Halfro

This is just a funny little thing that I drew up this morning and thought I'd share it. I was thinking it might be fun to have our lovely Innmates submit one liners (because, frankly, I'm rubbish at them), and I might draw up little scenes to go with them. Let me know what you think!

It spits out Harvey the Rabbit ~ who can only be seen by a small handful of Innmates.

I feed it some baling twine, a couple of ceramic roofing shingles, and a four leaf clover.

Dear Ogre,

My party members take way too much time talking to villagers and not enough time for killing! How do I get them back into Hack-n-Slash mode?

Granted. You drink a potion that makes you young again ~ you're three. In addition, your memory is wiped so you can't remember anything past the age of three.

Whoops. Sorry about that, Nomad. Guess I didn't write that very well. Just going up by myself was my intent; then having Gronz and I assist you up to the top.

Additionally, tying it (wrapping it) around the waist seemed like the easiest and fastest way to get that rope to the top.

I'd like to think I could apologize for the overuse of alliterations recently, but I can't. I've been on a kick recently and can't seem to shake it.

With that being said, I posted a small plan of action actually in the thread. Let me know if I need to expound on it a bit more.

Topic: Realms of Twilight - A Journey Begins
Subject: Raina ~ Climbing the Cliff Carelessly for a Chance at Covering her Cohorts

Heironymus began telling his tale, and it was easy to hear the sarcasm and frustration in his words. It was refreshing to get a straight answer after all of the muddled information she had received since being brought to Vorlance’s estate.

"And now I find myself here,” the cleric mused, “I know little of why I am here, only that I keep getting buffeted from one situation beyond my control to another. And how do you find yourself in our group?"

Her hand paused and hovered slightly over the leather as she looked back at Heironymus, wondering how much to tell him. He had, after all, been forward with her. Yes, but you don’t know these people at all. She inwardly winced at memory of the last time she saw her sister. Better be vague.

“Mmmm,” the noise came deep from her throat, “my story sounds very much the same, minus the prison break.” She smiled faintly before settling herself down for the night. Although that’s not the half of it, is it?

The continuous rain made sleep difficult to find. Waking up to it the next morning was even worse. Raina pulled on her gear and stared up at the looming cliff. She longed for a hot cup of tea. Perfect weather for a nice morning climb. The face of the cliff looked unyielding, but a plausible path could just be made out in the rain. This certainly wasn’t like climbing a stone wall up to a window, but the precise foot placement and slow work was reminiscent of the task.

Relief began washing over Raina’s tired limbs as the top began to creep closer. The treacherous climb so far hadn’t claimed any of the group, and the plateau carried a promise of rest and nourishment. A screech rent the air. Black leather creaked as she looked over her shoulder towards the sound. Wings could just be made out silhouetted against the starlight. A curse escaped her lips. At least it has stopped raining.

Quarilin broke the party’s silence, "Climbing like this is suicide, folks, but I do have an Idea. If one of you would climb up next to me we could each use a free hand to help each other tie my rope onto a crossbow bolt which I could fire at and over the nearest out cropping or maybe into the stone as a make shift piton. It'll be risky, cause we could lose the rope all together, but its all over anyway if those flying whatsits above us decide to have lunch while we are here. what say you?"

True to his nature, the half-orc did not reply but instead pushed on ahead up the cliff.

“He’s got the right idea,” Raina said to the others, nodding upwards towards Gronz. She had pushed herself to the physical limit before, and that hadn’t been a matter of life or death. This situation definatly was, although the makeshift piton might be more on the side of death. She inched towards Quarlin, “Tie that rope around my waist, and between the half orc and myself, we’ll get you guys to the top without as much risk.”

((OOC: A.) If Quarlin goes for it, Raina will help tie the rope around her waist, remove one of her daggers and place it in her teeth [oh yeah ^_^], and follow Gronz as quickly and safely as she can using her Climb and Acrobatic Skill. Once at the top, she’ll assist Gronz in hauling at least Quarlin up (I know, no climb skill) and assisting/hauling Heironymus up the cliff. For upcoming battle, it’ll be crossbow, then rapier if they come in for a landing (while trying to be as stealthy as possible. I know this might not be possible depending on terrain and where she’s at when the battle begins).

B.) If Quarlin doesn’t go for it, it will be much the same but sans Quarlin’s rope. If Gronz produces his rope at the top she’ll help, but she won’t suggest it (because she doesn’t know he has it!) but instead prepare to battle the birds of prey. ))

Looking for one more? I seem to have some time freed up and I'd love to be apart of this... althought I don't have the book! Any suggestions, or do I need to have M & M in my library to play?

PS~ if the character concept hasn't already been picked up, I'm all about elemental powerhouses! I haven't played one in... four or five years, so I've got a serious jones on that front!

Topic: Realms of Twilight - A Journey Begins
Subject: Raina ~ Silence is staggering

The mansion stood majestically against the trees as the group left the grounds. Raina turned her head to catch one last glance as the gate slammed shut. Vorlance was striding back across the grounds, but it was getting increasingly difficult to see him. What seemed to be heat waves shimmered in front of the estate, and soon after the entire property disappeared. The hairs on the back of her neck rose. This was not where they picked her up.

The one who had introduced himself Quarlin was the first to speak up, "I think that we should travel in a "T" formation, with Gronz and Heironymous on either side of the druid so she can track if necessary with some immediate protection. The rogue and I will hang back."

“Raina. My names is Raina.” she flipped her dark braid behind a shoulder and continued to scan the landscape, “Did anyone else notice how far we’ve traveled in just a few steps?”

The day drug on as the little party continued through the trees in silence. Raina took the opportunity to contemplate her new companions. Everything felt rather awkward, especially since she had been thrown into the mix just the day before. Events were spiraling out of control, showing nothing but two paths that both had potentially bad endings. No one that she was now traveling with seemed to like the circumstances, but again, all had been silent since they left the mansion.

Once they reached a suitable place to camp for the night, she assisted Quarlin with setting up the area, and started on cooking something hot for dinner. After the meal was done, she loaded up two plates, brought one to the mage that was engrossed in his books and sat down with hers. Silent chewing dominated the area. She didn’t feel the need to break it, her mind worked best when there was little distraction. Or a tremendous amount of it. After finishing her meal, she quietly stripped off her armor and began to clean the leather. It was unnecessary; the armor had been cleaned multiple times while she was at Vorlance’s mansion, but it kept her occupied.

“So I haven’t had a chance to ask,” Raina said into the quiet, “how did you all end up at Master Vorlance’s estate?”
