The droid was rushing to Lelain's aid, which meant that Quilia would not have to worry about her. She had bigger fish to fry. She was the only eyes still actively scanning for danger, and she'd make darn sure she didn't miss anything.

Still, combat didn't just consist of staying alive, it also consisted of getting out of dangerous situations. Once Lelain recovered and was mobile again, Quilia slung her gun again and began collecting the necessary materials for the flight. First priority: Weapons. She started loading missiles onto their new transport.

Subject: A fixer's gift?

“You order online, no?” Kremlin said, still smiling. “Not soon enough? There are plenty-enough stores through city. You find with no problem. Now, tell me, Mr. Spiff, how is it that I do not know of you? Who’s shadow are you emerging from? We could use business associate with your gift of…how you say? Gab?”

"I will tell you, but if it's not to much trouble, could we stop by one such place on the way back to The Docks. I'd hate to be walking around Night City carrying this thing."

He then paused, and picked up his drink to take another sip. Before he pressed the glass to his lips, he paused and raised it up so he could see the clear liquid and the swirls of translucency that proved it to be alcohol, rather than water.

"Where do you get your vodka Mr. Kremlin?"

((some Russian place to be sure))

"And why wouldn't you buy it from somewhere else?"

((because Russian vodka is the only real vodka or something i'm sure))

"And how do you know it is good vodka?"

((because of whatever his tastes are, probably flavor or alcohol content))

"You see, good vodka is hard to come by. It must be properly fermented, properly flavored, and most definitely properly filtered. But looking at good vodka, you can see a very big difference between it and bad vodka. Cheap vodka tastes thick, and the swirls of alcohol mixing in it are very prevalent. Expensive vodka is smooth. You can look at it, as I do with this glass, and see through it clearly. You have to focus on its appearance to find the swirls and even then many miss it."

He took a sip of his glass and smiled, licking his lips.

"Good alcohol is subtle, Kremlin. So is a good speaker. In fact, I'm so very subtle, that you may have even heard of me before, and yet this day you are looking me in the face as though a stranger. I don't showboat my abilities unless it pays off to do so."

He set his glass down and smiled.

"Now, I already told you: if you want use of my gift, it doesn't come cheap. I work for myself and myself alone, but I like you guys. Helping gentlemen like you all for a bit of cash is not out of the question. I just wouldn't count on me being around forever. If that's reasonable to you, then we can work something out. If it's not, then I appreciate your business transaction and thank you for your time."

Subject: fair enough, a second post before the DM

She thought about smacking Miran over the head again now that they had arrived inside, but his effort to whisper was worth something. Still, the information was pointless to exchange and he certainly caused more bad than good in doing so.

She picked took another sip of her honey water at Miran's signal and got up to approach the bar. She smiled at the bartender and pursued conversation. "I'm a bit woozy at the moment, but I know I came here for something. Do you know what it was? Did I tell you about it when I walked in?" The conversation would be long and arduous for the both of them, but with any luck it would lead somewhere ((call it gather information?)).

Subject: Drunk Bar Wench!

Percifeer knew why they were here. They needed information. Their contact was someone very specific, and may or may not be the man who just walked in. She doubted it, though. Her detect magic was still active, allowing her to scan the room surreptitiously. Still, she was the drunken girl at the party. She would have to play the part.

She continued to fall all over Miran, surely to his disdain. Upon entering the bar to stares, she wobbled her way to the bar. She ordered several drinks, trying to avoid alcohol in at least 2, one for her, and one for the little girl. She bought drinks for all her friends.

Unfortunately, midst the transaction, another man rushed into the room and threw money on the bar. She caught the looks that darted at him, mostly 'cause that's who she was watching anyway and debated in her head whether to be friendly. She estimated that someone so loose with his money was sure to drop dead by the time he reached the alley outside. How he got in was fairly obvious to her. He was asking for it.

She finished getting her drinks and brought them to her friends, being sure to wink at the bartender as she left, furthering her drunken image. She returned to the table in time to hear the end of the newcomer's speech.

From the look on Ocyari's face (the first place to find the truth is always a child's face) it had been quite the life-story.

"Umm, can I talk now?" The little girl couldn't hold her tongue any longer. "Well, why not? The more the merrier, right? Oh, I'm Ocyari by the way."

As Ocyari reaches out to shake the newcomer's hand, Percifeer spreads out the drinks. "Definitely merrier!" she laughed, flopping down into her own chair.

Subject: fight a dwarf? HAH!

”You better not put up a fight here stubby, you’re outnumbered and you know it!”

These children wanted to beat up Rubrick. The dwarf stood a hearty 4'3" tall. He wondered if it was related to his height or they were just on one of those childish killing sprees. First it's ants, then it's bunnies, then it's those shorter than you. Ok, honestly, he didn't wonder. He hadn't enough time to wonder. The dwarf was too busy laughing.

Yes, Rubrick was laughing. They thought that their numbers meant something to him. Amidst his laughter, he knocked the clasp on his pack, dropping it to the ground. The pack must have carried considerable weight, not only from the loud clangs of it falling, largely due to the shield covering it, but also because of the tower of dust it blew into the air.

His pack off, he reached down with one-hand to release the knot on his tower-shield, and pick it up. The dwarf was left handed, his tower shield was now on his right. What it took a more inquisitive eye to see, was that admist doing that he also picked the morningstar off of his hip. He didn't go for his axe because these were just kids. They didn't know any better. Whether 15 or 40 years old, they were just kids to him.

He was still chuckling, when he came back up to his full height, fully armored, shield in hand, with a morningstar in his other. It was a low chuckle, belying a very deep, gruff, voice. It was this voice, that came out in the following words.

"You boys've never fought a dwarf before, 'ave ya?"

EDIT: Mixed flail & morningstar up

Subject: pretty darn short...

Percifeer pondered for a moment. She had already given herself away, not that Miran hadn't done that for her. Still, the people inside the bar didn't know it yet. She had straightened up to cast a spell, so the guy knew what she was. The only decision was to complete the task in that manner. "If you want my answer, it is the Khord. If you want someone else here to answer, the reply will be the same."

She then, flopped back over onto Miran's shoulder back in her apparent drunken state and winked at the guard.

Thanks Grugg. I should let you know, that was a hell of a spot check. The axe is under a tower shield AND a backpack. I suppose that's why the thugs hadn't caught sight of it.

Subject: and....clarification

The owl was up on the rooftops spotting for teeth. If it can't see very well would be the only reason to get closer (unlikely). If it is getting nothing, then I was going to use a detect magic spell to see if any of them show up on it and in what manner.

EDIT: and I thought they were having a conversation, which is why I was thinking a spot could pick up teeth.

The final method, if none of that works is to use the summoned monster to attack. That, apparently is against unstated rules, which I don't blame you for given the alignments here. Still, I can't claim I wouldn't do it. My character believes the rules were as they were stated.

Theoretically, I agree with the detect undead spell, but right offhand I figured it was a trick question, which declared to me that more than one of the group would be undead, which is the reason I'm getting so complex with my analysis.

Subject: Apologies DM

Nonononono. I think there was a complete misinterpretation here. The internet is a rather harsh medium after all. My intent was not to insult. Generally, when a player does something extreme, the DM will try to thwart it, that is all I was trying to say.

I was speaking more from personal experience than from what I've seen you do. You've been an excellent DM and I had no intent to insult.

Additionally, I do apologize if I was unclear as to Percifeer's actions. If you can tell a way that I can be more clear in the future, please give me hints. Maybe it's because I'm picturing how this is going in my own manner that it seems quite clear to me. I really thought I was clear in my posts and could use any pointers you're willing to give.

Subject: I could take it

No, it's more than possible. The DM will, as I start to explain how, try to come up with ridiculous ways to thwart it. He'll claim something like "it's made of steel". The reality of the matter is that the building (being so near a river) is built on wooden stilts. I can summon a few mounts and tie them to a stilt rather easily. They will yank out, causing catastrophe. The only thing that will stop me is the obvious thugs in the shadows, but then, that's what my wand of Summon Monster I is for. It's not that difficult to tear a building down. Surviving such a direct attack on this building....that's another question.

You're right about Percifeer's reputation.

She will tear the building down, if what Al said happened, really just happened.

Edit: I think what's upsetting as a player is that the guy is making up rules as he goes. He set the rules, not me. That he doesn't like my way around them is not really relevant to whether I complete the task or not.

my owl was not on my arm, but in the night air (on buildings etc). If he was able to spot that it was mine without it being anywhere near me, then he's using some sort of spell that i've never heard of before...

The reason I'm asking is because I'm playing a caster. Call it a spellcraft check if you must.

Subject: why she played along

Percifeer sighed, stepping forward and smacking Miran upside the head. It's not to say she wasn't ready. As soon as she heard the task, she had been communicating with her owl to find the one with the (mental image) vampiric teeth.

((+17 move silently, +16 spot--in this lighting))

She turned to the bouncer and demonstrated a very sober expression. "I'll answer." There were no giggles, no smiles, just a steady reply.

If the owl has difficulty, her first attempt will be to mix what knowledge the owl has with a detect magic. If both fail, she'll take the much simpler route ((summon monster II -- celestial riding dog)) and see how they fight. The vampire's tactics would make him/her very obvious. That would abide by all the rules and prove herself more than capable of 'dark powers'. She had thought this through, to say the least.

((assuming they are let in))

She turned to the bodyguard as she entered the building. "Oh, and don't ever call me a whore again."
