Did you just call Percifeer a sorceress right there????

I ought to kill you for that.

Percifeer will look at Miran. You KNOW she is also a caster, but if you have the spell prepared, she is willing to let you have a go at it, especially since she does not know that spell. She will, however, accept the challenge if you appear unprepared. She is capable of such a challenge.

Subject: Ended due to lack of player interest

The scrambling continued for 2 full minutes. Finder found himself swimming into the belly of the ship in a fruitless attempt to find a pot that wasn't floating. Ja'ara tugged along the nearly dead body of his Jon Small. Meanwhile, the pirate ship sailed away, conserving its ammunition instead of firing back at the flailing group.

The 'crew' found themselves in unknown territory. Many could not swim, and the few who had obtained themselves decent flotation were forced to constantly fight for it in a very morbid version of king-of-the-hill.

The heroes of this adventure found themselves without any flotation, and with an extra body to take care of. It was a matter of hours before most of the 'crew' was dead. Only a few living bodies remained. The first was Finder, who was trying to rationalize and uncover a happy note. The halfling was on a piece of wood too weak to carry a full-sized human. It had saved him the effort of fighting off all takers. Ja'ara had proven himself tough as nails and was sitting pretty in a large piece of the crow's nest, but he had been forced to abandon Jon's body, which had stopped breathing some time ago, in an effort to protect himself from the onslaught. Aside from them, there was one pirate left, who had pushed himself to the outskirts with a single piece of wood to keep himself unnoticed, and one of the other crew, who had carried a staff with him made of wood, which had allowed him to wait out most of the others, and now provided him with the ability to sort out the wood around him.

Unfortunately, long ago any sign of paddles had floated away, and no one had the skill in crafting ships. There was nothing to do but wait for rescue. They were lucky, provided heavy rains without severely rough waters in an unending rain-shower. After a week of floating on the water, they even saw ships on the horizon. The pirate in the group seemed to know offhand how it would go, even in the depths of starvation (the last crewman had started eating corpses, but was looked at weirdly).

"They will roll up the sails and wait us out. They don't have room for us and don't want to risk it."

He was right. The sails were rolled up, and even when a second ship came on the horizon, it luffed its sails and let them loose so as to stop its movement toward them. The hours were slow and agonizing. Eventually the cannibal went crazy, forcing the pirate to kill him. The blood was fresh and stained the water, creating a new danger.

It wasn't long before sharks began to feed on the dead. The beasts were far beyond the capabilities of those in the water. The sharks ran out of dead quickly enough that it was terrifying. They attacked the pirate first. Ja'ara and Finder had no attachment to the man, so they simply watched, not that they could stop it. He was dragged underwater screaming, bubbles flowing up after him, and he never surfaced again.

Finder looked over at Ja'ara, preparing a joke to tear away the confusion. He didn't even have time to scream. His tiny body just disappeared under the water as Ja'ara watched.

He could do nothing but sit there, surrounded by enough wood to protect him, watching the horrifying spectacle. He was not attacked, and his meditations had become impossible in the water which was nearly freezing from the constant rains. He waited in the crow's nest for a rescue that never came, his last breath left him dangling off-balance over the side of the wooden raft, it flipped, letting his lifeless body sink into the deep ocean, never to be seen again.

Percifeer could only play along for so long. This man had deliberately insulted her, and she wasn't going to let him off the hook for it unless he retracted it later.

She played along, still tugging at her cloak. "Yes! Dark Powers! Sounds exciting!" Worst case scenario, if Miran failed, she could back him up. After all, she had summoned a shark not long ago this very day. That was dark, yes?

She giggled a bit more, and waited for the contest rules to be revealed.

Quilia knew tactics. The only reason she'd been hit was due to Lelain's charge. She was holding the door open for her comrade to continue. Now, Lelain was down, and the droids were advancing. There was no option left. She'd have to do the best she could to take down these droids, then attend to her fallen comrade.

She closed the door to a mere crack. It would provide a good deal of cover from the incoming fire, and allow her to fire out at her attackers.

(She'll use the partial cover and go all out --rapid shot-- on the droids until combat ends)

"I said you either misread or didn't read the pertinent sections of the rules"

The point still stands, you insulted my integrity. If you'd READ the feats section of the PHB, every argument here is proven by it. Rituals are SPELLS. The difference is that the rituals require spell-components, while a caster in 4e can cast ALL DAY without any negative side-effects. Rituals are what is required to enchant items, making casters no-longer crafters. The shield proficiency feats explain at length the requirements to take them, which include STRENGTH requirements. If you READ the equipment section of the phb, you'd see other blatant proof of our arguments. Take a look at the pictures of the items. The wand is loaded with gems. Cost: 7gp. ??? The hemp rope is so thin it would snap under light-weight creatures, not these gigantic Dragons etc. they have as base races. 10ft chain weighs 2 lbs!!! That means 50ft of chain weighs the SAME as 50ft of hemp rope, that stuff that's so thin it will break under even the lightest weight.

Look, none of this is to imply that YOU are wrong. Instead, I am explaining that you have not proven me wrong either. You are determined that I MUST be wrong for YOU to be right, when in reality, you're right and I'm right. We just disagree on the merits.

You're mistaken. There is a feat in 4e that anyone can take that allows them to cast. Almost everything in that series of posts is true. A heavy steel shield DOES require a 13 Str, and a light DOES require an 11 Str. We read the books before and during posting. There are some jokes, I will admit. That does not make the majority of it false.

If it hadn't been for the fact that she had worked with Kate for some time, Quilia might have shot the droid dead right there. It talks to her, and then the droids out in the hangar activate and attack. It truly looked like an attempt to foil the operation. Still, Quilia knew better.

**first round actions**
"Get your *** back in here!" She shouted at Lelain as she drew her rifle. She then took a shot at the most agressive-looking droid. There was no time for this crap.

Subject: Spiff's Heaven--of sorts

Jason was in his element. He had been out of politics and on the street for 4 years now. The game was not new to him. The way he felt though, had changed. Most of his young life he had believed that, given enough power, he could fix the problems that were out there. The idea was still accurate. It was his methods that he found unsound.

There were scumbags out there, for sure. But the politicians couldn't get involved in this sort of thing. It was guys like him and Springed-Heel Jack that really got things done. This was how the world worked, and if that's how it had to be, that's how it had to be.

Still, his recent epiphany was slightly biased. He was truly enjoying himself. Sure, the first guy he met with had short-man's syndrome, which demanded an unnecessary cash exchange, and the second guy he met with enjoyed cigars on a level that was nearly unbearable, but that didn't mean it wasn't the best time he'd had in years.

Spiff was all about the games and this Kremlin guy sure knew how to have fun with it. He had to keep himself from overdoing it on the Vodka and fun so that he could stay focused for the upcoming meet. He was having quite a good time.

The limo was almost heavenly. Spiff wasn't a smoker, but that didn't make cigars outside the question. Still, there is a limit, and Kremlin had broken the limit and thrown it out the window. In any case, this was how things should be done. This is what Spiff should be riding in. There's no reason to be buckling under the weight of panzies who wanted 6000Eb for "upsetting" them. Hell, there was no reason to be buckling under the weight of this lousy Megacorp.

It had been a lot of work putting on a smile around Croaker. He had to make an effort to be the charismatic man then. Now...he couldn't get the smile to go away. It was so much fun playing the talking games. He could hardly contain himself.

Spiff was seeing the up-side to working from the streets, rather than from a lush office far from reality, but it was a long journey he'd have to take. Still, this part of the journey was definitely going well. He was talking this Blue Kodiak out of a gun with ease. The gun sounded impressive, with rounds that could blow targets to shreds. It definitely had to be worth more than the WA2001, not that Spiff knew anything about that gun either. Still, Spiff knew the pricing game. This gun was worth somewhere around 2000-2500eb if this guy started out at 3000. He was getting a deal.

All of his feelings were confirmed when he sat down back in Kremlin's limo for the ride back to The Docks. “You have a talent, Spiff. I have not seen someone speak the better of Blue Kodiak in some time. It was most impressive."

Spiff was still smiling, but if he could have smiled wider it would have happened. He raised a glass to Kremlin in cheers.

“You now have a rifle for your buyer, and I have someone who speaks well in my pocket,” Kremlin chuckled and sipped his drink. “A good night for us all, yes?”

Spiff couldn't stop smiling, but he thought about doing so. This was a power-pull. Spiff read it very easily. Still, this was Kremlin. The guy liked to play word games. Spiff was game, and he had no problem working with this guy in the future.

"Might want to be careful there Kremlin." Spiff took a sip from the glass and set it back down, winking. "If I'm in your pocket, I'm quite close to your cash, if you get my drift."

Percifeer was caught off guard, standing outside, still talking to Miran's doppelganger (having not realized he hadn't replied, she figured he was being a good listener) when the group came out, bound for the Heart of Darkness.

She looked around briefly, then sighed, following. She had a whole plan devised for the trip to HoD, but all of it would have to be changed given that they decided to go at night. It was a suicide mission. That's all there was to it.

Percifeer did have a familiar. She had taken a liking to a small owl during her time working under several wizards in town. She liked to let her owl be free to do his thing during the day. It usually found a nice branch to sleep on outside of town. But at night, she would generally (though not last night) call it to her to return the favor. She let out a high pitched whistle as they started walking. It was largely a formality because of her bond with the animal, but she didn't want to call attention to herself as a wizard. The owl landed on her arm, and she pulled out a bit of food for it while they walked.

While the owl ate, she concentrated for a moment and said "Let's hope for safe travels." (Mage Armor on me)

She then turned to the others and said "Does anyone else need protection?"

After casting on those who needed it, she went back to focusing on her owl. His task would be to fly above, watching from the rooftops. The abilities they had in working together would pay off if things turned ugly. Misty, as she had named the owl, could fly right up to her enemies unwatched and deliver her attack spells. Plus, her vision at night was exceptional, making her a valuable asset.

Arriving to the bar, Miran got the first word in. "We wish to obtain access to this establishment, fine sir,"

Percifeer giggled and looked up at the man, her charisma saying more than words could. "Could ya let us in? I'd like a drink." She fluttered her eyelashes at him. It's not to say she looked drunk, but her eyes had been wet since Pio's untimely trip away. It gave them a slightly glassy appearance that any bouncer would know right away means trouble in the eyes of a tough guy, and joy when it's in the eyes of a beautiful woman.

The little droid went over to the port. The droid had seemed decently useful so far, so she hadn't questioned it, and since it was KTI, she understood that it could use the port. Stll, when it sounded the alarm, Quilia cringed. Had KTI already updated to block the droid out of the system?

"Cover me." It was the voice of the other person in the room.

Quilia was surprised. Why was the group so determined to attack? Couldn't we just walk out there and invite the guards for the ride? Or better yet, now we just look like people who got locked in a closet when the alarm sounded. Why do they have to go charging in. Hadn't Quilia just said that there was no need to kill these guys.

Still, her thoughts fell on deaf ears. The other person had charged out of the closet toward the blast doors that were still locked. Quilia hadn't even unslung her rifle. What the heck. She strolled casually out of the closet, or was about to...

Unfortunately, the moment she took a step to prepare to leave, the little droid said something. She didn't speak the language, but it could only be a warning, based on the situation. She stopped and turned to the droid.

"Blah blah blah-blah blah." <---how the droid hears it mostly likely.

I was re-reading and saw this.

"It is equipped with a silencer, flash suppressor, and"

I am hoping against all hope that this is some new super-CyberPunk technology.

Unfortunately, it is more likely that my character was simply being scheistered since he knows jack about guns.

Me, on the other hand. I know a lot about guns. Those two things don't work in unison in today's world. They have to go in the same slot on the gun, and cannot be 'stacked'.

Quilia flipped her gun to stun. These guys weren't bad; there was no need to kill them. She slung it across her back again, and grabbed what comlinks she could find from the clutter in the room.

"They're coming with us. They'll get it just as bad as we did when KTI finds out that they screwed up. We'll pick up their families on our way off this rock and drop them off somewhere safe with whatever we can spare."

She was very upset with the situation.

I should note to the new people, the reason Percifeer is flustered is because every time the group sees one thing, they seem to forget the other leads. She thinks the best lead we have is Virgin Stuart in the Heart of Darkness and is very unhappy that the group didn't travel there the first day.

Anyhow, I suppose that if stealing this ship is vital to your storyline I can find a way to do it. Alternatively, if it isn't, believe me, I can find a way to make money.

third question I figured out.

Based on the size of the gun (and the decent likelyhood that it can't be fit into a normal sized briefcase) I am asking if I think it would fit (obviously the ammo would if the gun did) into a standard trombone case. I don't have a case for this weapon, and I don't want to walk around with it in the open.

It's specifically because of what happened to me that I don't want to steal the ship Loki. I know that the company will do the same to these guys. And they have a family to care for. I can find another way to make money. I don't have to do this...

Tann, I wish I could have told you this before, but the second you guys decided on that bus, your fate was sealed. TBH, I have little faith in you surviving this mis-adventure.

Don't get me wrong; I hope you do, but I just do not see it happening. Still, the sniper rifle was to be given to guardian, who would then cover you all from this massive forest that is the Biotechnica facility. I remembered that from the map, that's how I knew it'd be useful. There aren't generally tons of guards on the inside, it's getting through the outer-defenses that are the problem. That's why the rifle is useful.

Guards on the inside actually slow down production, so no one does it. Still, your choice to go there unprepared may have screwed me over bigtime. Now they'll be ready for us.
