I'm a bit busy right now. I had hoped to get a post up already, but have not got to it yet. Sorry.

I have two weeks of crazy and then it slows down for me again (probably will be slow[er] until May/June).

I'll try to get a post in yet this week. Could definitely use a little help here though in moving the game forward.

Topic: So who was your first?
Subject: Sui's first... and mine

Sui, your monk's name was Chale. And he was definitely fortunate to survive the little adventure.

Not sure if I will ever come back to those character... although I may come back to that campaign setting.

Anyway... my first character ever would have been a... ? I do remember it as being AD&D 2ed though and I started back in high school, in the same room as my accounting class... probably back in grade 11 (junior year, for those of your in the States)... 1993, I think. We used to play on saturdays at the DMs house. It was very much the whole sterotyped D&D experience... right down to the Mountain Dew.

First character here at the Inn was my namesake, a human wizard (w/ the witch kit), who first starred in the Webmaster's game "Meanwhile", before moving into Olan's other campaign "A Separate Thread." Super fun character.

Pearson heard the sound of footsteps coming down the hallway behind him. Taking his eyes off the room in front of him, Denes looked over his shoulder and saw Lee approaching.

“Listen up!” the sergeant said. “Hatherford, return to the observatory and set up a bivoc camp for the two soldiers and guard the area. Hart is in charge.”

Hatherford padded off while Lee turned his attention to Pearson. “Pearson, you’re with us.”

“Yes, sir!” Pearson replied crisply. The private rolled back his shoulders and checked over his weapon quickly as he waited for the rest of the team to gather. As he did this, he spoke to Lee, “Where we headin’, sarge?”

OOC: Tag Lee

As Lee replied, Denes nodded his head in understanding. “Gotcha, sarge!”

As the others arrived, the sergeant (Lee) gave Denes a hand gesture, indicating that the private should take point with him. The big man followed as he was commanded, and began heading toward the Main Lab with Lee, eyes sharp and ready for action.

OOC: Pearson will follow alongside of Lee as commanded.

If you need some fresh blood, I'd be interested.

If you are interested, let me know by PM what I need to know for character creation... or if I'm taking over someone else's character, send me that character's info.

I don't mind taking over a character even for a while until the original player comes back.

Let me know.

ROUND #2

HYDRA: Ruff > Attacks "Trident"

HYDRA: Roscoe > Throws flask at Seya

Ruff snarls at the human, the pain of the man's trident still stinging. He tenses up again and lunges at the man, looking to get past his defenses and sink his teeth deep in the man's flesh.

Roscoe, frustrated that his last attack missed his intended target, looks for a new place to throw his flask of death. He finds it in Seya and launches it straight at the archer.

OOC: Sorry... a couple of questions regarding the current situation.

1) What space did Myra move to in order to heal Seya? What are the coordinates?

2) Isn't getting up from the prone position a "move action"? Can Seya actually get up, move some spaces and then attack? Or can she only get up and attack, or get up and move?

Sorry... it determines where I place my next attacks.

Thanks!

Subject: Sigh...

"I think that's fair, but I can bet Pio will hope there won't be any 'killing' in the 'Grommel'"

Pio took a deep breath... it was a cleansing breath -- a breath prayer, almost... praying to all the good gods for patience like his father. She hasn't yet realized the nobility inside herself, the knight told himself.

Pio closed the eyelids of the dead man before he stood up from the body. Sheathing his sword, he agreed with Llammoth suggestion as well, "A drink would be good. See if the place has changed any since we were last here."

As they walked into the Broken Grommel, Pio greeted Miran warmly. "It is good to see you, brother," he said simply, clasping the man's shoulder gently.

As the entered the tavern, Pio led the way to a table that was somewhat away from the other patrons, but not too far away to look suspicious.

Topic: You Filthy Little Thief!!!
Subject: A man's word

[OOC: Backposting a bit… picking up at the negotiations…]

The lead thug was stuck for the moment, trying to figure out if he was getting a fair deal. Pio was surprised that it took him any thought at all… Thirty-five guain is a lot of coin! the knight thought.

Finally, the thief replied, “Alright. Thirty-five guain, and what we’ve already got is a good enough deal. Now I want the money first, because I don’t trust you!”

Pio retrieved the proper coin to seal the deal, not really worried about the thugs running off with the money. He was confident that his family could take down the entire group of thugs if they were double crossed.

Percy was still mumbling incoherently just off to the side of Pio, and the knight prayed to all the gods above that the woman would contain herself… he knew it would take a miracle.

With the money handed over, the lead thug began to share the info he knew. “…Virgin Stuart told us last night that he had heard that it was done by a lone rogue, not a member of the guild… If you want to hear more, talk to him. You'll find him in the Heart of Darkness, if you manage to get into that joint."

Hrmmm… thought Pio.

The leader thug gave a signal, and the thieves turned to leave.

Suddenly, a voice, coming from beside the Broken Grommel, addressed the thieves, "I certainly hope you told my friends everything they wanted."

Pio’s hand went to his sword, ready to draw it should the need arise, while his eyes looked to where the voice was coming from. It was familiar, for sure. As the figure stepped out from the deeper shadows, the knight recognized his brother nearly immediately. Miran! he thought to himself. This should be interesting…

The thieves paused for a moment. His thin, well-dressed brother continued, “If you have nothing more to say, by all means keep going." Miran crossed his arms over his chest but allowed passage past him.

Pio thought the situation was over. Got some good information… and without bloodshed… The thieves were beginning to disperse, and Pio was just about to walk over to Miran to greet his brother, when Miran spoke once more and chaos broke out…

"One last thing,” Miran said. “If you are holding onto something that we may want to know, run fast, for Percifeer is a little…" the man paused, seemingly looking for the right word before settling on, "Hot-blooded."

Almost as punctuation to Miran’s sentence, and definitely proving his point, the sound of a crossbow twanged. A bolt protruded from the back of the thieves’ leader. This time, Pio did draw his sword.

As the leader fell dead, Percy spoke, fury in her voice. “Drop our money and we'll let the rest of you leave with your lives." She pulled another crossbow bolt and cocked her crossbow again, loading the bolt.

When Percy finally recognized her brother, Miran, she dropped her crossbow and rush over to give the thin man a hug. Miran laughed as he caught his 'sister's embrace, never being one to withhold his emotions.

Pio just shook his head, allowing the other thugs to leave in peace. “So much for the ‘no bloodshed’ part,” he mumbled to himself.

Pio slowly walked over to the dead thug, dragging the man’s body off the street and down to a side alley near Miran and Percy. The knight removed the bolt from the man’s back, and propped the body up against the wall. Searching the body, Pio retrieved the coins stolen from them earlier.

OOC: Do I find anything else of interest?

"Not a friend of yours I take it?" Miran asked light-heartedly.

“Aw, he was fine enough,” replied Pio. “Just trying to make a quick coin like most folks around here.” He paused and looked up at Percy. “Miss Percifeer, however, was a bit slighted that one of this guy’s wench’s nearly put bolt through her pretty face.”

He paused again, before speaking directly to Percy, his voice restrained, “You know, Percy, you didn’t have to kill the man. We made a deal with him – thirty-five guain, plus what they stolen, plus they got to walk away with their lives. I gave him my word.”

Pio was slighted disappointed, “I don’t mind bloodshed… but there just wasn’t any honor in this. You shot him in the back, Percy. Can you at least call him out next time?” He looked at the beautiful woman, with eyes pleading, “For me, at least?”

OOC: Tag Percy…

OOC: I have more to post… about entering into the Broken Grommel and such… I hope to do it later tonight.

That's definitely helpful and good to know. I will keep that in mind.

Even if you're not sure what to post IC (or don't want to post first), can you post your (player's) thoughts here, so we get a feel for what we're thinking? Even if it's "Wow! Nice Almerin! I have NO idea where we should go now... Anyone with a good plan?"

HYDRA: Ruff > Attacks "the Trident"

HYDRA: Roscoe > Throws flask at Myra > draw another flask from pouch

Ruff readies himself to spring at the elf, when the human male moves to stand in between them. Ruff does not hesitate to attack the Trident, his razor sharp teeth looking to dig into the man's soft flesh.

Roscoe switches his focus too, and takes aim at Myra, trading blows with her. The flask leaves his hand, flying end over end, seeking out its target.

dems da breaks, kid! You committed to your action! Sucks that your teammate died and now you're stuck!

Really, though... I think that is how it should play. You post your actions, committing your character to the round. Everything is happening so fast (you only have 6 seconds / rounds), changing on the fly doesn't seem realistic, even if it means that the character you were going to attack is dead by someone else before you got the chance, I still don't think you should be able to change you action so you don't feel like you "wasted" your action.

For instance, if my teammate and I go to attack the same character, me with a magic missile and her with an arrow. And she happens to go first and drop the character with her arrow, I still think my magic missile should continue to target the now dead character. Sure, it's overkill, but it also seems more realistic. (AND means a whole lot less postscripts)

How many folks are still with us? Are we down to four players?

Sui, Philo, Sibs, and me?

Stryke, are you still with us? How about the rest of y'all?

I'm looking to post either tonight or tomorrow AM. My computer screen at home is fried so I can only post from work. (sad)

Anyway... what do you all want to do next? Broken Grommel or Heart of Darkness?

Personally, I say we had over to the Grommel. Pio could use a drink. Also, we could ask around a bit and see what we can find out about this Heart of Darkness place. Let's try not to spend to long there though. Quick roleplay, and then let's move on. Don't want this game to get laggy.

Also... I think I've said it before, and maybe it'sjust me that's feeling it... while it seems (to me) that Pio is leading this party, I hope that doesn't mean y'all are waiting on me to post first in response to the DM's posts or to be the one to interact with all the NPCs or to be the one to make all the decisions. PLEASE, post IC your thoughts (though speak them out loud if you want Pio to know them... he's no mindreader ). Anyone of us could have started the interaction with the thugs, right? (whether with words or weapons).

If nothing else, please atleast post here your (player's) thoughts about what you think we should being doing.

Thanks! Love gaming with you all! Good game so far, Almerin!

Grrr... hrrmm...

Almerin, are you waiting on reaction posts from the rest of us? I think Pio will just shake his head and, should the thugs turn to attack, he'll draw his sword and move to attack, yelling something like, "Nice work, Percy! Atleast finish was you started!"

Roscoe enters into the battlefield riding his companion Ruff at Z6

ROUND 1

Ruff > Move to S6 > Move to N3

Roscoe > Rides Ruff > Attempts to rally the crowd

IC: Roscoe enters into the arena riding his companion, Ruff. Both are dressed in dark leather armor, and appear feral and fierce.

The two make their way around the arena during the first thirty seconds, deliberately coming close to all the other combatants… smelling them for weakness and fear. As they make their way around the battlefield, Ruff growls and bares his teeth at all he passes by, challenging his enemies to attack.

For his part, Roscoe hoots and howls as Ruff carries him around the arena, making faces and obscene gestures at some of his enemies.

OOC: This behaviour continues until round 5

ROUND 2

Ruff > Moves to I6 > Move to D9

Roscoe > Rides Ruff > Continue to attempt to rally the crowd

ROUND 3

Ruff > Moves to G14 > Move to L17

Roscoe > Rides Ruff > Continue to attempt to rally the crowds

ROUND 4

Ruff > Moves to T17 > Moves to Q20

Roscoe > Rides Ruff > Continues to attempt to rally the crowds

ROUND 5

Roscoe > Dismounts from Ruff > Move to R20 > Bares his teeth at the elf, Seya

Ruff > Bares his teeth at the elf, Seya.

ROUND 6

Roscoe > “Sheaths” club > Growls at the elf, Seya

Ruff > Bares his teeth at the elf, Seya, and growls low

ROUND 7

Roscoe > Cast a spell [Guidance] on self

Ruff > Continues to growl at the elf, Seya

ROUND 8

Roscoe > Casts a spell [Virtue] on self

Ruff > Continues to growl at the elf, Seya

ROUND 9

Roscoe > Casts a spell [Resistance] on self

Ruff > Begins to bark at the elf, Seya

ROUND 10

Roscoe > Readies his shield > Draws a flask from a pouch.

Ruff > Tenses up for battle

IC: Roscoe looks straight into the elf’s eyes.

“Time to die, elf.” He states simply, his accent thick, almost guttural.

Ruff’s muscular body tensed and he readied himself to spring into action.

Actually, Laurelestra is on Team Kraken.

Her teammates are TheRealStGeorge and Reralae.

She put Team Hydra in her posts, but did get her teammates right (she cast the spells on the right people and moved into the same position and her team)
