Topic: Loaded Dice: Strip #1 Subject: hehe
Great to see the nice feedback so far. I think that most gamers will know others that can be compared to characters in the strips.
I'm not 100% happy with the first few strips, as I was a little heavy-handed on the narration, but I'm new to comics, and was trying to figure out how to quickly get the audience to "know" the characters. Luckily, the art is so good that you might overlook some of that.
Anyway, keep your eyes out for new episodes. For now, they shoul dbe up every Monday and Thursday, like clockwork.

I agree @ the archives comment, Vanadia - I'm the same way. Unfortunately, it's not very practical for me to save up a a couple dozen strips.
Sigh, thanks for catching my typo.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Red Dragon Inn proudly presents the inaugral strip of our brand new webcomic, Loaded Dice.
The current target schedule is Mondays and Thursdays. I have set up this forum category on the off chance that there might be discussions about the comic. Also, the site will (should?) make a thread here in my name whenever a new strip is released.
Enjoy! Please feel free to share your thoughts, comments, and criticisms.

Topic: Faulty Xbox (again) Subject: huh?
Now, I don't doubt for a moment your claim that the xbox is made shoddily, to match the lifespan of the warranty. This is a pretty typical business model these days.
Unfortunately, you lose your creditbility and sound like a console fanboy when you then proceed to tell us that the ps3 is much better built, that it will last ten years to the xbox's two to three.
Last time I checked, the ps3 didn't launch until November of 2006. Ergo, the oldest ps3 in North America is less than three years old. Ergo, your claim has absolutely zero data to back it.
Edit: and this is spoken as someone who's "new" xbox just died with a two red light error. At least the warranty is still good.

This is my very last update to this thread prior to the launch of the comic. Depending on one small technical issue, we will be live either Thursday, July 30th or Monday, August 3rd.

Topic: completely off topic Subject: big changes
I have instituted full minor leagues - not just one team, but three level of minors, to closer approximate a real organization.
Of course, this slows down the player creation/draft process... running a draft used to take less than two minutes. It now takes better than six. (not that this matters to anyone)
I'm still tinkering a bit with how player ratings are calculated. I've also added a variety of player progression curves... so no two players will progress the same way. while most will follow a more linear progression path, some will be busts, some will be gems, some will be late bloomers, etc.
I have the system automatically assigning pitchers to roles (first starter, second starter, closer, etc), though you can edit these as you choose. I will soon have it auto-populating the depth chart and lineups, as well.

I have fixed the faulty draft logic that allowed for a lopsided number of pithcers/position players (depending on how badly you weighted the preferences).
Can you try to break this again? I'll run some more test drafts, but I think that I have it.

Topic: Faulty Xbox (again) Subject: well
I had my old one repaired for the red ring of death, which came back a little over a year after the repair - and at which point, I was out of any warantee coverage whatsoever.
I have purchased a new one, and it has been great for the past four months or so. No telling how it will be in the long run, though.

Directly due to Grugg's request, I have added a javascript to validate your draft preferences. If you give a non-integrer value, or give totals that don't add up correctly, the form lets you know and makes you fix it before you submit.
Of course, my backend checks are still there for those who decide to disable javascript in an attempt to break the site.

Microsoft will not help you. You'll spend hours on the phone for nothing.
I have never done a clean Vista install, but have done MANY installs/reinstalls of XP. Personally, I'd go that route, myself.
Check your BIOS settings to see what you have configured as your boot order. It SHOULD be Cd drive, then hard drive. Once the CD files load from XP, the reboot should allow you to remove the disk and let setup continue from the hard drive.
