This time my article was:

Indiana Health Law Review - a review on bioethics published by law students

From there

1)Health Law
2) Law
3)Philosophy (not the first one, which links to Jurisprudence, but the second link under Philosophy of Law)

Due to my over-activeness here. I yield to Haruspex's word choice.

Without really thinking about them, Irael brought the glowing spheres closer to the corner hoping to, perhaps, keep the darkness at bay a little longer. As he did so he drew his sword and readied his shield moving from the stairwell, forming the traditional buffer zone to protect ranged casters. He was not about to let any of his comrades fall, though Daldren had slipped off to somewhere...

As Daldren emerged from the darkness, Irael placed himself at his side but kept his wits about him. "The darkness is upon us...". The words came out flat, and Irael was unsure if it was his usual demeanor or the exposure to the presence in the corner that made them so. (sense motive upon Daldren). He only half heard the voice of the stranger at the door, there was something far more concerning than him to deal with.

"..." Irael remained silent. Tightening his shoulders he braced himself for what would come next.

Soul Bond

Enchantment

Suspend - Rather than play this card from your hand, you may pay 2 white and remove it from the game with 6 time counters on it. At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When you remove the last, play it without paying its mana cost."

Target creature with artifact becomes bound to it. For the remainder of the game if the artifact is removed in any way, it returns to the creature. Counterspells can delay this effect. If this occurs place a counter on the artifact, and increase the number of turns it takes by one for each spell (max 4).

"Alacrity wielded the hammer as an extension of himself"

Thanks again go to Pit for looking over my work. Cheers!

As said, the folks here are really friendly. I'm sure you can get answers or tips regarding whatever you need; all you need do is ask.

*Tosses a towel over*

You'll need this. Don't ask why... it will be clear soon enough.
I would say wrap it around your head and hide as per your name, but that probably wont do you any good.

Anyway, I notice the bard is starting up again. Off I go.

Cheers!

Alright I've got to concepts on the go at the moment.

One of Jusarin, whom I'd like to apply the scholar kit to, and one of Merca who would easily fit into a heoric role.

Will PM you the details once their stories are in order.

Also this talk of zombies intrigues me.

Leaving the sights and sounds of the dockyard behind him, Basyl entered the northern portion of Marakir. It was small compared to the cities he was used to, but to be fair the size of a port had never mattered to him before- he had rarely left the docks. Of course there had been exceptions to this, times where he had to make his way back to civilization from the fringes. To his joy today was not one them.

With the end of the civil war Tethyr was beginning to re-stabilize, a fact that gave little comfort to Basyl. The need to re-establish trade routes into Tethyr had meant there would be good work aboard a ship, but there was always a catch. The disbanding of milita forces included those volunteers who, like Basyl, had participated in the blockade of Myratma at the wars closing for instance. It was likely that many of those ships had turned into the pirates and raiders who now plagued the routes seeking their own fortunes. The need for work, for coin and thrills had taught him, time and time again, that anxious seamen -merchant or otherwise- were unsafe company in the open seas. It was for this reason that Basyl had opted to try his luck at land..

There had been much discussion aboard the small barge he had traveled upon from Zazesspur, talk of bandits festering within the forests, and the borders being swallowed up by monsters, trouble in areas where small communities could vanish overnight, and similar rumours. More than a handful of passengers were looking for work, all willing to go where they expected coin, and they had spoken of a gathering in which the Duke of Kamlann was to address the common folk. And so it was that Basyl made his way amongst the festivities enjoying the performances, sampling the local mead, challenging a tumbler or two, and found the stage where the speech would begin momentarily.

As the crowd assembled Basyl could not help but frown. Many of those gathered were armed to the teeth, and there was an air of desperation mixed with eagerness emanating from them. These were folk that could easily take a turn for the worse, and may the Maiden take them if they turned on him.

The Duke's speech was filled with the expected bravado and patriotism of any political figure, they crowd complying with the pauses for boos and cheers. Basyl had heard the news before, and what he had not was just a confirmation of the rumuors he heard. When the speech ended and the crowd rushed the sign-ups Basyl was among them, side-stepping and dodging the quizzical stares and death glares he received as he slipped past. He was told by the man working the station the general goal of his group, and that he was to arrive at he Northern gate in the morning to meet with them and a halfling woman named Natalie. With that taken care of, he returned to the dockyard where he sought an inn - or at least a cot- for the night.

Basyl rose early the next morning, cleaning himself the best he could and quickly headed to the North gate. Soon enough the companions had gathered but none had said a word before the halfling woman arrived and called them over.

"So, all four of you know why you are here and what your job is, Passerby is 'bout forty five miles north of here, good two days hard walk, three if you take your time. I can give you half your pay now and half when you come back with valid information or proof if you some how fix things up there."

It seemed a simple enough job to Basyl, a simple excursion to investigate a town. The halfling came closer to them.

"And, please tell me if you see any sign of a halfling up there by the name of Henry. He's my little brother and I'll tell ya that's why I volunteered to take this job, to see what happened to him. If any of you can I'll pay out of pocket for any information on him, I just really need to know what is going on." She moves forward to take your hands and shake them. " Please, be safe and if you have any questions, now's the chance to ask. I'm assuming you have all your needs and gear, as heading out now might be your best chance since it seems many others are on their way out too. And who knows, with this many people on their way out anything can happen on the road. So, does anyone have any questions?"

Time to play the dashing hero Basyl thought quickly

Shaking her hand Basyl nodded. "Aye, fear not little miss, Our Smiling Lady is sure to grace us this day" A grin came to his face to cover his darker addition And the Maiden be satisfied in her current course as we set out on ours.

Basyl hoped his silent prayer would stave off any immediate misfortune.

Giving the others enough time to say their piece - the elf just nodded- Basyl looked to the path ahead. They could socialize on the road.

"Well then lads, let us be off. The day be young and our course be set"

Subject: The starting point...

I agree with Ayrn an idea of a starting point would be nice. As well as alignment, if you have a preference. It works well with the backstory.

So if you'll have me (2ed sounds wonderful and allows me to use these books on my desk ) I'll roll up stats so I can determine a class, but I may go cleric.

Also what is your stance on kits? For example, Barbarians and Cavaliers are fighter/warrior kits in the complete fighter book.

Edit: Shall we e-mail the results for stats with the die roller?

Subject: Quick Appraisal

Loki's method may get a tad confusing, as we'd be using both threads
what Zyphuer suggests seems to be a more refined explanation of 3

ex.:

I lunge into combat towards an enemy who is approaching me and Loki shoots the same one with his bow (with precise shot; oh thee gods with precise shot - please).
dependent on initiative Jozan either explains how the enemy attacks me (we're in melee.), or I reach the enemy (we're in melee) [where precise shot is important] or an arrow whistles past my head into the enemy I'm moving to/is moving towards me (no precise shot needed)

a sum up of each rounds combat makes sense.

<(don't shoot me)>

now 3.5 runs with a set initiative order in each combat; will we be doing that or adopting a more 2ed approach where it changes each round (combat being a chaotic event and such)?

(~3 has my vote)

No sooner had Irael finished instructing Mendez to prepare himself than three doors opened. Directly in front of them Daldren emerged from his room, fully armed and with a concerned expression upon his face. Seeing the pair in the hall, Daldren repeated the importance of awakening the others just to turn and notice Tadirein and Danamar exiting their own rooms.

After agreeing that something was amiss they set out to investigate the lower floor of the inn. Upon descending the stairs, the silence of the dark inn way broken by the main door bursting inward, a figure silhouetted within its frame.

Unable to determine if this figure was an immediate threat, Irael gripped his blade, ready to draw in an instant. Instead of risking direct confrontation with the unknown person Irael looked to where he was certain four tables stood within the common room. Focusing a small amount of his arcane ability he formed a sphere of light upon each table illuminating the room for a short time.
