Subject: The waiting game

Now all that Aaron could do is wait from where he was and see if Mr. Anderson had been killed or not. If he had, there would be a delayed silence. If he had missed, the cult leader would be angrier then a hornet and would lip him off again. If he had hit, but nothing vital, gurgling and moaning would take place.

Trying to be as silent as he could, Aaron tries to reload his sniper rifle. It seems that the target has an amazing resilience against bullets; otherwise there would have been one embedded in his skull at the beginning of this whole encounter.

so we are starting at bottom right corner of map I am taking it. Should we be making miscellaneous posts? Or are we going straight to an encounter? I do not really know much about the landscape from the map, out side that it seems foresty with mountains to the north.

Subject: The Half-Orc: Introduction

The cell which the mysterious silent half-orc was placed in was dry, and putridly hot during high moon, and extremely cold during the low cycle of the night. The abomination was alienated from the human prisoners, and he had no quarrels with such a scenario; he was not one who desired companionship. Or rather, he was one who had given up on finding such a thing long ago.

He sat cross-legged in the shadows, brooding alone in the darkness. His eyes were closed, the left permanently so: a large scar running from above his brown to his mid cheek vaguely explaining an encounter he had in years past. His protruding lower jaw barred tusk-like fangs that came from under his upper lip, his left fang’s tip went to about half way between his upper lip and nose while the right one was broken half way up. He had been told that he had small amounts of troll, giant, and ogre running in his veins. He had no idea if this was a truth and the fangs were the evidence of such heritage, or if it was simply a physical characteristic that just so happened to be with him. It mattered not, the humans and other ‘goodly’ races scoffed at his visage whenever he had encountered them, he was judged by his appearance and as such he was taught to survive alone.

Amidst the night the silence is disrupted. The half-orc opens his one good eye, he is able to see the humans even now due to his orc heritage. They did not hear anything, at least not at first. However, as the disturbance got louder, and thusly closer, the others started to rustle, wondering what the commotion was. Sighs of despair were blowing in the stagnant wind; they did not wish to be given to harsh masters. He did not care. He could easily escape once he had access to a few essentials. He was one with the desert, and no one would separate him from it for long. He would return to this city to complete his objective, and then he would return to paradise isle.

The branding on his left shoulder throbbed. It had been about a day since it had happened, but he still had sentimental pain, his pride had been damaged with such an abhorrent act. As soon as he could, he would remove it from his skin. Either acid or fire would work to remove the obvious sign of ownership. But that would come later. For now he would need to escape. Taking some of his ragged clothing, the half-orc slung it around his left shoulder and his right hip, making sure the brand would not be seen. If he were to be owned, the ones who had done it will need to force him to show the mark.

He looked at the woman cradling her new born infant. It was wrapped in the majority of his shirt, hence the rags that he now owned for attire. Of course, the new mother had no idea where the cloth came from, as it was always dark and no one had told her to take it. He knew that the child would need warmth, and his clothing was made for such a task. He did not feel any obligation to aid the feeble woman, indeed had she found out and refused, the half-orc would have rebuked her and cursed her infant to death. But he knew he could survive with less than he had, and her child would not. It was no bother, so he gave her what she would need.

The sounds got louder and louder. A squabble between guards? It mattered not. The half-orc closed his eye again. It was none of his business.

I would assume Bruno would either be rear guard or vanguard, but because he is on a pony, he would have to be a bit closer or it will take him longer to get back to the group if he is needed. If peeps think he would be better suited to staying near the wagon, I will have no complaints on it: all for one and one for all!

“I believe it would be better if we speak in private.” I state reluctantly. As much as Galan believes that the people will trust us in our taste in character, I believe that people as a whole are stupid, and should thusly be dealt with in a tender and cautious manner. However, Galen is right in seeing that Master Ryu would have a much better standing with these people then we do, and we were hired to assess the situation, so it would be logical that he would trust us.

(I would say this/along these lines whethere or not Ryu or anyone else thinks we should go inside or stay out).

“As it is, there is some political instability at Ixenedar. There is the remaining faction of kobolds that were a part of the cult before his assassination, and then there is what could be called the ‘resistance’: a group that desires peaceful symbioses with us surface dwellers. As it stands, the leader of this resistance who is called Irthos wishes to have a small group of people come to Ixenedar in order that the two communities may become better acquainted with each other. Irthos requested for twenty-four people in addition to ourselves, and that we come unarmed.” I finish my report, now it is up to Ryu as to what to do with it.

Bruno scoffed at the group. He had woken them up several times when it was necessary, as he himself only needed about two hours of sleep in a day due to the effects of a ring he had acquired over their adventures. Two others in the part also had this enchantment on them, so why were they so late? His exotic fox fur armour clung to him, the head cowl was pulled back to give the Halfling better vision during the hours of dawn, but he would soon slip that on when the light was prominent enough to see clearly.

“Stonecipher? I am Bruno Clearwater of the Hunter Moon Tribe. Though I was not with my companions when business was decided, rest assured that I will do my tribe proud by giving my body, mind and soul to your well being.” As Bruno walked up to the man, his pony clomping behind him, he made the half-hung-over human stretch his neck muscles as he looked down to keep eye contact with the Halfling. Bruno did give him a stern look, “However, do not speak words that will dishonour me. As far as I am concerned, such a commodity (honour) is worth more than a dragon’s horde of precious gems and metal, and far harder to attain. So long as you respect me as an equal, so too will I treat you as mine.” With that he mounted his pony, and threw a fist to rising sun: a gesture to proceed forward to adventure.

Norman looked at the young girl when he gave his response, “It was not hard, but the penalties could be dire for me if we get caught.” Norman then turned to Iris, worried about what this may have done to affect the start of their trip. “Perhaps we should make haste to get through this village. If we stay too long, I could get thrown in jail, for the charges Dan has just mentioned.”

All-in-all, Norman did not feel bad or guilty about having aided the female in her plight. He knew somehow that it was the right thing to do. He just hoped that he could avoid the judicial consequences for such an act based on a hunch.

Norman Typekin shrugs his shoulders when asked anything by the law enforcement of the town. Something told him that there was more to the girl and her abra then something worth incarceration... call it a hunch. Norman tended to work with these feelings, that’s why he came on this adventure in the first place.
“She and her pokemon started to ascend the trees over there.” Norman said, following along with the girl’s plea.

I know OOC that characters are not invincible... I just dont know how Bruno will act in every given situation...

By the way, I was thinking about the Crimson Chin on my way back from Calgary to my university, and I am wondering what Kind of alignment he is... I think he is Chaotic good. Though he is presently abiding by the martial laws of the city, if anyone provokes him (in particular I think his height, but there are other things that could piss him off) he blatantly disregards status and civil law... so maybe more towards neutral good? I dunnow and don't really know if its important, but maybe this can be illuminated before he meets the devil with a +5 Axiomatic Unholy great sword of death. xD

are there people chasing after her? I cannot really find anything inside me to respond when there is lack of detail. No NPCs,just a girl jumping into the bush. I could write on Norman's perspective of this incident, but that is only delaying the inevitable: we need something to interact with since Saja has jumped into the bush.

Subject: bed at noon... i think not

I was thinking that it might take some time for Bruno to find a pony of his taste. Shopping for an animal is serious stuff. You don't just waltz into some stable and say "Yar, I'z wantz yer best mount, and I'z wantz it now!" 100 gp to a skilled artisan is 100 days worth of money (PH 112), and over a years worth of raw earnings from a journeyman (PH 132). In short, this is the medieval day equivalent to buying a car. So I would presume that it would take a while to do. (By the way, I did not have a pony at the very beginning, so I am also presuming that a pony just does not appear out of no where and I have 100 less gp)... man I am presuming a lot aren't I? I guess that is because I usually have to play DM with my friends... sorry if I am being an extreme bother xD

The mention of gnolls stirs emotions in Clearwater’s body. Rage, excitement, anxiety; these and many others swirled in him like the components for an alchemist’s brew.
“I will let the lot of you handle the arrangements for this job. I have used my words for the day on strangers. I will be going back to our residence after gathering what little I need for this adventure. ” With that, the Halfling strode off.

After some time at the nearby stables, Bruno managed to find a mount suitable for his stature which had some training and experience in the ways of battle. The last thing he needed would be his mount running off at the first sign of danger. He had everything prepared so that he could be riding the creature at first light, for the guard had mentioned his father leaving in the early morning.

Bruno was now in his room, which he used only to sleep and hold his weapon and armour while he stayed in the city. Opening the cabinet, he took out his magical patchwork armour. The fox skin armour had been dyed a deep red from a spring flower in his tribe, and had been given to him at his coming of age ceremony. The hooded helm used a fox’s head, and when drawn up imposed a slightly intimidating demeanour over its wearer. To many, this armour was the greatest form of evidence on how barbaric Bruno’s tribe is. Having neither regard for nature or fashion; both people of natures and civilization found it appalling. But there was symbolism within this vestment that ran through Bruno’s very body. The fox was his totem: a kindred spirit that had come to him by night in his dreams. By wearing this armour, Bruno was giving his praise to the fox spirit.

The Crimson Chin gave the armour a stroke. “Soon, my old friend. Soon we shall see battle.” He delicately put his armour; his second skin, back into the cabinet. Bruno then jumped onto his bed, curled up, and went to sleep. It was going to be a long tomorrow.
