Subject: Achuak's cut

Achuak will like to take some of the loot taken and use it to buy an extra stock of bolts (20). He will need someone to carry them for him though - he is already at max load for light capacity.

Outside of that, his next order of businees is to deal with his clan. If anyone asks "what should we do next", that will be his response. So unless anyone has a super-overbearing grudge against Lloyd... -_-; ... I will be hoping that we can just go to the kobold encampment.

Please make some sort of vote, and if anyone is willing to volunteer carrying Achuak's bolts, that would be great too.

I know he's a kobold that has so far relied on stealth, but Achuak will have no qualms about getting in close-and-personal if everyone else needs him to. I'm pretty much going for the group-oriented ranger (at level 4) so Achuak is really trying to be a team player.

Anyhow - the Soradin and Achuak should be just fine... just make sure the paladin has some sort of melee weapon on hand XD

I am doubting you will be able to do that. Even if you did, what will keep us tied together after the adventure?

Also, I am thinking Achuak doomed his people in placing his hopes in this group of adventurers... I went from rude asshole to cooperative friend and it seems that no one is getting along either way.

You might need to keep Lloyd around just to have that one connection that keeps the party focused and together - the search for the disbanner!

Subject: Post 20... again

Achuak distanced himself from the warm bloods as they began to quarel over how to deal with the captives. He did not know the ways of these folk, but considering they were fighting with full intent to kill only minutes ago he figured that the course of action would have been a simple one - kill them.

However, with the magic user and the long eared archer fighting for who gets to interrogate the prisoners, there seemed to be a widening gap between the people.

"Friends." Achuak started. "Let us not fight amongst ourselves. One has already left your cause due to belief and conflict, let us not lose any more! I may not know where this Stag lord resides, but if we work together, we will be able to overcome the wilds and find his location."

"As for the prisoners; we have already obtained much information. Unless you have any particular answers you are looking for, I am against cause pain and harm to another creature - to act as such is to be lower then an animal: it would be to act as a monster."

"I do admit, apart of me says this so that we might quickly deal with this issue and return to my tribe, but I am already seeing that this group is falling apart - everyone wishes to do as he or she pleases. We must find common ground and work together!"

Subject: Post 19 ...again

Achuak turned to the flames now that the bandits were dealt with. At first, the kobold was worried that the flames could start a wild fire, but his anxiety was put to rest as he observed it a little more. It would die out in a few short minutes.

The fire was no longer an important matter, so he again focused on the bandits.
"What will you do with them now that they have been brought down? That Kressle one in particular will only cause trouble if we let her live. I don't care one way or the other, so long as it is done swiftly and in honorable manner - let their death be swift if they should die."

"As for the masked one you spoke of... I did not see him this night. Where he is I could not guess, but perhaps some of these people might know? In any case, I wish to emphasize that my own people are suffering greatly - We have not captured the masked one, but can we please make our way to my tribe within the next couple days? I will continue to aid you all without hesitancy and with ever strengthened spirits knowing that my own people are saved."

The speech was slightly broken, but Achuak figured that most of the message got through. The words and phrases he did not know, he just reverted to Draconic, knowing that the Sylvia would be able to comprehend most of the language gaps between him and the others.

Junn had muttered something to himself under his breath, but Achuak did not catch it. He was already on his way to the tent to execute the new plan. If anything else, it would make for an excellent signal for the others to attack as well. Achuak decided that he still need to be cautious: he would have to creep to that tent in the same manner as he had scouted. Hopefully he would not alert the guard.

-Stealth checks full round actions until he gets to the tent, then pull out the flint & steel from the backpack and start a fire.

Subject: Post 17 - Reporting in

The creaking was quiet and a bit distant, but it was enough for his keen senses to pick up amidst the overall silence of the forest night. It was coming from above: a sentry posted at the closest watch tower. And from the way that these sounds were made, Achuak came to the conclusion that it was actively trying to be silent. Now he was no expert on warm-bloods or their sentry postings, but he did know that among his own people it was hard to keep a guard attentive and silent at all times – generally it was a dull job where nothing was expected to go wrong. However, if a threat was known to be immanent, then the attitude and performance changed dramatically. They knew that his new allies were coming.

Now there were several ways to deal with this: Achuak could return to the ones named Junn and Aria. From there they could decide how to deal with this sentry before pressing on. There was a problem with this plan however: sniping from that distance would be difficult without a beacon of light – Achuak’s nightvision did not allow him to see that far away. From what he could tell, the elves had even less to go off of. Then there was the question of how many sentries were posted. If there was one, then no problem would arise if they silenced him with a bolt/arrow. But Achuak could not be certain that there was only one, and they would not find out until the alarm sounded.

He let out a silent sigh. They would not be able to do anything about it for now. However, he would not leave his new allies clueless. He would return to them, and explain where the one guard was. Once informed, he figured he would proceed further into the camp. Something was amiss – only one guard when they knew that a force was coming? Things were not adding up in Achuak’s mind. But then again, he did not exactly have the same mind process as a warm-blood’s…

-Move Silently (half speed) for two movement actions, then explain things to Junn and Aria.
-Unless they argue with his plan, he will proceed further into the camp with stealth and see if he can find anyone else within.

Things were not adding up. There was no one at the guard post and the cart was missing. And with one of their own companions switching sides and giving information, things were not looking good right now. The kobold was even beginning to wonder if anybody was at this camp now – though why would there be campfires then?

It was time to do some further reconnaissance. Sneaking to the tree beside the camp, he peers with his eyes and strains his ears to hear if there is anybody else in the vicinity.

-Stealth (half speed, no penalties) to D26 (Double movement)
-Perception check

Subject: Banditing the bandits - Post 15

Green Walker's beady red eyes widened and he moved his head back slightly as he took to the initial shock of his mother tongue being spoken.

"Indeed, this language is far better for me to talk in. I am not too familiar with your language: I have only picked words up from bandits and from what Sootscale has learned."

Green Walker nodded. "And I am to understand that you asked to steal weapons? I can defiantly do that if that is what you asked for. I have actually taken quite a few things from them in the past: little things, since most of your stuff is far too large for me to use. But the twine I use for my traps, food, water, and the occasional coin has all been taken from them at one point or another. Stealing their weapons could be riskier, since I more so just take their unattended belongings, but I will be able to determine what to do when the time comes. For now, I would say you should rest. One of you looks like he has tired himself out, and rest and food would do him well. I doubt that the bandits will want to do any more traveling then needed as one of them looked like he was lounging about at Death's door. But if you have some other reason for urgently running on, I will be glad to scout ahead."

It was still morning, but Green Walker felt the need to inform his potentially new companions about how his days have worked so far. "I will let you know right now that I am nearing the end of my day myself; I have been up since about midnight, I usually work with a half night, and half day schedule. I am not yet tired, but I should retire for sleep in a couple hours. If we plan to attack the bandits tonight, I recommend you all take the time to rest before dusk."

Green Walker bows. "Remember: I help you, you help me. You know what is happening to my tribe, and I expect you to aid them. If things go badly tonight, with either the plan going wrong or I fail to see the morning, I still expect you to fulfill your side of the bargain. I will let you translate all this to your tribe before I begin. I cannot risk my life if I cannot have each of your tribe's word that you shall aid my kin."

Subject: Analysis - Post 14

The first of the females had come up to him and crouched to his height. Achuak could not tell if this was supposed to be a form of mockery or humility, and it seemed like the later as she held out her hand. She asked what his full name was, and he was surprised that she even picked up on him shortening it.

“Achuak Zhinar.” He stated. “I be Achuack Zhinar of clan Sootscale.” Taking the open hand as a symbol of acceptance, Achuak transferred the rabbit to her. There was a single clean wound on the neck where Achuak snuck up and sliced it; but there was no blood. He had hung it upside down to drain most of it – he had observed that most humans did not eat meat raw, but prepared it so that it there was less bodily fluids in it. He had not had the time to figure out how to properly carve it up, since meat was meat to him, but he made sure that at least the bleeding was completed so that they could get right to the butchering process.

With his gift given, Achuak stepped back and looked at the five larger folk. “I give you meat as peace gift. I also offer help with bandits; masked one and two others travel through here in morning. I help you fight them as needed; they know not I be with you – I can go ahead and make sure traps are not at camp. Better we do at night: I see better in light of moon and stars then bright sun. Because warm bloods not as keen eyes at night, make even easier I take out any snapper-traps with being seen. If you no like, I will help other ways, but this is best way I help.”

Achuak then pulls out some twine from his backpack. “I can also tie this around bandits feet while sneaking up. They may trip to begin with because of it! Or if you give me time, I can make and set up my traps in their camp! But that take time, which it sounds like you not have. But I am trap maker, placer, and breaker. And I know woods well – where dangers are, and where good things are too. I can also hunt food, and make sure your camp has warnings with string and sticks! I can be very helpful, even though I am weak.”

Achuak breaths deeply. “But remember: I help you, you help me. Kobold clan has new purple kobold leader. He be dangerous – make kobolds kill others and each other. He brings a new god, and though kobolds hate it, any who go against it die from a curse! I am part of Kobold clan under Sootscale, but I be up above as scout and guard. When I go down some moons ago, I find Kobold clan need sacrifice to unknown god. Purple Kobold had come to tribe, named Tartak, demanding sacrifices. Purple kobold never heard or seen before, so chief Sootscale pressed by rest of tribe to take him and listen to him. Now tribe dying from curse if they do not do as Tartak says! Sootscale cannot attack himself, for fear of curse on himself and whole tribe. Sootscale did not even ask me to help, I decide myself – Sootscale may attack us too. But I need to save tribe, I may not live with them in body, but my heart and soul belong to them entirely. Will you help?”

Achuak means Green in Draconic
Petisse means Kobold in Draconic

And he would have introduced himself by his full name: Achuak Zhinar, which means Green Walker. So I am doubting Sylvia would ask what he is - as he said it in a language that she knows.

Anyways, its getting exciting, and hope the new character will be better for the group. Sorry again about Lloyd... but you git to admit, it does make things a lot more interesting does it not?

Subject: Transition - Post 13

Dawn had already passed, and as the sun’s morning rays shone through the forest canopy, creatures started to awaken from the night’s slumbers. Others retreated back to their lairs after a night in their nocturnal activity. But there was one who was in neither of these categories: he scampered about the forest floor, this being the mid-point in his day. He was currently chading after a small rabbit, which he had spotted some ten minutes earlier. He was not too hungry, so he had given his prey a fighting chance, allowing it to flee from him. It allowed him to work on his skills in fighting, survival, and agility; all three of which needed to be top notch at all times.

Suddenly, he stopped. He heard voices, and from what little common he had picked up over the years, they were cursing. He decided to let the rabbit go, and instead decided to sneak up and investigate into the voices. Most likely, they would be bandits – their common attire would indicate as much – and if they were, he would leave them be. However, if they were unique looking warm-bloods, he would need to survey them further.

Creeping through the undergrowth and dead foliage of the last season, he came to a ditch where he looked up on the people. They road on the tremendous quadruped beasts they called “horses,” and two of them were most defiantly bandits. However, it was the one that lead them that piqued his interest. The creature was clothed in a long black coat, and had black leather gloves and a wide brimmed hat. His face was covered by a mask that resembled that of a scavenger bird: like a magpie of a raven. He was rather quiet, but when he did speak, it was to silence the other two. The silent observer decided to follow them for a time, and as he picked up words, and assessed their condition, he came to the conclusion that they had been attacked, imprisoned, and then escaped. The masked one had aided in their plight, and was now off with them to join the ranks of the bandits.

But he was overjoyed. To the hells with the three and their plans! It was the last bit of info he got that made him happy! They had spoken of others coming after them; that they would end their lives! If these people came to kill bandits, then perhaps he had found what he was looking for! Further observation would have to be done, but this was perhaps the one time he had at getting allies!

Letting the three go on, he followed where they had come from, and figured that their pursuers would follow their tracks. He now knew where they would enter the forest. So he decided to wait. He would hide off in the brown and green foliage, out of sight. If he could determine that these new comers would be champions of justice and good, then perhaps just maybe he had the chance to save his people. He only prayed to the gods that there were indeed good warm-bloods...

Topic: Breaking the Fourth ~ A D&D Webcomic
Subject: It's the way to be

If you ever feel inclined, d20pfsrd.com has pretty much all the rules for Paizo Publishing's Pathfinder. Its sometimes referred to as 3.75 because it simplifies some rules while buffing up PC classes so that they all have a druid/ranger/monk/paladin feel. The downside is that Prestige Classes become pretty obsolete.

The thing that I personally like more about Pathfinder is that it really focuses on making the campaign world (Golarion) a thriving and interesting place - i did not get that so much with D&D products.

Anyways, its just something to look at for fun, as 3.5 is also really awesome!

I will keep an eye out on the comic from now on.
