I've got a busy day at work (back to back teleconference calls from 10am to 4:30pm) so I'll just have to post to my game tonight. If anyone has invented an app that will fetch coffee, let me know? kthxbai!

The pacing and rhythm both support the mood of the poem, the ebb and flow of the sea echoing the surge and wane of our emotions. I like also how your restraint in describing the boy's responses allow us to infer our own experiences. Too often people describe a moment too fully, making the reader be passive, instead of letting us feel the spaces between your words.

Again, well done.

En'Aranthea....named for the healing plant Aranthea (Check the Legends of Audalis section, kids )

It would feel wrong to play Runyacath without Zibli, after all.

I've had two bladesingers in your campaigns and would truly love to dance that deadly dance again.

Runyacath or the other one (whose name escapes me)

For some reason, I've never been mistaken for male, even before I got the nickname of "Den Mother" and got my own avatar

But its true, in North America, at least, we generally attribute a female gender to names ending with an "a". Oh, and the more recent trend of changing the "y" at the end of a name to "ie" (Bobbie or Cathie) tends to imply femininity.

As long as we don't have a font that dots the "I" with a heart, confusion will remain!

Topic: Another rant from a cat with too much time to think.
Subject: Some excellent discourse here!

I firmly believe words are powerful and should not be used carelessly. Hate is one of those words, so when I hear it used casually, I usually question the person if it is someone I know. It's ok to dislike, or really dislike someone or something, but to hate? That should be a strong feeling, and these days, it is thrown around as easily as "lol".

On the other hand, a language must evolve to remain vibrant, as Loki pointed out. For some examples of this, read The Mother Tongue by Bill Bryson. It's fascinating to see how English has borrowed from so many other languages, and influenced others. And Shakespeare? He was the most prolific word creator we have, contributing new words with nearly every one of his works.

Can I dislike the declining vocabulary in common usage? Absolutely! Do I sometimes intimidate others with my ability to articulate my views and expound my theories? Apparently! Would I ever use "bra" in a sentence without meaning a piece of lingerie? Never!

It's a quantum leap of maturity to understand that the only thing we have power over is ourselves, so congratulations on making that realization.

We can't change the cards we are dealt, but we can manage how we react to them, how we play them, and how we affect the people around us. If we can it with grace and kindness, then we can then hope to inspire the same grace around us.

Well done for choosing to make that journey. If you ever feel it is getting hard, feel free to PM me.

Subject: *pokes head up from RL dramas*

Missed the ongoing drama here of late, but I've been more MIA than our own dear Eol, who has also got to be one of the more laid back, easy-going members of the staff.

All I will say, is to share something I used to tell MMV when she was having problems at school with friends who weren't acting very much like friends: it takes two people to have an argument. If you don't return fire, the other person has no reason to persist, and will only make themselves look foolish by trying to fight with someone who steadfastly refuses to engage.

That said, if you really can't take the abuse, reach out to one of the mods. The internet really isn't a magic Etch A Sketch where words disappear into the ether...we can investigate and we can (and will) take action against anyone who violates the TOS, long term Innmate, newbie, or staff member.

As Den Mother, let me finish with a few more Momisms:

Play Nice
Don't Feed the Trolls
Be Excellent to Each Other (also known as Wheaton's Law: Don't be a D*ck)

As they descended into the mine, Willow looked up at the elevator cable winding through the mechanism and snaking up into the darkness. Such a slender thread to hang all their lives in the balance. Much like the chesspiece in her gloved hand, it seemed too fragile for hope.

"Willow," Wyatt's voice drifted out of the dark, and Willow shivered at its coldness, "You handle the diplomacy. Ku?"

"As long as there is a chance at diplomacy," Willow replied as calmly as she could, reaching for a doctor's detachment and a Companion's serenity," They need the code in my head as much as they need the key. Let me play that card as I see fit, and please trust me, no matter what I may say. Bridgitte thinks of men as tools to be used and discarded, and she'll respect me more if I appear to be the same. I'm glad to hear that you are mending, and that you will be "around" even if just mostly lurking for the next little while.

I want to thank Kyle and Keeper of Dragons (and family) for helping Tann and his mom through this...it's hard to be so far away when a friend is hurting, so thank you for being there for all of us.

Words lie. People lie, and some lie as easily as they breathe. A lie was a falsehood, however, and so it pained the soul, even in those so dark they were near soul-less. That pain festered, and revealed itself in ways that could be observed: a grimace of shame, a flicker of resolution, a hand tremor of fear. Cullen showed none of these, nor any sign as he spoke to the Captain. Anger, worry, fear; all were present, but directed where they belonged, and so Willow caught the Captain's eye, then nodded imperceptibly.

The news about the different levels was worrisome. She could count on Wyatt and even Sam for a cerain discipline, but the new sheriff had shown himself hasty with the guns. She tightened her grip on the chesspiece, then forced herself to relax, waiting for the Captain to respond.
