All is falling truly into place... MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Er, not really.
But hey, nice posts y'all. I'm gonna see what answers I can cobble together for you

So, simplifying it for me: essentially a classic Monk, but with a sword and some magic?

Hold up on the actual character creation for now, we'll see if anyone else turns up ^^ I'll start if we can get two players minimum.

So for now we have a (probably) agile, priest swordsperson.

Clockwork, Khan is in the burning building. It's improbable that Karrain can see him, nor DHarem.

It's a homebrew system heavily influenced by 3.0e and 3.5e.
So inspire yourself as much as you wish with any sourcebook from anything ^^

Subject: A cough.

The seemingly lifeless councillor coughed blood. Coughed. Despite being dead.
Life surged back into him, only just alive, hanging on by a thread.

All Varis could feel was numbness. Absence of something. It was clear he had just grossly violated some law of nature, and would probably receive his comeuppance for it. But in the meantime, he had succeeded.

Which left nonetheless the main problem of a burning building with two men trapped inside and three people dying on a stage in front of hundreds of panicking people.

Why do I keep allowing you all dice rolls?

I just gave Varis a dice roll, making the difficulty very hard but nonetheless possible. As in, need a twenty to make it.

Of course, got a twenty. Hate you. Hate you so bad.

Fire flashed in An'Inglefar's eyes as the house suddenly erupted in flames.
"Khan."

Before anyone could do anything, from the rooftop sped a ball of fire. No, not a ball.

"RAAAAAAAARRRRGH!" roared a barely recognisable, burning figure, longsword in hand, landing directly on top of An'Inglefar and running him through with the blade.

The mass collapsed to the floor, the councillor surely dead and the burning figure slowly extinguishing, yet unconscious, nearly dead.

If they were wondering who it was, all doubt was removed: Thomas.

"Hired??" demanded An'Inglefar, "By whom?!"
"I wouldn't worry about that, councillor. We appear to be in capable hands," replied the foreigner.
"Why should we trust unknown help?"
The foreigner stifled laughter, "Because we appear to be under attack by a certain Khan figure. Would you kindly tell us who he is?"
"Khan..." the Councillor for Magic growled, before setting out towards the semi-wrecked building and raising his arms to the sky in a dramatic pose...

The rooftop shook just as a fireball sped towards the mage.
But the mage, and DHarem, were totally unscathed by the said fireball, which rocketed far over their heads, the rooftop collapsing.

Rubble fell in around them, as the builder of the house obviously hadn't prepared for that much force to strike the roof. Rain doesn't tend to be that powerful. Seekers, however, do.

Khan yelled in agony as dust rose up from the room. They'd both fallen into the top floor, a bedroom, rubble everywhere.

DHarem could hear yells coming from outside, but was too shell-shocked to make it out.

Subject: Footprints: Digging Too Deep Recruitment

Hey!

I had an idea for another game using my Footprints system and world, and thought that it's be interesting to run two games in parallel with possible interactions between the two.
I won't hide that all of the information below is copy-pasted from my other Recruitment thread, but it is probably better to read through what has happened in Corruption in Tithuana so far, to get a feel of the world.

Anyone is welcome!

-------------------------

Here is a simple, basic description of the world:

The Lords were being of great power, who journeyed the universe. Most of their energy was devoted to their journeys. Spotting from afar a barren rock with a core of magical energy, they decided to stop and use it as an anchor at the most powerful Lady's suggestion, giving the name Anchor. They linked their realm, named Vessel, to Anchor with four magical lines descending straight to the core.
Now the Lords were able to create. And they did, creating first two towers of light, named Nest and Mast, the first of a yellow light and the second deep blue-white, the one waxing while the other waned in an eternal cycle.
Around the tower of Mast they built their halls, before turning their joint power to create the Gods, lesser beings in their own image.
The Lords retreated to their halls, wishing to see what these beings would do with their autonomy.
The Gods created as they once were, and the Vesselan people came into existence, then grass and the Root plant for their nutrition. However, most of the Gods did not wish to remain observers, and they created lands and kingdoms on the lower part of Vessel, between Mast and Nest, on the plains of Deck, and pitted the Vesselans against each other in great wars.
But the Vesselans rose up and demanded an end to this. The Vesselan people split, into Deckies and Masties, the first group continuing the glorious, endless war, and the second building a city around the halls of the Lords.

But the Lords hadn't noticed the consequences of their magical Lines linking Vessel to Anchor: around the Lines, where once was rocky, barren desert now lay fertile lands, many creatures and the Anchoran people. The Anchorans knew of the presence of other beings, who they saw as divinities, but the inhabitants of Vessel were ignorant of the Anchorans. An Anchoran man of great power, by the name of Dangine, decided to make his voice heard following the unjust death of his family, and lifted his village from the ground, guiding it along a magical Line to halfway between Anchor and Vessel, before commiting suicide. This floating island was named Dinghy in memory of Dangine, and it became the town for diplomacy between Anchor and Vessel.

This was many years ago. Since then, the whole world has had a common language, unnamed due to its unilateral use. (An underground realm was discovered, named the Depths, but I shall not mention it too much.)

Now, around the four magic Lines: the city-state of Tithuana, a realm whose culture is based on knowledge, with a nearby Deckie campsite; the once-great city of Ethrona which lies now in ruins (due to the king insulting a Depthian prince) and is controlled by bandit gangs, and nearby the town of New Ethrona composed of the survivors; a cordial agreement of many small kingdoms inculding Maringa and Smythia; an ancient town, Ronthara, now in constant war between breakaway New Ethronans and Smythians.

-------------------------

Magic is split into three forms: magic from Within, practiced by those known as Sorcerors, tapping into energy within themselves to perform almost any imaginable task; magic from Beyond, devout followers of Gods, Lords or even principles who can petition their benefactor to give them power for a single purpose; magic from Without, practiced by Mages, who draw from the residual magic around them and bind it with runes and rituals from long ago. Compared to Sorcerors they are less versatile but more powerful as their magic is not limited. They tend to use natural components to reinforce their rituals.

-------------------------
THE PLOT:

The players comprise an adventuring party, relatively successful yet unknown. While they were visiting New Ethrona to stock up on gear (and sell some loot) after delving into an ancient mage's ruined tower, a messenger seeked them out. A world-famous adventurer, known as Illin, wishes their help in an excavation of a ruin deep under Ethrona. Ruins under ruins under ruins, it would seem. They have a rendezvous with Illin in a day at the south gates of the old city, ample time to reach it from New Ethrona.

That I'm gonna be slow to post and possibly completely inactive until July due to upcoming exams.

Just an advance warning. If I don't post for a while, assume I'm revising hard and that the game HASN'T fizzled.

The Councillor's Request:
Mercenary work guarding the Knowledge Duel. Why? Unknown.
An'Inglefar was assassinated (and revived) and Khan seemed to be responsible.
But now the RRR have killed An'Inglefar, and Barbant is here to kill An'Jantar. Uh oh.

Barbant is dead, and Thomas too, now.
Khan seems to be the key to all of this.

Equilibriate's Balance:
"The councillor you must defend. When Red attacks, aim for the right arm."
"Beware of the 'sorcerer'. Khan knows."
Khan knows what? Which sorceror?

Red Revolutionary Revolutionism:
REFUSED! Kill all the councillors of Tithuana.
But RRR troops seized and killed An'Inglefar, and hired an assassin to take care of An'Jantar. Though that failed.
They hired Khan to kill An'Inglefar, originally.

Thomas' Capture:
Thomas has been imprisoned due to killing An'Inglefar. On purpose or accidentally. Hmmm.
Trial would have taken place, if not for a jailbreak.
Thomas is back, now.

Another Side of the Story:
Khan told DHarem to visit him in his tower as soon as possible, only with people he can trust.
They were met with a wall of plot exposition.

Another Day, Another Enemy:
The captain of the Central Tithuanan Guardhouse is hostile towards Karrain and DHarem. DHarem is also gradually making more and more enemies among the city guard members. 4 at last count. Could this be a war?
Though DHarem may be making friends with two others.

Blast from the Past:
Varis and DHarem are still subconsciously looking for the man who betrayed them in that old ruin.

Blade of Ranef:
The famous "Blade of Ranef" was stolen a few months ago from the temple of Ranef. Barbant is using it.

Subject: Ooooh, Karrain!

"Pleased to meet you, Karrain," the foreigner bowed, "I would ask about how you can be still alive but to each their secrets. I would nonetheless wish to talk to you sometime over a tankard of ale, if -"
"KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN!" shouted An'Inglefar at the errant mage.
"An'Inglefar... it is a shame you had to bring it to this."
Khan gave a quick hand gesture and the air in front of DHarem quivered slightly, turning to a transparent, glass-like wall.
The magic councillor left no further ado, and threw himself into the fray. Figuratively, yes, but the giant boulder that had materialised just above Khan was real, alright.

A quick ritual and a blue, shimmering shield appeared around the mage, and the boulder shattered into tiny particles on impact, that blew away in the wind like dust.

Meanwhile, Thomas was clambering up the building from the back as quickly as his platemail armour could allow.

[1d20+2 vs DC8 = 11 > 8! Figure spotted.]
[1d20+6 vs 1d20+1 = 16 < 21! Attack failed.]

DHarem's leap attack was perfectly aimed...
Shame that the figure shuffled to the side, more through luck than much else, the invisibility disappearing, revealing a mage dressed in elaborate sage-green garb, a classical mage's robe.

DHarem landed perfectly despite the miss, whirling quickly enough to face the mage.

That was the moment the mage knew he was outmatched.

Slightly taller, tall enough that if the figure hadn't been invisible, DHarem would still not have noticed them.

For him it'll be simple to clamber up, and when he's up there he'll easily be able to detect the mage, due to air flow and smoke from the stuff he's burning for the rituals.

Openly Friendly:
An'Jantar: Tithuanan Councillor for Knowledge. Paid the party 2500ep for this job. Varis knows him.

Equilibriate: Wore a glass mask, and brown cloak. Gave the party a "no magic" pebble, along with cryptic advice about "Red".

Foreigner: Mysterious man, unknown to all, yet is amazingly knowledgeable.

Aaron and Leonard: Guards. Helped DHarem. "Owes them a drink" apparently.

Unknown/Neutral (for now):

An'Tarask: Councillor for Defence. Respectful of Karrain. Offered him a job.

An'Jonesy: Councillor for Commerce.

An'Corent: Councillor for City.

Khan!: Found on a roof, invisible, by DHarem, Bon and Karrain. Hated An'Inglefar. Powerful mage.

Clawsbane: Famous adventurer, mega famous.

Openly Hostile:

RRR Man: Offered 11000ep for the death of all of the councillors. He attacked and then ran away, after having An'Inglefar killed.

Guard Captain: Took offence at Karrain's comments, and is VERY hostile. Is getting angry towards DHarem, too.

Dead:

An'Inglefar: Councillor for Magic, is very appreciated in Tithuana. Rivalry with Khan. Killed by Thomas, but resurrected by Varis (WTF). Killed again by the RRR.

An'Irinar: Councillor for Arts, died in a fire at her manor, quite recently. Elections for successor are to happen in a few months.

RRR "Nurses": six "nurses"... wearing armour and weapons, seemingly from Smythia. All dead, but they killed An'Inglefar. Members of the RRR.

Barbant: famous badass assassin. "When 'Red' attacks, aim for the right arm." DUH! "Red" IS Barbant!
