Subject: The Bryth from the North

Cyrus looked to Eskalios but the golden Skoarn, it seemed, did not have words for the small man. When the Elf greeted the four guards who appeared out of the ether, Cyrus nearly jumped out of his mind. His first instinct was to hide his surprise at their appearance of these new arrivals, though a thought appeared in his mind to allow it to show, to the ends of reinforcing the beliefs the Skoarn held of superiority while granting himself the title of unimportance in the eyes of the demi-dragons. Though for all that, Cyrus sensed that it was too late to change now what had occurred.

"Lead us to the least desired path of dirty servitude that is beneath the life calling of all true blooded Skoarn!" bellowed the young Gold Dragon Shaman as he gave a comical bow to the two foremost guards. Cyrus mentally gagged at the performance put on by his companion. Surely I will not last long if that is the appropriate greeting everytime I need not be suspicious. Cyrus decided that a traditional Berodiman greeting would suffice for one expected not to know the culture of the area yet. He inclined his head with his hands together before him, bending at the waist slightly for added effect. Draygo motioned for him to follow close behind him so he started forward, glancing back at Eskalios, the leader of all shamans emulating the might of the golden dragons, who adopted under his power one silver-blooded man. Much like he was situated between front and rear guard, so too was he between Eskalios and his enemies. He considered what Drago’Solarr had whispered to him, that he and Cyrus were the only two that Eskalios knew could be trusted. Looking at the guards who indeed watched him back at the moment, he decided that he would have to guard his tongue constantly within the city.

Perhaps it is a good thing that no Bryth has attempted to come to the Ashlands thus far. There is far too much politics involved, too many secrets, too much infighting and on a whole, my family has been possessed of too short a temper. When the guards presented he and the Elf with equipment, Cyrus let Draygo choose what he decided would be necessary for the errand. He had traveled once through the Ashlands to get to the city, but he was not familiar with the needs of the terrain. He had heard that south of the Dragon Horn the climates were warmer, but most certainly he had not even anticipated that his winter clothing would so soon see infrequent use.

As they travelled into the dawning city below, Cyrus waited for his companion to decide when talk was appropriate. The man was yet unfamiliar with the extent of hearing had by the population, and would rather that his words not weighed and measured at every utterance. He would greatly like to know more about the nature of their mission, and his curiosity yearned to be satisfied.

Subject: I know it is largely a summary, but give me credit. It's late and I'm still suffering from post-To

Percy at first approached with a soft apology upon her lips, murmured with her gaze slightly downcast, though that was not long to last for at then she found herself to be close enough to launch the preemptive strike. She leapt into Beinsel’s unwary form to embrace him with a hug used between far-reaching siblings, a curiosity to those who did not understand that the life of an orphan spans racial background. When they parted, Percifeer uncharacteristically drew back, giving her brother the full attention of the spotlight. Pio also went forth to thank the minstrel for rescuing the group from what may have been accident turned disaster. Beinsel straightened out his blue tunic and with a bright face greeted everyone again.

Miran wondered about the hours so unfortunately wasted between now and the date of finality. Ill luck had taken to visiting the orphanage lately it seemed, spreading itself by riding the many feet that through there traveled frequently. At the thought, the illusionist made a gesture to ward against bad spirits and ill-luck, one that had more superstitious use than arcane significance. It seemed to dawn on Pio also that time would be a foolish resource to be loose with, as he suggested that the reunion continue at the barracks where Grikky could possibly be recruited for some behind the scenes aid.

“I’ve seen enough of the courthouse for today.” began Pio. “I say we see if we can hook up with our brother down in the barracks. What do you all think?”

“To that, you I agree. We may have nearly a week to enact our strategy, but judging by the events of our first day on the job, I find that we want not to assume we have any time to spare,” Miran replies to Pio.

Unfortunately, the recruiting mission found Ormander’s saviors with extra time lost and nothing to show for it but the knowledge that Grikky was unreachable for the next few days. Growing worn of the infuriating nuances and nuisances of the thickly packed city street, the orphans were easily convinced to become customers of the last stop for the day on their schedule, the Freeman’s Way. There, it was promised, would be the locale of the last sibling on their contact list, dear sister Dory, likely with the description ‘sister’ removed so not to imply that she was a member of any clergy.

“What think you? Need I a change of outfit?” Miran throws his arms wide exaggeratedly to show himself off in the rays of the sun during the time when day and night evened out.
“Perhaps a hat to go with the cloak?” he asked, with similar mock pomp and circumstance. In the end, Pio went alone into the armorer alone, Miran having decided in a moment of ambivalent thought that he didn’t want to outshine the others too badly with his sense of fashion that the others were overlooked. Of course the more likely case ran for Beinsel or Percy, but the wizard felt it unnecessary to make too fine a comparison.

Referring to the first paragraph after Grugg decided through much consideration to remove the 'dragon-spit' *gulp* before him. Anyway, regretably 3/4 teachers seem to be possessed of the curious need to punish my absolutely joyous absence to BC over Band Tour, and thus my post will be slightly further delayed until I can successfully conquer the challenges presented to me in the final months of Gr. 12, where everyone knows is the time that teachers look at their calenders and double the homework load to catch up to their schedule.

Same applies to Filthy Theif and Auguries of Destruction, though Reralae knows. It's now late (again on a school night) so I'll be running for a marathonic powernap, making up words in my delerium... words like marathonic for example.

See you Monday, if I can stay awake after the school day immediately following tour.

Ah Shaddap! XD
My backgrounds, if given time to grow, always end up sprawlingly lengthy, but I must confess that I have yet to begin the write up (with Band Tour on Wednesday). I was nearly finished the appearance last week, but the weekend happened and I have finally remembered that I should get to it.

Also, if you're interested Ayrn, I'm sure there is no problem with coming in a tad late. Besides, There is (nearly) bound to be at least one other who also takes their time, regardless whether they have a good reason or not.

Lastly, AAUGH!!! I'll never get enough sleep for Tour at this point, I was supposed to get extra sleep beforehand, not stay up later everyday!!!

Particularly concerning what appears to be either the day of week, or month, though I more stronly suspect the former.
Neulos, Febre, and Tantrus. I would be appreciative ot have a little more information on these names, if you are willing, o DM.

Also, on a related note, I imagine there are a number of us here who would like of an update telling us that the Game info on page 1 has been updated. I accidentally stumbled upon the nuances of goblin society and couldn't help but ask myself how long it had been sitting there beyond my notice. Thanks

You are a devil. That is why.
Or Mayhaps it is to discover what exactly a Linsemptus is? Possibly you just want to play a demon without having the destiny of death by players (Unless you fail at your diplomatic attempts to stop us). Or maybe even it is more complex: possibly you want to give us a look into the life of a Kyton, help us discover his unfortunate childhood, and give us a bit of understanding why a chain devil acts the way he does; The roleplaying roads you may travel are endless in giving us a deeper knowledge, and perhaps even sympathy for the tortured spirit that is housed within a body destined for evil....

... Or maybe you just wanna kill things with chains.

Yeah... That's it...

Come on, post up St. George! XD

Poor jokes aside, I am here to make note of one thing to Brianna; Drakenhorde has never heard of the deity Corellon and to that effect - as far as I can tell - has never heard of any deity. The Dragon protector of the elves, Sucurion, though be he dead, is a possible substitute.

Now so as not to appear the factual hypocrit, I'm off to remedy the fact that Sucurion Elves are actually a bit taller than a human.

Also proving myself, I just mistakenly posted this in the Game thread

As Eskalios beckoned the adopted elf, Cyrus chose avert his gaze, so as to not appear to be prying. In reality, the make of the tower, like all buildings in the city, amplified sound, so he could almost hear, if not make out the words. When it seemed that the private exchange ended, Cyrus looked back, just intime to see Draygo'Solarr three paces away and approaching quickly. Whatever he was about to say was cut off at the elf's gesture for silence.

“Welcome friend Cyrus,” declared the young Golden Dragon Shaman as he raised his voice with an uncharacteristic enthusiasm, while extending his arms wide to embrace Cyrus in a bond of equal acceptance as he approached his new comrade with deliberate, swift and graceful steps. “This is but a menial task that no true Skoarn need sully himself with when there be ones such as ourselves of a lesser station who are much more suited for such dirty work.”

Cyrus soon found himself locked in a firm embrace, which stunned him for a moment. He guessed this gesture was perhaps more common in these areas than they were in the Dragon's Horn. Draygo'Solarr's voice secretivly swept into Cyrus' ear, “You and I are the only ones Eskalios can trust ... beware my friend ... even the walls have ears!” Berodimen were rather short among other men, which by measure next to an elf was yet more belittling. He squeezed back, belying strength uncommon for one of his stature, and status as an arcanist.

If the return gesture didn't clarify his understanding, Cyrus whispered under his breath, confident that the elf could hear him easily, "Thank-you." He then raised his voice slightly compared to his last aloud statement. "A menial task indeed? Well I knew when I agreed that my services would be used as such."

He looked back to Eskalios as he released Drago'Solarr from his grip. He said nothing yet, considering it best to react to an act rather than try to create his own in a city where a slipped tongue soon meant a missing one.

Miran peered through the crowd, looking for his sister, Llammoth. He hoped that no one in the mob paid attention to him too much, for there was the possibility that one of them might recognize the one who joined the horse woman as she walked down the path born of chaos. He heard Llammoth’s voice and whipped around to find its sourse, instead realizing that he had been engaged in conversation with her.

“So, what are we to do now? Suddenly this whole thing is becoming a frugal effort. Now we are down two, and by the looks of things, they may be gone for quite some time." He nearly jumped to discover the one he sought had found him instead.

“Well…,” he began. He paused to consider the situation, “I don’t see how either Pio or Percifeer could get into the courthouse again without being recognized. Even I run the risk of being noticed a second time. I suppose there is a chance that Bensiel’s newfound fame could either help or hinder him if he tried to help, which reminds me, do you think Ormander sent him after us? To tell you the truth sister, I was looking for you to ask the same question.”

I wonder how long they'll be held? Miran thought to himself. Perhaps their time would be better spent visiting either the Barracks or the Freeman's Way, rather than waiting for their siblings?

(OOC: Tag Llammoth's potential response, and possibly Bensiel's departure from the spotlight, depending on how enamored the crowd has become)

It turned out that they needn't wait long, for both Percy and Pio had been dealt with quickly and let out, thanks to the commotion that had been going on since even before the orphans arrived.

Subject: Cyrus

Cyrus listened to the mighty Golden Dragon Shaman, in wonder of the natural beauty and majesty that ran in his skoarn blood. Merely a portion of the vibrance of that of any of the True Dragons, he guessed, held rapt by the notion of what a real one would have looked like.

He had regarded everyone of the Skoarn in this manner when he first came to Slith Sagonissra, held in wonder. He was chased away on at least one occasion for staring at an irritable red skoarn. He eventually discovered, through prolonged exposure, that not all of these demi-draconic men were quite deserving of such praise. Oftentimes he felt at home enough among the squabbling, bickering creatures that could at times grow more hysterical over lesser details than an igloo full of Berodimen elders.

In spite of this soon discovered perspective, there still existed a number of the Skoarn who did justice to their noble cousins. One of these such was the specimen before him, immediately next to Cyrus' first elf. He seemed to the eyes to be a pupil of the great Eskalios, marking him of one of righteous stength and courage.

The elder dragon shaman seemed to read the man’s mind, “This,” he said, in a masterful draconic voice, “is my adopted son, Draygo’Solarr.”

“Greetings, friend of the old world, today, we shall bring to light a coming darkness.” The elf's words were strange, but sure enough their meaning would be revealed. I wonder if all Elves like to speak in fluid riddles. Or perhaps it is because of his adopted parentage? Cyrus thought privately, or at least he hoped it was privately after the apt job Eskalios did.

"It is a pleasure to meet one such as yourself," the Berodiman replied, gripping his wooden staff in both hands and bowing his head to his hosts. Eskalios nodded his head, "Yes... I have a dangerous assignment for you this morning." He looked up, causing Cyrus to do the same, peering up at the thick blackness above. This tower was free of the thick ash that felt to Cyrus as he walked through the city like a blanket of warm snow, save for the lack of the glistening sheen reflected in the sunlight. Not that there was much sunlight to be compared to.

Despite the nature of the scene, there was a beauty to it as well. The rumble of Eskalios' vocals tore Cyrus' blue eyes from the pitch heavens back to the golden Skoarn. In the south are the tar lakes of Sudiglan. Recently there have been disturbing creatures coming from that abyss. What I require of you is this, accompany my son to the tar pits, and collect a sample of the lakes there. I must have it studied, to detect what impurities may be causing these horrid abominations.”

"I would be pleased to accept this mission to repay in part my debt to the Skoan nobles." He said, bowing once again. Truely he would rather be continuing his education in his personal brand of art, but a credit was due to the peaceable nature of his mother, countering the part-silver part-fire blood of his father's line. Besides, he had reached a temporary impasse in his development, so perhaps some field work would do him some good. After all, until this point members of the Brynth family line grew their talents through test against one of the harshest regions of all of Drakenhorde.

(DA) When you spoke of being unable to stand when people thought poorly of you, I find myself kindred to that thought. I always try not to give anyone reason to dislike me, and it bugs me if some one (even a stranger) seems to exhibit signs of looking down on me.

Also, I [would] love to dance, I just have a certain level of stage fright (which makes doing a solo in Band a bit of an adrenaline rush) and I seem to feel like people are watching me. Though of course I have built up the confidence to try to dance anyway, on occasion.

Now to end on two notes that need not be directed at a particularly shady progression to winter;

TRSG, I must agree, and make the amendment of: 'Your little brother and his friends' and add: 'when you are not around.

P 40 of my Players Handbook (3.5) is a little crinkly and 'The Monk' table is a little discolored thanks to one evening when I went to bed early (school next day) and my bro and his friends were still playing D&D (having a day off the next day).

My last note is this: I have seen a small handful of threads that have been ruined by a long standing religious debate (not here at the Inn, or at least, none that I've seen). It is good to rout the potential before it gets going. I'm sure everyone can respect each others' views enough to not argue about it (remember saying #28 ).
[This applies to those who are more spiritual than relgious ^-^]

Why do I get the feeling I made a couple spelling errors?

Whoops, the 8 and the ) turned into a smiley, hehe. Also despite DA's post being gone, my answers still stand)

At a friend's Graduation Ceremony, there were fortune cookies handed out that had sayings on them. One such was pretty much identical to number one here.

Also, I love you Dark Autumn! (Well not really, but you pretty well described my personality)

Also, on point three I have story: Once I was asked by a peer and fellow student (last school semester) what religion I was. "I'm not really sure what to call it." I explained for a moment that I believed in god and celebrated Christmas and such, then he asked me if I went to church, to help me identify which religion I was. Upon telling him that no I did not go to church, he identified that I was not a Christian (he who does go to church, I think). Needless to say I was a tad offended, but it is not in my nature to take offense, so I said nothing. It ended up that another classmate nearby heard him and offered her opinion (essentially the opposite, that church-going mattered not) so they argued a bit while I sat and did my Chem homework.

“Yeah, she killed that boy!"

When these words rose into the air above the crowd and slipped into the eager ears of the mob, Miran faltered. Isn't it a little soon to declare a death? Miran thought, halfway horrified already. Surely if the horse had struck a child it would take a moment to see to hom, then surely another moment to determine that the child had indeed passed away.

But in the rising anger and panic, the illusion-worker and fencer was forced to keep an eye out more for his own head rather than contemplate the matter further. When he paused in his stride, the masses washed around him like a rippling brook, eager with morbid sense to see the dead child with their own eyes, to verify the cry. The people all craned their heads and squeezed in tighter to catch a glimpse of the child's body and to be close enough to participate in the potential mob of the guilty party.

When he realized that he had been lost as another face in the crowd, he took advantage of it to slip through the cracks and seek out Pio's advice in the matter. Of course he admitted to himself that he too wouldn't mind getting a glimmer of the body, to verify it for his own senses.

"Pio!" he shouted at a whisper to get his attention, though something happened back at the center of attention that drew them both away. Their brother Beinsel had shown up and was trying to mitigate the hostilities. The young man had sung a song of healing for the boy, who was seemingly brought back to life from the realms of beyond. Miran was not nearly so easily fooled, being a crafter of deceptive magic for some time. Still, he had to admire the ability of his musical brother, to not only revive the child with his voice, but to use that same strong and confident reasoning to throw a potential mob right off the shoulders of the guardsmen.

Miran sighed in relief as the situation apparantly had died down, but a problem arose quite suddenly again, as Percy tried to throw the attention off her, so that she might escape into the Courthouse to complete their intended task. Miran wished he could pull of an invisibility in an instant as he tried not to be appear accociated with the knight who was thrown on the spotlight. When the city watchman stepped forth to do their duty finally, Miran realized that some of their party would have to straighten things out at the station, so it only served to reason that not everyone be dragged into it.

He whispered to Pio again while the attention of the crowd was scattered. He tried still not to appear to be aquainted as he stepped slowly around Pio, "What do you want the rest of us to do?" He asked. Upon receiving an answer, he would make ever attempt possible to slide back into complete annonimity and seek out his half-orcish sister, another who would have a plan of action by now.

Beautiful plan, really. It just went wrong when dead children very nearly put a stop to it.

I don't actually feed it. I don't have to, for the hapless man who stopped by to clean up the mess fed it himself. I watched while it snuck up on him, so I claim the act completed, waiting to see what it hurks out at the pile of cleaning supplies that the man had been assembling.

As his siblings chewed over the decision whether or not to keep under cover while the day's big event unfolded, Miran weighed the pros and cons of sneaking within with his own cover.

If he were careful, he could easily get into the courthouse under the cover of an Invisibility spell, but on the other hand he would still have to fight through the crowd. Of course there was also the question of what a single mage could do once inside when he returned to a fully visible state.

By the time he had finished his internal struggle he had reached the decision to save his single casting of the spell inquestion for a possible need later that day. He glanced at Percifeer as she detached herself from their older brother Pio. He immediately knew the look within her eyes, the same look that had often in youth meant that later there would come a stern disiplinary talk from Ormander, as often for his participation as not.

He followed several paces behind his sister until she halted and unleashed her magic. He slipped up behind Percifeer, glancing over his shoulder to see who had yet elected to follow this impromptu plan of action. He walked down the freshly created parting of the masses,

"It's always a pleasure to observe your subtle art, sister," he said with hushed tones. Now if only the others would follow up, then they would have a more intimidating presence. That and he doubted his ability to keep Percy from recreating the scene from last night with the cutpurses, with city guardsmen acting out the role this time.

I wouldn't imagine the elves would be excempt from the no-magic problem, even with their own special dragon.

I haven't decided what kind of character I shall have, perhaps more information will help facilitate the process.

By the way, I saw the Killoren in 'Whom Gods Annoy' and I had to applaud you for one particularly moving sentance concerning your impromptu flight minus wings. That was this morning around 9. Later Reralae drew my attention to the bottom of the page and I couldn't believe I had missed it (also, when I first saw said post, I had no idea she was a Killoren) anyway, I'll see you later, having posted for hardly any other reason than to post. *sigh*

All I know is whatever character I make, I want to make them good. As a friend of mine might say, they must be EPIC! (not referring to 20+ levels but to the quality of epicness)

And now I reach the point where I am merely ranting needlessly. Goodnight.
