Subject: Trying to post

En'Aranthea knows they should properly lay the bodies to rest, but the pirates must be also be dealt with. Part of her knew that she was being cowardly about facing the bodies again, but she had only just begun to understand life...death was uncomfortable to contemplate. It wasn't battle courage she lacked, it was the emotional strength to face mortality unflinchingly.

"We need to understand what we face ahead before we commit ourselves to an attack," the bladesinger responded to her cousin. "We lack a scout, so I will offer myself to that task. I know Varuna would not be comfortable leaving the woman and children as they are, so perhaps you can do this while I learn what I can of the pirates' numbers and fortifications."

The baby demands much of my time during the day, so the energy to come up with a post just isn"t there by the time the evening comes.

I'll take my Q&A post and copy to the game post so that my fellow players can write their own posts in response.

Subject: Dapple back online, so to speak

Though it felt like an eternity, Dapple’s muscles finally unclenched, leaving a painful pins and needles feeling that crawled through her skin. With the return of control, came the return of lucidity, and she willed herself back into a measure of calm….I am nothing, I feel nothing, I am nothing, why do I smell burnt flesh?

That’s singed half breed monster, rasped the dead voice in her mind. Get up, get up, you need to move! I haven’t kept you alive this long to have you die now! Find your potion quickly before that dratted cleric remembers you!

Dapple hauled herself to her feet and fumbled out her potion of healing more to quiet the noise in her head than out of any desire to live. Even with a swallow of the potion, her limbs felt heavy yet treacherously elastic, like bread dough that had been kneaded too long. She had no idea how her body would respond in a fight.

Kilgim was tending to Maximus and Dapple remembered the Green. She smiled an ugly shark’s grin to see his twisted, burnt corpse, but then frowned when she realized the others were still tensed as if in combat. Dapple realized she could no longer see Arien, and there was a pile of rubble where he’d last been standing.

“What did I miss?” she rasped, her tongue thick in a dry mouth.

OOC: Assuming that Dapple is unaware of the mages, as they appeared and disappeared while she was stunned.

T'was Scorpion King that I was thinking of...other than a half naked Rock, there wasn't much to commend the movie

The actual third movie has taken so long to happen, I've already written it off...especially once I heard that Rachel Wiesz wasn't returning. Her librarian turned adventurer was endearing.

My #1 is true...I was part of a youth choir that sang at an outdoor Mass led by the Pope at Downsview Airfield in the early 80's. Yes, I was singing with 1,000 other voices, but I was there

I think Brianna's #1 is the lie...not doubting the possibility that you could score that well, but I am pretty sure you do own horses and you play a mage now

And for Tann, #2 is the lie...you said you'd never done anything illegal.

Here are my statements:

1. I sang for Pope John Paul II when he visited Toronto in the early 80's.
2. I had no idea that my first date with Alacrity WAS a date...I thought our other friends had bailed on plans for going out as a group.
3. I have a BA in English from U of T, which is why I use such big words and am such a stickler for spelling and grammatical errors.

Topic: So who was your first?
Subject: The non hero hero

My first character was Vanadia Darkshadow, a human thief of questionable parentage and murky beginnings. She was a cocky smart aleck with a dislike for nobles, rules and had her own views on personal property. Her favourite "trick" was to move through a crowd to a table in a tavern/inn, pickpocketing enough coin on the way to pay for her meal.

She adventured with an elven cavalier named Gallirian (the Great, the Good, the Gaudy) and an elven fighter mage named Rune. The long running joke was that since the thief would end up with everyone's gold anyway, she may as well get it up front, and Vanadia became the negotiator for the group.

At that time in my life, I was an internal auditor, and had to work with a great deal of discretion, observance of company rules, accounting principles and rules of evidence (I investigated internal fraud), so it was very liberating to play the exact opposite type of person in D&D

Alacrity was our DM, and the Diamond Corps (as the three of us plus an NPC or two were eventually known as) was immortalized here at the Inn by Yanamari:

Charlie held her position as Lee objected to their current deployment and Kane surprisingly agreed. More surprises followed when the men inside the observatory challenged them to lay down their weapons and the looey decided to go in unarmed to talk them down. Blake may disregard the regs, but she still had them stored away in that cursed eidetic memory of hers.

The rest of the team felt the same way, and suggested either Inga or herself as alternatives, but the looey was adamant, and his reasoning had solid logic behind it. She ran the alternatives through her mind and didn’t like the outcomes. A female medic made an excellent hostage, and a tattooed and pierced “soldier” may just be the trigger point the already freaked men needed to lose all restraint.

“You going in has the highest probability of success, sir,” Charlie stated in the team frequency,” but it’s still only about 33% that it will work. Better tell’em that if you’re harmed, we will respond with deadly force. That increases your chances to 40%.”

Willow was thinking hard on what had just happened: an elderly Shepherd who could command the henchmen of a Tong, and command their respect. This was just too unusual to pass by, no matter how much in a hurry Sung was to be paid and jump atmo. Contacts were worth their weight in gold, and an empty transport ship earned nothing, as well.

Good manners intervened, and Willow could be rude as easily as she could be graceless. As she heard the captain introduce their would-be rescuer as their new mechanic, Willow set aside the business of the Shepherd to turn her megawatt smile on the man called Wolf.

“Greetings My Lady Willow, whatever you need of me I am at your service me lady”, Wolf said as he bowed over her hand to kiss it.

“Welcome to the crew, Mr. Fenris,” Willow responded warmly, her face alight with good humour,” What I will require most is that the Rocinante keep flying and you acquire as few holes in you as possible. If you manage that, my dear, we’ll get along fine.”

While not appearing to hurry, Willow turned to Sung,”Captain-san, a moment’s indulgence, please?”

Whether the captain agrees or not, Willow turns and heads over to the old man, presenting her hands to any Tong in such a way that they can see she has no weapons within the wide sleeves of her kimono. When she reaches the old man, she tucks her hands back into the sleeves, as is proper, and bows low before the blind man. While still bowed, she addresses the Shepherd.

“Revered grandfather, this one is Willow Takahara. Your wisdom and generosity of spirit towards those who would harm you is a lesson to us all. May this one call upon you later to hear more of your lessons?”

Once she has a response from the old man, Willow rises from her bow and glides back to her friends, taking Sung’s arm and nodding graciously to his wry “Can we go now?”

Ena knows they should properly lay the bodies to rest, but the pirates must be dealt with first. Since we don't have a ranger, Ena will suggest herself for scouting the pirate tower, being attired in the most "camo" like and quiet armour (brown leather armour). If the others wish to deal with the bodies while she scouts out the pirate's den, she'd be fine with that.

Sorry i can't work up a full post, but Will is having a fussy morning.

Submitted for your approval: take one remote research facility, one irresponsible scientist and boundless amounts of money and resources. The result is a weird blue field that has no physical effect in this time, but propels you into an ALTERNATE DIMENSION, one in which the Rangers have been disbanded for a decade or more. You’re free, Blake!

Charlie shook off the amusing and highly attractive idea, knowing darn well that if the Rangers didn’t have her, CIA or NSA or some other acronym would, anyway. She also kept her little theory to herself, though she had to admit, the robot didn’t belong to any reality she knew, either.

If Charlie is close to Hart, she’ll stay under cover as best she can and help him get a pressure bandage on the bullet wound. (“Hart, you poor bugger, gotta do something about that bullseye birthmark of yours, hon!”). Otherwise, she’ll look at the medic, one penciled eyebrow raised, then motion her head meaningfully towards Hart.

Once that’s taken care of, she’ll return her attention to the puzzle of the soldiers. “Sir!” she says into the radio, keeping her voice low. “PTS and the endless night here may have been very disorienting for these boys. Who knows how long they’ve been feeding into each other’s delusions. Start with the duty roster to build on the familiar and you can maybe reach through the madness, sir.”

No fool, despite her dark jester’s garb, she stays under cover, but moves her trigger finger to alongside the trigger. This way, she won’t fire accidentally or reflexively, but will still be fast if needed.

...but she may not express such oponions out loud...she's considered loony enough as it is

Post traumatic stress combined with the lack of sunlight could be very disorienting...who knows how long the two soldiers THINK they've been abandoned, feeding each others' delusions?

I'll see if somebody snoozes long enough for a game post.

...but cats fit into our lifestyle best. Our current owner is a brown tabby by the name of Rose. When we decided to not declaw her, we explaned to our then six year old daughter that she'd have to be careful of getting scratched.

Mighty Miss V then declared that the kitten should be called Rose, because "Roses have thorns, too". The cat gets called Rose, Rosey Rose, Rosebud, Rosebutt, Lumpy (sleeps under the bedcovers all day, making our bed lumpy)and whatever else comes to mind, but it's kinda silly. It's not like she comes when you call her name

Previous cat was named Winsome, which was also silly, because although beautifully marked (tabby patches on a white coat), she was the meanest, most spiteful thing you've ever met, being nice to only Alacrity and I and barely tolerating Mighty Miss V.

We had a hard time selling our house because we had to confine her to the basement when people came to view the house, and she spent the whole time banging her head against the door and growling. No-one asked to see the basement, though!

Stardust was indeed a good movie...had that Princess Bride vibe with the modern undercurrent to a fairy tale plot line. Definitely not for little, little kids, but our 11 year old enjoyed it immensely.

The Mummy was on TV last night and I'd forgotten how much fun it was... the second was pretty good but I was rather disappointed in the third.

Great idea, Fantasy, to put the movie titles in bold! I'm gonna go back and edit my previous posts.

Basically, you can simlpy be a crew member, drawing a regular salary, or you can use some of the starting funds Alacrity would have given you for equipment and such, and buy a share of the ship. That means you get a share of any profits after all operating expenses (including wages to salaried crew) are taken care of. Being salaried, on the other hand, means you get paid regular, and the same amount whether we're doing well or not. You don't get extra, however, if we ever manage to score something big, because if you do get paid when we're not doing well, it means the owners are doing without

I know Willow, Dash and Sung all own a piece of the Roc, not sure what Kora and Asher had decided.

Having my character completely helpless may have been an overstatement of Dapple's condition of "stunned and unable to parry" but there has been (unfortunately) alot on the Canadian news about the effects of Tasers, and it seemed a good analogy for what happened with the lightning bolt.

Plus, she's so darned ornery, complete physical incapacitation would pretty much be the only way she wouldn't be able to fight
