The benefits is boundless...

Actually, I guess it depends on how it's played, really.

"Friends in high places", for example, got Willow a nice favor for Ash from Sunni... in turn, that may just make the Kid look like some big wig or knight in shining armor to Beth, thereby leading to a new contact for Ash or more.

Kora's "Branded" trait has also helped you out, already. If it hadn't been for one of the thugs in the market catching sight of that tattoo, ya might've had one heck of a tussle on yer hands. So, in that regard, and even though "branded" is a complication as opposed to an asset, it kept ya from bleedin'/ runnin' afoul o' the gorram law/ killin' somebody an' drawin' undue attention to the ship and her crew... get it?

Cool, huh?

it's great but...

I meant do we get something like extra life points or some incentive other than the "good" that comes from playing our assets/complications?

plot points

Playing to your complications will lead to you getting plot points that allow you to effect the story, save your bacon, or make better skill rolls. Example would be Asher using plots point to seduce Beth and hence a quick blurb of an evening has now fdrwan out into an adventure of its own.

Playing assets have bonuses built in, but good roleplaying in general leads to advancement points that you can use to gain more skills, or better at the skill you already have.

Hopefully all of us.

It isn't so much an effort to declare a winner as an opportunity to advance your character, effect the storyline, etc. through excellent roleplay. In a lot of games the incentive to actually roleplay is overruled by the desire to improve your character statistics, gain new skills, earn bigger and better numbers, etc. The infusion of a Plot Point system helps people realize that the idea of roleplay is to play the character for the benefit of the ongoing story. The numbers on your character sheet are there to help direct your capabilities within the storyline. A lot of gamers have forgotten this (it is one reason why I have a beef with D&D after all of these years, though we won't get into that). In any case, winners are defined by the fact that your character is still alive when all is said and done (or not, if your character died in a way befitting their personality) and that you had fun while playing them, helping everyone else in the game do the same thing.

*Steps down off soap box*

The great thing is that we're all doing a bang-up job!

Banging?!?!

There was banging?!?! Crap! I missed it!

Good explanation up there on the soap box, too, Brom. I was trying to come up with the words to explain it, myself, but wouldn't have managed that. BRAVO!

Now, game on! (...er... whenever yer ready, of course, Big Al...)

Not trying to rush you...

... we all know how RL can put a speed bump in the road of Postiness.

I'm actually writing up a little "filler post" for Dash, right now, anyway... nothing major, just a stroll thru the ship and a little bit on the bridge... we'll be here when you get a minute to take a breath.

where's everybody sleeping?

I know we talked about this before but the only ones I remember are Willow...upper deck, Dash...upperdeck. and Wyatt upperdeck.

I took #6 lower deck...which ones are Trish and Asher's rooms?

Bunks

According to the map you're looking at, Fuby, the bunks are like this.
  • Wyatt - bunk 1 (Mal's bunk)
  • Willow - bunk 4 (Wash and Zoe's)(you did take the other double, right Van?)
  • Dash - bunk 3 (Jayne's)
  • Kora - bunk 6 (River's room)

Given those arrangements, that leaves bunks 2 (Kaylee's) and 5 (unused on show) for Asher and Trish to claim (unless one or both would take one of the rooms down on the lower level near Kora). My guess would be that Trish'd claim #5 (close to the kitchen, y'know) but I'm just guessin'.
