I'm still around as well. I'm a bit fuzzy on the character I made up for this game though, since I hadn't had a chance to play as him before you broke your..... how do you break your olecranon off?

Had to have fallen in some really special way, or maybe hit by a car or something, to get that to happen. Now I'm curious. What did happened? Inquiring minds want to know. Is the rehab mostly for your tricep and extensors, or did having that pivot point pop off screw with the flexors also? I'm a massage therapy student, which is why I'm so curious about this....

....so as I was saying, could you send me a copy of the character sheet again so I can re-familiarize myself with this guy?

"I can make that trip even shorter. If I call Prajna," Chiron offered, "We can ride back to the stables to get Diligence and the whole thing shouldn't take more than fifteen or twenty minutes."

This expedition had suffered many delays already in trying to return to the house, and he was bothered by the idea of leaving the others with nothing more to do than twiddle their thumbs. "Perhaps, before we run back to town, we could open the door and check that the first room is still clear. Then, while Tenacity and I retrieve Diligence, the rest of you can again remove the door from its hinges. That way it won't be able to slam shut and separate us when we're ready to venture inside. Is that an acceptable plan?"

"You know, I don't think that rope is going to be long enough..."

Chiron had spent the majority of the last hour staring at the repaired front door, praying to The One Who Endures. He wasn't asking for anything specific, other than comfort. The paladin knew that great evil lurked behind that door and he wanted, needed, to feel the presence of his god as closely as possible before venturing onward.

Seluumiel finished her divining but the house followed its elusive nature and offered nothing useful, so Tenacity was producing a rope from her pack to try a more invasive means of discovery. After tying her rope around the nearest tree Tenacity walked a few feet toward the house.

"...It might get you to the door, but I doubt you'll be able to explore much inside without untying. Here," Chiron slung his pack down and pulled it open as he spoke, "You can add my rope to the end there and you'll have more than enough."

Is the front door still removed from its hinges?

Also, how close is the nearest tree to the front door? (the opening, not the physical door)

"The first time we were here," Chiron said, his voice low, "The house actively worked against our ability to keep our bearings. It filled the clearing with an unearthly fog, and, though I cannot prove it, I believe there were some teleportation magics at work keeping us from surrounding the building.

"And from what reports we've had, the house seems only to luring the weak-willed, or mindless, to serve as guardians. Ogres. Undead. I think we could, as long as we are cautious, walk right up to the door again."

As he spoke, Chiron loosed his shield from its place on his backpack and began strapping it to his arm.

"We could spread out, Tenacity, if you feel that is prudent. I wouldn't recommend more than twenty or thirty feet between us though. I don't trust this house."

"I think appearing directly at the house is a bad idea." Chiron replied, "Although, if you could teleport us to somewhere in the woods very near the house... that could save a good deal of travel time and allow us to check the area for changes since our last visit."

Panic gripped the warlock as he watched the rats virtually ignore his blast and continue to swarm toward, and then over, him and his friends. He couldn't think of anything other than getting them off, getting away.

So, scrambling back toward the nearest corner, Talus let loose another brimstone blast at the nearest cluster of rats and hoped this time, maybe, the fire might catch.

Xavier begins to untie his coin purse, having offered to loan Chiron the few coins for his last purchase. The paladin reaches out and covers the pouch with his hand, shaking his head slightly.

"Thank you for the offer, but the last wand is a bit frivolous. I can channel Ilmater's divine healing very well on my own, and I've already spent my monthly salary, so it might be best if I didn't spend all of my remaining money right away."

Purchased wands of lesser restoration and protection from evil. Caster level 1 for each, so they should be 750 a piece... 1500 together.

Caught up the rush to get under way, Chiron never received an answer about Lacey's share of gold. So once he was released into the market place he purchased only two of the three wands he'd been considering.

The two wands together cost came to the exact amount Castor had just given him. Walking briskly, the paladin returned to Tannif after his short shopping trip.

Sorry for the long delay. I've been cast in a play that opens on the 31st and things have been really hectic lately. One more week and I'll be through rehearsals.

I finally figured out what Chiron would have on his shopping list and the total comes to 2250. With the 1500 we just got from Castor, Chiron's got 2230 burning a hole in my pocket.

That's why the question about Lacey's share. And for those who are curious: wand:cure light wounds, wand:lesser restoration, and wand:protection from evil are his planned purchases.

After making some estimates on the total price of the supplies Chiron wanted, he addressed Bailash, "Governor, what is to be done with Lacey's share after her unexpected departure? Is it simply forfeit, or will it be divided among those of us who remain?"

"We don't even know if the house is actually leaving that location or simply turning invisible. Something I'd like to try once we get out there is to tie a rope to one of the inner doors and stand outside, with the other end, while the house fades away. If the house doesn't try to pull the whole rope with it, and whatever phasing is happening doesn't sever the rope, I don't see why we can't continue to explore the house ever while it's fading in and out-- maybe stake the rope to the ground outside just in case-- but it shouldn't be dangerous if nothing happens to the rope."

Chiron stood again from the table, "I think we should spend a limited amount of time buying any last items we need from town and then all meet at the town's outer gates in... say one half hour? We'll set out from there and go discover what secrets that house still hides."

"Will that be enough time for everyone to acquire whatever supplies they feel are needed?"

Are Ava and Deathwysh related? All her posts have just... vanished.

Makes it a little more awkward to read through the game from the beginning and my internet browser says there are three more pages to this Q&A thread than we have posts for now.

Oh well.

Tiamat, if you're still up for running the game, I'm still on for being in it.

"As we plan this return to the house, Tenacity, what would you say your strengths are? How could we best include you in our plans?" As he spoke, Chiron finally turned away from the open doorway and sat again at the table.

"I believe that the Governor and Seluumiel are correct, we need to learn as much as we can about this house before we venture inside again. The our first time in there was very nearly our last time. Planning will be key"

You... um... but... there's... what?

Okay, so I'm playing a paladin this time around and Chiron wouldn't speak up about this... but I wanted to make sure you know what Seluumiel just passed up by declining the wand.

5750gp.

I don't know, maybe Seluumiel is the kind that wouldn't care about the monetary value, but as a player I cringed when I saw her wave away the wand and wanted make sure you knew how much that thing was worth.

It's the 100gp material component that makes it so spendy. The price of the wand has to include the material component for each charge, so even something as relatively cheap as the pearl for identify really raises the price when you've got 50 of them.

Anyway... that was all.

Subject: *poke* Is it still alive?

Is life still being crazy and delaying things, or has the game finally, sadly, breathed its last?

I ask because Vilyamar is starting a game for 6th level characters and I don't want to be done with Talus yet. If there's still a chance that this game will get a true resurrection, I really don't mind waiting for things to smooth out-- this game was fun; I like the collection of characters and players. But if looks like it won't be possible to gather enough diamond dust, I'd like to move Talus over and find out what happens to him.

Just checking in. The other game doesn't start for a couple weeks, so there isn't an immediate rush for a response.

"We should go perform a more thorough search of the house-- make sure that nothing else is going to spew forth from those rooms." Chiron replies to Xavier's question still looking to the doorway Ardulace had passed through.
