Red is a misunderstood colour, with many negative connotations.

Rum or Cuchaça?

Whatever the character wants... which REALLY means, whatever the character is wearing when they first arrive on the island.

Anyone interested, fill in a very simple character sheet, for part one of the preparations.

Name:
Age:
Appearance: one set of clothes is given.

The other basic info, like character likes and dislikes, can be done on the fly when playing

Er, and that's it, I think.

Apparently in France the tradition is to give thanks to teachers, via 5 exams lasting all day.

Fun

Is it insane to call oneself insane?
If one is capable of detecting one's own insanity, is it really insanity, or is it sanity?
Then again, one would have to be insane to believe that they are in any way sane.

In other words, the thought going through my mind?

I'm soaring over London in a huge 17th century battleship, wearing a dark green trenchcoat and a brown pork-pie hat, fingerless mittens and black trousers.
In my left hand, open-palm, a fireball. In my right, a freshly-mixed mojito.

Lightning strikes in the background, and I laugh a maniac laugh, as I sip my drink and launch the fireball toward the sky.

Topic: "Duende" System (new)
Subject: Well

I've sorta given up on the PHB idea.
But a quick description of system:

Everything is based on 8 attributes, with d20.
Strength, Toughness, Agility, Finesse, Force, Will, Perception and Charisma.
They all do exactly what you think they do (well, Force refers to magical and mental offense and power, and Will refers to mental and magical defence and strength. Compare Force and Will to petrol and diesel: petrol allows a lot of speed and acceleration. But there's a reason that machinery-pulling vehicles use diesel, namely for the actual pulling-power.)

Characters also have Skillsets, which add bonuses to the Attributes. (for example, someone skilled at lying will get a bonus to Charisma-based lying rolls, and a bonus to Perception-based lie detection rolls. Takes one to know one . In the same way, a fighter would have bonuses to damage-related Strength rolls, to-hit Agility rolls, etc...)

The rolls are worked out on a table I've made: the task is given a difficulty rating on the y axis, and the Attribute numbers are on the x axis. The xy result is the number needed on the d20.
This system is used for everything from hitting someone with a sword to falling off a building and diving into a roll to remove the force of the impact. The idea is to simplify as much as possible whilst keeping complexity.

It's always annoying that the times during which one has the best ideas for games are also the times when recruitment would be slowest

But on the bright side... I now have an awesome game idea! The world needs a little bit of extra development, and "maps" being made (MS Paint ) but now I'm really enthused by this

Oh, and I need an awesome, short name for the system...

(I'm using far too many smileys... something must be wrong.)

Subject: Duende System (new)

Yes yes, yet another homebrew system from Darren, a remake of my original Footprints system and gameworld.

But this time... it's harder.
It's better.
It's faster.
And it's stronger.
(I've always wanted to type that.)

I'm working on it currently. Oh, and is anyone who is any way artisticly competent looking for some little work to do? *pleading puppy-eyes*
(I'm intending on typing it up in a pseudo-PHB manner, with some little bits of art to make it interesting ^^)

UPDATE: not that anyone will probably care but all the basic info is set in stone, and all I need to do is work on the form.
