Subject: Dang it!

You know, it thought that was the case... that there was a door leading out of the cell room. Blast!

Alright, so fellow players I'm interested in sorting out where we should go from here. Some notes:

1) We got Death Brigade Baddies knocking down the store room door.

2) We are currently stuck in a tomb with the only visible way out leading back to the store room.

3) Our main goal is to find the captives and set them free, in particular the girl with the cure. I doubt she's in the crypt.

So... do we:

1) Explore this room, using time to figure out what this tomb is about, looking for a not-obvious doorway out of the room, and maybe raid the place of any information/treasures we might find? If we stay here, we risk the baddies breaking down the door and trapping us in this crypt with no way out... a little forboding. All they need to do (really) is close the door at the end of the corridor and lock us in and starve us to death.

2) Go back quickly, head through the door in the cell room and pursue our main goal in a more logical manner? I say "logical" only because it doesn't seem at first glance that this crypt is going to further our goal. It's possible that this leaves us more out in the open, and its possible we'll be facing enemies on both sides (from the store room and from the other side of the cell door).

3) Other options? Name 'em if you see them.

Chime in and let talk about this (briefly).

RP-wise, Tobias is in favour of getting out of this tomb and heading through the cell room door. At the very least, if the group decides to stay in the crypt to explore, Tobias will head back down the corridor and keep watch on the store room door (from within the corridor).

What do you all want to do?

Subject: 2 questions

Tek,
Two questions:
1) After Tobias, Krev, and Nick barricade the door, you wrote something along the lines of "...that left them with just two paths..." I know one path led us to the crypt, but what/where was the second path? The doorway the led to the cell?
2) Is there another (obvious) way other of the crypt besides the way we came in?
Thanks!
Scott

Raslan (Gutter Folk)

+2 Dexterity, +2 Wisdom: Nimble, like their burrow-dwelling cousins, Raslan also develop inherent street-smarts that allow them to make the most of any situation.
-2 Strength, -4 Charisma: The small stature of a Raslan makes it more difficult to build muscle, and due to their notorious lifestyle in the underworld of the city, are generally hated and mistrusted by most.
+2 Hide, +2 Sense Motive, +2 Survival (Urbanized Area): The need to survive in a world seemingly against them provides Raslan with the grit and determination it takes to get by in an environment in which information and craftiness generally paves the road.
+4 Disguise: Due to the sacrifice of their larger feet, Raslan are much more capable of fitting in with crowds of humans. Without the stand-out signature that Halflings possess, it makes it much easier to blend in with the appearance of being an orphan or street urchin.
+2 bonus to checks made to resist intimidation, extortion, and bullying.
Small Size: All size benefits and penalties apply as normal.
+1 bonus with thrown weapons: Generally the easiest way to make use of a concealed weapon is to hurl it altogether and rid oneself of the evidence.
Base speed is 15 feet, due to footbinding. This is overcome when a Raslan reaches level three.
Mistrust
Thanks do their dubious, underhanding nature in the streets of cities all over the world, Raslan are mistrusted by just about anybody who has encountered one. Rumours of being mobbed by groups of them and finding oneself missing just about everything of value circulate groups, and thanks to this, Raslan area often targeted by authoritative figures if they are seen possessing just about any amount of material property of apparent value.
Footbinding
In order to make themselves fit into society a bit better, Raslan bind their feet at an early age, crushing the bones to make them a more ‘humanlike’ size. This improves their ability to blend in among humans much easier without the need for costuming or the like, but as such decreases their movement rate (Until they learn to overcome the handicap) and at the same time strips their nimble benefits that their burrow cousins possess. Raslan dexterity favours the hands, not the feet.
Always another way…
In a world where just about every scale is tipped against them, Raslan learn to adapt to the situations they encounter better than most other races do. Because of this, a Raslan may take Bluff, Diplomacy, Disguise, Gather Information, and Intimidate checks against their Wisdom score, depending more on street smarts than social skills to get them through a tight spot.

Tann,

Let me be the first of the staff folk to say, I'm glad you're back, at least to lurk! I am glad that you've also got some awesome friends close-by looking after and out for you! You are a blessed man for sure!

Here's to you, friend! To your health! To a quick and accurate diagnosis to what's going on! And to a full recovery and return to the inn.

I was just thinking of you over the last couple days as I was cracking up my Shadowrun book again. You come back full and I'll look to get that SR game up and running, with you getting first dibs! (It won't be until Sept at least, so no rushing, Dude...)

Peace,
Ayrn

Subject: Hey Team

Hey All,

This is not meant to be rude or anything (I'm part of the problem, I'm sure), but can we pick up the pacing of this game a bit? It feels like it's starting to drag and I'd really love to see the ending of one of Tek's games.

Personally, I'd love a regularly scheduled update (i.e. DM updates on the Weekends, or Mon/Tue, or something like that), and if we don't post up, the DM npcs you. Miss 3 weeks of posting without notifying the DM, your character becomes property of the DM to do with as he pleases (i.e. kill off, npc, or recruit another player).

What do you think? Is this possible?

Tobias shoved his entire weight against the door, even as it shuttered against the thud-thud from the other side. Part of him wanted to step aside, to pay attention to the rhythm of the thuds... and, at just the right moment, suddenly open the door and let the enemy stumble in. Preferably into my crossbow bolt, thought the warrior.

But that plan assumed only one man on the other side, maybe two, and who could say now how many were on the other side. [OOC: Can I do a Listen check to try and determine how many people might be on the other side of the door?]

It was then that Tobias noticed that the Raslan had managed to open the other door. "Kresimir, think you might be able to bring that wardrobe here?"

I don't have time for a full post, which is too bad. But I was reading through my character sheet posted on the board and noted that Tobias is actually carrying a bow, a crossbow, a sword and a dagger.

Assume that, after Korviss makes the suggestion that the Mith woman borrow some clothes from the wardrobe (and she follows through if she desires), that Tobias will also offer her his dagger.

Subject: Tobias catches his breath...

The ex-templar waited on the one side of the corridor, keeping a close eye on the way they had come in. Tobias knew the Raslan was freeing the first of likely many. The warrior cursed softly that he had not the wits earlier to have claimed the weapons of his fallen enemies in order to equip the refugees.

The loud creaking of the iron door alerted Tobias that Korviss had been successful, and he let his crossbow settle more firmly on the doorway that they had entered through earlier, just waiting for a death merc to show his ugly bandana.

...But the sight of the elf woman...

She was the most exquisite, the most exotic, the most elegant creature the knight had ever seen. Her beauty, even though dimmed by the dank surroundings, and even though tarnished by her (likely) long captivity, could not be concealed, not be covered... but it shone through, bright and awesome in this dark place... like a lightning storm during a humid summer night on the plains... chaotic, wild, fearful... yet beautiful.

The knight averted his eyes back to the door, so as not to stare... so as not to become enthralled. As Korviss indicated he was moving back to the door by the wardrobe, Tobias spoke to Kresimir, "I'll watch the entrance way, if you give our lockpick some company."

[OOC: Continuing to guard the way we came in]

Steelight and Friends,
I'm afraid that I will have to drop this game for this time being. And it seems like a good place to exit out before this next adventure starts.

Sorry. Steelight, feel free to recruit for Skit or not, I am not too attached to the character yet.

Thanks!

Tobias nodded to the Gano, "Good point." Grabbing a couple of torches from the wall, searched for a way to light them while continuing to talk to his companions. "Kresimir, you mind keeping watch by the way we just came? Maybe grab a torch to keep you company."

"Korviss... Friar... let's see what's behind this door..." Tobias mooved towards the door nearest the wardrobe. Pressing his ear against the door, he listens for any sounds coming from the other side before trying to open it.

OOC: If Tobias hears sounds from the other side, he won't try to open the door, but will ask Korviss to listen as well. If there is no sounds, Tobias will attempt to open the door. If locked, he'll try the keys again.

Tobias grabbed at the offered hand of the priest, and tested out his ankle. "Thanks, Friar." Looking at the dead men before them, the knight added with a smile, "And that... that was quite the display of skill, good sir."

As the priest laid out a plan, Tobias searched the dead mercenaries for items of interest (keys, maps, notes, vials, etc), leaving anything that appeared mundane (ordinary weapons, coins, etc). "An excellent plan, Friar. I think I've caused enough bloodshed today."

It was then that Tobias heard the Gano mention that one Death Corp was still alive, though barely. The knight did not relish the idea of healing the bandit, though if the man could be convinced to give them some information...

Will he really? thought the knight. Even if the priest can bring him around, and even if he might be able to talk through his broken mouth... would he give them anything useful? Just kill the man! A waste of the friar's power, and a burden to leave behind.

...

But what if he could help them? The thought clung on so Tobias spoke it:

"My gut says to end the man's suffering and be done with him. No use wasting the friar's gifts on our foes. And who's to say he'd even talk to us if he could? I have not the stomach to torture the wretch, and not the time to patiently wait 'til he comes around to his senses and feel like conversing with us. But, what do you say, Friar? What will it take to get this man to talk, and how much time?"

[OOC: Tobias is in favour of ending the man's suffering and moving on through the doorway, but will go with whatever the others (the Raslan and the Priest) think best. If they are split (one with Tobias, the other with the Gano, Tobias will switch to trying to heal the man and getting him to talk... perhaps after they get inside.]

You can find just about all the information you need regarding races and classes online. Pathfinder has an SRD site similar (I'd say, better) to the D20 SRD. It can be found at:

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/

The core material from the Player's Handbook and most of the Advanced Player's Handbook, including alternative race and class features can be found there in an easy to read format. They even have a PC "High Goblin" race listed there!

Enjoy!

Tobias stood boldly, side by side with his shield mate. Even as he brought his sword down, he issued a call to his enemies. "Surrender now, while you still live, dogs!"

[OOC: Tobias is looking to attack the same mercenary as Nick. I don't know if 3.0 rules allow for intimidate checks as move actions to cause an enemy to become shaken... but if they do, that's how Tobias is using his move action. ]

Topic: Heroes' Club - Tomorrow's Heroes
Subject: A suggested breakdown...

If you're going with a super-powered hero, here's the basic breakdown I would start with:

Ability Scores: 10-20 points
Skills: 5-10 points
Feats: 5-10 points
Super-Powers:40 - 65 points
Attack/Defense Bonuses: 30 points
Saving Throws: 5-10 points

If your character doesn't have "super-powers", redistribute the Super-Powers to the other areas... likely a lot more feats, some more skills, a bit more on the ability score side... probably lots of points in equipment and/or "devices".

SKARI: Are we still on with this game? Haven't seen you around lately.
