Subject: Post 1 - Morning Introductions

Walking down stairs from his bed quarters, Reginald Lockmeister was ready to take on the world. Equipped with his shillelagh and dandy top hat, and with his good friend Colonel Kreed on his shoulder, and his fabulous moustache perfectly trimmed and proper, he was sure to make a name for himself once more.

Having just lost his entire estate to a divorce, Reginald needed to find a new means of income, and had decided to turn to the magic arts of wizardry. There is a huge kafuffle when people here of his talents – generally people confuse him as a necromancer as opposed to one who focuses in necromancy (there is indeed a big difference), but he can usually turn people’s thoughts around with his outgoing personality.

Adjusting his monocle (for what self-respecting wizard does not wear one), Reginald tipped his hat to the bar keep. “Good morning to you sir. I did not get to say much last night, being quite fatigued at the time. Perhaps I can more formerly introduce myself. I am Reginald Lockmeister, former entrepreneur and currently looking for employment. Perhaps you or someone you know is in need of a wizard? I presumed that finding work would be easier with magic users either being too expensive or too scarce, but it seem I’m in a bit of a sticky wicket as it t’wer.”

interest in the game. Having a nice "cliche" game sounds good... I would like to either play as a wizard or a cleric, but I am open to playing anything that will help balance out the party.

Achuak’s red eyes widened when he saw the results of the mites’ work: three of this brothers executed by torture, and proud Mikmak on the verge of the same fate. Hatred redoubled in his soul. He was not just going to leave with the statue and his brother: he was going to have all the mites heads as well.

But now was not the time for such things. He needed to confirm Mikmak’s condition, and get any other information that could be critical to this mission. Quickly he ran to the kobold’s side, putting his claw on the injured one’s shoulder for reassurance.

“Mikmak, it is I, Achuak. You are in good hands, the warm bloods here have come to aid our clan in the plight against Tartuk. We have come for the statue that we might be liberated from the purple one’s rule! Do you know where it is? And are there any more of our brethren in here? Any information you can give us could alter the results of this mission, and the clan’s future!”

Subject: Post 33 - Holding back and continuing forward

The thought of attacking the horrendous creature while she was caught unawares was exceptionally prominant in Achuak's mind. however, he knew that he could not take on so many opponents at once, and even the mite would be a challenge due to her hardiness against his steel tipped bolts. If only Achuak had the prescious metal that was the bane against all fey - then he would have been able to shoot one right through her like a hot knife through butter.

Achuak shook his head. It was pointless to wish for things that were not. He would learn form this - pressuming he lived through this raid. He would find bolts that will ignore their unnatural immunity, and then keep them at his side at all times.

For now, he would simply move on. Taking care not to alert either the mite or her pets, Achuak pressed on, looking for another route to take.

-Knowledge nature: do vermin (or centipedes) have certain perception that would make stealth impossible? If so, Achuak will get back to the group and report what he found.

Achuak gave a sigh.

"I apologize Junn. I so easily forget that your kind does not share my ability to see into the darkness of the underground. Considering I desire to be cloaked in shadows, perhaps I should merely scout the other way to either confirm more hostiles, or perhaps even an easier way to get to where that last cur was going. I shall be back soon, and I shall not converge on the enemy by myself - these creatures are not as easily affected by steel as I am."

With that, Achuak left for the other route, being a bit ambitious with his speed until he got to the entrance whence they came. From that point on he would be as quiet as he could. He also hoped that Junn was willing to oblige his plan: The elf didn't seem too fond of being bossed around, which Achuak hoped he did not come off as doing. Nonetheless, if the elf came, Achuak was sure it was for security, and to an extent, he hoped he would follow at a distance...

After he finished reloading his crossbow, Achuak headed to Jun and whispered to him his thoughts.

"I will go back and see if there is anything in the other corridor that we did not go through. If I find anything, I will not confront it. That is, unless you wish to come with me. We should not tarry too far from the rest though, but of all of us, you and I are the ideal ones for sneaking and scouting. With so many people in one area, it would be difficult for me to use my weapon of choice, so splitting up would make me more productive to the group."

"I don't care what direction we go, but, I would like Achuak to see if he can scout ahead of us a bit whatever direction it is, and keep us informed of what we are facing if anything right away."

Achuak nodded. “Indeed our minds are thinking alike. I too believe that I should go on ahead and use the veil shadows to our advantage. I will also scour the area for any hazards that might warrant as traps: these pathetic creatures are stupid and unimaginative, so anything that might resemble a trap would have to be of natural forming. None the less, I shall take the necessary precautions to keep the group safe and secure.

Achuak then chose one of the two paths and started to creep about it, moving as silently as possible with his crossbow drawn.

Unless someone really really wants it. With ranged attackers, Achuak is going to need to shoot first otherwise everyone will get into combat, give soft cover for his shot, or both. Considering you have to pretty much be right up close to find traps (or at least that's how I understand it) it would also benefit the group if Achuak found them traps before people exploded, plummet, get hung, or drown.

Just a thought though...

"It is good to here that you are willing to aid us in this mission." Achuak said, bowing at her response. "Indeed, I was worried that I may have to delve into that hellhole by myself, for I do not expect any of you to follow. It was not apart of the initial deal we had made, so I did not wish to ask any of you do this task. But now that Sylvia has offered her hand in this quest, may I boldly ask for the rest of yours as well?"

Another humble bow was given. "It is to my understanding that the charter which you came with was to rid the land of as many threats as possible so that your kind might settle here. If that be the case, then these mites will certainly be a good start towards the monster slaying. Furthermore, in riding us of our hated foe, I am sure that Sootscale will be far more willing to follow you, and not see you as a new enemy hostile."

The green kobold then pointed a claw to the north. "If we head in that direction, we should soon be able to see their nest: a grand tree that has since withered away. My clan has a tale that tells of a necromancer that took various forms of decay and lay it at the foot of that tree when it was fully prospering. From that pile of death were created the first mites which were designed for the sole purpose of destroying first the tree, then the rest of the land. It will be very hard to miss."

[Grigs]
For the most part, Achuak was silent through the encounter. He didn’t trust them – they were fey, and fey were something of a menace to him. It seemed that Sylvia at least wanted to scrounge up some sort of good relations with them, so the kobold kept his beak closed.

“I will stay on guard, make sure that no other fey-creatures are roaming nearby. Those demandable mites may be nearby still.” He left the party to scout out the surrounding area – and he did so as silently as possible.”

[Kobolds]
“Brothers! It warms my heart to see you all alive! May I quickly introduce you to these great warriors of the surface. I have seen them in action, and know that they may be trusted among our kind!”

Achuak proceeds to introduce all those he knows from the kobold band with the PCs. After which, he goes on to talk about Mikmek.

“I am sorry, but I have not seen Mikmek in my travels as of late. Indeed I have not seen many of my kind. But worry not, for we have come to save the tribe of Sootscale from that disgraceful Tartuk! That is, if Sootscale will speak to me. Please, you must have Sootscale come to me so that we might discuss the situation as a whole. If not, I fear the whole tribe will be either killed off or enslaved by this mad one.”

(The following can be intertwined with Sylvia’s speeches, though I am presuming the kobolds will listen to Achuak more than a stranger.)

"I think you are confused Sylvia. I am not the tribal leader, nor do I have much say in what the leader should decide. Furthermore, the future of my tribe is something that is none of your concern - for the time.

At best, Chief Sootscale will allow us to aid him in getting rid of this Tartuk Menace and then talk to you later about peace treaties. At worst he turns us in to Tartuk because of the hold that evil one has over the tribe. In which case do not harm Sootscale if at all possible.

I will try to tell him that if he keeps up with Tartuk's religion, the tribe will be gone either by the curse or by the sacrifices. So we should at least fight with dignity and end the miserable wretch's life. Outside of this, we should not speak to Sootscale until after the battle. You will win him over to your side more by actions than by words anyways."

(BTW, this is all in common - I don't see why you guys are all trying to speak in draconinc. the only reason why you should use that is to fix broken sentences or fill in words. Achuak is not one to leave half the group out of the conversation.)

“The strange one… he is a kobold that I have not seen personally, but was rather informed of him by my chief. Since we shall fight him, I suppose I should let you know of my tribe’s plight. He goes by the name Tartuk, and he is a kobold who’s scales glimmer in the colour of purple – something that has never before been seen by our kind.

He came to the tribe about a year ago and managed to take control from the chief – Sootscale. He brought with him a deity called ‘Old Sharptooth’, proclaiming it as an ancient kobold god. At first my did not believe, but soon some of the louder cynics started to turn gold in hue, and die. This quickly made my people listen to him. Now Tartuk demands sacrifices – both by our own kind that of others. If we do not stop his curse, my tribe will vanish from existence.

I alone have been unaccounted for, since I stay above ground surveying the surrounding territory. By the time I snuck in, Sootscale told me to leave and save myself. I have since been looking for people who are not with those bandits, or the trappers. That is why I came to you.”

“Let us make haste with this carcass!” Achuak called out, grabbing his knife from his boot. “I shall prepare us a feast – we might as well set up camp for the night. I would prefer to keep going, but we should conserve our strength. We have a few days left to travel before we come to my tribe, and then we must deal with the strange one…”

Achuak started to carve up the carcass, hoping that he would be able to prepare enough of it properly for the whole party.

As soon as Achuak saw the boars, he instantly thought of food. He had mostly hunted small game such as rabbit because he needed to only feed himself. However, because he was in a group of large people, large game would be required (large game for Achuak, not us). Whipping out his crossbow, Achuak slowly started to crank it up with a bolt.

"Unless they flee, we shall eat well tonight my friends." Achuak called out. "Let us go for one of the smaller ones - it will be easier to kill and the others will be left to reproduce."

Overhearing the priest of the foreign god, Achuak rubbed his chin. He had not seen such a place before, but that was only to mean that it was not in his territory.
“I am sorry to interrupt, but I would like to say that your temple, if it exists, is probably not in the south eastern edge of the forest. I do not go too far into the forest – only enough to harass the thieves, but I am certain that it will either be across the south river, or further to the west.”

“Master Oleg, may I use something to mark our map?”

After getting the map from the group, and some sort of writing utensil from Oleg (even if it is some burnt remains), Achuak marked the general area where his tribe resided.

“It is to the south of that large tree which is already marked. I suggest we avoid that tree though – it is infested with a cursed race of creatures. Creatures that we loath so much that my people and I use their name only in curses. Seeing as how the charter wants you to all remove harmful creatures from this land before settling, I would recommend attacking them sooner or later, but for now we should go straight for my home.”

When his own little meeting had been finished, Achuak decided to roam the post by himself. It was in this exploration that he found the poster board with various jobs set out, and rewards for their completion. His eyes narrowed as they read the one about his people. Tearing it off, he ran up to Oleg, thrusting the parchment up so that the human could identify what it was that Achuak was angry with.

“What is this!? Your people come into our lands, they set lethal traps which maim or kill us, and call entire territories as their own for the sole purpose to hunt for furs and pelts. Then when my people disarm your traps, and defend our own claimed areas, you decide to put a bounty on ‘dealing’ with us one way or another? For all I know, it was only I who have been a bane among the humans, and that was just petty theft of food stuffs and the occasional drink or tool. How can your people call to kill my kin for ‘being a problem!?”

After taking a deep breath, Achuak calmed down and continued.

“I will not hold it on you alone for this bounty, nor will it really affect my affiliations with you or the rest of my new found friends – if anything we are already working to fix this ‘problem’. However, it does concern me that your people would see us merely as a pest or threat, and not as a people with our own culture, dreams, and abilities. I hope that in the future referencing to us kobold folk will come with a bit more… affection?”

A new human had come into the fort, and he seemed to be of sturdy stuff. Achuak walked over to the new comer and gave a curt bow.

“I am Achuak Zhinar, a resident of this area and a walker of the green. I am the newest member of this clan, but none-the-less I wish to welcome you among us. We are in need of strong people, as one before me turned against the group… a traitor is the word? He has joined the bandits, and has become an officer of the Stag Lord."

"I should also tell you that the stress is high at the moment, so please forgive any outbursts from the others.”
