I clear my throat and begin my bold manuever to the middle aged woman.

"Dana" I say quietly, soothingly. I do not wish to come off too demanding, i know that this is a sensitve subject. She has a stoic look on her face, giving no clues to what was on her mind. I sigh to regain compossure. "My lady... I know this is bold of me to ask of you..."

"I am not a lady." She flatly states. Her voice and face show niether resentment nor bliss for the term that I have so loosley used. She simply stated a fact, but after the interuption on correcting the issue, she fell silent again to hear me out.

"My appologies Miss Dana, I quiet often use words that may not be appropriate for the context. I am sorry if I offended you." She shrugs. I clear my throat as i continue with my request "I am in great need of that shield," Her eyes widen, and I know I must finish my explination if I am to win it over for the coming days. "I know it must be of great importance to you, the as a part of your husband's soul resides within it; and with this fact, I garuntee you that I would treat it with the greatest of care as I protect this town of the blight that has befallen it. upon ridding this world of the beast, I will quickly return it to your possesion." Her eyes soften a bit, "Please, lend me your husband's shield... lend me his strength to protect what is important to him, to you, and though I be a stranger, me."

She is quiet at first, but she sheds a single tear after a moment.
"You really know your ways with words..." She falls short as she does not know my name.

"Oh! You can call me Raymond. Raymond Cu... Corelife. Raymond Corelife." A Psuedonem. I did not see it as a lie, but rather a correction.

"Well Mr. Corelife. I think my husband would have wanted a young man like you to wield this shield. I know I am not the best at using a blade and shield, and I dont pretend to be; I just wanted to do my best to protect my home." I nod silently in support. "I think I will place my bet on your skill rather then mine though. If you are traveling with those others that fought last night, then you should probably have more battle experience then myself." I smile and giggle a bit. How absurd it sounded that someone was looking up to me in the ways of martial prowess. "Yes, I think you would do well with my shield" She smiles then “You'll be going in first, anyway... You know, you remind me a lot of him, when he was younger.” As her eyes open from the smile, I see a new sense of life in them; hope perhaps? It mighht have been something else, but I needed to get with the rest of the group to assial the barn which we had found the creature residing in.

Topic: The Day They Woke Up on the Wrong Side of Reality
Subject: Dream

My heart strings get pulled on as I see the fallen wolf in such pain, the whimper reminding me of a domestic dog. I take some of the cloth where the other wolf bit me, and rip it off of my pant leg. I try to bandage the wolf’s wounds and sustain it blood flow from seeping out of it. I wonder... is it a Worg or a normal wolf? I never tried to learn the difference between the two, so I couldn’t really tell right now. But it does not matter. I try to bandage it.
(If I fail at sustaining the wolf, I plunge my sword into its heart, giving it a quick and painless death)

Upon reaching the settlement of Surton, and hearing the dreadful tale that Jeremy, Ian, Galen, and Ben went through the previous night; I feel smitten with guilt. I had left my fellow companions, and they could have died had it not been for the beasts own retreat. I had gambled with human lives; luckily no one was killed in this situation. I shiver as I imagine the hunter that had been killed by the thing. I then imagine the children that I had encountered in the same mangled state.
“Jeremy, I am sorry. We were at a bit of a clash yesterday, and I am glad you stayed behind to protect these people. I will do my best to help tonight to make up for my absence.”

“So what do we know about the demon dog?” I asked, “Do we have any evidence whether it’s an actual outsider?” Owen asked later on in the conversation. I tried to imagine a beast that could have any resemblance to that which was described, both through its vague physical descriptions and the detail put into its abilities. Nothing. I could not think of anything that could be exactly as the group talked about. It most certainly could not have been a winter wolf or hell hound, for it most certainly would have used its breath weapon on such a large group of victims as was described of the previous night’s encounter. It also could not have been a werewolf due to the fact that the disease had not spread at all in recent months. The description of a howling ability that gave way to supernatural fear was alien to me. I had no idea. But still there was something to be discerned, perhaps by voicing the clues, someone else might be able to pick up the numbers and connect the dots for me.

“So we know that it tends towards the night. We also know that physical weapons of iron and steel have little effect against it, yet fire seems to do a tad. And it has the uncanny ability to strike fear into even the strongest of us...” I look to Ben. He had done the most damage, according to the reports of several onlookers and partakers of the battle. With such an effect, one would think that his moral would be extremely high. But even he managed to fly away at the dreaded howl... “I would assume this howl is other-worldly, though it is loosely used. It must have been magical, for I know none of us here are cowards... except perhaps Owen and me.” I say the last part with a bit humour involved. In past encounters, I had shown less prowess in the way of battle for Ben, Ian, Galen, and Jeremy; but Owen should know that I have gained a bit of confidence since my tutorage under Ben. Overall, however, I hope that it would loosen us up a bit. There is no sense for extreme stress to be involved; after a certain point such an environment would only hinder our performance.

After our deductions with the beast and its clues to the identity of it; I ask for out nights tactics.
“What is the plan for tonight? Will we split up, or are we all going to stay as one group? Will we be hunting this thing, or playing defensive?” If we are going to split up into an offence and defence, I wish to join the group that will stay behind. “The best offence is a good defence.” Is what I would say. Of course, if the others think I would be best served in the field of the hunt, I will oblige. For too long I have been more of a hindrance to the group then a person of aid and support. I will prove to them and to myself that I am just as influential and need to the group as any other; even if I do not yet have full confidence in my capabilities.

I ask for a few hours rest however. I have traveled most of the day, and if I am to fight, I want to be in my best condition. I go off and take a power nap. As I sleep, I dream. I dream of Lady Emerita, but surprisingly, not in the sexual context. I dream of her regal form; not just her physical body, but how she upholds it; the way she acts and reacts to everything around her. I dream of her as she slept in our group that night, when she could have easily slept in the carriage. I dream of our small conversations as we travelled, how she was willing to amuse a complete stranger (who was under her according to her teachings), and the sincere smile she gave me when we did interact with each other.

Then I dream of Aeth. The noble knight who was entrusted with Emerita’s life. He was zealous and firm. He was willing to put his life on the line for his lady, and would have nothing around her that would endanger her. When villains came at them, he fought with a dedication that bolstered the moral of the others. I dreamed of desire for these attributes, these responsibilities, and this confidence.

Darkness starts to enshroud me as I fall into despair. A voice of rage and spite fills my head. It is my voice, yet it is not. A poison is in its words, and it seems contorted from myself image; yet I know its words are true
“How could one such as you even dream of such a ludicrous thing? To be a knight? To be a protector of the weak? How could you? How dare you!” I start to weep; my hands cover my face in shame. My voice laughs in spite. “How could you be such an entity of hope? You are a coward who hides inside while the battle is fought amongst you. You are the one who cannot finish what you start; when it is required, you cannot finish a life that threatens life. You can never become something as you have profanely put into desire this moment in time. Discard it, and be forever the coward you were meant to be!” I reflect on the events that this voice describes; the thief and zombie incidents and the dying wolf whom I aided that very day. Was I to forever be a creature of cowardice? Was I forever to be a shadow of a man? Perhaps that is why I chose black as my primary color for my clothes. Subconsciously I knew that I was nothing but one who would hide in the darkness, and leave the danger for the rest of them.

I was without hope. I was drowning; drowning in the shades of fear and self-loathing.

But, then out of nowhere, a bright white light forms. It is faint at first, but it steadily gets stronger, and seems to get closer to me. While I float limply in the cesspool of hate, it slowly proceeds to my side. It takes human shape, but does not speak. From the corner of my eye, I see that it is Lady Emerita. Her hand caresses my forearm, and a soothing voice is instilled in my head. It is Lady Emerita’s voice, yet it is not her voice... I recognize it vaguely as the woman’s voice from the dream I had before entering this realm of existence.

“Do not doubt yourself. Reflect on your intentions and you will see the truth behind it all.” Such simple words. And they seem to draw me back to those events that the sinister voice had brought up.

The thieves: I had nothing to fight with, and was still frazzled with the encounter with the seemingly infinite ghosts of the grave yard. I could do nothing at that point: I was unarmed and unable to use offensive powers. Any person of battle must know when to fight, and how. To fight for sake of honour alone is self-corroding. It must be done for a cause, and this cause is what will lead to one’s rising to glory.

The zombies: My entire intent was on Lady Emerita and her safety. In this case, I had found my cause and committed myself to it. I was in front of her to take any hit that may have caused her harm, and acted defensively to take as many hits as I could. This way I could buy time for others to save the lady. Putting others safety before my own is honourable; and to place the sake of others before ones honour is also a test many fail; this is what causes much pain in the world today.

The wolves: Mercy is a universal commodity. Either everything deserves it, or nothing does. To give into one’s feelings and desires lowers us to the state of monster or daemon.

The shadows recede as the entity of light shows me the virtues of my actions. I become baptised in this light, and feel refreshed. The entity speaks verbally to me.
“You will get your chance to become that which you desire.” She says “But remember, no one knows the human heart; not even the person himself.” With this, the vision fades.

I awaken. Prepared to take my orders and fight with all my might. I will fight; for hope, for love, and most importantly, for the sanctity of life.

Owen was in need of help, i was sure of it. But this animal was still trying to get at me even though it was sevearly injured. Most animals would run if they got into this kind of trouble without a pack to support them.

Perhaps it would be more easily influenced, having a huge gash cut in it from my sword. I knew at this point that I coould kill it; if with anything else I could prob into its mind and destroy its psyche. But I am soft at heart. I don't like killing, even animals.

I shout out in an agressive manner, trying to imitate the bears I have seen on television while they are on thier hind legs. I might not have a lot of gurth on me, but i hoped it would be enough to make the wolf decide that it should stick to weak, sick animals as oppossed to humans.

Subject: Rules of the House

1. Playable Races:
- All palyers (aside from Tispers) shall play a kobold.

2. Ability scores: choose from one of the following
4d6 (take out lowest)
25 point buy
Elite Array

3. Classes:
-Refer to Races of the Dragon for detailed synopsis on how Kobold Society looks at individual classes.
-I will not restrict any class or prestiege class, but you better have a good back story if it is a unique class for the race. (For instance, why would a Palidin Kobold work/serve a Lawful evil dragon...)
-Your favored class is whatever class you took at level 1.
-cross-classing deductions are lame, so I say that if you can get prestige classes to tie the classes together, i am going to ignore it all together. Such a classic example would be a wizard/fighter going into eldritch knight.

4. Starting Level
-Tispers: 30
-Shades331, rivertothesea, Sibelius Eos Owm: 20
-Others: 15 (or less if you choose)

5. HP
-Always take the max of your HD. You are a hero! None of this Barbarian with 20HP at 20th level for rolling 1s!

6. Alignment
-This campaign will primarily be leaning towards lawful evil. Lawful Neutral, Neutral, and Neutral Evil characters are welcome. Outside of these alignments, request permission.

7.Game Play
-Postings should be of decent length; but the primary focus is on roleplaying. Having believable characters with personality, history, and goals are a must
-Leave the potty language in the gutter where it belongs please

8. Chararca's Musket
Anyone who knows anything about size categories and weapons would instantly be able to tell you that Chararca's Musket "Dragon Eye" is being illegally used. He is using a Large Musket (two handed weapon) and he is a small creature. even with monkey grip, he would under normal circumstances be inable to use such a weapon. As DM, I am allowing myself to use such a weapon at many penalties.
-Whenever Chararca fires Dragone Eye, he counts as being bull rushed 5 feet, provoking attacks of oppertunity.
-After fireing, if Chararca dos not succeed a Balance DC 30, he goes prone.
-It takes Chararca a full round to reload
-Chararca requires the monkey grip feat in order to use Dragon Eye.
-As Sibelius Eos Owm reminded me: Rule of Cool. Dont get angery at this exception to the rules; just enjoy it.

Subject: Geography

Fal Denthanus' reigns in an area of badlands that surrounds his lone volcanic keep. It is a treacherous with jagged rocks, extreme heat, abyssal-like canyons, and towering plateaus. Vegitaions is limited to a few simple cacti, and a few trees where an oasis might be found.

Creatures are primarily of the cold-blooded kind; many of which are poisonous. Sub-terrainin life is a bit more varried; with creatures ranging from moles and mice to the occasional underdark creature such as the hook-horror, and umberhulk.

Ocassionally a caravan will travel through Fal Denthanus' domain; and he sends kobolds to gather a toll. If the kobolds are rejected (either in coming home with no money or being killed), An example is made of the people, leaving only a couple survivors to tell the tale. If however, they do pay tribute, Kobolds are instructed to escort the troupe, saving the people time, supplies, and lives.

A Blue dragon (and Fal Denthanus' most immediate threat) resides in the southern section of this wasteland. His name is Vurlymakipvearox, and though he is older then Fal Denthanus, he is a stranger to these lands; having moved in some twenty years ago. the Dragon is extremly cruel, loud, and active; provoking Fal Denthanus to open fights in the air on several occasions. If it were not for the devout kobolds that serve Fal Denthanus, the Pyroclastic dragon might have perished when the dragon first entered the region.

To the west is an expanded mountain range, on the opposite side there is a lush temperate rainforest. A Green dragon rules this land, Shareing it with Elves, Pixes, and other Fey that she wishes were either enslaved or exterminated.

The north western part of the range is ruled by a mighty Silver Dragon, who surveys his land on mighty wings. A young White dragon has taken up brooding in this area, but she will not survive long if she angers the far stronger Silver in any way. As it is, the Silver is tolerante of her exsitence, but he has made it clear that if she brings any un-provoked violence in his terettory, her life is forfiet.

Far to the east lies another mountain range, and beyond it is an expansive marsh held by a black dragon. This land is extremely far away, and is of little concern to Fal Denthanus.

Having this expansive network of knowledge and underground tunnels, many caravans have taken up Fal Denthanus' gift of passage. Without him, many of the dragons in the surrounding area would have well taken advantage of these travellers; but others had long ago offended the Dragon-king of these lands, and so tales have been told of his sinister acts, eating men, women and children and leaving others maimed physically and mentally for their "infidelity". This has lead to many adventurers coming to destroy this threat. Though none have returned...

Subject: Dramatis Personae

Krinth Ka'rath:
A fragile Kobold Who in his old age is on his last limb. He is the explosives expert of the colony, and is in charge of the mine's expansion and reinforcment. He took to studies long ago and had become a wizard of sorts while learning alchemy. The colony disdains his choice, but none can refute his supieror intelect in the ways of explosives.
He is reclusive and unpopular. Sharp of tounge, and hot in temper, he hates people who are unintelligent and has few friends. Amoung those few is Chararca, who was more then willing to befriend someone who aided in the design and creation of Darastix Sauriv. Chararca sees this as a form of expression; showing Krinth's Loyalty to the Dragon-king

Vurlymakipvearox:
Vurlymakipvearox is loud, boisterous, and obnoxious.
Silence annoys him; even when soaring a mile above the
earth he roars, bellows, and laughs raucously to himself.
His prey inevitably hear him coming before they see him—
but even such advance warning is seldom enough, for he is
as persistent and rapacious as he is noisy.

Vurlymakipvearox resides north of Fal Denthanus' territory, but often enough disturbs the Pyroclastic dragon by entering into the rival dragon's domain; killing kobold patrols or terrorizing carravans. The latter scenario has given rise to many heros coming to slay Fal Denthanus, as they believe it was he who has been doing these acts.

While Vurlymakipvearox has age and strength on his side; Fal Denthanus has his Kobold legions. Niether has yet been able to finish the other off, and it is a standoff that should not last much longer.
