... and if any of you know anyone who's wanting to get into roleplaying but is either lacking experience and/or not ready to get into a big, long, epic RP, they're most definately welcome here ^^

The corner of a smile appeared.
The captain was almost smiling, "I'll take that down as a threat, then, shall I? I'd like to just make it known to you that I don't like being blackmailed."

He stood up and began pacing the office, "You ask for proof of my accusations? From all appearances this friend of yours just jumped off a room and ran the Councillor through with a sword. If that isn't assassination for you, I recommend that you wait until the case goes to court."

Sorry, I'll get on making a map for ya.

The scream is completely non-descript, too quiet to be perceived.

And as far as you both know, the roar and scream both come from the same direction, that is, from that right-hand direction. I tell you all you know.

The guard captain frowned, "Your story is flawed. Why would An'Jantar hire your band of misfits - no offence meant - rather than simply trusting the city guard? Your summary tells me that you only succeeded in saving the councillor for Magic due to pure luck. Other than that, we have a severely burnt assassin, a disappearing mage, and a group of mercenaries who HAPPENED to turn up to join in with this."

Bon replied quite simply, "Varis should be fine, I can guarantee nothing for Thomas. He was locked up for apparently killing the councillor for Magic who appears to be alive. Thomas is probably in a bad state, but the prison guards won't let him get any worse, I guess."

A glance at Karrain and the councillor for War began, "Our guard captain is quite... zealous. Good luck getting him to give up your friend."

State of the councillors:

-An-Jantar, Library: sat down on a chair, thinking.
-An'Inglefar, Magic: in the clinic.
-An' ? , War: talking to you.

Any others are dead or still in their box. See the Info thread.

As if on cue, a loud roar echoed down the corridors, with that characteristic muffledness that roars from deep, deep down underground seem to have, seemingly coming from the right-hand doorway.

Following it, many seconds after, came a gust of wind that chilled them to the bone, coming from the right doorway.

Moments later, a barely audible scream came from the same direction. Unmistakeably a scream. Too quiet to be discerned as being male or female, but definately human.

Bon looked to DHarem, "Varis was just carried off to a clinic, and Thomas appears to be in prison."

"We're down to us three at the moment. What happened to that mage? Didn't you have him?"

The councillor stared at DHarem, "You're a fairly interesting group..."

The voice sounded concerned, "I have some distilled Shrum essence here, if you wish some help."

Shrums were renowned for their light soporific effects. But when they were stewed and distilled, they could almost literally knock someone down in seconds. Its only impracticality as a poison, of course, is that it's an almost perfect liquid.
This had never stopped it being used as a non-lethal poison and, in this case, a form of remedy. It tended to be very useful in cases of surgery.

The voice left a pause, then continued, "We brought you here a few minutes ago, and that you're awake is quite surprising. The councillor is stable, but weak, and we're working on him."

Another brief pause.

"I have a plate of food for you. Do you want anything, sir?"

Like most people taking to the skies in that time following the Unification War, Brian Davidson was on the run.
Not from past but from family connections. Mafia wars tend to spill across entire families, the non-combatants tending to be the most targeted.
Has a medical degree, and much experience in fixing people up, but prefers to remain neutral in any conflict. During the War, he was an ambulance pilot and doctor on Osiris for a humanitarian association. Everyone got fixed up, no matter what side.

Quite composed and calm, has a general blasé attitude to everything. Sometimes this may scare people having gone under his scalpel, but then again HE's the doctor, not them, so they probably trust him on that.
Another thing that tends to scare people is that he's very truthful, too much so in fact. If someone only has one chance in twenty of surviving the necessary surgery, he'll say it.

((OOC: Sorry in advance for 1) short post, 2) still not having sent the character sheet in yet, I'm really struggling, and 3) inactivity))

The rucksack seemed to weigh nothing at all.

Leaving his home and profession to venture into the wide world had been one of Garban's greater decisions.

He had packed the rucksack with all he had when he left, mainly sentimental items of no value, pebbles of various shapes and sizes, yet despite the weight they felt light.

It was most definately a good idea. It would probably let him make some money, whilst allowing him to follow his lifelong dream of becoming a bard. No-one ever gets good tales to tell by staying sat on their rear, drinking ale.

His studded leather armour was also in the rucksack, but his spear and shield strapped to his back, as he slipped into the Morning Breeze and began searching for his companions amongst the brouhaha, struggling, and hoping for one to notice him and wave.

< Noticing isn't my strong point >, he thought with a grin.

Not long after Varis spoke, someone entered the room.
The smell of Spice soon followed, along with that of medium-rare Fluff meat, and the air flow that followed the entrance of the person drew the smells closer to the bedridden mercenary.

The sound of barefeet on the wooden planks, barely perceptible, but there. The light *chunk* as porcelain was placed onto wood, and the cheery, light-hearted "Hello!" that followed. Female voice, obviously quite young and almost naïve-sounding, yet with that slight, characteristic fleck of experience often found in medical professionals.

"You're in the Scarlet Clinic, sir," piped up the voice once more.

You say that, but most games end that way, even the most "scripted" ones. When have the players EVER stuck to the railroads?

I quite like the idea of a classic thing with no particular overriding story. Colour me interested thus far.

On the floor before the two figures, and the one now awake, lay a shortsword and a small note.
The note, written in coal large enough to read at distance, read:

Find the Orb of Cleft, yo

PS: Have fun,

~K

Oh, and posting order: I took your three names in pseudo-random order, then rolled a d3 and d2 to determine order.
