We haven't had a post from Catie since before Liliana dropped the dish and started crying, so you haven't given the DM anything to work with. The "target neutralized' post was based on people's stated actions and npcs.

You're lucky - Alacrity has been known to assume hilariously embarrassing actions when people go silent too long

Some people got angry when they fought, and others saw it as some sort of dance. To Ming, fighting Seth had been no more than an exercise of tactics: disarm the man, disarm the gun (seriously, who made a quick release catch for the battery pack?!), then send the gun out of reach. Let the man think he’d hurt you and thrown you off balance so he’d dive for the gun, presenting that finely muscled back for the crippling blow. Ming stiffened the fingers of her right hand and struck, twisting as she grabbed muscle to wrench it into cramping. The man dropped like a stone and Ming stepped aside, as neat as a cat, to avoid being entangled with the prone man.

“Angela no don’t kill him!” JC called out.

“Angela...wait” Tess called out. “Looks like Seth is just here to help and he lower his gun because there is no danger right now.”

Those words reached Angela through the blood rushing through her veins and the roaring in her ears. They may have been said earlier, but Angela had been busy then; now she could hear again, though it was hard to concentrate on the meaning. So much energy was surging through her she didn’t know what to do with it all: fight the next person nearest her, put her fist through a wall, jump out of the ship, run to the back of it and push! Her hair tingled and her limbs trembled with the effort of staying still, so she shook her hands lightly, as if shaking off water drops, trying to send the energy elsewhere.

Distantly, she heard Tess whistle and exclaim, “Wow ... that was slicker than dog snot!”

"I didn't kill him." Angela managed to say calmly enough, "He is just paralyzed for the next 4-5 hours. Less if you apply ice to that nerve." She looked at the battery pack in her hand and let it drop to the floor beside the fallen bodyguard. Realizing that maybe, just maybe, she’d overdone it, Angela held herself still and looked warily at each person in the room, ready to defend herself against the Simon boys or even JC.

That’s when Doc Stephanie walked in, and although she seemed calm enough at first, she bellowed for the Captain into the comm (Angela wasn’t certain she actually NEEDED the comm) before turning an icy eye on Angela.

"What exactly did you do to him?

Grace asked “Hey Angela, let’s get out of Stephanie’s way. Can you come over here and stand beside me?”

Angela opened her mouth to answer but the Captain walked in and Angela snapped to attention. Looking over the setting, Jon harrumphed at Seth on the floor and then stepped over to Angela, "What happened here, give me the facts."

“Sir, the one Simon brother attempted to engage Grace in conversation as the client was serving pancakes. She dropped the plate of pancakes and started crying. Loudly. When the bodyguard came in, breaching his word about not drawing his gun, I acted. I subdued the aggressor and neutralized the situation."

Jon looked back Seth and the battery pack on the floor then looked back to her, smiling briefly before saying "Good work".

Angela simply nodded, not quite trusting herself to speak, happiness at the praise flooding her. She blinked as sweat trickled into her eyes and realized that she wasn’t shaking anymore but drenched in sweat as if she’d run for miles. She wiped her face and lifted her hair off the back of her neck to cool down as the Captain issued orders.

“Rick, AJ would you be so kind as to help the good Doctor when she is finished here and carry this man to the sick bay?”

“Doctor”, he said with emphasis and respect, “please call JC when Seth regains consciousness.”

“Captain, Stephanie countered before Angela could explain,” He is conscious. He can hear everything we are saying right now but cannot move or speak. Angela effectively disarmed him, and incapacitated Seth in the most efficient manner.”

“18 seconds.” Grace interjected with a muffled giggle.

“Really?” Stephanie sounded shocked. She then turned to Angela, “I apologize if my initial reaction was unkind. You acted in a very controlled manner to protect the passenger and crew.”

“JC… when Seth is able to understand please remind him again of the dangers of carrying weapons onboard a freighter and that his cooperation to leaves these in safe place would be appreciated."

Grace leaned towards Angela and whispered “Don’t worry, you aren’t in trouble. Nice job by the way, very impressive.”

Angela nodded, patting Grace’s arm to show her appreciation, but something she’d heard before Seth had arrived came back to her. As Jon sat down at the table next to the mess and the still quaking Lillian, JC nearby, he says, “Now would be a good time to tell us everything.”

“Do I know Daniel?” Angela rather loudly whispered to Grace. As heads turned to look at her, she hitched her shoulders uncomfortably, hating how she forgot important things. “Well, she, “ indicating Lilliana with a lift of her chin,” wailed for him so I guess he’s important. Do I know him? They certainly do,“ she finished, looking squarely at the Simon brothers.

Willow's mind raced with all she had learned, bouncing from thought to thought as she tried to take it all in. The mercs knew where the violin was, so no need to spare the ship or shuttle... but who was the mole, and how did he know... The weapon that had disabled the ship had been used again to kill Matheson, so was clearly not a single shot anymore... Lord Chris Hood was remarkably helpful for a lord, how better to insert yourself into the planning of the crew, whereas Bridges clearly had more money for a man financially ruined a few short years ago....

Willow bit her lip, hard, to still her thoughts. She needed to deal with the immediate threat to the ship and her loved ones. She checked the frequency of the intercepted message, then sent out a broadcast message on that frequency " Stop your attack on the ship and withdraw immediately or the violin will be destroyed. "

Willow allowed herself the satisfaction of imagining the mole's face when getting message from a dead man. She then tucked away the PADD and moved as quickly as she could back to the communication console. If she could hide herself nearby and see if anyone approached it, she'd know who the mole was, and confirm that he knew the exact location of the case. Buddha only knew if she'd find the courage to attack the mole from behind, or if she'd be fast enough.

A selfish part of her, the once young girl who'd fallen for Cameron, hoped it was Lord Hood she was about to see.

Some of you who've gamed with me a while know I like to explore themes through the character. With Willow, it's the multtiple facets of love and honour, with Dapple the alienation of being different ( and monstrous)' etc.

Angela looks like she's shaping up to be an exploration of free will and character - can you have either if you were designed to be whatever your masters needed you to be? I

I'm looking forwars to figuring this out with all of you, and I must say I was surprised and proud of MMV's take on the use of Angela's command words.

DM will have to decide when Tess speaks versus Angela's progress in her current trajectory I have a few possible reactions in mind depending on when things go down. I'll let the DM know so he can include in his post.

As for everyone knowing and shouting out trigger words, I figure that if you didn't go back and find them in the Q&A, before you posted, then you may know them, but they didn't come to mind before you reacted. We are all human, after all I like how Tess handled it, for the record...could simply come across as one of her quirky expressions Tess is fond of throwing around.

As for having been around long enough to know...I guess that is something we haven't determined who knows what besides Grace. I would hope that you wouldn't use the command to knock her out lightly as it would reveal those words in front of people we know not to trust, and having Angela wake up with no memory in front of strangers with guns may also not be fun for all.

Angela watched the interplay between Grace and Rick idly, musing to herself that it seemed strange and almost forced. These men were looking after Badger’s interests, not the Baron’s, she recalled, so if that meant Badger was interested in Grace…

"Yeah well Dad was..."

"Don't you dare Rick. Do not cross that line!"

The change in tone and volume roused Angela’s attention, though to look at her, one couldn’t be faulted into thinking she was about to fall asleep. She’d slumped forward, so that she could bring her feet squarely underneath her on the floor, and brace her hands on the table for a quick push, but her face was still slack with disinterest.

Inwardly, however, Angela was alert, coldly considering whether Rick and AJ posed a threat at this point. Their words and even their tone conveyed a sense of an argument already (and frequently) held, without resolution, so, within seconds, she dismissed the conflict as interesting but not threatening. A part of her noted Liliana moving into the centre of the room and looking increasingly upset, but the passenger’s emotional state wasn’t her responsibility.

When Liliana dropped the plate of pancakes she was holding and started to cry loudly, Angela dropped the pretense of daydreaming and looked at Liliana directly. Her expression was faintly scornful, but she could feel the tension building in her as Liliana wailed even louder. Adrenaline pumping, Angela tensed her muscles, waiting for a sign that she needed to act.

When Seth came running into the galley holding the gun, Angela moved . One second she was seated behind a table, the next she was launching herself off that table like a bullet towards Seth, her entire world centered on that hand.

Threat level confirmed! Disarm and neutralize! snapped Ming inside Angela’s head, and she concentrated her attack on a numbing chop to the hand holding the gun, and a larynx-bruising elbow to Seth’s throat.

“Just coming to meet with you this morning in case you need help but I’m guessing that you didn’t sleep last night. You know that you can’t do that for all five days we are on route right?”

Tess smiled one of her crooked smiles and that simply made Angela happy, but the thought of not being able to stay awake indefinitely dimmed Angela's smile a bit.

"Yeah, I know. I mean, I guess I do. I'll get tired and careless and that's when accidents happen. Sigh. Any idea how long I've managed? "

That last part must have too low for Tess or she simply didn't want to address it as she continued, “Okay, Angela. Listen up. We will head to the kitchen, have some breakfast and see how things unfolds today. Observe as much as you can and when the meal is over, report to Grace if you noticed anything, Dong ma?”
That was the firm tone of an assignment, so Angela blinked, and nodded, playfulness set aside. She was happy to be needed though, so she contentedly walked along with Tess and Catie while Tess gave Catie her own orders. Wonder if she's like me? Needs direction and all?

In the galley, Angela barely slowed her pace into the room, but she made a quick visual scan and noted everyone's location without really seeming to look at anyone directly. Catie made her way to the cooking and prep area, so Angela sat quietly and waited with the patience of long practice. She put her hands on the table as she often did in "sit and watch" mode, and anyone looking at her would think she was more interested in her hands than anything else, but she was all ears and cautious eyes.

She noted the interaction with JC and Seth, and when Asante invited herself to join, Angela was glad she's already gotten her workout in: that gym wasn't very big and there was about to be a lot of big muscles and bigger egos flexed there. She smirked to herself a little and watched Liliana help Catie, hoping it would mean the food would be ready sooner....Angela was ready to chew off her own hand, she was so hungry.

(Assuming the pancakes are served eventually, since Grace shows up well afterwards and makes her own oatmeal)...

Having demolished a plate of pancakes that would have made JC wince, Angela surreptitiously wiped one finger along the plate, trying to gather every last crumb. She'd thanked Catie and Liliana when served, and again when she'd tasted the pancakes, declaring them the best she'd ever had. Tess had made a choking sound at that, but dodged Angela's stink eye by greeting Grace as the mechanic virtually sleep-walked in.

“Good morning sunshine!” Tess called out as she passed, “Glad you could join the land of the living. Grace.”

Grace barely registered as awake, giving Tess a slight wave as she moved to the galley and made her own breakfast of oatmeal in what could be best be described as auto-pilot. Grace watched her to make sure she didn't walk into anything, but then realized she wasn't the only one watching.

The Simon brothers seemed more interested in Grace than their supposed client, and the way they seemed to communicate with each other using just glances irritated Angela mildly. It wasn't sign language or finger signals that she could tell, but she could almost see the thought bubbles over their heads. See, but not read. Very frustrating.

Rick got up to sit beside Grace and tried to talk to her. Angela now had to divide her attention between AJ and Rick, but at least the brothers wouldn't be "not-talking" while they were apart. Angela leaned back against her chairback as if day dreaming and relaxed all her muscles, letting her eyelids droop to half closed. She'd never be able to explain why, but by not focusing on anything specific she was usually able to take in and notice everything. Like watching the forest by ignoring the trees.

Willow walked deeper into the caves, she wished the thickness of the stone would muffle the sounds of battle completely. She'd still know her loved ones were fighting for their lives, but maybe she wouldn't feel so useless, so helpless. She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts of negativity and her nostrils of a chemical stench...

...of ozone! Willow's eyes opened wide and she scanned the ground around her, but a dirt floor was no place to find different dirt, however unique. She kept sniffing and peering into every one of the little nooks optimistically called conjugal rooms, but the stink was in her nose now so she couldn't really tell if it was stronger or weaker in any direction.

She continued deeper into the cave however, hoping that the smell did not mean that Matheson was dead. She was angry at him and was fully prepared to unleash the Companion's Guild on him for those devices, but death was never what she would wish on anyone. Especially not this death.

A glint of refracted light caught the corner of her eye, leading Willow to Matheson's walking can/weapon. It was leaning up against the wall as if Matheson had needed both hands, and Willow looked around at the ground closely. She still couldn't tell if the dirt was anything other than cave dirt, but this time she caught sight of a red flicker. In the dust was a PADD, a personal access data device, and she picked it up, recognizing it as the device Matheson had been using earlier. She hugged it to herself briefly, praying for his soul's release onto its journey, then examined it more closely. She opened it to turn on the display screen, hoping to see whatever Matheson had last discovered......

Subject: New Day, Same Angela

When things got a little heated between the captain, Grace and Tess, Angela's eyes grew wide and she shrank back against the wall, looking all the world like a little girl wanting to hide when her parents are fighting.

Her hands were clenched at her sides as she watched the exchange carefully, flinching at every arm wave and gesture. Tess seemed to be able to say something that got them all smiling sheepishly, though Angela hadn't heard it over the rushing sound of blood in her ears.

Soon enough, things were wrapping up and people were making their way out of the captain's room. Grace had left without giving Angela any orders, so Angela simply sat until she realized she should probably leave, too.

With a touch of colour rising on her cheeks, Angela ducked her head and wished the Captain and Doc Stephanie good night before heading back to the cargo area. There, she spent a few minutes checking the stacks of luggage, but they were already arranged in the optimal way for stability and even distribution of mass, so there was little to do.

She didn't want to sleep. Not by a long shot. She'd learned so much today - about the ship, the people she called friends, even herself. No way was she going to let sleep wash it all away again. She flicked her earlobe painfully, feeling the pain push away the fog of tiredness, and padded quickly along the passageways of the ship. Soon enough she found the gym and spent the night hours jumping rope, the skip rope a blur of time around her.

*************************************************************************************

When the ship's lighting shifted from night mode to the brighter day mode, Angela carefully put away the equipment as she'd found it and returned to her room for a quick wash and change of clothes, muscles aching pleasantly and her face glowing. Her stomach was complaining that her throat must have been cut; how else to explain the lack of food? she laughed at the notion, wondering as ever where it had come from.

Clad in a comfy pair of faded denim pants and a dock worker's shirt over a sleeveless T-shirt, Angela looked at her hair critically in the little hand mirror and decided it could go another day before needing a cut. The screen in the wall began to brighten to life but Angela smiled and flicked it off again.

"It's ok, " Angela told the screen before breaking into song and strumming an air guitar," I love myself today, not like yesterday..."

She stepped out of her room and nearly walked into Tess and Catie, both apparently watching for her.
"Hey there! Good morning! What can I do for you, Tess?"

As Willow and Sifu approached the part of the cave dedicated to the communications array, the ground shook. People cried out in terror as dust and dirt fell from the ceiling and a muffled boom could be heard. Willow put her hand up to her mouth as if stifling a gasp and put the paper into her mouth, tucking it into her cheek to soften so she could swallow it later.

She noticed the four young men clustered together talking about the noise, the tall one waving proudly and the others looking horrified. She immediately caught the eye of the smallest (Howard, she thought his name was) but hurriedly changed course when he flashed what was probably supposed to be a charming smile.

"Leonard, isn't it?" she asked as the one with the glasses noticed her and turned to look at her owlishly," Did you happen to see Mr. Matheson? He was going to do something for me when he got here, but I don't see him around..." she let her voice trail off helplessly.

"Matheson? Yeah, I saw him a while ago," Leonard responded distractedly, still throwing disbelieving looks at his tall friend," He went down that way, waving that scanning device he had."

Willow thanked him, and looked in the direction Leonard had indicated (OOC: caves 17, 18 and 19 on page 202 of the Q&A) and tried to not look as scared as she felt. Gulping down her worry (and the now pulpy note), she put her hands in the pockets of her lab coat and strode down the cavern determinedly.

I'm sorry, and maybe it's a deliberate character trait, but nearly everything out of Catie's mouth makes me, the player, go "Huh?"

If it's deliberate, cool, then Angela can express HER confusion, but I really got stuck at the following:

"A line of inquiry that might be worth looking into, perhaps we're approaching the situation from the wrong angle. If Lilianna isn't happy, then it's unlikely it's for her benefit or feelings, but rather for his benefit. We might be able to find something from that side."

I am left wondering which "his" are we talking about? The mysterious man in the photo? the bridegroom? the father of the bride, the man who hired us, the bodyguard or the Almighty (sorry, couldn't resist )

Personally speaking - I think Jon's contribution is clear, and Angela is passive as she is wont to do when not asked directly. We've heard from Catie but the rest of the crew is "Absent without Leave"

This was clearly meant to be a potentially divisive moment in the story line and so far, crew response is "meh"

Angela was happy to be helping Grace, even if she wasn't quite sure what she was supposed to be doing. The luggage had been easy enough to stack and re-stack as Grace x-rayed it, and it was easy enough to realize that most of the luggage wasn't locked. They all had the same combination of numbers set, so it was like Lilianna had unlocked them for packing and forgot to spin the rollers again to hide the combination.

Angela shook her head at that...she'd forgotten her whole life, but she was doing something, she focussed completely on it...no detail overlooked. Putting back the picture as if it had never been moved was easy, since Angela had noticed how the lace shawl was folded around it. She repeated the folding exactly the way she saw it in her mind, then carefully slipped it back into place among the packed clothes by touch - on top of the soft fuzzy thing but beneath the smooth slick material.

The case with the small device hidden inside was another matter. This one was locked and it was a much more complicated lock than a simple combination lock, and after thinking a moment, she knew it couldn't be opened without tools she simply didn't have. "I'm sorry Grace but I can't open this without setting off whatever security feature is built into the case. Funny she'd have one case with such high security and all the rest unlocked."

Now, in Jon's room, Angela simply sat as the others discussed what they'd found out. It didn't matter to her what Lilianna wanted or didn't want. She was told to do something, and Angela, well, she believed in doing what you were told.

Subject: Willow's tired and grumpy....mercs better approach with caution!

When Amber told her story, it took all of Willow's discipline and training to not let her disgust, horror, and even pity show on her face or in her body language. She kept reminding herself that Amber needed her strength, not her pity. She kept her arm around the girl's shoulders as she cried - a subtle pressure that spoke of acceptance and comfort.

After a while, the sobbing turned to little hitches of breath, then long silences broken by a sigh. Amber finally lifted her head to continue," He has a whole bunch of those thing Willow. Some group of investors were gonna meet him and use them for spying and controlling people. We can't let that happen Willow! I don't want anyone to feel what I did. But you need to be careful of John cause he has a lot of tricks up his sleeve and powerful devices. He'd kill us all if he thought we were going to interfere with his plans."

Willow gave one last squeeze of Amber's shoulders and let go, relieved that Amber was moving past her crisis to think of others. It was the most maturity she'd ever seen of the girl in their entire lives together.

"Those devices will never see the light of day, if I have anything to do with it, "Willow responded grimly, her face set into a mask of determination, " and Matheson may find himself without many allies once the Guild hears of this."

Once they reached the caves, Willow let her eyes adjust from daylight to the relative gloom of the cave, then scanned the crowd, searching for Sifu. She spotted him, surrounded by most of the people she wanted to locate.

"Sifu? Where is my daughter?" Portia Amber's voice, like any shrill sound, travelled the distance of the cave readily and Willow winced, regretting having to leave Sifu with that dreadful woman. Sifu's quiet response was lost in the reverberations of sound around the cave, but Portia's body language spoke volumes about her displeasure. Willow squeezed Amber's hand and leaned in close to murmur in her ear.

"What happened to you is your business, not your mother's. You can tell her or not; she will not hear of it from me. " (OOC: not assuming Amber's response)

Soon enough, though, Willow and Amber threaded their way through the crowd to reach Sifu's side. As Portia turned to face them and opened her mouth, Willow decided she'd had enough for one day.

"Mrs. Amber-sama. So pleased to hear from such a great distance that you remembered you have a daughter. She is fine, no thanks to your maternal concern. You must have run everyone's income statement here in the cave and have decided to move on? Hopefully we can accommodate you soon enough."

Willow turned abruptly back to face Sifu, her dismissal of Portia evident in every line of her body. "Sifu, you were supposed to take it easy...please tell me what needs doing and I'll make sure it gets done. I want you sitting down and resting."

Subject: Willow, in the med bay, with a gas cannister

Willow returned to the medical bay after the meeting with the rest of the crew and the change in plans. A dull ache of exhaustion had settled behind her eyes, but she did her best to ignore it; they'd either have all the time in the world for sleep later, or never need sleep again.

"Black, white, yin, yang, dead, alive, sunrise, sunset...all illusions of what always will be," she muttered to herself, but putting her black thoughts aside as she entered the bay to find her two patients talking together quietly. Amber had the drawn look of too many nights with too little sleep. Havelock, on the other hand, looked ready to take on the world, having redressed himself.

"There you are, my dear," he greeted Willow with too much energy for a recent surgery patient," I told our young lady here that you would be back and that I wouldn't leave until you returned. Now that you are here, though..."

"I can't convince you to stay out of this fight, can I?" Willow asked, her sad smile already answering her own question.

"I'm a soldier, Miss, all I know. If I can do my part to keep you all safe, how can I hide here?" Havelock replied with fatal simplicity.

Willow nodded, but held up a hand to ask him to wait, turning to the anaesthetic canisters hooked up beside the monitors. She reached over to unscrew the tank connected to the ventilation mask, and was grateful her back was turned to Havelock; her hands shook with fear and exhaustion. She closed her eyes for a moment, feeling overwhelmed, then put it aside as best she could: she was needed, and had her own battle to fight.

Squaring her shoulders, she opened her eyes and unscrewed the gas canister, handing it to Havelock, and pointed out the spare canister standing next to the equipment.

"Take these both to Wolf; he'll need to connect both to have enough gas to fill the cargo bay, but he should only open the canisters halfway - that's enough of a concentration to knock people out, not put them so far under that they stop breathing. Be safe, my dear, please?"

Havelock gave her some vague platitudes that meant nothing, and Willow knew that he would rather die in a fight than wasting away in age and obsolescence. She kissed his cheek, claiming it was for luck, and sent him on his way.

That left Amber. Willow looked at the girl, who would hold her gaze briefly before looking away uncomfortably, shame written in every line of her posture. Willow pulled another set of surgical scrubs from the cupboard (making a mental note that she'd have to get more!).

"Let's get you dressed, Amber, then we can head to caves and find your mother," Willow said brightly, seemingly brisk and professional, but watching closely for Amber's reaction.
"We'll get a lift there from one of the men - I don't think you're up for a walk like that yet and I'm wearing completely the wrong shoes," Willow smiled, then turned serious. 'Once we are on our way, we can talk about what happened, ok? I don't want you to feel ashamed... a large part of your feelings were out of your control, and that's not your fault."

In the cargo bay, Liliana seems unsure of how to respond, then finally tells Angela she wants the brown case.

“I will be able to come down and get items later, I assume?”

“Oh yes, Miss, of course. Just let me know so I can move things around to get at whatever you want. I stow things away safe and sturdy, and like to be the one to re-arrange ‘em again,” Angela smiled as reassuringly as possible. Part of her wanted to hold the girl and tell her everything would be ok, but since she didn’t know that for certain, she kept her tongue.

Next, the two Simon brothers shared a glance, then AJ set down a bag and showed Angela the contents.

There is a shotgun, pump, and a saw off double barrels, plus my service revolver and my rifle. All have the locks on the triggers, the rifle is disassembled and locked in the soft case." Angela leaned over to peer into the case, nodding with satisfaction.

Rick, on the other hand, looked sheepish as he dumped his bag with a clatter. " Umm. Shotgun. Pistol. What he said although without trigger locks and the pistol is loaded. But the safety is on. I think. Can I get a receipt please?"

Angela winced at the clatter, her hands reflexively clenching as if knuckles were being rapped. She dropped to her haunches, throwing Rick a disgusted look.

“A receipt? Lucky you get your toys back, iffen you don’t know how to care for them…hunh! Born inna barn?”

Angela carefully removed each item, expertly triggering the safety while simultaneously removing ammo cartridges. She handled the weapons with the confidence and ease of long practice, laying each one down neatly with ammo lined up alongside. Her inventory completed, she carefully re-packed the bag, her lips pursed disapprovingly.

Asante watched with apparent amusement before offering her own bag. "I am sorry but unless you consider a pair of stiletto heels and a fully stocked makeup kit dangerous - I'm rather unarmed."

Angela smiled at the joke, her eyes briefly unfocussed as she thought about the heels, blinking back almost immediately.

“Oh miss, I can think of three ways to kill a man with those heels, but you’re fine – they’re no threat to the ship, and that’s all I’m after.”

Seth was another story. He let everyone else offer up their weapons before refusing to disarm. "I cannot allow to be disarmed. I am entrusted with Miss Fairchild's protection. While I appreciate the assistance of the Captain and his crew, it is my honour to protect her I I will not let that fall to another man. I assure you that I will not discharge my weapon without dire need and that it is a pulse plasma gun so it can not harm your ship while on the lesser setting. I do hope this is understood and acceptable as without your consent, I will have to call my employer and tell him this deal and transport is not to continue."

Angela restrained herself from snorting, but he was three times her size, so she wasn’t about to take him on over a gun. Instead, she looked sidelong at the Captain, who was distracted by the real reason for the client’s subterfuge.
Clever boy, Seth…gonna keep my eye on you. Good thing the looking’s easy on the eyes

Angela busied herself with gathering up the two bags of Smith weapons, and let the Captain and Catie take the passengers on their tour. She made her way to JC’s bunk, where she was pretty certain he’d have a weapons locker. With a wink and a wave, she headed back to the cargo bay, where she re-sorted the luggage, handling each without the grav-assist to understand its true mass, then moving it so that the mass was evenly distributed around the cargo bay, with clear paths around each pile. (OOC: she’ll make a note of items that seem lighter or heavier than they should be, and will consider the latch/lock carefully…maybe she knows how to open them inconspicuously? )

She’s cheerfully working away, the effort raising a light sheen of sweat and keeping sleep away, when Stephanie comes looking for Jon. Angela paused, wiping her brow with her forearm, and still managed to smear dirt across her face.

“They were giving our passengers the grand tour,” Angela smiled at Dr. Steph,’ though that was a while ago...they’d be at the passenger rooms by now…try there!”

While in flight to the pickup point, Angela had something to eat and drank as many cups of ‘spro as she drink without burning her lips or souring her stomach. The synthetic “coffee” had the kick she needed to stay alert, and there was still so much to do, Angela didn’t want to sleep and risk forgetting what she’d gained.

She figured rich people wouldn’t travel light, no matter how much of a hurry they were in, so she dug out the worker’s coverall she’d seen in her trunk and put it on, tucking heavy cotton duck gloves in one of the numerous pockets. She tied her hair into a kerchief and covered it with a cap, and looked at the results in the mirror.

“Suitable non-descript,” she mused to the stranger staring back at her, “just a ship’s workhand…pay me no mind, miss.”

With nothing else to do but wait, she passed the time with deep knee bends and shadow boxing – the increased blood flow helping to keep fatigue at bay.

At the landing zone, Angela hung back, standing in the shadows on the ramp instead of being part of the welcoming committee. She watched the security unload a veritable mountain of luggage and form a perimeter around the land vehicle and the ship’s ramp.

Their passengers approached, and the young woman seemed upset, but maybe she was just tired. It was an awful late time to be catching a flight.

Angela stopped her musing over the princess when she realized that Jon and the bodyguard were at an impasse over the luggage. She tugged her hat brim down a little more over her face and stomped down the ramp sturdily.

“No worries, Cap’n, “she assured Jon,” I’m on it. We’ll get this stowed away inna cargo bay in no time. Uh, Miss? One these needed in your room? Won’t all fit but you prolly have yer essentials in one of ‘em.”

(She’ll make note of the case if Liliana or Asante respond, but otherwise doesn’t really engage them. It’s like only the luggage really matters. )

As the last of the luggage was brought into the cargo bay, she thanked anyone who helped, before turning wide-eyed to Seth and the Simons.

“Now, I’m guessin’ you all have lockboxes for yer weapons, or do you need to use one of ours? Not wanting any discharges during flight, an’ all that. Bad for pressurization.”

Is it SOP to let passengers carry weapons on board? especially since we know two of them aren"t the pros we were led to believe they are

Angela had listened to what JC and Tess had to say about the Simon boys, and it reminded her of her first assessment when she’d entered the room. She’d been on assignment and had been told to keep the crew safe, so seeing guns out and openly held had put her on high alert. The “boys” had troubled her…

“The Simon brothers may not be ghosts,” she finally ventured quietly,” but they’re not professionals of any sort. Consider JC…and even Jon,” she wrinkled her nose at the Captain.

“Jon keeps his shoulders square and his weight balanced on his feet…discipline that gets hammered into you when serving and you never let it go entirely. Then there’s JC..”

Angela paused a moment, then flipped back a few pages in her notebook and read a passage, nodding her head and tapping the page with satisfaction.

“I noticed today that JC always keeps a clear line of sight throughout any room…he’s subtle about it, but I remembered seeing a note about it, so it’s habit with him…too.

Those brothers are sloppy and undisciplined. If we can find a good reason for them to surrender their weapons while on board, we only have to worry about their hand to hand skills…and I could take them.”

Angela’s final statement was made with a chilling certainty

All ships have a fire suppression system - and likely a gas that can be quickly vented, rather than water that is heavy (and too valuable for other things like sustaining life). Willow has a fully equipped medical bay, including anesthetic gas....if we tell him we've left the case on the ship and abandoned it (take what you want and go!) then we can gas them as they come aboard.
