Subject: Everyone is in the cave...

Yes, you're all in.

There was a question asked. Allow me to clarify. The Maenid race has NEVER seen gnomes or elves before. They have never been to the psionic lands. This is why both Siegfried and Valerick are looking at them funny.

So, yes, the one you saw run past is the other player I introduced late, the wood elf.

*flips through everyone's sheets*
Tram - Whisper Gnome: Scout
Riaharan - Wood Elf: Fighter
Valerick - Maenid: Cleric
Siegfried - Human: Warblade
Roy - Human: Knight

Feel free to explain your characters to everyone. I hope I didn't destroy the concept in my introductions.

Subject: Two More Enter the Forray

It was pouring when Riaharan pushed aside the thick branch of a maple tree to see how deep he was among the mountains still. Orcs were not common in these parts, but it was all new terrain to Riaharan. He was an islander, and the islands to the Southwest were not known for mountains, only ice...lots of ice. This hot, muggy weather was an entirely new experience, and altogether unpleasant.

Water drowned his armor and it creaked as he moved. The slick rock was easy for him to maneuver, his homeland had plenty of slick ground, but his eyes rolled back in his head when he saw that the tree only revealed another mountain to pass before he could seek permanent shelter.

**Liberties**

He blinked hard into the rain and tried to peer around for shelter. Much to his surprise, it looked like a mountain cave was not far off, and it was open. There was even a good-sized boulder nearby that he might use to protect himself from the rain while inside. He rushed into the cave, to find himself face-to-face with a stand-off..

--

Nature sought to fill his wish today. Valerick was nearly blown down by the force of the wind about him. He had never passed the mountains before, and he was quite probably the first of his kind to do so. It seemed to be full of life unlike any he had encountered before. He fought hard to endure the driving rains just a little further..just a little further when he slipped on the unfamiliar terrain, and found himself sliding in what appeared to be an avalanche of water down the cliff-side.

**Liberties**

His heart raced as he sought about for every opportunity to save himself from the tree-limbs that smacked his forehead. He caught a break with a large log that was flowing downstream as well. Must've been knocked over in the rain, he thought as the green leaves helped him slow his pace. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter, The tree stuck, rather instantaneously, between a tighter crevice in the valley, and he nearly pulled his arm out of place trying to hold on.

He was dangling two or three feet from the ground, his skin sparkling in the flash of lightning that cracked thet sky. The stream emptied off the cliff-side only a few feet behind him. The ground he was dangling over ended only a few inches behind him. For a moment it occurred to him that, had the tree not caught the valley, he might well have plummeted to his death. He dropped down and glanced about for shelter. The weather was getting worse, and when the tree snapped in two and rolled into the pit below, he was fully convinced that it was time to get inside, somewhere safe.

Fortunately, nature was on his side today. A man...Must be a man, but those ears were weird... in leather darted past him as he landed, into a large hole to his right. He saw it as a great opportunity to gain shelter, and perhaps safe company.

Spiff finished up his work with his cell phone and glanced about at the crew in the van. He didn't see an obvious netrunner, but he had to ask before going to Jack for a contact. "We got a netrunner in the crew?" he blurted.

The eyes of everyone in the van quickly shot to the bullet-riddled man lying on his back, and Spiff and Preacher sighed almost simultaneously. "Whacha need?" the words floated from the holey cowboy hat.

"I got a message here I want you to post and make it look like it came from [such and such] rival gang. Then I want you to post the exact same post under the visad of several other rival gangs around here. They always steal credit for each other's accomplishments, so this should keep 'em off our back for a while." He passed Preacher the phone.

"That's easy paw'dner" Preacher smiled and grabbed the phone. **Hope this is close enough to how you specified Brom**

Spiff immediately snatched his coat from the side of the van where Firewind had tossed it when she Merry Deth started seizing. He spread out, pushing people aside if necessary to keep it out of the blood and pulled out a dry-clean-in a can. He muttered a slight apology before hand "Sorry boys and girl, but this coat is expensive." And he sprayed....and sprayed...and sprayed. He emptied the entire can in the hope of cleaning the acid rain out of the coat and keeping it from being damaged. It was far too valuable to him to do anything less.

By this point, they were moving Merry Deth to a school for further study. Spiff packed away his coat, neatly as he could, and watched as they filed into a small lab and Firewind got to work.

When the results were in, Spiff fought the urge to interject and only spoke once. After all, Jack did the same thing he did, so Spiff was useless to the discussion. It was when suggestions were offered that his mind really started blazing. Croaker started listing ideas, and Jack was confirming Scribe's brilliance, but Spiff was running the scenarios in his head and decided to play devil's advocate. Well, Spiff's advocate. When croaker finished, he spoke briskly and confidently.

"No pay ain't my game any more than the rest of you here. But if this employer is as high up as you say, we'd be wasting our time trying to fight them. If they're this good, then we've already lost. The whole pickup was a setup and they only really want to make sure that there's no evidence of the drug on the market. They don't care about 'no scratch' or any of that crap. I'm sure our meet was her father with a sniper on his head anyway. We try to grab him and he'll be dead and we'll have to book it." He coughed, and a pain shot up from his leg when the cough shook him. He winced, but continued, "I say we give them what they want. We drive to the meet, drop the girl out the back and book it out of there. This thing is better armor than what we're wearing, and the wheels will get us out of there a lot faster than my feet can. We're safest staying in and giving them the corpse. Make it look like we think we're at fault and we're too scared to ask for payment. Give them what they want and they probably won't even think we know enough to be a danger. What do ya say?"

As the wet adventurers rubbed the rain from their eyes, they heard the sound of water beating against the floor of the entrance, splashing their clothes further. The rain was only getting heavier. It seemed soon it would be hitting them in the face even in this shelter.

Their vision refocused in the darkness of the cave, only to realize it wasn't so dark. There was a lit torch at the wall opposite the entrance, near a wooden door that fit smoothly with the rock. The stone of the cave did not look worked, but the door fit snugly in the nook. They peered around, estimating about 40 foot width and 20 foot length (entrance to new door) and a second door on the far right of the cave.

The floor was wet, and water was starting to pool in the worn crevices. The doors looked worn with age and the lit torch did not illuminate much of the dark corners of the cave. Surely some nasty creepy-crawly hid there, waiting to pounce on a group of adventurers each 100 times its' size...ok, maybe not, but the corners were still dark.

It was a dark and stormy night....Well, it was relatively early evening, with the sun amidst setting, and it was more sprinkling than stormy, but it was wet and hot. Tram was passing through a valley amidst the Icerim mountains. He had been running from his past for days. He had left his friend Debel behind, and he wanted to forget it.

He was struggling to convince himself that Debel would've done the same in the face of such an immense beast...Maybe he had. Maybe somewhere in these mountains Debel was running to. But Tram was still too scared to turn back. There was a city to the North, he was sure of it. If he could just get to the edge of the mountains, and out of white dragon territory. He couldn't be far now.

The skies opened upon him and Tram realized that it was dark outside. Whether the clouds had blocked the sun or he'd just been daydreaming too long was now irrelevant. He needed shelter, fast.

**I'm taking liberties here, let me know if you wouldn't do this**

He searched the nearby rock for shelter. Surely there would be an alcove nearby. He had nearly resolved to sleeping under the rain that now threw him off balance occasionally when he started to read the mountain differently, noting the way that some of the rock was thinning above a boulder.

His survival instincts told him there was a cave behind it...a large one...more than enough for him to hide from the winds and rain. He clutched the boulder, now blinded by the stinging rain, and pushed, struggling and failing to move the rock that was more than twice his size........

---

Roy recalled the map-maker's orders. Head East to the mountains, and skirt them to the north. They will curve east, so follow the edge of the mountains in that direction. As you do, look North for the great city of Tershland. He was certain such a place would be perfect to prove his worth, but these mountains were difficult to hike. There was no beaten path, and he found himself tiring easily. To make things worse, it was starting to rain.

He was so frustrated that he found himself kicking stones whenever he looked at his feet. A stinging sensation rose up from his big toe and Roy knew what it was. He stubbed his toe on a nasty rock and winced. He had found it easier travel at the edge of the mountainous terrain if he stuck to valleys instead of cliffs. If he had been on a cliff, he might have fallen off, but this trip up, only made him stumble a bit in this small valley. Rain swatted his armor now, and it was time to find shelter. It was a dreary night.

He found himself staring at the stone he had tripped over as the wind picked up and rain smacked him in the face and looked up, more out of honor than a desire to find a place to sleep. A three foot high gnome appeared to be trying to move a 10 foot by 8 foot boulder.

**again, liberties, let me know**

He decided to help the little thing and easily shifted the boulder aside, revealing an opening, though the rain made it difficult for him to do much more than dive inside, after the gnome of course.

--

It was wet, and though it was a warm day, it seemed a dreadfully cold evening for Siegfried. He had never adventured on this level before, but the excitement of new scenery was dulled by the long walk, and now by the heavy rain. In fact, the winds were starting to pick up, and he felt like, even at his size, he was losing his balance in the wind and rain. He gripped the wall as he continued to walk.

He had just started to think about shelter when, purely by coincidence, the wall disappeared from beside him at the same moment the wind blasted him with tiny particles of water and he fell into a cave....

Subject: Warnings to Psionics

After a lengthy discussion on the pros/cons of psionics I see a need to make one change to the way the book shows it to be done. I can list the reasons why I made this change if you PM or email me.

When a psionic character loses his focus for more than 2 hours, the concentration roll to refocus takes an entire hour. My recommendation: DON'T FAIL THE ROLL. The party will not want to wait another hour for you to meditate. There are several feats you can take to ensure that this is not an issue (up to a +16 at first level) so I don't feel bad making this call.

That said, I'll see if I can get the opening post up today.

Good luck with Jazzer.

Questions Brom! Ok, Spiff has a lot running through his mind, but he still would have to have done some of the things I listed previously during the van rides. Additionally, our medic was in the van this whole time and we all had bullet holes. Any chance he was able to get any work done on us in the process? Any chance Spiff was able to get his work done?

Spiff noticed the girl twitching and heard the medtech muttering something, but he wasn't a medic, and he couldn't do anything to help, so he focused on the screen in front of him. If he could keep the heat of their back, maybe they could deal with the heat ahead. He heard Croaker speak, and knew it would be important enough to listen, so he did, still poking at his phone, just about done (right Brom?).

“Ok listen up she’s dead and clearly with the blood leaking from her ears there is nothing we can do to bring her back. So we head to that warehouse as planned and deal with whoever is there to meet us. Only we will treat it as a ‘hostile meet’ and take precautions.”

"Fine with me." Spiff muttered over his phone, not caring if anyone could hear him. He tried to focus on the good news, and the task at hand.

The phone rings and rings, seemingly destined for voicemail. Then, at the last second, there’s an audible click and a groggy voice says, “This better be a beautiful woman wanting to hook up, or I’m gonna commit a crime.”

Spiff spat into the phone, rushing the conversation to keep yet another call from ending in a hang-up. "Dave, it's Jason! Don't hang up, you want in on this. This could mean a promotion and much more for you...And promotions mean beautiful women!"

"Frack, Jason! It's one-frackin' thirty in the morning! This couldn't have waited until tomorrow?"

"Sorry, but it couldn't. Some gang bangers pulled a hit on the Wild Things, and they're a mess. If you get down there now, you will be the man to take down the Wild Things. There's not much left from the looks of it. You will be the man credited with getting one of the biggest gangs in Night City behind bars. I owe you big from all the help you've given me, so this is my way of saying thank you. I know it's late, but I figured this was worth it."

"You're frackin' kiddin' me! Well, Jason, I guess there's thanks to be given. I'll catch you on the other side of that news report... unless you got something you want from me in return."

"No worries man, like I said, I owe you. Get out there and take 'em down. I hope to see good news about you tomorrow. Call me if you need anything."

Jason hung up the phone and dialed another number. When the anonymous voice picked up at the other end, he spoke clearly and briefly, "The bird is caged." and waited for further instruction.

"There's a warehouse on the docks, Dock 15 t' be exact. Warehouse 15C." The voice was definitely Celtic in nature, dry and slightly bemused. There was no room for continued conversation however, as the line went dead the instant the instructions were given.

--The above is posted in close collaboration with Bromern Sal, much if it is his words--

Spiff started picking at his phone, typing something. He spoke up, to Bullseye this time, leaning toward the front seats from his seated position, still favoring his wounded leg. "Hey, after you shake any chasers, we're going to Dock 15, Warehouse 15C". His voice was a bit hoarse. It could've just been the rain, but Spiff's leg was really starting to bother him.

"Firewind, hurry up so you can get to work on the rest of us." He muttered vaguely, staring at his phone, and typing intensely.

As guns were lowered, I could get to like this DigitalScribe, and Preacher's bullet-riddled body came bounding for the car, Spiff shifted out of the way for the doc to get to work and grabbed Peacekeeper by the arm. "My phone milady."

--assuming he gets it--

Spiff first called his ol' cop pal from the campaign trail. Who better to take down the Wild Things than someone who's name recognition could well put Spiff in a better place to get back into politics. He dialed and pressed send. If things keep going this way, tonight could really pay off for me. Spiffs thoughts rushed across the next series of hills he had to pass. He checked his datawatch for the time. He'd have to make this phone call brief so he could get the drop-off location.

--we should probably do this via private message, I got a lot of calls to make--

I think a lot of the reason it is staying empty is because of the manner in which it needs to be left open. Might I suggest switching to an IRC room? I have a D&D IRC room and a bot to roll the dice (including an auto-stats feature) that seems to work quite well. Additionally, since you never have concerns with accidentally closing IRC, it's easy to have people stay on for long periods of time.

What do you think?
