Yeah, more liberties here.

I don't know why, Mysterion, but I can imagine Ken having this kind of reaction. it just fits him like a glove in my view.

We’ll talk on ship.

Brian returned a final look of acknowledgement, a form of "Roger that".
He smiled as he remembered how they first properly met.

Brian Davidson, doctor, and since recently ship's medic.
Naturally, it's the doctors who have the worst medical problems, and he had gotten some light illness of some form which had left him with insomnia for a few nights, preventing him from sleeping as early as he liked to.
He got out of bed, absolutely shattered, and dragged himself up to see what was happening on-ship. They would, of course, be awake and doing something or other, the crew.

He arrived in the "D-fac", as they called it (he didn't really see why it was called that, but anywho...) to find Tess, Ken and... Jonas, was it? ... playing poker.

He nodded at them as they stayed stoic, as the game demanded, and they responded. As they finished that hand (which Tess won, incidentally), Brian raised an eyebrow and asked the question.
"What's with the five cards in the middle?"
Ken had looked at him in scandal, and Tess explained, "Texas Hold'em."
"I've heard of it... only ever played Five Card."
Ken seemed relieved that Brian at least knew how to play SOME form of poker.
"Doc, the game really is simple," Jason had said, before taking yet another swig from his ever-full flask of what could be called oh-my-god-that-tastes-like-fire.
To be fair, it DID taste like fire.

"I’ll tell you what Doc. I’ll teach you to play Texas Hold’em and you can teach me how to use some of that medical gear in the infirmary," Jason had suggested. "After all you never know when you’ll need a medic. I’m not suggesting you teach me anything complicated just some basic field medicine. 'Penny' poker only, guys. Looks like it’s time to teach the Doc to play some cards."

Brian grinned at the prospect, and sat down at an empty chair as they began to deal the cards out and hand over a few chips.

That poker episode ended in more scandal as Brian confessed that he didn't see the point of the Little and Big Blinds.
Ken was shocked for weeks afterwards.

Subject: Well

1. Why not?
Lack of inspiration at the moment.
2. Would more time help?
Not really
3. Is it the material? Would a different contest be more receptive?
Possibly. I can't really say.

Subject: So, these "Knights"

The Knights of New Smythia are, as the name suggests, an order of knights who are a part of the New Smythian forces. Separate from the actual army, they are nonetheless a formidable part.

It is said that the Knights are elite troops, but the most elite among them are recruited into the New Smythian Task Forces. Basically, special ops.

This should surprise everyone, because... well, if they ARE Knights or Task Force troops, what are they doing here? If not, why do these "medics" march exactly like that (seeing as they're medics in Tithuana)?

Varis may not be wrong by mentioning that some worked for a noble house. If he's right, it'd make sense that these ones be educated, as they're in Tithuana and therefore will have had contact with knowledge.

NOTE: Tithuana and New Smythia are quite far away, and the inhabitants of the second have much more pressing matters, such as a WAR! Without wishing to generalise, New Smythians like killing people. Not helping.

I have two options: either antagonist or protagonist.

Trust me, you'll have fun as the antagonist of the moment. After then, you can probably join the good guys anyway

In the clinic, it became apparent to the group - naturally, as the procession was quite big - that the Councillor was being moved to another clinic.

Five Scarlet nurses, three male and two female, accompanied the six people dressed in similar garb, who were carrying a stretcher with the the Magic Councillor, to the main door, discussing the various details and medical information.

-----------------------------------

The Sacrelarch was dashing round a corner, where he knew the Academy had once been. City geography changes very little, even over thousands of years, so he knew it should be there.

Housing developments.

But he could feel the energy pulsing in the air, the pure... magic! that once coursed through the very soul of the Academy.
An old, weathered statue in the centre of the housing estate drew his mind's eye. That was where the magical energy was pulsing from. He recognised the magical swirls and movements of that area as being where the Inner Sanctum of the College once was.

As Varis made his way down the corridor towards the main hall, Bon caught up with him with a bizarre smile.
Bon wasn't particularly a smiling sort of person.

Meh.
He nodded at Varis, and led him towards the main desk, silently.

Meanwhile...
“I am seeking a friend of mine. Varis, he was brought in along with the wounded Councillor I believe. If he is alright I would like to see him please.”

The receptionist frowned, "We don't tend to work on names, as most of our patients are unconscious on arrival. Unlike the private clinics found elsewhere, here at the Scarlet Clinic we treat whomever may come to us with an ailment."

She looked through some documents on the desk, and picked up a Runner quill pen, ticking off a few boxes down the way.
"He should be in room A34. Down that corridor to the left, you should find it very easily."

Then Bon and Varis arrived at the desk. Bon grinned from ear to ear. Quite unnervingly.

That guy... he's kinda tied up with exams.

Sorry, but updates will be slow until about the end of June. One per week, at max. I apologise muchly.

After that it'll be fine, though.

The group enter the clinic with a simple exterior, on the main square. The Scarlet Clinic.

They find before themselves - through a big, open doorway (to facilitate passage of patients) - a big, entrance hall area. A desk with a smiling, smartly-dressed woman sat directly before them, and two hallways on either side.

A sort of long bench lined the walls, and a small area was walled off with waist-high walls and a gap for passage, where they could see a group of emergency medics eating a meal. A few people were sat on the bench, seemingly waiting for something or someone.

One of them was familiar.
Bon was sat on the bench, with a couple of bags, presumably Varis' stuff. He nodded stoicly.

Suddenly, Thomas coughed loudly, spluttering a little.

I think most GMs are like that Tann: stick to the 1/week minimum as convention, but of course are happy with more ^^

Topic: She is no longer lost, but looking for a good time.
Subject: Well

Celtia has already answered everything, and plugged my game for me (thanks ^^) but here are some concise answers.

1. Most rule-based games here are just like playing in a freeform game, but with the results of the characters' actions intentionally left open, for the GM to give the go-through to or not.
Tabletop:
"John aims for the Troll's jugular."
"Yeah, that's a natural 20. Double damage too."
"Sweeeeeeeet."

could translate to Forum:
"John swings at the Troll's jugular, before taking a backstep in case he misses."
"*insert die roll here* The troll is thrown back, blood spraying everywhere... etc"

2. One or two posts a day is a LOT. Most GMs set a minimum of once per week. No worries on that front!

The Spanish youth appears to be restless: would it be due to disillusionment about voting (which appears to be pointless) and a 40% unemployment rate?

Yes.

And moments later, the sound of snoring. Deeper than a human's snore. Both sounds seem to echo down from the unexplored hallway.

The guard captain nodded, "I'm glad you suggested that, Seeker. With this affair I'm needed to reassure the populace that we are on the lookout... At least, going to step up to it. I fear that tomorrow isn't a good plan either... would you mind if it were in a tenday? Meet here in nine days to schedule this duel."
