Sorry GM, I can't justify this anymore. If these guys have wives and kids, I can't cause them grief (a lost job) and possibly death when I don't know anything about them just to get a free ship. WHY are we stealing this ship?

Subject: meet Percifeer, the wife you'd NEVER want

"YES IT WOULD HURT!" Percifeer looked over at the man as her fist struck the wooden table. She had been distracted by thoughts of Pio, but words like that dragged her right out of it.

"Do you not see our brethren dying at our feet? Do you not understand that each day we waste on failed leads brings Ormander closer to the hangman's noose? How DARE you step up to us and suggest a continued delay of our search! I have done everything in my power to expedite the process and get things done and have been thwarted at every turn by our fallen brother. I will NOT have you walk in here and continue to slow us down. We have a number of leads still. Do not make the mistake of assuming you are the only one here capable of thought."

Percifeer was livid. With that, she got up from the table and refilled her honey-water. Then she stepped outside to get a breath of fresh air and see if any of the party had spilled out into the streets.

I just failed my Calc III exam, which means I get to take the course again. My computer has an interesting virus right now, which is making it hard to get things done. I have to be at work (approx 1 hour away) in about 5 minutes, and I'm sitting in front of my pc with boxers on (and a bit sick).

OK, not 5 minutes yet, but I suspect I may call in today.

Welcome!

I must say, you picked a fine place to learn. This is where I learned the basics of D&D. There is no comparison to a face-to-face game, but the slower pace of play-by-post makes learning the game much simpler. I hope you have a good time here, and if you ever need a hand with ANYTHING, just drop me a line.

Subject: Percifeer takes action.

Percifeer partook in the festivities and encouraged the crowd to give themselves a pat on the back. It was a big animal, and quite a feat that they took it down. Still, she was very distant, thinking a lot. Mostly, she wondered about Pio, but more it was her concern for what they may have missed out on by coming this way. A fear that was confirmed by Dorothy's statement.

She was generally upset, but she decided instead to take action. She picked up her empty glass of honey-water and a fork. Then she stood and started tapping the fork against the glass. It wasn't much, but it would be enough to quiet the crowd and get their attention.

"First and foremost, one more congratulations on a job well done. It's true, Drefast holds the finest men and women in Audalis.

"I thank you all for what you did out there, and for saving my brothers. Your quick thinking saved lives, and I'm honored to be a part of it.

"You have proven yourself valiant, and it is because of this honor that I now ask your help. My siblings and I are in pursuit of information. A man named Ormander Galios has been accused of theft. His orphanage is to be closed if we do not find proof that he did not do it. It is this orphanage that brought us together and is the reason we call each other brethren.

"This man has done a lot of good for us, and probably some good for many of you. All we ask is information. Please tell us what you can. You can count on us telling your tale for many years to come. All I ask is a bit of help in this brief time of need."

She smiled, and set down her glass.

"Now eat! Enjoy the fruits of your labor. You are a valiant group, and you deserve this feast!"

She waited for a moment to bow properly if there was applause, and then sat back down to her meal, hoping that others would approach her with offers to help.

“Yup.”

Spiff sighed as he shut off his temporary phone. It was a big bill to pay to keep changing phones. Still, hopefully
it had a crappy messaging feature that he could pick up Reverend's new info from before he officially disposed of it.

In any case, he had to get that gun, and now he was down a phone in the process. He'd have to huff it.

"Preacher, I gotta go out to find these d***s a gun. Do you want to ride with or keep on the research end? I think I can request you get a proper keyboard in the lobby if you want, as well."

He decided to change. He could go for a few days in his jeans & t-shirt combo without anyone saying anything. Looking like this he'd be a target the second he set foot on the streets. He made sure to dry-clean-in-a-can his suit before putting it back neatly in his bag, then he saddled himself properly.

"By the way Preacher, I don' know much about these things beyond firing them." Spiff was setting up his holster and putting away his Mustang Arms.

He finished packing himself up and prepared to leave, storing a magnetic hotel key in his pocket. He prepared to head out, with or without Preacher. As he headed out the door, he turned back to Preacher and said "By the way, I'm not impressed." He knew that the hacker would know what he meant. The boy wasn't spitting out anything that was worth a damn. He couldn't even find out about the Wild Things. If Spiff wanted to, he could make one phone call and do that right now. Moreover, he mentions ATMs and his plan is "as far away as possible". Of course, but even that means he has to be there to take out the money at one point or another. Spiff was starting to see why he hadn't hired a netrunner yet. At least he was good at catching bullets.

Then again, maybe that was it. Maybe the solo was weak and tired from blood loss. The guy might be pushing himself too hard. Spiff almost felt bad for his statement, but with how quick he saw the solo jump to defense upon Revs arrival, surely he could handle a bit of web research. Even Spiff had heard of Google.

Still, he had to go downstairs to the receptionist, if for a keyboard or not, he still needed to get her to call him a cab. No way he was going out in this mess and walking from appointment to appointment. He might even have to shoot the cabbie if his contacts start to get a bit too...dark...

In any case, he'd have to see what he could do. He was going out on the streets to talk about a rifle. This was everyday stuff. It should be a walk in the park.

Topic: You Filthy Little Thief!!!
Subject: that's ALL Pio had to do?

It wasn't to say that Percifeer had no heart. But she wasn't in any mood to show it right now. Still, as Beinsel said he couldn't help him more, and a man picked up Pio's body, shallow breathing and all, she watched, her eyes shining a bit from excess water that she refused to let flow out.

Still, there were other concerns now...Pao had arrived, a boy she had teased at the orphanage, and now a young girl was there as well. It felt wierd not to leap out to give them hugs, but she was afraid the tears might burst from her eyes with such power that she would go blind. Well, she was focused on something else: Pio's retreating form, and now Llammoth in hot pursuit.

She had seen the girl before, but interacted little with her. She had been so young when Percifeer left that she hadn't gotten the proper training. Still, it would be reasonable to blame Percifeer (and likely Llammoth) for her behavior, as most of the girls in the orphanage had taken after her more excitable, quick-lipped attitude by the time she left.

She stared for a moment, trying to recompose herself before turning to the others when she heard Pao speak.

"This one was sent with me, not to guide but to accompany."

"HAH!" A sorceress is always one to be overwhelmed by emotions, but emotion changes just as quickly as the winds, and sometimes with even more power. She had been bursting with emotion watching Pio taken away. Now she had an outlet and that emotion knocked her right off her feat.

She fell to her knees laughing; tears streaming down her face, she only held herself up by locking her arms when she went to fall on her face. It was almost a minuted before she was able to get up. She continued laughing for quite some time, but greeted her siblings warmly amidst her (soon-to-be giggles) laughter.

"I've missed you Paomallen." She hugged him tightly.

She knelt down, still giggling at the little girl. It was quite clear she was as determined as Percifeer and as quick as Llammoth in this. She placed her hand on her shoulder and spoke to her.

"If you die on me, Ormander will have my head." (Mage Armor on Ocyari)

She stood and looked about at the others, and then back to Dorothy. She hugged her and kissed her on the cheek.

"Alright, my brothers and sisters," Dorothy began, "We should do something about that beast. After that, we can go into the Freemen's Way and catch up."

"I could use a bit of catching up." She looked over at the beast, and then back at the crowd. "I suppose it looks like a feast tonight, in honor of valiant people such as yourselves. Where do you want this thing? I can get it where you're cooking." And Percifeer started pulling out rope (150ft total) in anticipation of the crowd's response.

Subject: Quilia takes initiative

Quilia was rather unhappy. One or two guards was their guess, but this sounded more like a group. Card games usually demand at least 3 players, often 4 or more.

She pulled a powerpack off of her hip and showed to to Lelain. Then she tapped her headset and pointed to the pile of junk. She whispered, her ear still pressed to the door. "We're going to need both of these as many as we can get."

She then properly drew her rifle. How she had ended up a shipjacker in this was still a mystery to her. Still, if these boys decided they wanted a fight, she felt no need to play nice. She ensured the gun was not set to stun.

Once the others had completed collecting as many power-packs and comlinks as they could find, working or not, she cracked open the door and peeked out. Worst case scenario one of the guards would see the door crack and come to investigate. Best case scenario, she would get a full view of the 'obstacles' between them and a free ship.

Subject: Short, but to the point.

Quilia is a young black girl, currently with a blaster rifle slung across her back over a cloak that (obviously) conceals a pack. She had heard the droid and muffled her chuckle. She didn't speak any of the languages it spoke, but found it rather amusing. Still, she shushed the others. If they were here to break the law, there was no sense drawing anymore attention to themselves.

She was huddled against the walls keeping an eye out for what the guards were doing, and trying to ensure that no one had noticed them. She was playing the gunner role she had lived for a few years before being fired over stupid corporate policies.

Percifeer was surprised at the crowd's response. Shrugged it off and waited. When Pio was dragged out of the water, bloody and weak, Beinsel made over to him.

Percifeer stood there, her arms crossed, waiting for the situation to end. She had nothing to say to any of these men. All they were doing was causing problems.

Subject: Brom's fun foiled

Spiff didn't understand most of Preacher's rant. He was a bit distracted mulling over the best way to resolve the current situation. Still, he got the gist of it.

"Find out what you can--and I'd like to know how the bust went with the Wild Things too. I'm just about out of cash which means we'll have to be marking a location with another ATM tomorrow. Think about a good location for that tonight, and that'll be my first task."

He pulled out the pay-per-use phone. It was a piece of junk. Still, a man's power was information. Right now he had collected quite a bit. The question he had been mulling over was not necessarily what to do next, but who to call first. He thought about sending a text, but thought it might be too traceable.

The first man on his list was Reverend. If everyone else died, his right hand man was too d*** important to lose. He only waited for the music to be cut brief to start speaking, not caring about introductions. "They can track you through your phone. Get a pay-per-use and call me at this one." He hung up immediately afterward. He wanted to keep the electronic silence up as much as possible. Still, he was planning on spending the rest of the evening researching the sniper rifle. It might take as much as a week to get it, so he needed to ensure it was worth the risk. He dialed up the black bodyguard. He had caught his number during the luncheon and stored it in his own phone. ((with approval from Preacher of course)) He turned it on briefly to set the number to dial on his temporary phone, then back off.

He had to wait for a response here, but it was almost bothersome to deal with it. "It's Spiff. Since you're the only one I can possibly see as trustworthy who claimed skill with a rifle, I want an honest answer. Can you use that thing to back them up if I buy it? In other words, is it really worth the effort?"

((irrelevant of response))

"Ok. By the way, they can track you boys by your phones. Next time don't ditch the lunch meeting early."

Spiff hung up the phone. He conferred with Preacher briefly whether or not to shut it off and get a new one following the two phone calls. Whether that happened or not, Spiff had an evening worth of Streetdeals to pursue.

A thought briefly faded into his mind during the work that evening. Call Croaker? F*** that.

((If Guardian sees a need for the gun, that's the purpose. If not, I'm looking for 'biggest bang for my buck' bullet-proof glass. I don't know the size of the vehicle they'll be using, so I'll prioritize enough to protect the driver alone. The techie can worry about how to install it))

Beinsel was drawing a crowd and Percifeer had done all she could for the moment. She thought it unusual that the bard had chosen to do that, but she could work with it.

"Please, our friends are fighting a beast in the water. Get some rope so we can rescue them just as they rescued the fisherman it attacked!" She was pleading with the crowd. With a charisma like that, she was likely to get at least a few responses."
