Subject: Ah crud.

The first time he heard it he hoped he had misheard.
Delivery to Osiris.

Damnit.
The fine, expensive wine remained untouched, as the doctor frowned internally. At least, that's how he would descrbe how he felt at that point.

A quick glance at the captain, as if to remind him of the moratorium he gave a while ago, following problems with the local criminal family.
"...we land on Osiris again, I am NOT leaving the ship, and we are spending as little time there as possible. I got bruised enough this time. Ok?"
"Yeah, yeah, I get it."

Jon seemed to miss the glance entirely, or at least appeared to. So Brian stared into Jason's eyes.

Jason and Brian had spent a lot of time together, despite apparently having little in common, on Destiny, and as such knew each other quite well... or too well, some said.
He gave him one of those looks that had developed during their time playing Belote, an onld, defunkt French card game, together, the sort of look that said a thousand words.

The stare said it all. Osiris? What??

The captain took a couple of steps forward, spotting the two unconscious guards he was searching for, behind the desk.
"Ah, I didn't see them there. The Old Temple? I have never heard of such a place, would your knowledge be something to do with your... strange appearance? This is a day of strange occurences... But you are quite correct, the training yard is walled but the sky is open, and you will probably be using some quite visible magic."

A moment of contemplation, and the captain frowned, "The nobles have a duel arena specifically for private duels, seeing as they kept that tradition much more that the rest of Tithuana."

Sorry, all, it hadn't occurred to me that the characters DID know each other quite well, and could probably perform that kinda telepathic communication that can only be done by people who know each other that well.

I'm gonna work on a post in a bit. When I can.

The nurse smiled, "Perfectly understandable, sir. A tall, cloaked man with a bow brought them in for you, and he is still here, I think. Would you like me to let him in or do you prefer to go talk to him?"

--------------------

"I'm sorry about that, two to 1 or 6 to 1, they should know better than to accost a Seeker. There is no permanent damage, except maybe to their pride."

"Understandable. You hear that, you should fight better," he added with a perfectly innocent grin.
That made a change from the almost devilish smirks of before.
"Might I enquire as to where you left Aaron and Leonard? I hope you didn't leave them in too much of a mess..."

... I was thinking some stuff, but decided not to type it up here, because that's metagaming in my book

In this situation, Brian will probably be a bit apprehensive about returning to Osiris :s but will leave the negociations to the people who SHOULD.

I'm gonna wait for a post or two first, before bringing his reactions into play.

Does anyone else's character have the sort of habit of not getting into negociations? This is the moment that we would roleplay

The captain nodded, "I agree totally on the conditions. but would you prefer we duel elsewhere? This is my terrain, and you may be on the lookout for traps or tricks. The backyard of the guardpost has a training area that is empty save some archery targets."

Sorry if it didn't seem obvious.

The line with the break is the ex-tripwire. The crossbow at the end represents the arrow slit and trap behind it.

The thick black lines are the walls. Always.

Yuphart'd finds a set of once-sweaty clothes, a dead man, a bolt stuck in the aforementioned dead man's face, and that's about it.

All are pocketed.

A slight twich of a string as Muhammed advances!

A tripwire!

That was already broken. It seems the corpse had walked right into this simple trap.

The guard captain seemed a little surprised at the presence of Karrain, but quickly got back to his senses.
"Jailbreak?" he shrugged, "If it should be known, I didn't expect that he be the assassin here, at least not intentionally. But no matter."

He strode over to his desk, ignoring the three unconscious bodies, and taking the sheathed sword in hand. "A duel indeed. What conditions do you have?"

The nurse laughed, "Oh, excuse me, I misheard. You'd be unsurprised as to the effects of the clock tower on my hearing," she apologised with a grin.

"He's in the next-door ward, perfectly stable. He'll take a while to recover but he's fine. Why do you ask?"

The two men enter a rectangular room at one end, the door outwards in the far left hand corner.

A small hole, similar shape to that of an arrow slit, is set into the wall before them, and a fresh - days old - male corpse lies before them, clothed, with a crossbow bolt in its head.

Gonna work on a post this weekend, don't worry

The system is quite simple: the Attack and Defense stats are used in combat as a 1d A vs 1d D. If attacker hits, deals 1d A damage.

The classes give various bonuses to Attack and Defense, or spells.

Strength, Agility and Mental are in case of puzzles requiring attributes: 1dx vs a set difficulty class.

I'm gonna update the ruleset soon too (I have loads more changes needed to balance the classes).

EDIT: Initiative increases your place in the turn order, and Stealth covers how hard to detect you are, and how much extra damage you deal if you perform a sneak attack.

Tiamat, you DO have one spell. Blinding Flash, look it up in your character sheet.
