Hate to say I told you do, but some of us did try to warn others not to wield items that hadn't been identified.

In this case, though, I think the shield saved Artanis (and Loriel). Given that they were facing a group of orcs and they were already wounded, they would have been in real trouble if it had been an ordinary combat.

However Loriel was not wounded maybe only a point or two if anything. She was sneaking around, not looking for confrontation. However that is niether here or there now. One of us is in dire straigts and Loriel will do what she can to the best of her ability. I would have joined up with Artanis since I was headed back that way but Artanis being who she is brve the lions in their den. and got bit the the unknown tiger--the shield.

is the NOva shield a known item or is it your creation I it strange that it bites the wielder as well usually it only does everyone but--just curious.

The Nova shield (And spell from which it is derived), as well as the Penance Spear, are creations of my own Design. Once identified, the shield (or spear) may become more user friendly in a sense. But as was pointed out, using unidentified magic items is a dangerous affair.

At this point there's nothing for me to do... It's all on you guys for now... (If Anyone (linnix most likely, is roused and goes to get Aelistae I'll post something, but aside from that, it's all in your hands for the time being. Tick tock tick tock, who knows what else heard that Thunderclap )

I do want to say to all you players, that I am sorry for rushing in like this. I've always tried to be the careful one in my RPing, and this is exactly why. That'll teach me to run off half cocked, and without knowing what I'm getting myself into...not to mention, magic items? bad bad bad...I think IF Artanis survives this catastrophe, she will be hard pressed to even touch an item that could have even a slight possibility of being magical, not until she knows what it does.

And just an FYI, my goal was to kill off any creatures we came across, or passed by, because that way there wouldn't be any enemies left at our back. It was a good idea....but ..
