Sylvia used lethal force before this. My understanding is that Happs is at a fairly low number in the negatives (I am thinking -8 was the number given, though I may be wrong on that). Just responding to Sylvia's resolution that she will now start fighting to kill.

Sorry, but Lloyd's assessment of the party made him conclude that he would do better with the bandits...

In OOC thinking, I was all for an evil character, but once I found out a Paladin was in the mix, I did not really like the idea of the mixture: the Paladin's code makes it clear within the Core Rulebook that Paladins should only work with evil characters only as much as they need to. So This is sort of the best way to keep the party together without an amazing amount of headbutting and dark feelings.

Anyways, as Sib stated, I got a character in the works that will be better for the party as far as character is concerned. But some traveling will have to be done first; your going to have to find him... and by find him, I mean he will find you; as it is almost impossible to find him if he does not want to be found.

But we just kind of did this all in an evening... not anyone else's fault but our own. I am kind of scared where Lloyd is taking it all though... sorry, but I am playing him as I see him acting... I also just got a book that delves into the alignment of my character a bit more... so I am better able to play him.

If Lloyd ends up being dismissed from the group, I will make a more friendly character... I just want to try my hand at Lloyd's kind

Lloyd turned to face the rest of the party. "Think on my words gentlemen and woman. I may be blunt, but my rational is undeniable. She is a threat to everyone's safety, including her own. now if you don't mind, I'm going to examine our guests."

Lloyd went and donned on his mask and coat, they were not necessary at this point, as the prisoners showed no symptoms of any kind of disease, but he always felt at ease with his plague outfit on. He stalked over to the storage hut after grabbing his medical gear, a smile spreading across his hidden face as he did so.

"Bah! You think I am a child because I lash at others? At least I have a certain flow of logic to my anger! You on the other hand let your passions leave you as they come! As for the battle: I AM A DOCTOR! I don't fight, never have! I use my brain where you use your magic or a warrior would use a sword! And I was fully against the open confrontation between the bandits and this post, I am surprised you would have me go into harms way for a cause that is not mine!"

Lloyd does not falter an inch as he glares at the woman. "And I will make this clear now: I don't make friends! I make allies! Friends only get close enough to stab you in the back, where as allies are kept at a decent enough distance that you can analyze them, and are able to get mutual benefit out of them. So I reassure you; it is no loss to me whatsoever that you say we will not be 'friends'. The main reason for this is because there seems to be a vacant cavity where your brain should be. I can alter my attitude with some effort, but your stupidity has no remedy. I've even tried to find a cure for your kind in my medical field, but it has proven to be impossible!"

"Put him with the rest, he might pass out but he won't be in any serious trouble so don't worry. As soon as everyone else is ready we can begin the trials and have Oleg put them to work."

The babbling of the girl was more then enough to finally snap Lloyd's composure.

"You had better shut yourself up before I do it for you! And it wont be a temporary relief of your babbling either! You are not in charge, and I will make sure you never are! So stop giving all these orders and trying to run the show!"

The glare Lloyd made it known to all that it was no idle threat. It was a promise, and one that the young man would soon keep.

"Last night you made the whole situation confussing by altering the password - this done AFTER inviting yourself on my own little walkabout! Then you push for this whole stupid plan of fighting the thieves here where we have the most to loose: if it was not for Ortlieb's efforts, the whole fort would have burned down! Furthermore, you showed the most lethal force, and you focused it on the leader which we had decided to capture ALIVE! You not only cast aside the logical plan that both this orc of the wilds" Lloyd points to Ortlieb at this, "and I had presented, but you also fell away from your own stupid plan, letting your emotions and desire for vengeance cloud your mind! AND THEN you have the gal to demand solo time with the prisoners, promising gods know what for information; information that only you have deemed important - I can only imagine what you asked, considering how insightful you have been up to this point. And now you are trying to give orders to others! I will no longer remain silent on this issue! I do not expect to be the leader in this situation, but I would sooner go to the abyss and be at the mercy of a demon then follow under your command!"

Lloyd turns to Ortlieb. "You have shown the most competnace out of all of us. You know how to fend for yourself in the wilds, and have your wits about you at all times: this was proven when you quickly rationalized the danger of the stable fire. Furthermore..." Lloyd turns his head so he can see Sordin with this next statement, "You do not have an overwhelming sense of morality to inhibit you from making clear-cut decisions! I will work with this group ONLY if you take the responsibility of leading us. I am here to survive, and that will not happen if anyone else leads out..." Loyd bites his lip at this point, "including myself."

Subject: Medical Emergency - Post 9

Shit! Lloyd thought to himself as he saw a orb of energy blast into the hooded one’s chest. Things are getting too out of hand! The point of this plan was to keep the bandits alive for interrogation, not to kill them. And the leader of all of them was desired alive, as he would assumedly have the most valuable information! Lloyd had intended to dart out and attack whomever left themselves open, but now it was time to break out the medical equipment.

There was a problem with this: he left his medical equipment in the guest house! Lloyd had assumed people would take precautions to not kill the leader, but it was evident that such an assumption was foolish with this crowd. Leaving the shelter of the shadows, Lloyd dashed out of the warehouse without warning to the others. He would dash to retrieve his medical gear and then do his best to keep the hooded man alive. He would also try to attended to the other that had his head smashed in by the ape, but he was second on the list, and if others fell, he would probably get pushed down further on this list.

OOC: Lloyd will go and grab his medical kit and surgical kit from the guest house, and then head over to the Hooded Man. Lloyd still has his knife in hand just in case, but I doubt he will be using it for this encounter.

I am coming on RDInn about 2-3 times a day. I ain't posting cause I ain't seeing much for Lloyd to do until he either sees an opening in an opponents guard, or he catches on to the whole fire ordeal.

So if at any point you think Lloyd can sneak out and attack someone without them noticing, let me know Sib. Otherwise I am pressuming that people have 360 degree vision at all times and perfect hearing... even in combat. :3

Wondering if Lloyd can see the fire. If he can, he will let out some curses and then go try and put the fire out... either using his own shirt or grabbing some furs and seeing if he can smother the fire out that way. Just let me know what Lloyd sees, and if there is anything in the storage house that can be used... I am wondering if empty means empty xD. Also please let me know where the furs are on the map, so I can tell if Lloyd will want to run over and pick some up before dashing into the very inflammable stable.

need "<" and ">" in between "i" and "/i".

As for the character speech, I would say it all depends on what his background is. So you are going to have to figure it out. I just assumed there was a backstory to how he came to speak so well.

Subject: The praying mantis lies in wait - Post 8

Lloyd’s heart beat slowed as he took a deep breath in. He was used to doing this with his meditations he took before performing any alchemy experiments or creations. It settled his nerves and allowed him to think clearer. They were in, he could hear them. And the sound of the door thudding and the screaming of ”What in the nine hells?” was more than enough of a signal for the group to proceed with their plan.

Lloyd waited. He was not about to dash out and charge the enemy head on. His mask and doctor’s garb were not on at the moment, as he could risk damaging them in this conflict; this meant that his face and identity were exposed. And a thief had a sharp and long memory, and could hold a grudge indefinitely. If Lloyd’s team lost for whatever reason, and he was not dead himself, he would have to make himself scarce... something he did not really want to do at this point.

Lloyd creaked the door open slightly. Many of the others had already reacted to this signal. Lloyd kept to the shadows of the storage hut. He would wait for his time to strike, before slinking back off to the edges of the encounter.

In his right hand Lloyd held a razor sharp knife, he had been using his whetstone on it and its brother all morning; the other knife was hidden underneath Lloyd’s travelling jacket. But what was the greater weapon a vial with a clear liquid in it, hidden in his left pocket. Lloyd’s supply of this liquid was finite, and so he only planned to use it if he was in dire straits. None the less, he had it on hand in case he needed to use it right away. Gripping his cane hard in his left hand, Lloyd fought the urge to fidget with it which was his natural habit.

Another deep breath. Lloyd thought to himself as his cold face curved into a cruel grin. Let us see what you curs are made of... He was thinking of everyone at that moment.

OOC: Lloyd is simply opening the door so he can see what’s going on (within a limited area in front of the hut). I am supposing that he is going to need to make a stealth check.

Subject: Diplomacy at work

I am thinking that we should cut to the chase rather soon here on what the group will do tomorrow. We could be here for 10 pages with our characters arguing practical, moral, and/or logical points and counter-points.

Not to over rush it though: we can go at this until Sib is ready to make an official post, but once he is ready, we should have a clear result to give him, either as a group or as individuals.

Though their choice of alignment are in great opposition, I will simply say that Lloyd will take whatever side Sordin chooses. This is because the group is deciding while Lloyd is gone. So instead of having to redo the whole argument process, or make Lloyd a total dickle and give some sort of ultimatum (such as my way or I ain't helping), I am going to say that in the non-rping time between characters, Sordin (who has a very close logic to Lloyd's) is able to explain the reason the party is doing whatever they are doing.

Keep up the posts. They are very fun to read, but remember that we do have to actually start the fight with the bandits at some point.

I knew our dear druid had potential in such matters, but I did not wish to apply it to Lloyd's calculations. Lloyd would know that 'it' is a 'thing' of the woods, but would not know if 'it' had the capacity track.

Subject: Factoring - Post 7

Lloyd was out for hours, and the snow had not yet cleared. He should have expected as much that this trip would be useless, but he had hoped to be productive while he got his time away from the rest of the group. It mattered little though. He had his time to himself, and had unwound quite a bit. He was sure that he could deal a bit better with the characters in the fort now, even if half of them made him sick to the stomach.

He had also been able to meditate on the information provided at their little pow-wow as well. The first was that he indeed needed a place to stay and food to eat. And considering that Svetlana character had made a good spread, it did not sound too bad to be able to rely on that when he was not out exploring as per the charter agreement. So he had to fight these thieves, it was the only way to get the best out of this situation. However, self-sacrifice was not his style: he was not going to burst out and fight the miscreants only to have the rest of the band show up later and burn down the whole fort. No: other things had to be assessed.

The first was the thieves’ numbers: there were at least a dozen, but more could be out there, and of course some could have died to a variety of things such as disease or skirmishes amongst themselves... though that should not be relied upon. Assumption of such things is very dangerous when deciding on combat tactics. So this group of thieves could realistically be anywhere from twelve to twenty, meaning that the party would need to average out 2 kills per person... not including the monkey.

The second factor that Lloyd thought about was location. They were to the south and theorized to be a day’s travel away. But this was not reliable information. The thieves could have changed directions at any point in their travels to throw off anyone that might have answered Oleg’s plea for help... though that was unlikely. But the concept of distance really sounded like it was just a shot in the dark. This was more dangerous if the camp was indeed closer to the camp than further, as the rest of the bandits would not catch on that something is up and send reinforcements.

The third concept was the comparative arsenals. Lloyd was no fool, magic could be found anywhere, and it would be a real shit on his day if he found himself turned into a newt or turned into a walking corpse because no one thought it was likely. He was ignorant in how magic worked, not what it resulted. He would also have to inquire of the others (presuming here that our heroes are not just proclaiming to the world that they can cast magic missile 4 times a day) if any had this ability, as a battle plan would have to apply these talents in its composition.

Lloyd though about all this in the three hours he was gone. On his return back, a plan started to form. What if they did not fight the thieves when they came tomorrow, but instead followed them to their hide out? It is not like it would really matter if the goods leave Oleg’s fort: they would be returned shortly thereafter. Then once the base was found, and then the group could go in by night to assail its occupants. It would make it easier to kill the men if they were asleep, and a hit and run could always be used. So if a few die every three nights, it would still be an effective campaign. It would also allow Lloyd and the others to see if they call up reinforcements. If they do, then falling back for a bit and taking into account that there is more then what they first expected will be a further blessing. But if this is all that the thieves have, then it will only go to reassure the whole party. It was a sound plan, now if only the others will be willing to gamble fort’s goods for a safer, though more drawn out process.

Getting to the closed gates of the fort, Lloyd calls out after slamming his fist on the door.
“Shedded Skin!”

Also, don't forget everything else Lloyd had said/done in the previous post! I just made Lloyd do some stuff to sort of keep my attention going, don't think that you have go at the same pace as me...

“Shedded Skin it is then.” Lloyd repeated with a nod. He was about to turn and leave when the girl with the blue hair made a request. digh

”Could you wait for me please? I would like to inform Junn. Or, wait for me outside the gate at the very least." She added as she sat up more. "Svetlana, could I speak with you for just a moment, please?”

The masked man gave a harsh, impatient sigh. He turned once more to look at the girl who had made the request.

“I have no interest in bringing someone like you along! I am out to gather and work, I have no time to babysit children who want to play in the woods. Your babbling will only inhibit on my performance, and I will not have that! Furthermore, even if you were going to be useful, I have no intention of waiting while you go socialize with others! You would either come with me, or talk with others!”

Lloyd then turned back to the door and started to open it. In a few moments he was outside, his backpack over his shoulder and his cane in his hand.

Walking down the dirt road that had brought the part to Oleg’s, Lloyd started to think.
It would be a very bad situation if I happened to get lost in the forest – especially at night. I am sure that none of the others have the insight to think of me as a doctor, and not as a ‘mean’ or ‘rude’ person... so if I get lost I am sure most of them will be glad I do not return.

So in order to keep myself from losing my way, I will have to work within eye sight of the road. I will also have to keep track of how long I am walking, for every step forward means I will have to take an equal step back...
