Topic: New Spores of Itanlok Q/A ~ 1
Subject: Running through the mushroom forest

ALMERIN: Can we move through the mushroom forest towards the screams without hacking the mushrooms or can we maneuver through them with out cutting them down?

Destiny.

It was a powerful word amongst Ansgar's tribesmen... the idea of what one's future might hold. Many a man had tried in the past, begging the shaman to consort with the spirit, desperately hoping for just a glimpse of the future. What had this godless halfling seen?

"Bah!" said the Northman out loud, frustrated with such thoughts. "Your veiled words shall have no hold on me, Searo! You shall not rule me with hopes and desires to know glimpses of my future!"

He paused, subduing his passion before speaking again. "I shall join you, Searo. Not because of some foreseen future, but because of the known past. This black witch and his wretched, shambling army are a disease on the land. And our people have suffered it long enough."

With that, the barbarian went back to his food.

((OOC: Ansgar is ready to move on. I think he is provisioned for well enough.))

((Oh! And, yay! for not being a dead game!!))

Dragonblood, I just glad you want to play, man! I felt no bumpege.I'm looking forward to lurking for now (maybe, playing later...).

Tek: Dragonblood can take my spot at the virtual table. I don't think I'll be able to get a character ready in time anyway and would hate to hold up the game.

I think sending the NPC PCs off down another path is a good one!

Looking forward to this game!

Tek,

I'm looking over the list of six "requirements" for your game, and was wondering if you could tease out a bit more what you are looking for. In particular, ambition, motivation, and obsession as these three seem rather similar to me.

Can you help me out?
Thanks!

A quick summary of what's gone on and what the characters know so far would also be most helpful... for old and new both, I suspect.

Thanks Almerin! You rock, man!

Hey Almerin,
I updated my cleric... please note them, they are not major I don't believe.

Let me know when I should post.

Brianna (and Dragon Mistress), I'm thinking you maybe missed reading Almerin's above post. He's decided to call the game due to draggy-drag on the posting front.

Looks like you may have your hands full, Tek.

I'm not sure if I'm able to play quite yet. I'm in Almerin's Spores game, and Tann's Trilogy game, and one other one (but I think that one might be ending).

Anyway, a couple things:

1) Posting frequency? 1x/week? 2x/week? Whenever possible? What are you hoping for?

2) How are you hoping to deal with the inevitable issue of delinquent players who are failing to post regularly?

3) How do you feel about multi-classing and "dipping" into other classes? Are you more the type of person who pays close attention to the flavor text of the classes/ prestige classes, or are you cool with players building characters based on class features?

Here's an example of what I mean: The flavor text of the Barbarian class suggests a wilderness warrior who knows nothing of civilization. However, it is quite possible to build a poor, urban streetfighter with anger issues by focusing on certain skills while ignoring others, right?

4)I'd be interested in seeing some information about the Halfling subraces... Raslan [Gutter Folk], I think. I have a halfling dagger-tossing rogue in mind.

Thanks!

Sorry up front, I'm not trying to be an jerk, but...

Wouldn't the fishing industry around the town be decimated if once/month this boat comes in and kills all the fish life?

And after month 1, where would the new fish come from? I could *maybe* see them coming from further upshore or something, but after month 2/3, I can't imagine anything living in the waters anywhere near this coastal town.

Subject: Understood...

I feel ya, Almerin. I'll admit that this game has felt a bit "draggy" at times. More so, as of late... I think ending it was a fine move. While we didn't get to do the climactic finish... the truth is, for me, the climax was when we figured out the old Lizard-man was the Wizard and when the Sea Druid revealed what was really up in the underwater city. Defeating the god would have been just icing on the cake.

Anyway...is it possible, Almerin, for you to write a wrap-up post for the game to tie up the loose ends? I'm not looking to add on a lot of work for you, but if you could, that would be cool!

Brianna and Dragon Mistress, thanks for seeing the game this far. Good times!

EDIT: Almerin, I've said this to you in private, but let me say it publicly too... thanks for another great game! (For real!) I always love your games for their puzzles and open-ended-ness. Very challenging and rewarding! Also, you come up with cool monsters and villians and NPCs. Thanks!

So, as you cansee, no update yet. My laptop (work computer) is down and it will likely be out for the rest of today. Hopefully back up tomorrow. **shakes fist at HP**

My work comp contains all the maps and game info, so I'm a bit stuck for the moment. My apologies.

Anyway, I'll look to update tomorrow (wed) night and then on Sunday night again.

Thanks for your patience.

Shaithis: How long are you waiting for the others to post? Not looking to be pushy. More wondering when I should be looking for an update. (that way I don't become frustrated/ disappointed when I come on the site each day hoping for an update and find none )

EDIT: BTW... I really like where this is going so far! Keep up the great work!

Topic: A Local Legend - An Audalis Short Adventure
Subject: Call me Captain Highliner!

It was a tough go making down into the chasm, and buffetting current bullied Cole the whole way. Still, the light drew him like a moth to the flame... just the thought that he was in the presence of a god... it was somewhat inspiring and awe-full in the same moment.

As they approached what was sure to be Gubulondil, Driscoll drew out his rapier. Shinara, I hope this works!

Just then, sudden movement caught his eye... a mighty shark swimming towards them. He knows, thought the swashbuckler. He knows we're here... knows we're coming for him.

To his companions, Cole said, "Right! Let's finish this 'ere, lasses, quickly, 'fore 'e calls all th' fish o' th' sea on us, hmmm!"

The seaman withdrew his rapier even as his put some space between himself and his companions, hoping the creature would have to choose a target and thereby expose it's flank.

[OOC: Without a map (which is okay), I'm not exactly sure whatthe battle scene looks like... but here's what I'm hoping to do:

I'm hoping to put a bit of distance between Cole and the ladies, moving at least 10 ft, causing the shark to choose a target. But I'm also hoping that Cole will be between 10-20 feet away from the shark at the end of this round, so that next round Cole can move in to attack the shark using his Skirmish attack [+1d6 dmg/ +1 AC].

However, if it is possible for Cole to move in and attack the shark THIS ROUND, he will... again looking to use his Skirmish attack. (Cole can move 40 ft/rnd normally)

Make sense?

Regardless, his Dodge feat will be used against the shark.]

If you're a mage or druid, you don't need a weapon (not in 3.5E, at least). You are a god.

Reralae, we stand in solidarity with you in your grief. My hope is that, as you gather together with your family, you may all find hope, peace, and comfort in the midst of your sadness.

EDIT: I will resume posting on Monday night.

Thanks!! Wow! Not where I expected the "Old Man" to be... But cool.

That would have been quite the dangerous trek for Ansgar to make, yes?
