Topic: The Bleeding Lute Q&A : Where everybody knows your name
Subject: Heh

I have indeed got a full epic-scale adventure ready, if required. If we don't want to go that big, it can be scaled down

The OCD part of me is wanting to ask you, zerowulf, if I can control the Adventures thread. Yes, I'm the kind of person who wants to organise such a thing by named "chapters" and "acts" :p

Don't worry. I don't know about the rest of you, but I've got a few pages of info for this adventure

Assal grinned at Moonbeam and Oswald.
"If you're wanting to come along, we can leave in the morning. Depending on Tralen's hangover, of course. Does the sweet call of adventure tempt you? Or do the dangers outweigh the rewards?"

I've tried, but it just doesn't want to be written. Assal is waiting on Oswald.

This is almost comic. Is Assal an adventurer-magnet?

So we seem to be gathering a warrior, a bard, a paladin and a cleric. Balanced much?

"I hear you are going on an adventure."

"Good evening to you," Assal responded, taking the last step down into the room. He briefly scanned it, taking note of the childlike woman at the bar who seemed of more interest than the other patrons, then his gaze found its way back to Oswald.
"We are indeed in search of adventure, questing to retrieve a lost sword, and to deliver justice to a brigand. Company is always welcome on the open road.
"Assal," he said, extending a hand, "My companion here is Aquascales, paladin of Bahamut; the bard Tralen is a little... indisposed."

Hello and welcome to the Inn! Keep that towel close at hand, you'll need it.

For the record, I'm currently about to GM a rules-light homebrew game (Wanderlust) and it looks like a game is starting up from the Bleeding Lute.

Finding a game is quite easy here at the Inn, and I'm sure you'll quickly get snaffled up

There's no harm in a sociopathic character... only problem is that RPing is all about social interaction

Assal, Tralen and Aquascales are probably going to split off into an adventure at some point soon, so the Inn shall lose some inhabitants.

That doesn't mean that no new blood can join

"I shall accompany you, if t'is not too much trouble," Assal replied as he gently lowered Tralen onto the bed in the correct room, before the kobold and man headed downstairs.
"I am new to these parts, but it seems that Athera is an ancient town, now fallen into ruin, and a common hiding-place of brigands and bandits. My and Tralen's journey will not be an easy one," he finished with a smile.

There is magic. However the system is going to be different from the given standard.
Also, remember that your character won't know who he/she was.

" Iwas going to continue a conversation with him, but I didn't want to interrupt you."

Assal laughed in response, "You are unlikely to find him very conversational at this moment, friend! Though I am sure that once he has awoken and sobered up, he will also be glad of the company on our journey!"

He extended a hand to the kobold, "Assal Browncloak is my name, and it is a pleasure to meet you."

" So you're heading to Athera right? That's where I'm heading too. Would it be okay for me to accompany you?"

Assal took the hand gratefully, and got to his feet slowly and deliberately, as if he no longer trusted the stability of his legs - or lack thereof. He left Tralen where he lay for now, and turned to the kobold with a smile.

"I don't know how or where you heard of us travelling to Athera, but whatever the case, company on the road would be most welcome. What path do you follow that would require passing by Athera, if I may ask?"

Assal nodded once again at the woman as he picked himself up, gently sniggering at his own misfortune. He paused briefy to scan the papers he'd slipped on, which he was sure hadn't been there beforehand, and his fingers drifted to pass the parchment into his belt to be dealt with later; such a task would be en route, and would serve as a good preparation for the trial itself. He stepped through the doorw-

- yes, you guessed it, walked into a kobold Paladin of Bahamut. The bald warrior and his unconscious bard fell to the floor in a crash of armour and instruments, Assal yelping as he went.

From the floor he grinned whilst groaning, "Worst. Day. Ever."

You might need to do that sooner rather than later, as it seems that Tralen and Assal are planning on leaving in the morning.

Assal was very quickly aware of the sword at his neck, and even as Tralen spouted drunken gibberish, he slowly but surely reached backwards to his spear to detach it from its shoulder strap and lower it to the floor.
"I mean you no harm. I appear to have the wrong room," he added as he noticed the lost metal 1 on the floor, "If you would be so willing, I shall leave and take my companion with me, and if so required I shall repay you for any harm suffered."
As the blade was removed from his neck, nonetheless kept at the ready, Assal slowly re-attached the spear, before roughly picking Tralen up again and leaving the room.

Parchment pressed onto floor can give quite a fair amount of friction. Parchment pressed onto parchment does not. Assal and Tralen fell to the floor with an almighty CRASH! and the three sheets of paper went flying.

Assal grinned and downed the rest of his drink, then turned to Maria to get two rooms for the night, as Tralen wasn't going anywhere any time soon.

With little effort, he hauled the half-orc onto his shoulders and set off for rooms 1 and 2 on the third floor of the Inn.

He nodded as he passed a couple on the second floor, and soon arrived at the door labelled with an ornate metal 2. He tried the door, and found it was locked. He lowered the bard to the floor and tried the key he had been given, and the lock clicked open.

Without paying attention, Assal shoved the door open and tossed the bard onto the bed... without noticing the ornate metal 1 that had dropped to the floor from where it once hung on the door beside the 2, nor the chest he'd shoved as he'd pushed the door open.

Nor did he notice the previous occupant of the bed in room 12, the cloaked woman from before, and now found himself with a sword at his throat.
