Dragon Chat 3.5 game? Woo hoo! We just had one with Tiamat last night ~ what fun! Go for it! I think everyone should try gaming like that at least once; I had a blast!

Consequently, how did you come upon the Red Dragon Inn?

I'm actually rubbish at thinking up these things on my own. I played a while ago, so I know what *most* things mean, but I haven't kept up on it so I feel like I'm fumbling in the dark! I can sure give it a try though...

Plus I don't know everyone here at the Inn that well, so its up to you guys to keep putting up these fabulous card stats!

Okay, so I finally figured out what Grugg was talking about. The following images all have artwork that was not done by me, but pulled off of the internet from various sites. If you wish to use these cards for anything other then amusement, I can get you the websites that they were used from, so you can ask permission!

Keep those cards coming, I think they're awesome! And if anyone has any artwork they'd like me to substitute in for a card, change some wording around, etc. just let me know ~ they're super easy to edit. Additionally, if any moderator wants to put these up somewhere, you have my full permission to do so. Or if you want to tell me that this is too much bandwidth as it is and I need to take it down, also just let me know!

Make sure to click on the zoom button on the pictures. The link will take you to a picture that's about 2/3 the size ~ I think they look better at full size.

So, I wanted to put on up, but couldn't decide from all the cool cards! So, I decided to just go with the RDI card. I did do a little bit of creative editing, let me know if you don't like it, and I'll change it!

so....

I have all of these cards done up in honest to goodness magic-type picture format. As much as I'd love to post them all here, I know that its frowned upon due to bandwidth.

Any chance I can con a moderator into setting up a particular section in the Art section of the Audalis for RDI cards?

Subject: Raina ~ Not up for sailing again

"This may sting a bit."

Raina, who thought it was impossible after this point, started to laugh shakily.
“This may ….sting….” she choked out in between giggles. She stood after he was done, and examined the bandages. Light still shone in her eyes.

“Thanks, Quarlin,” she grinned at him. Patting at the cloth, the burglar started moving her joints to see what was working and what wasn’t. Needless to say, it was all stiff.

"There that should hold you for a while and keep contaminants out of the wound as it heals. And don't worry any about the blanket. I can magically "mend" it when you are done with the "bandage".

He held up the blanket, waved his hands, and it seemed to start weaving itself back together on its own. Upon further examination, the previously filthy thing looked like it had just come fresh from the washer.

“Fancy,” Raina commented, the glint of amusement still not quite gone, “too bad it doesn’t work on skin.”

Clouds boiled in from the horizon, and thunder cracked overhead. Raina looked up and frowned at the sky. The rain came twice as fast, and started drenching them. Heironymous was carefully making his way back to where she , Quarlin, and Gronz were getting soaked.

"Ok folks,” he was saying, though she could barely hear him with the storm around the cliff, “considering the weather, I suggest we take the path available to us. Anyone got a light?"

“Something evil drives this storm,” Raina shouted, more to the sky then anything, “I don’t like what it implies, but I don’t see any other option. Getting thrown off the cliff again is not on the top of my list of things to do.”

"Well as far as light sources are concerned,” Quarlin said, “I can think of two, if you know the light spell use it, I for one can see in the dark."He rummaged in his bag for a moment, and produced a sunrod, "Here's the other option. Now who wants it?"

"Well, I'd usually prefer to use a torch instead of burning a spell or sunrod we might need. Anybody have one?" the cleric asked.

Raina shrugged her bag, which was still miraculously in one piece, “I’ve got a lantern in here with a little bit of oil. I’d prefer to light it just inside the mouth of the cave so as to not drench the wick.”

"Anyone offering to go first?” Heironymous asked, “I might suggest someone who wants to be in front of the light and has better night vision than mine. Otherwise, my armor can lead the way. Hopefully we can find a resting spot inside."

“I would,” Raina started somewhat hesitantly, “ I would, for the sake of making sure nothing is going to fall on our heads, or that we might actually stumble into some hidden pit. But I gotta tell you, Heironymous, I am definitely not up to full speed. Hell, if you smack me upside the head, I’d probably be down for the rest of the afternoon. I say get just inside the mouth of that there cave ,stop and rest for a bit.” She started shivering slightly as the rain and the wind beat against her skin.

Topic: The Search for Tomorrow Q/A
Subject: So, I was thinking this morning...

I apologize for yet again being absent. It seems to me to be a common occurrence during the summer. By the by, is it just Ayrn and I playing right now, since Kaelyn is out of commission and Steelight is busy with conventions and selling his published campaigns?

Something clicked together for me this morning, and I’d like to address it. Combat behaviors. It was mentioned that our characters should be put into a particular ‘combat mode’ like Dragon Age, defensive, healing, aggressive, etc. I understand that it would speed up combat progress, but there is something that I’d like to address.

So, as a spell caster, does this mean that you will decide what spells are best for Kaimelle at the time, and where and who they will be directed at? If it’s getting done in big chunks, does that also mean that you will be deciding how Kaimelle will be using up her EP, and whether or not she is risking burnout? Having played a spellcaster several times, I understand the importance of a will timed, well placed, and correct spell for the situation ~ for instance Grease, while not a damaging spell, can be used creatively to wreak havoc in the middle of a battle, or if placed incorrectly, can backfire horribly.

Additionally, at the present time Kaimelle is suffering from some serious negative penalties for being sleep deprived. Does this mean that, in the hands of predetermined behavior, she would keep trying to cast spells where, in the hands of the player, she would decide to direct her energies elsewhere if spellcasting was just too hard at the moment?

I apologize for the bluntness, but as a player, I feel like my character is being railroaded.

Subject: Kaimelle ~ oh THAT ugly

“This isn't where I left you, my lily.”

A shiver ran up and down the slender spine of the Mith’ganni, but she stood her ground. With an effort, she reached out to the Ether. It’s warm, comforting yet deadly power trickled slowly towards her; it felt like it was behind a log jam. Unsure of what to do with the two companions next to her, she held off on casting.

“No matter,” He moved his body so his cloak shifted behind him. A long, fluid sword appeared in his hands, and he glanced back at Kaimelle, “I don't think a thanking is in order for letting her roam free. So rather, I think I'll just cut you to pieces and save my supplies with feeding these slaves.”

Keys appeared in the she-elf’s hand. The bearded human whispered to her as he hurriedly readied his crossbow, "See if you can get the door open."

And let those people out? People who are unarmed, starving, and desperate for salvation? Only if you’d like to see several dead innocents.

“I’d rather not,” Kaimelle whispered back. She wanted to say more, but her exhausted brain was unsure of how to tactfully convey her thoughts. Her mind was already filled with the ice blue eyes that were bearing down on the party. She raised her empty hand and called on the Ether.

OOC: Color spray towards the bully! Mage Armor next, and then… see my Q&A post. If what I’ve put up doesn’t work out, let me know, and I’ll… come up with something.

Well, I'd love to keep going. May I make yet another option? We could get another couple of players, and restart the game. It hasn't gotten very far into the story, so I think it wouldn't be too difficult just to have a 'redo' of the last scene if we can get a couple of more people in the mix!

Subject: Kaimelle ~ set the dead free

Small space after small space. Kaimelle rolled the sunrod in her fingers, focusing on its light as they moved into yet another corridor underground. The musty smell of decay lingered in the air as the room opened up into what seemed to be a crypt. She ducked her head down to avoid most of the cobwebs, and gazed upon what her light had shown her.

"I have no desire to lie here with the dead," the large human with the beard said at once, "And we have not the time today to explore the meaning... there's too much at stake. Let's get to the door in the cell room. Hopefully, we'll still have time to make our exit before this place is swarming with death."

The red headed one agreed, and turned to leave with the first, "What lies in wait here would seem to have much more time on their hands than we do. Come, let us find a more advantageous place for combat than among the home of fallen strangers."

Exhaustion set in, and the Mith’ganni was in no condition to argue, let alone think about the consequences of any actions. She turned to follow the rest back into the corridor. Her mind cast about for something to say; something to distract her from the pressing walls that were surely going to cave in under decades of decay.

“I never did understand human and dwarven desire to bury their dead deep underground,” Kaimelle said to the group, her voice still thick with inactivity. “Separating the dead from the heavens above just seems so… heartless.”

Subject: Tess ~ Let's not jump and run yet.

“I think I’ll stay with the Captain a bit longer, and maybe enjoy the, uh, fine jiu.”

Grace looked suddenly cheerful, "I'll come. I have some messages I need to check." Her eyes twinkled as she looked at Tess and spoke somewhat rapidly, "Puhn Yoh, can you do me a favour? Can you ask about that Howard guy? I want to check out any known info about him but I need a last name"

“I, uh, what? Howard?”

"Sheh Sheh!" thanked Grace before hurrying off.

The pilot made a small chuffing noise as the crew trooped out of the cantina. It seemed like Gracie was always meddling instead of working, trying to loop some conspiracy theory into another one. Oh well, Tess thought resignedly, its saved our rears more then once. She sipped at her water as she watched the crew pass by the feds outside. The rum and wine were still waging war in her stomach, and she idly wondered if the cantina served food. Not that I'd be able to afford it.

“So, are we going to give them the tour?” she asked Jon as she rolled her eyes toward the window. His potential answer was lost to the commotion of a bull of a man coming and loudly ordering beer. The gun’s resounding thump of metal on wood made Tess wince. Gorram idiot. Thing’s probably loaded. Fine thing for a fed to accidently shoot a local from some chwen mistake. She fiddled with a small piece of glass in her pocket so she wasn’t tempted to touch her own pistol.

As Ken led the rest of the feds into the cantina, it was apparent that one of them thought along the same lines, “Put that away Hudson. You’ll scare the locals.”

“Ahh Captain. They stick into my ribs when I sit.”

“Would you prefer to stand at attention for the remainer of the day while we enjoy your beer?”

“Umm…No Captain.”

“Good. Pack it then. I’ll be back. Vasquez, order me the same and make sure Hudson doesn’t drink them.”

Ken slowly but deliberately made his way towards their table, and made a small but very unique gesture with his hand. Alert and ready.

“Captain…” Ken motioned to the white haired man who followed him, “This here gentlemen would like to talk to the Captain of the Destiny.”

She smiled at Ken as he walked away. You always were a bit wua ser tian jwoo; but it never was your words that got my blood…

“Hello. I’m Sanders. Federal Marshal.” He produced a badge from an inner pocket, and Tess felt a ripple of irritation. Puffed up badge wielding Alliance. “You brought a companion, one Priscilla Barnes, in yesterday on a D5753 dash 432. I have been asked to check on her status and yours as this is a restricted area. Mind If I ask a few questions?”

Tess took another drink of water to regain a blank look. The onset nausea was starting to make her irritable, and she didn't trust herself to say anything. Jon answered the man indifferently, "We did? I didn't look at the paperwork, I jut signed it.” He waved his hand, inviting the man to ask more questions. She kept her mouth shut as the Fed and the Captain bantered back and forth; Jon was always quick in these Q&A sessions, even when he was full of shia suo. The white haired man seemed satisfied with the situation, and returned to the rest of his crew. It looked like they were going to stay a while.

So much for asking around about Howard. I hope whatever caught Gracie’s eye will keep her distracted enough from remembering.

Ken made his way back to the table and sat down. He looked at them both with a brow quirked, “So Captain,” he downed the last of his drink before continuing, “what now?”

Really?

Dark eyes flicked over to the table where the Feds still sat, and Tess echoed Jon’s words, “Like the capt’n said, enjoy the sunshine while its free. Yuan Fen gets refueled tonight, then we are off of this,” GORRAM ROCK “planet.”

Sorry guys! Life.... happened.

I hate to admit it, but I'm still sort of confused about the options. I understand about the closed door after the cell Kaimelle was in; but are you saying that we are trapped in the crypt?

If that's the case, I say let's at least look around so we don't miss anything before retreating back into the store room.
