I've spent a great deal of time on reports/projects this weekend; more than I was expecting.

I do have a post in the works; will look to have it up tomorrow morning.

My apologies for the delays.

Subject: Interesting

You're referring to the Enhanced Edition I take it?

Haven't really paid attention to it, as I still have the original set of discs for Baldur's Gate. Works like a charm too.

I love the game, and tend to fall back on it when I crave a good rpg (usually at such a time where I don't remember every exact detail, and playing a class differently than before).

That being said, it may be nice to see it all dolled up; see how Overhaul does.

Cheers for bringing it up mate.

Stardate ????
????

Raphael was floating. Drifting lazily in the darkness, faintly aware of his surroundings, he was floating. For how long he did not know.

Alone.

There was nothing within this blackness. The sensations of surfaces were not present here, nor was there the dim hum of the starship. It was an endless void, an absence of perception. Of where he was Raphael could not guess, but the distinct light of the stars he had spent his life among had also abandoned him to this darkness. He could barely see his own hand in front of him…

I can see The thought disrupted his mind. If I can see, there must be a light source

He tried to look around, to reorient himself, but his sudden motion sent Raphael into a tumbling spin. Rotating in place, he felt a menacing dizziness, vaguely recalling he had struck his head. However, when he touched his head the wound was gone. His senses were betraying him. With grim determination he set about achieving spatial stability.

Finally steading himself in the orientation he decided was up, the Chief Flight Control Officer of the Discovery managed to survey his surroundings. Within moments he located a distant glimmer of light, a spec in the darkness, beckoning him to go to it.

Slowly, he tried to move towards it, but conventional movements only caused him to pitch again. Pausing a moment, he began theorizing a means to advance, perhaps similar to zero gravity. With a bit of humor, he attempted to thrust forward by some combination of motions that horrible fused swimming and floundering. Feeling the fool, Raphael stopped and calmed himself.

If I only had the means to fly, perhaps then…

A realization donned on him. If this place did not abide by the rules of gravity and, he senses could determine any direction as up or down, perhaps he could simply decide to fly.

Kicking his feet back as if to launch himself, willing himself to fly, Raphael was startled to find himself advancing. The sudden sensations of flight took over; thrill filled his mind, and as he began to maneuver in every way he had ever done with a ship, until he saw the light again. It was closer now, but still calling him towards it, and he was more than happy to oblige.

Advancing through the darkness at speeds he thought he’d never move Raphael quickly made the distance and was astonished. There, emanating this light was the figure of a woman with wings, but the brilliance of her shining appearance forced him to close his eyes

Stardate:2368.07.08
USS Discovery; Deck 4; Shuttle Bay One – 0325-0340

As Raphael opened his eyes again the figure of the winged woman was still there, but was out of focus. His mind raced as his senses tried to adjust.

“Ez duzu espaziontzi bat beha, denean hegoak izan duzu” He murmured, finding his voice barely audible. He tried to force his eyes open again, but still everything was out of focus.

((assuming she doesn’t catch that, or ignores it))

“You’re awake. That’s a good sign.” Looking over him quickly she smiled to the man, “You have a mild concussion, I suggest taking things easier than normal for a day or two.”

Finally, Raphael was able to focus his sight to see the Chief Medical Officer standing over him; she shifted suddenly, and seemed to be speaking over her comm.

“Beraz, aingeru baten bila askoz” he murmured again, releasing a sigh. It must have been a dream.

((again assuming she doesn’t catch it, as she’s talking))

Shortly thereafter the doctor returned, “Alright aside from taking it easy you should be fine to walk around. And when I say taking it easy – I do mean taking it easy, that means no crawling under the Shuttle’s to look at them for a few days. I’m sure one of the other’s in your department surely knows what to do.”

Trying to sit up, Raphael began to protest. “I’m not about to…” The wave of nausea and the stern glare from Lana canceled his protest for him. “…fine Doctor. Orders received.” He sighed.

But I’m not about to let some irrikaz Ensign ruin weeks of modifications

The CMO, satisfied with Raphael’s condition left to attend to other duties, and Raphael requested Kampf keep any non-senior staff out of his shuttle before departing the bay.

Tracking down Lieutenant Scofield in Ten-Forward, he received a brief review of the events that occurred in his absence, though he was certain that he’d be given a more accurate account at the morning meeting.

Returning to his quarters for rest before the meeting, Raphael could have sworn he saw the winged woman again as his perception drifted to the blackness of sleep.

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery, main bridge – 0321

Intently re-running the diagnosis on the thrusters yet again, seeking something he had misread to allow them to escape the dire situation, Thorn was first shocked and then relieved to watch the numbers shift back to nominal levels. The Captain’s reveal, though startling, was like a weight off the young Ensign’s shoulders; the ship was not lost – he hadn’t navigated into some horrible trap.

His panic dissipating, Thorn mused that the ship-wide simulation was at such a scale compared to Zavaleta’s training flight-sims that he had truly believed they were in hot water. However, everyone had acted the way they should in such an emergency; leading him to believe there was likely an evaluation of sorts to come, especially considering the way the CFCO normally did for the smaller sims.

Looking up at the aFCO who was still breathing heavily, Thorn was about to speak when the Operations Officer practically stormed out of his seat and off the bridge. Sparing a moment to stare after him, Thorn’s gaze shifted back to the aFCO.

“Sir. I should be fit to fly for the remainder.”

Hopefully the rest of his shift was uneventful.

Stardate 2368.07.08

Lieutenant Scofield was less than amused. She had rushed halfway across the ship from one simulation to another, and it left her feeling rather foolish. She wanted to blow something up, to vent her anger, but that would involve even more simulations. Even as the Captain was finishing his crew address her frustration began to turn to annoyed speculation; Zavaleta was likely in on it, some elaborate ruse to help test his staff under stress – poor Thorn. The CFCO wasn’t going to get away without getting chewed out for this…

At least that was Scofield’s plan, until the Captain made his next move; he contacted the doctor. Overhearing that the CMO was actually checking on Zavaleta, Scofield felt horrid for her suspicions; she needed to walk away from this situation.

It seemed she wasn’t alone in that sentiment; the Chief Operations officer stormed past her, leaving her dumb-struck by his haste.

“Sir. I should be fit to fly for the remainder.” Thorn was more resilient than she had given credit for.

“Carry on Ensign. Good work.”

As she headed towards the turbolift, Scofield debated a drink; she’d had enough simulations for one night.

Zavaleta will certainly have a different outlook, once he wakes up. Likely a few choice words in mind for N'doog as well if he finds out the turbulance was him. Though, given how Zavaleta thinks, he may then ask N'doog to help plot another flight sim...

Scofield is likely unhappy, considering she can barely breathe, and poor Thorn is bewildered out of his mind

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery - Deck 3; Lieutenant Scofield's Quarters – 0318

Lieutenant Scofield was hastily donning her uniform. She had just reached her quarters when the report came that Zavaleta had, in fact, been incapacitated in the initial strike. She felt foolish for not checking to ensure he was en-route to the bridge while she was returning from the holosuite; a significant lapse in judgement that she was certain would come back to bite her.

Furthermore she was now exceedingly worried knowing that Ensign Thorn was most likely alone at the Conn.
The kid had just recently been promoted to an FCO She bit the corner of her lip in agitation Talk about a initiation by bloody fire; He's probably going out of his mind.

Evelynn knew she'd have to hurry to the bridge, but having already run the length of the ship to reach the turbolift on Deck 12, she was already breathing heavily; she needed to have some breath when she got there.

As she was making her way to the turbolift she felt the sudden lurching of the ship after the third impact, and nearly lost her footing. New warnings began to blare, but she paid them no mind; they could still save the ship, they had to. Focusing on this thought the aCFO hurried to the bridge; she ran.

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery -Bridge – 0320

At the Captain's order Ensign Thorn began taking what he could call extremely cautionary evasive manuevers; it was difficult to account for attacks that could spawn from anywhere. The decision to move opposite the direction of damage seemed sound, and he navigated the starship into the range they identified.

At least they have a plan, he thought, nervously bringing the ship about. but won't our attackers move about too? Either we sprung their trap... or they snuck up on us with active cloaks...

He wasn't sure which option he preferred; in either case the attackers had caught them completely off guard and the situation was escalating by the minute. Gulping back his fear, Thorn eased the Discovery about in an arc to face the location they had previously occupied. "In position"

Within a fleeting moment all seemed well, until the third pitching of the deck had Thorn gripping the console with blanched knuckles; there was nothing he could have done to avoid the hit.

=/\=WARNING! Hull breach detected on decks twenty and twenty-four.=/\=

Everything descended from there. Warnings blared and there was a sudden bull rush of everyone reporting in a chaotic mishmash that the Captain was expected to sort out.

However things were worse still; Thorn tried to compensate for the blast, to quickly stabilize the ship, only to find the port impulse nearly unresponsive.

No.... nononononononono Frantically re-running the diagnostics from his terminal Thorn, feared the worse. As he tried to speak up, he was cut off by the Chief Operations Officer, who jumped right into the details of the impacts.

As good as sealing the COO's diagnosis, Thorn forced himself to speak up. "Captain! The port impulse engine is virtually unresponsive. Output well below half of optimality; we're a miracle short of stranded, I don't know that I can avoid further impacts."

In response, the turbolift door once again swooshed open, admitting the panting form of the aCFO.

Inhaling deeply, Scofield quickly saluted the Captain.
"Rreporting," she had to gulp back air "Sir."

She continued towards the conn.

"En--sign. Give me a ..." She paused to catch her breath. "G-give me a read out. What'ave we got to work with here."

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery -Deck 4; Shuttle Bay One – 0325

Lana walked into the shuttle bay, “What happened?”

Kampf was still directing the few of his staff that had remained in the shuttle bay when the Chief Medical Officer had arrived. He had activated the medical equipment module in the cargo bay as emergency preparation for any incoming wounded. This was a factor which greatly contributed to his decision not to contact the transporter rooms to beam the CFO from the deck; med teams would be able to use the bay for their means. The most recent impact had also justified his decision, as the transporters were likely busy and he didn't want to risk the CFO in case of a power flucuation. Kampf felt for those who may be in pain, but he himself had no experience in medical applications; the best he could do was to arrange preparations.

That fact that it was the Chief Medical Officer herself had arrived likely meant she diverted herself from the bridge to assess Zavaleta's condition. A slightly odd occurrence, but one that Kampf felt would would greatly aid in his staff's reception of any incoming wounded. It had taken until just before this point to ensure the module was set up correctly, but the shuttle bay crew had managed to relocate the CFO out of the shuttlecraft and onto a cot to await treatment. Kampf had doubts that he would be coming around anytime soon however.

"Commander. The Lieutenant was working on internal shuttle circuitry when the first impacts occurred." Kampf reported as he led her to Zavaleta's cot. "We did not find him right away, so it is unknown how long he has be unconscious for since we found him. Moving him was performed with as much care as possible, so as not to aggravate any injuries existing injuries; the Lieutenant was bleeding although we have no gauge of severity. Emergency medical equipment has been deployed in the bay, and we are ready for any wounded incoming after that last impact."

Arriving, he paused a moment to let her look over the CFO; an initial uninterrupted assessment. "Commander, I need to organize preparations for additional injured crewmen; I'll leave you to your work. Please," he said, gesturing to his staff. "let us know if we can be of further assistance."

Didn't mean to rob you of the situation. It just seemed like a good way to escalate the situation, what with the Chief Pilot being rendered unconscious.

You could always hurt yourself in another manner, if you really really want, but you are the Chief of Security. I reckon you'd be preparing for potential bording repulsion if the situation arises. Genral battle stations kind of idea.

EDIT: I mean I still have plenty going on; even though I'm currently running it through four perspectives.

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery - Deck 4; Shuttle Bay One – 0313

Removing the panel beneath the flight controls of the Type-8 personnel shuttlecraft, Lieutenant Raphael Zavaleta maneuvered himself to gain access at the circuitry. Over the past few weeks of fine-tuning the craft he had become certain that there was an unacceptable delay in the control response.

The computer diagnosis had stated everything was operating efficiently, within the marginal error expected for the craft. Unsatisfied with this, and seeking to ensure the craft was in top performance, Raphael had been performing mechanical diagnostics for the past several nights. He had already double-checked the RCS thruster intakes, re-calibrated the impulse engines and monitored the navigation sensor responses. It was an ingrained series of tests, just the way he had done with his father back on Utopia when he had leave from the fleet yard.

Analyzing the flight control connections of the craft for any disruptions was the next step in the testing, and should, as far as Raphael could determine, be the final adjustment needed to make her fly-worthy.

Prone on his back, with his shoulders up within the opening, Raphael reached for his tools as he repositioned the wires. He just needed to access the central board to ensure all the signals were going where they were supposed to....

BOOM!

With the sudden pitching of the starship, Raphael had no time to tell anything was amiss before his head bashed against the frame of the console. Instinctively grabbing his head in pain, Raphael hurriedly tried to relocate himself outside of the confined space...

BOOOMM!

Despite his efforts, Raphael wasn't quick enough to escape the successive impact. The secondary pitch of the starship knocked him back, slamming his head against the floor. As the Red Alert Klaxon began to sound the Chief Flight Control Officer slipped into unconsciousness...

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery - Deck 12; Holosuite Three– 0245-0313

The whistling of the phasers grazing past the fighter snapped Evelynn Scofield back into awareness.

"Shi..".

She'd been getting cocky; the three remaining attack drones were adapting to her motions, predicting her decisions perhaps as quickly as she had been herself. It was time to fix that.

Pitching the vessel into a sudden downward arc into the nearby asteroid belt, she narrowly avoided a direct hit to her engines. Countering her decent with a sharp turn, she began to plot a serpentine path through the asteroids.

With the defensive tactics working, it was time to modify her course for the offensive. Releasing countermeasures to take care of the drones chasing her, Scofield turned about to find only two of the drones headed her way. Firing phasers, as he nursed the craft in and around the drifting space rocks, she could do nothing but grin as her radar read all clear.

Until she looked at the time.

Compared to Zavaleta, her time was pathetic, and it frustrated her. Scofield had seen more action working aboard border-patrol crafts than Zavaleta had ever encountered, and yet even under combat simulations she couldn't keep pace.

She ran the simulation again, with the standard randomization code; having the drones enter in the same place at the same time was too predictable - she needed to hone her response time.

"For frac..."

A phaser beam seemed to dance across the wing of her fighter as she rounded an asteroid. She closed her eyes in anger and missed the visual flicker as the holosuite system took in the first actual impact upon the Discovery. Her craft shook in response to the simulated hit, but it seemed more than what the simulation was programmed for.

Scofield kept flying, unaware until the next impact. She saw the hologram shimmer and jut of of place.

What's wrong with this damn thing?

"Computer. End Program."

As the simulated star space faded away the Red Alert Klaxon sounded; things were worse than she thought.

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery - Bridge– 0318

Ensign Tobias Thorn was sweating bullets at the conn. He was trying to keep the ship stable, but couldn't account for the timing of the impacts; the real situation was nothing like the simulations. It didn't help that he had no idea what was shooting at him, or from where. He took a deep breath at tried to stay calm; his senior officer would certainly chew him out if he let his judgement get overridden by adrenaline again.

The turbo-lift doors slid open behind him and Thorn heard the voice of the Captain assessing the situation, grateful the demand for an explanation was aimed at Arnes. Shortly thereafter the surly second officer was present, giving his own assessment.

Amid the alerts and the in-rush of officers Thorn focused on the matter at hand. He had to be ready to take the appropriate measures for whatever course of action was decided. However try as he might there was another thought nagging at him

Where was the Flight Chief...?

Stardate 2368.07.08
USS Discovery - Deck 4; Shuttle Bay One – 0313-0318

After recovering from the initial shock of the sudden impacts, Trenton Kampf was out of Flight Ops and organizing the maintenance crews on shift. The Red Alert only confirmed the Chief Hanger Officer's concern that something was amiss, and he could sense the growing anxiety of his staff.

"It is important to remain calm," He raised his voice higher than he expected, causing him to pause momentarily; he usually didn't show stress. "Begin standard emergency procedure."

Kampf could tell by a quick glance that the crewmen on shift were fine, but something else bothered him.

Lieutenant Zavaleta had signed in to work on shuttle maintenance. As far as Kampf could tell, the procedure was connected to some kind of fond memories for the Chief FCO, as he did it fairly regularly when he couldn't sleep. The Red Alert meant that he should have proceeded to the bridge, but Kampf did not recall seeing Zavaleta pass Flight Ops to leave. Knowing well which shuttle Zavaleta was working on, Kampf, proceeded to ensure he was gone.

Rounding the corner of the shuttle in question, Kampf found the door ajar, and the unconscious form of the Lieutenant inside.

"Contact Sickbay; We've an officer down!" This was not what he had been hoping to find..."And someone contact Lieutenant Scofield!" Zavaleta's assistant chief would have to step up in this crisis.

Taking a deep breath, Kampf activated his combadge. =/\=Shuttle Bay One to Bridge...=/\=
